Level 20 by the end of Chapter 3 on a draft run?

Possible, but not entirely plausible. I might have to sacrifice quite a few turns to make sure that happens.

--A Knight to Remember--

(Ironic, considering that I didn't draft a single armored character.)

Starring the cast of Ethlin, Cuan, Noish, Dew, Levin, Titlyu, Mana, Arthur, Tinny, Leaf, Hawk, Aless, Sharlow, and Altenna.

Prologue:
Yup. By drafting half of my team in the first chapter, I was able to power-level Noish... carefully. I've never raised Noish before, see; I always threw the guy to the side as soon as possible, since I've never been terribly fond of the Cain/Abel pairs in the series.

It's hard to raise Ethlin given her horrible Strength, but the axe-users in this level were easy to soften up a bit. I skipped the villages, killed every bandit I could get my greedy hands on, and submit a slow but steady finish.

I couldn't get Azel away from one of the bandits in time, so I submit a 3-turn penalty.

Total Turns for Prologue: 22 + 3 = 25.

Chapter 1: Girl of the Spirit Forest
User Image
This chapter was a little rougher. I didn't draft Dew to level him; he requires a tad too much babying for me to handle outside of an unlimited-time run. I just wanted the money that's terribly easy to rake in at early levels.

As it is, I already took far too long on this chapter as it was. Drawing Ayra away from her post took precious time (I want her Hero Sword later, hence the rescue), and keeping Edain away from combat proved to be quite tricky, in between running back and forth between Ethlin and Jamuka. Speaking of Jamuka, at the time of my playing of this chapter, he hadn't been drafted yet; I recruited him just in case, even though something told me that it was going to be a waste of valuable turns.

Drawing him close and then 'pouncing' him with Edain takes precious, precious time. Oh well.

The Return Staff I got from Edain will come in handy later, while I make sure Edain herself gets the Warp Staff. Will she use it? Of course not, but there's no rules against me taking Dew's gift right back. *hweh hweh hweh*

Good news: By the time I hit the end of this chapter, Noish's Steel Sword is nearly Berserked (39 kills, by this point), and he's nearing promotion level. Woot woot.

Total turns: 45 + 25 = 70 turns. Not a good start.

Chapter 2: Disturbance in Augustria
User Image
Urgggghhh. I have a love/hate affair with this chapter, it's true. It's either a breeze, or I screw up somewhere along the way. This time, it's a screw-up.

You'll notice thus far that I've been keeping horrible level ups. My characters aren't nearly as strong as they should be, given the ease with which FE4 can be RNG-hacked by an experienced player- I save only twice each chapter, in order to challenge myself. Thus, I play more carefully (read: slowly) than a typical draft player.

I saved Lachesis and her Knights (though it took some doing, even with Ethlin's high Movement!), talked to her with Dew to get the Thief Sword, then plopped her near the church south of her castle. Since the trio likes to assist whenever possible, I needed to keep their charge so far away that their AI wouldn't be triggered by the forces that moved south after certain castles are captured. If you haven't looked at the map yet, I won't spoil the surprises for you.

I recruited Holyn and slaughtered Beowulf, since I wasn't going to be using him anyway.I dragged Fin around long enough for him to get his Hero Lance, then immediately sold it after conquering Hierhein.

At the halfway point, I Returned and Promoted Noish; he'd held onto the Elite Ring until he hit level 20, then sold it for Arden's Pursuit Ring. When Fury moved in from the north, I moved him up the pass to the east, only to realize that that path cuts off after a certain point. Given that the ballistae were keeping Levin from advancing, though, I cut my losses and kept going.

I had to play so defensively, though, that I ended up spending a good 10-15 turns that I shouldn't have needed. That Sleep Staff on the boss was a killer, since it clogged my killing lanes, but I couldn't do anything about it- Diedre was back at base, and dragging her to an effective range would've taken another 20 turns. I keep forgetting what chapter it is that I can't rely on her anymore, but that's a story for another time.

Another note: Levin with the Knight Ring is gonna be fun, I can feel it in my bones. <3

Don't feel to bad Kurai mine was MUCH worse.

Prologue: Sigurd and Alec VS the RNG

So to start things off I let Sigurd go off on his own while checking to see if Alec can use Steel swords (he can as well as using Iron Lances). I had Noish sell his Steel sword and come to find out Alec was a bit short on gold so he goes a rescues the near by village to get 3000 gold and come back to base to buy the Steel Sword so he can do more damage.

While on route to Jungby Castle I get 2 penalties one for Azel getting a kill and one for Ethlin healing. After I beat the boss there I let Sigurd and Alec heal up at the church before actually seizing Jungby. This was so they were prepared for the units that were coming.

Alvis (who most people know is my Favorite character in FE and will VERY well want to claim him once I get enough posts.) appears and a talk with him and Sigurd will give what I can very well use a silver sword. Sigurd was now able to 2 hit kill almost every thing.

The boss at Evans Castle was causing a lot of problems. I had to play a game of fight and heal to finally get him to where the freaking RNG would stop killing Sigurd. That was a VERY painful prologue

Chapter 3: The Lion King Eltosian
User Image

Yet another chapter that took a little bit longer than it should have. But still, hooray! I now have all of my First Gen Units.

Because I didn't draft Lachesis, I found it insanely difficult to lead the Cross Knights in circles. Yeesh. When Eltosian leapt out in all his fabulous glory into the battlefield, I sat there kinda confused; was he going to go after Sigurd, or my castle? When he finally started chasing me down, I focused on defensive maneuvers and wasted a few turns getting him within reach. By the time Lachesis got to him (with no battle exp), there were only two Paladins left.

Both Levin and Ethlin had to retreat back to the main castle after Eltosian left. Promotions ahoy! After that, Ethlin swept through the Arena for extra gold and ran back to join the others in her newfound badassness. Levin raped face for quite some time with the Knight, Leg, and Elite Rings, and sold the last once he promoted. Having a Sage with that much movement is ridiculous. I look forward to seeing him with Holsety. <3

Keeping Titlyu alive turned out to be a challenge, too; it made for an interesting game of keepaway with the local bandit population. Claud healed Titlyu once (thank goodness he's free!), and Brigid got slaughtered without much consequence. I didn't really mind missing the tearful sister reunion, since I'm not using Archers in either generation, anyway.

...I don't think I forgot anything. If I did, I'll edit that info in, later.

Edit: Well, s**t. I forgot Levin's screencap. Good thing I saved at the start of Chapter 4. His stats will go up tomorrow night.

LYRE'S AMAZING FE4 DRAFT RUN (Gen. 1)

Starring: Sigurd, Diadora, Ayra, Aideen, Lex, Midir, Jamka, Azel

Prologue: Sigurd, Lex, Azel, and Midir!

23 turns! Lex took down the boss. Most of the villages were bypassed, except for the one that Azel and Lex start right next to, and the one right next to Jungby. Lex picked up a speed ring from that one. We had a bit of a challenge getting to the center church- Sigurd played decoy for a while, while everyone else ran in to get healing. Then Lex clogged up the bridge for a bit, and then we all moved on to take down Evans... and everyone ended up looking very worse for wear, at the end. |D

Sigurd: 11
Lex: 11
Azel: 4
Midir: 4

woop woop.

Chapter 1: Sigurd, Lex, Azel, Midir, Aideen, Ayra, Jamka, and Diadora!

43 turns. At one point I got myself stuck in a pickle because Dew ended up baiting Ayra, so she was following me around the map before I had even gotten to the castle... but then Sigurd's silver sword broke, luckily, so he was able to just have her lured in and hitting him and she wouldn't be killed, and then he finally made it to the castle and everything was peachy. Oh and Dew was killed by Ayra and he deserved it too because he was dumb. Woooo. I hate forests. Also I did a tiny bit of arena time this chapter.

Sigurd: 15
Lex: 15
Azel: 8
Midir: 7
Aideen: 6
Ayra: 9
Jamka: 7
Diadora: 5

23+43=66 turns so far.

Chapter 4: Dance in the Skies
User Image

Ethlin and Cuan ran off. Booooo. At least I have a healer in Levin, now.

Babying time. Despite the pressure that's put on all draft members to keep turns low, I needed Titlyu to promote this round if I was going to have a chance at pairing her with Levin. As it was, it was difficult to have her keep up with Levin, what with his Leg and Knight rings; I ended up not bothering with Love Points, focusing instead on EXP. While Noish, Dew, Sigurd, and Levin surged ahead, Titlyu picked off bandits until she leveled up to 18. Waiting for Dew to take down the drawbridge took a few turns away from my score, but nothing serious.

By that point, the castle was taken, and the villagers were released.

After saving two villagers, she backtracked to my home base, promoted, and stayed there with Dew. The rest of my units surged forward and captured the rest of the castles with no issues. Granted, I had to warp Noish to the northeastern castle, and stationed him there as a guard. For those wondering why on earth my opponent had 13 units, blame the brigade of Pegasus Knights that wouldn't attack a high-level unit stationed at a castle. I don't think enemies will attack anyone they have a 0% chance of hitting, but I'd have to look into the AI code to confirm that.

In the wake of realizing that Levin was in love with Sylvia, I made sure she died from the ranged Sage sitting by Silesia's main castle.

I hope it was painful. No stealing my mage's baby-maker. :/

Chapter 5: Doors of Destiny
User Image

Halfway point!

With Titlyu successfully promoted, I dropped Dew to the wayside and resolved not to give him any more EXP. I left him to Guard the castle, rushed out to meet Sigurd's papa, and snagged the Tyrfring before... well, play it and see.

Hnnnngh. Keeping Levin next to Titlyu the entire time was driving me absolutely bonkers. While Titlyu's status said that she loved Claude, Levin's said that he loved Titlyu; I wasn't sure whose love points were higher, but by the time I realized this issue, there were no enemies near my home castle. Driving Claude out and leaving him to die wouldn't have been remotely plausible, so I crossed my fingers and kept my Sages together. Since love clocks stop totaling at 50 turns, I hoped that I had enough turns to amass all 500 needed points to make my loli Sage pop out babies.

On the subject of babies, I threw out any woman who was in love. Edain and Lachesis were put to the sword unarmed, making Ayra the only undrafted female survivor of my First Generation.

About halfway through the chapter, I watched the inevitable desert battle and facepalmed a bit. Again, if you haven't played Seisen no Keifu, play it. I'm not spoiling anything.

Rushing through the first half of the chapter with no issues, I stopped dead at the desert. Thankfully, Sigurd could handle the Sages, what with his +20 MDef from the Tyrfring. The rest of my units, though, didn't take too kindly to the brigade of Dragon Knights and ranged magic. That being the case, I stuck around a couple of turns to wipe out the dragons' leader, then stormed the desert keep at the speed of molasses in winter. Good news: around this time, Levin and Titlyu got some lovin'. Ohhhhh yeah.

Noish stayed behind, before the desert. I sold his Pursuit Ring, and fought to get enough money for Levin to buy a Pursuit ring for Arthur. I barely scraped together the funds, but I did it. I likewise sold his Steel Sword with 100 kills on it, swapping it with Sigurd's own Steel Sword (which had a measly 25). With my next-gen prep done, I swept through and wiped out the final forces before going to meet Sigurd's destiny.

Play the game, if you haven't already. This part is awesome. ;3

Chapter 6: Light Inheritors

Second Generation is go!

Passing down a whole crapton of equipment to Celice turned out to be overkill, in a way. With two Berserked weapons (his Silver Sword with 60 kills, and a Steel with 100) under his belt, Celice proceeded to run through the chapter with... well, no problems.

Same with Arthur and his berserked Elwind tome, bolstered by passively equipping Holsety after attacking with Elwind. He also kept his father's Leg and Knight Rings, which made catching up to Celice much easier.

I cannot stand babying Shamans in this game. As such, Yuria leaves the round with nothing to speak of, in terms of experience.

Holy crap, the map is huge. Just running from castle to castle took for-bloody-ever.

On another note, it felt good to slaughter both brothers. I think I might have a problem.

Chapter 7: Passing the Desert
User Image

Blargh.

Due to a lack of foresight on my part, Fin was left as a level 1 Cavalier with nothing more than a pair of Iron Lances to protect Leaf with, and Leaf's Light Sword had only 32 uses after I had his mother abuse it. This left me at a slight disadvantage, even if his stats were slightly boosted by my raising of both Cuan and Ethlin.

I acquired quite a few units this chapter: Tinny, Aless, and Leaf joined up, leaving me with only three units left to acquire in Second Generation (Altenna, Sharlow, and Hawk). As such, Yuria again sat in the back. I have absolutely no intention of giving her experience unless it's absolutely necessary.

Keeping Shanan alive was difficult, but his ability to take out all of the Dark Mages saved Arthur and Celice a lot of grief when they charged Yied Castle. I use 'charge' with a grain of salt, since they were crawling through the sand tiles at speeds that would make a snail roll its eyes. Once I captured Yied Castle with Shanan at 1 HP to spare, I readied myself for the next charge.

Once Aless appeared, keeping him alive was more difficult than I expected. Demon Sword or not, the guy was extremely fragile; Celice had to kill half of the cavaliers following him, since Aless was very prone to getting smacked by everything they threw at him.

Tinny herself provided a unique challenge. I almost reset after she entered Blume's castle, only to have to retreat moments later when she came back out with a brigade of mages. I needed to make sure the field was clear before recruiting her, since she was just like Aless; very powerful, but very squishy.

Leaf stood his ground with some difficulty, and sending Oifaye to reinforce his position made my life a lot easier.

Arthur's just about ready to promote. Guess I'll sell his Knight Ring, soon.

Huh? Oh right it is Nom's turn to talk about the draft! Well then!

Prologue! The ... I hate you axes!

Enter: Sigurd and Fin!

Okay this chapter is kind of easy for me because I have at least one sword user. Downside: I have Fin. Who is locked to lances. But that will be amended somehow later one once I get his RAPE FACE ON! *Cough* But that will come at a later date.

Sigurd took his time to charge down to try and save Midir but s**t happened. Once he entered the field Fin started to clean up behind Sigurd, making sure to stop by a church when needed. The bandits are not friendly here so he takes a lot of damage. Sigurd beats up the boss on the castle then seizes while Fin snags the Speed Ring. I'm gonna love those rings later on.

Onward! Alvis comes down and BURNS THE PUNY MORTALS AHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA! *Cough* Ahem...sorry. But he gets to Sigurd and gives him the RAPE SWORD! Yes Celice is gonna love it later. Sigurd wrecks house and s**t goes down. Everyone else that was not drafted got their asses into Chalphy castle where they belong.

Turn count! User Image

I will upload the stats in my next one cause I didn't save those when I played the chapter. I think in the other one I also managed to clear the arena so they won't be the starting stats. Stay tuned for more adventures of Sigurd and Fin!

Sigurd and Fin!

The bottom did cut off a little though
PostPosted: Mon Jun 11, 2012 9:57 pm

We move onward to: Chapter 1! Axes are still abundant!

Sigurd and Fin still in action!

All right so I gotta tell you something. This chapter is annoying. Why? Because for some reason I decided to recruit Ayra. She chased after Dew and Aideen while Sigurd was wrecking Genoa's castle. Problem there? I could have lost one of them. Luckily I managed to wise up somehow and had Fin pull a nice defensive maneuver.

Anyways getting to Genoa wasn't fun. With bows and hand axes around, my best bet was for Sigurd and Fin to use a Javelin, so I did. Bad part? That slows us down and makes us easier to be hit. I made this mistake a couple times in the chapter and SOMEHOW survived. I think I'm getting somewhat lucky. But we killed the boss thanks to Sigurd and his RAPE SWORD! Then seized Genoa.

Moving on, Fin went to wreck the fighters that chased Aideen and Dew while Sigurd recruited Ayra. I was stupid here. I figured that kills in the arena counted towards a weapons kill count. Well it doesn't so my master plan to get Ayra's awesome weapon was slightly killed off. Oh well, a good weapon for the pawn shop anyways! Sigurd and Fin rushed to get the Skill Ring and meet Deirdre. Things were fine there.

BUT WAIT! THERE'S ALWAYS MORE REINFORCEMENTS!

All the way at the last castle comes the dark idiot that spouts nonsense about control for the sect blah blah. Jamka I hate you this time around. You and your killer bow can go die in a hole. It's killed Fin so many times it ain't funny. Once I wised up and got it out of the way I moved on.

Enter Deirdre!

Seriously, I don't like her. Really, she just comes down to being a pretty face. And those ALWAYS seem to mean plot device somewhere. If you wanna know more look it up. I ain't spoiling anything about the game.

We moved towards the castle, Javelins held high, took out the mooks and Deirdre silenced the dark dude. Fin rushed up and beat him down to just about dead before Deirdre hit him with Aura, getting the final blow. Here I debated on sending her back to go through the arena but thought against it.

Chapter 8: The Dragon Knights of Thracia
User Image

There's not really much to say, here; the chapter was very straightforward, though I found out the hard way that Hawk can't defend a castle worth a damn, when left all by his lonesome. Oh well.

That being said, Ishtar posed no problem for Arthur, who wiped her out promptly with a few Holseties to the face. Screw you and your warning, Yuria. MageKnight Arthur's got skillz.

Raising Leaf is proving to be a very delicate process, but it's one that I'm sure will pay off, later.

It'd better.

Master Knights are sexy. It's kinda hard to ******** that up.

Chapter 9: For Whose Sake?
User Image

I played through this chapter three goddamn times. The first time, I mowed down Hannibal and his forces, thinking that Sharlow would stick around after I killed the guy holding him hostage. Nope, Sharlow ran off in a huff; apparently the General holding the castle couldn't hold a hostage worth a damn, if a little kid wandered away on his own.

At that point, I reset.

Try 2: I completed the entire map, killing Arion in the process. I baited Altenna for as long as I could to delay Hannibal's charge (wasting quite a few turns, since Sharlow moves about as fast as a General in the desert), wiggling Aless with an Iron Lance and Arthur with Holsety in front of her nose. Because she had a 0 chance of hitting Arthur, she never attacked him, and she poked Aless from a distance with her Javelin.

I recruit Hannibal.

I forget to get the Berserk Staff. I don't realize this until after I complete Arena runs in Chapter 10, but I save in Slot 1. I realize this just before I'm about to save in Slot 2; with frustration, I realize that the Berserk staff is part of the reason why he's valuable to begin with.

Cue another rage reset. Thankfully, I use three save files: Slot 1 holds a chapter at its beginning (in case I forget to take screen caps at the end of a chapter), Slot 2 holds all the data after I arena abuse, and Slot 3 is used twice a chapter.

I reload from Slot 2 and try again.

Try 3: I get the Berserk Staff, and finish the round just short of headdesking. In my haste, I forget to run Altenna through the arena.

At this point, I'm so frustrated that I keep going, anyway. FML.
