Amon had been rather quiet since the night of the feast. Perhaps it was his body finally relieved to have gotten some quality food and sleep. Despite one night's sleep and meal not being enough to keep him going forever, Amon was significantly calmer now. And while the trio was out walking the streets of Eyris, whenever his eyes were not on Lord Khayri, they were scanning the streets. Now and then he would lightly nod, more to himself than to any person in particular. How fast Eyris' diverse populations prepared to supply the troops, and how many people stood before them and cheered as Sir Rath addressed them, spoke of their cause and intent, filled him with honor as he stood before them. The normally stone faced Sentrian was visibly awed, even though he tried his best to hide it. They had chosen their allies very well.
And perhaps he would take that rest that Lord Khyari offered. He was correct, and it would alleviate plenty of worry on the part of all three of them. Only as his exhaustion was mentioned did Amon feel it weigh down his body tenfold. Though he stood upright and kept face as always.
"Mmm... Thank you my Lord." He spoke warmly, as they retreated from the audience's view. "But do not hesitate to call upon me should any task need doing."
"Of course I am ready, Lord Khayri. I always am and always shall be." Amon replied, as they stopped on their way. After a brief pause, he responded to the previous question. "And yes... It is something to be proud of. Here, today, we have taken great steps for our people. Today, my Lord, Is the day you truly begin to lead us. Prepare to lead us into the desert. The Bandit King will indeed pay, and you will realize your birthright as King of Sentria. I have the utmost faith in you, Lord Khayri. But you must rest yourself before we set off as well."

As the three Sentrians were talking, Abel turned a corner near Rath's office and stood before them, a mischievous grin on his face. He had caught ear of them talking and couldn't help but listen all the way through. He was particularly interested in the key phrase of 'birthright as King of Sentria'. He didn't fully understand, but it was clear that these three were no mere mercenaries like Rath had introduced them to be.
Since his request to Rath didn't go so well, he needed to think of something else. His group needed a job and he needed a way to get to Sentria. These people, especially if the one really was a royal, could be just what Abel needed. He extended his hand to Lord Khayri. "My name's Abel. We should talk..."

Blustering blisters! Always the yawn, the yawn, the yawn! Rin stamped her foot lightly as she opened her mouth again, letting out a rather long yawn as she stopped her stroll. By the goddess, sleepiness would not bind her down! There were things to prepare, bread to be bought, and group to return to. Rin had woken up to the announcement in the town square, unsure what this meant for her now that she had joined up with Cloak. Sure, the day to day contracts were simple enough with the explorations, rescue attempts, dog sitting...Oh god she remembered the dog sitting. Those were indeed dark times. Snowflake the Terrible, a name that will forever live on in infamy.
May the Goddess help us all.
...Anyway, the fact of the matter was that there was a new campaign against Sentria on the horizon and the town was ready preparing! What Lance had up his sleeves, she didn't want to fathom a guess. True, she could up and back out of anything that popped up. A good ol' ollie out was never bad for the soul, after all. But the truth of the matter was, Blossom, Iris, especially Lance...All her new-found, presumable, friends certainly wouldn't reject any chance to jump onto a contract or a request to join into the conflict. ...As much as she was terrified at the idea of another run in like Arajudia, she couldn't just stand around in town waiting around for them to come back.
"Maybe I should talk it over with everyone, they might not even want to bring me around. It's up to Lance after all..."
She frowned, her brow wrinkling somewhat as she clenched her staff tightly in one hand since the other clutched her bag strap. At least she really wouldn't have to wait too long, what with the HQ coming in the next turn. Maybe the girls could give her some advice on the matter? Even if Iris was a bit dramatic at times, Rin valued her and Blossom's input more than anyone else she could think of.
"It's a nice little home here...Maybe it's time to fight for it."
She walked in and instantly froze up, seeing Blossom trying to hold a conversation with the announcer she had seen at the town square. Crumpets. Blossom and the rest were certainly connected! Then again, Blossom did have other duties and affiliations outside of Cloak. That's it! She needed to read a book or something, this was starting to get a little much with the surprises and new things to learn about them! Wait...Oh geez, Rin snap out of it! You need to duck into your room or something! This is important business you know! With that she clung to the wall, trying to stay where Blossom's position would hide her before ducking into the nearest room till the whole thing blew off.
"...I hope Iris is here..."

((HERPADERP EDITTING CAUSE I'M A DUMBASS.))
So the next battle was to take place in Pentheus once more, eh? Not exactly a place that served well for Ephraim if he recalled the desert side of this place. Still, mercenaries will probably be hired to do some work which means Lance's might be in as well. We'll just have to see how things play out. For the time being Ephraim stepped out of the crowd and started to wander the semi-empty streets.

Placing his bed directly facing the window might not have been the best idea, given the circumstances. As the midday sun shone through, it would hit Lance straight across the eyes. At first he tried ignoring it and pulling the sheets over his face, but the brightness finally made him cave in and he reluctantly sat up. Grunting, he rubbed his eyes, and touched his rough chin. He clicked his tongue at the touch, as the many all-nighters was finally starting to show through. This sort of scruffy chin didn't suit him much...he'd need to take a bath and a quick shave before he could show himself in public.
A sharp knock at the door made him momentarily forget the state he was in, wearing only his pants at the moment. His chest bare, his long hair untended to, still smelling of alcohol...he really shouldn't have answered the way he did.
"Come in." he replied wearily.
"Lance? Hey, Lance! Rath's--" She paused at the door as Lance spoke up. He sounded tired, actually. Really tired. Blossom turned the knob and opened the door, peering in uncertainly. "I know you're probably busy, but... u-um." She paused in the doorway, hand still on the knob, and stared at him for a moment. "...Good... good morning." Blossom reached up and tightened her ponytail, looking away from him for a moment. "S-Sorry. You're clearly-- u-um, I mean... ...a-anyway." Eventually settling on not addressing his state of undress at all, face faintly pink, she cleared her throat and spoke up again, trying to remain professional. "Rath is here. He, uh, he needs to talk to you. Something about a contract...?" It was just weird seeing friends right out of bed, only half-dressed. Especially Lance. She finally looked back at him, face still pink. "He's-- He's in the main room right now."
Looking over to Blossom, he raised a confused eyebrow at her reaction. It was not a typical reaction of friends meeting eachother, despite what others thought. Although it was a weird concept to most, of course single men and women could just be friends without being attracted to eachother, and such was the case of Blossom and Lance. So her acting flustered was peculiar indeed...
He took a quick glance downwards, processed the information, before coming to a quick conclusion.
"Ah."
He thought about making a perverted joke about it, like friends do, until he heard the rest of her gibberish.
Which also took a moment to process.
That's when his eyes shot open.
"...HE'S HERE?!"
Panicking, he flailed his arms around, looking wildly around the room.
"He's...I...wait! I knew he was coming, but I thought it was going to be later! I was out late err, working, so I haven't had the time to freshen up! This is in no way proper procedure! Blossom! Quick! Find me a...dammit, find me a towel! I need to grab a quick shower and whatnot! Find me a towel and then...then...go stall him! Do something to keep him busy! Seduce him if you have to, just make sure he's in a good mood!"
He then quickly disappeared into a nearby room, turning on water and then rummaging through a cabinet in search of a razor.
"Y-Yeah. So, uh..." she trailed off, rubbing her arm. She was about to step out of the room and let him get dressed when he yelled and acted as if a spider had landed on his arm. Blossom paused there in the doorway, uncertain of what precisely to do. She rubbed a hand over her face, then stepped inside the room. "Towel, all right. I can find a towel." She didn't exactly have to mention that she didn't know where he kept anything in the room, but it didn't take her very long to locate one. Blossom rapped her knuckles on the door frame to the adjoining room to get Lance's attention before holding the towel out for him, glancing over his shoulder at the contents of the cabinet instead of focusing on the awkwardness of her friend in a panic, shirtless, and smelling kind of hung over. "Here's your towel. Do you need anything else before I try to keep Rath busy for a bit? It-- wait did you seriously say seduce him earlier." She paused, looking back at him, then sighed. "Whatever. By the way, if you need anything else, just holler, all right?" Blossom stepped away from the doorway. "You can shout that you... need help locating some paperwork for your contract or somethin'."
"Good work, Cadet, there's hope for you still..." he said jokingly, as he quickly hopped into the water, going for a "bachelor's cleanup", with a quick soaping, and quickly shaving himself.
************************ Finally coming towards the entrance, not long after Blossom came to fetch him, he quickly burped before turning the corner, emerging in the lobby with his gaze fixed into a small notebook, which he was busy scribbling in. (It was less scribbling and more doodling, he just needed to look like he was doing something important as he turned the corner.) As he raised his head, a vibrant smile spread over his face as he strode towards the Nomad. "Master Rath, pleasure to meet you again!"
Wearing the trademark cloak and badge of his organisation, he wore a formal blue outfit with shades of black, almost looking regal except he wore no jewelry.
Considering the state he was in earlier, he was impressed with how well he recovered. He just hoped Rath hadn't gotten impatient by the brief wait. "Sorry for the delay, I had some final reports to go through."
He nodded towards Blossom and gave her a subtle thumbs up for the tea she had served while they waited. "Thank you for your help, Blossom. I'll take care of Rath from here. Have fun with your preparations."
As she waved casually back towards Rath while smiling, and nodding towards Lance, she left the two of them to deal with her own work.
Lance gave her a friendly salute as he turned towards Rath, grinning wide at his presence. "Sorry if we appear too, err, close and familiar with eachother. We try our best to act like friends here, regardless of position. I think Blossom enjoyed spending some time with a friend, if you don't mind me saying. Now then. Would you like to move to our Briefing Room for this discussion, or would you just like to do it here?"

He glanced to the doorway of another room, knowing that some of the other members could be listening in. He didn't mind. "I would also like to apologize for my early arrival, I know it must have been alarming. You look well for having just awoken, by the way." he commented, grinning very slightly. "...You were quite loud."
Rath departed from the subject by pulling out some form of scroll and holding it in his lap. "I'll get onto business. I'm sure you received the letter I sent last night, meaning you are already aware of our basic situation. Our forces will be moving in two groups; Our main army will be heading to Pentheus and a smaller group, which our Sentrian guests will be a part of, will be led by me. I would like to hire your group to be a part of both. For mine, three to five people, including yourself, seems reasonable. However, I leave the actual party size to you." Rath unrolled the scroll and handed it to Lance. "On this map, I have circled the location where my group is to rendezvous with Songhua's tribe. Vanessa The first thing Vanessa had done after hearing the king's announcement was to report to her commanding officer for orders. She had arrived in Learania only a matter of days ago, but it hadn't taken her long to realize that no good would come from panicking. Knowing that she needed work and ever mindful of her rather narrow skill set, Vanessa enlisted in the Learanian military at her first opportunity. As much as she wanted to return to Frelia, she knew she was much more likely to find a way back through patience and vigilance than through reckless abandon. Though the day of her return was undoubtedly distant, Vanessa was resolved to be alive to see it.
Even so, she couldn't suppress a creeping sensation of anxiety. While she was hopeful, maybe even optimistic, she was still a stranger in a very strange land. Her military service only worsened the problem--while she was certainly no stranger to warfare, almost her entire division was composed of wyvern riders, with her being one of the few exceptions. Some of the training routines and drills were similar to those of the Frelian pegasus knights, but it was all in all still far from familiar. Vanessa knew that she would become accustomed to this land at some point, probably sooner rather than later, but that knowledge did little to quell her uneasiness.
One thing that did go a small way towards easing her emotions was the unit she had been assigned to. Having rarely flown alongside wyvern knights, and never any as well trained as these, she couldn't help but be impressed by their discipline and strength. She could tell after less than a day of training that they would prove to be dependable allies. There were only two areas in which the wyverns were sorely lacking: magical resistance and numbers. She had not witnessed the first part of the war or the pivotal siege of Eyris, but she had certainly heard talk. Learania had undoubtedly lost many soldiers, and while common infantry can be replaced quickly enough, wyverns took much longer. More likely than not, this meant that the remaining units would have to work even harder to make up for small numbers. This didn't pose too great a concern for the pegasus rider, however--she had grown accustomed to this in her time fighting for Ephraim and Eirika. On the other hand, it had been a long time since she had fought with a real airborne division, be they pegasi or wyvern.
All of this she reflected upon while waiting for the rest of her unit to arrive so orders could be given. The commanding officer would say nothing except that her division would be flying with the main body of the army to support the retaking of Pentheus. What little packing and preparation she had needed to do she had already done, so Vanessa remained seated and allowed herself to drift into a state of deep contemplation.
This battle is in the air...

There was an awkward silence between them for a moment as Lance's cheeks flushed red. Not showing any further emotion on his face, Lance avoided eye contact as he merely flipped to another page in his small book. The moment he heard of the contract, he started researching the case in itself. Nothing in the information he had uncovered had any sort of impact on his own mission, so he felt there was no need to reveal them to the nomad at this point, so he merely shrugged as he flipped to yet another page. "Ah, yes, I've read up about the contract. There are just a few things I'd like to go over before we head out."
He paused a moment to greet fellow Cloakers walking past, before continuing. "Specifically, even if I draft the lineup, you're still the employer here. And, you could say, this job is crucial to the nation's security and success. Since we haven't made it clear yet what we'll be doing exactly, I'd like to know what you would have me and my agents do. Since only a few will be going with you and the Sentrians, I'm merely wondering what team I should take out. Do you want a more subtle, covert team for scouting and recon, information gathering? Do you want the very best of my fighters for bodyguarding? The best mix I can take out? Since the smaller group will have to be more niched, I just want to know what you, as the employer, would rather want to have at your side."
He slammed his book shut as he smiled back at Rath. "I'll be aiming to meet your specifications to the fullest, Sir."

James nervously fiddled with his gavel. He detested the throne; it was ancient and crumbling, and so he actually held most of his audiences in his expansive study, which housed a small portion of the library, along with several relics and a heavy mahogany desk. Hopefully, they would take his advice and restore the throne, but the historians were loathe to mess with anything that had belonged to Leander.
Sigh.
There was a slight knock, and James looked up sharply, putting the tiny wooden hammer down. "C-come in!" he called, straightening up. Hopefully this was his appointment, and not yet another aide coming in to bother him about something or other.
Marina, on the other side of that door, was extremely nervous. First she'd been invited to a war council, where she spoke up of her own volition, and now the king himself wanted to see her? It was almost too much! After receiving his reply, she turned the knob and, taking a deep breath before doing so, slowly pushed the door open. "Yes, sir, you... uh, wanted to see me?"
James nodded as she entered, coughing into his hand, and then nervously adjusted his collar. "Yes! Marina, hello. It's... it's good to see you. You must be wondering why I've... called you in. It's just, you see, I've spoken to Tibarn. I admit I was... curious about his decision to include you in our meetings. Now, during the last meeting, you certainly... gave everyone present ample reason to consider your presence worthwhile, and your expertise beyond measure. But I admit..."
He frowned, crossing his arms and looking up. "That's not what... what fascinates me, about you."
Yeah, really! Why had Tibarn included her in the meetings? Just a couple of months previously she was still getting over a grudge against Amelia, resulting in a near-brouhaha right in front of him! It was as far from professional as one could possibly get, but over those months she had been working steadily with Tibarn and Amelia to get over it, and now here she was, impressing kings. Just what the hell had happened?
She gaped at him in awe, still standing in the doorway. "You-- you what?" She coughed. "I mean, uh, sorry, sir. I don't understand what you mean?"
He rubbed his chin thoughtfully, which looked kind of adorable, to be honest. "I... You come from Magvel, don't you? Not the... same Magvel most of the others came from," he murmured, sitting back and gesturing to the seat on the other side of his desk. "Can I get you a drink?"
"I--" So he and Tibarn had been talking! "Yeah, uh... yeah, I did," Marina stammered through her words. "Not... a good one. It, uh-- yes, please, water's okay-- yeah. It messed me up for a bit. I'm getting over it, though." She cleared her throat. "What does that have to do with anything, though?"
He nodded slowly, pouring a glass from a silver pitcher, and slid it across to her. "Tibarn... filled me in some on that, when he initially justified your presence. It was... ruled, and destroyed by a dark god, was it not?" He frowned, his mouth a tight, creased line. "I... I feel like you must understand, more than anyone else, what is at stake here. Victory against Mordache, the forces of Loki... it's not just personal for me. Yes, I... I have to correct the mistakes my forefather made, but... You know what we face if he wins."
Marina blinked a couple of times, staring in silence. "Y-Yes, uh... yeah. Total darkness. The end of everything as we know it." She swallowed a lump in her throat and continued. "So... what do you need from me, sir?" At this point, she realized she was still awkwardly standing in the doorway, and she quietly let herself in. She took a seat opposite James and helped herself to the offered water. After taking a long sip, she set the glass down again and focused upon him, watching inquisitively.
The king inhaled, then exhaled slowly, closing his eyes. "I need someone I can trust out there to send me back information. I don't like sitting here quietly while others run off and die to protect my people." He shook his head, frowning. That sounded dumb, but it didn't make it less true. "Personally. Someone who knows... the signs. Someone paying attention to signs of Mordachean influence, or Loki's. The Mordachean connection to Loki... it hasn't been proven. That's what I want from you. I know that... could be difficult, Marina. And that it might be... particularly tough for you," he added. "But..."
"So..." She stared at him, not quite sure what he was asking of her. "Are... you asking me to go directly in and get intel?" Even Tibarn never would have given her such a dangerous assignment.
He shook his head! "No. Not in Mordache, certainly. I'm asking you to go into Sentria with Amir Khayri, and search for evidence among the enemy when you have the chance. It's not something I want to bring up to the court; there are those who are much happier believing he's dead. Artifacts, strange occurrences, anything that... rings a bell with you," he finished, shaking his head a bit more. "I trust you to recognize his influence. That's why I'm asking you to be my eyes."
"Oh." Marina had to stop and think about this for a moment. She was certainly good at picking out information, and even better at recognizing signs of chaos. But the odds had changed. This was responsibility on a level she had never been given before. This was her chance. She nodded slowly, taking another sip of the water before continuing. "Yes. I'll accept the mission. Is there anything else you need from me?"
Oh, yes, a sparring partner and someone who could sneak me into Sentria wait no that's stupid ha ha, no, that's just for when you're lying in bed wishing you could be somewhere else. "Just... one. Be safe. I don't want to hear about you getting yourself hurt." He closed his eyes for a moment, then sat up, exhaling. "And... you have my thanks, and my blessing." He dug through a drawer suddenly and produced a slip of paper, along with a small dish of wax. Using his signet ring, he stamped the wax, and then the paper, wrote a quick note, and folded it over before stamping it once more and sealing it shut. "There. Keep that hidden unless you need to prove your legitimacy to get access to something suspicious. I know you wouldn't want undue attention from jealous comrades or, you know, whatever," he said, standing up and offering her the letter, which would prove any claim she made to the position of Royal Inquisitor.
"I..." Her glance wavered to the letter, and she paused a moment before breathing deeply and taking it. "... Thank you, sir. Don't worry about me getting hurt. I've been through much greater." She turned to leave, pausing to give him a small hesitant smile. "You picked the right person for the job." With that, she tucked the letter securely away and left.
James watched her go, without a bow or a proper farewell to the king, and smiled a bit. "I like her," he said to no one, taking out another sheaf of paper-- correspondences from spies and compiled information on Sentrian nationalism and morale throughout the various small bandit-ruled cities.
Work is never done.

"Will do, Boss." Lance replied while extending his hand to shake Rath's. "It will be a pleasure to help."
As Rath made his leave, Lance made a quick check of his book to see his members. The mission in Sentria would be dangerous and high-risk, and the biggest success rate would be with the right people. The most experienced, skilled...the team would have to be picked carefully. He started by jotting down the names of people that really shouldn't come. Not because of incompetence in a lot of the cases, but more that they lacked that professional spirit he needed, some that he hadn't seen enough of them to build an opinion yet...
Oh, and that one incompetent cat.
After finishing, he jotted down one more name on the list, Innes, to be in charge of that certain group while he was gone, to make sure they wouldn't get themselves in trouble. After that, he could pick out the proper team to go with him.
After finishing, he turned to Khalid, who had obviously been there the whole time, giving him the note. "Khalid, can you tell the names on this list to meet me by the city gate in an hour? Tell them to prepare for a desert journey, and that we'll be gone for some time. Remind them to bring their cloak and badge with them too."
Nodding, his assistant rushed off to find the members. Lance went back to his room to prepare, quite confident in the team he picked out.
Unfortunately for him, he had given the wrong note to Khalid, who proceeded to fetch Innes, Rin, Venetia, Velkan, David and the newest addition, Julia.

~Valor is the contempt of death and pain.~Wallace Wallace smacked Sain in the back of the head when he started flirting with with Isadora. "Sain! Quit your flirtin' there's work to be done! I'm certain you haven't bought a sword yet what with your nonsense about how heroic lances look. Though a dinner does sound good. I'm gettin' a powerful hunger for some good food. The three of us should eat somewhere and discuss what we know about this development." Then her ran his hand through his lack of hair in thought. "Only problem is i don't know of any place to eat. haven't had the time to really explore the city what with being busy whippin' the army into shape. I'm not even going to ask you Sain, you'll probably take us to a brothel, Lady Isadora you've been here a while surely you know of a place to eat at?"~So, I'm to die in battle, am I? Isadora shook her head and tapped her fingers onto her forehead while the General gave the Paladin a smack. Same old Sain. Always after the women while being chivalrous. Does it mean she have to spar with him again to teach him some manners? And she thought Kent would be able to restrain his manner.
When Wallace asked her if she knew a place to eat, Isadora let out a smile. "Well, we can eat at the Hostess Club. Their meals are quite delicious and they have music for you to listen. Of course, about half of their menu are pastries and desserts. I hope you don't have a problem about that unless you have a sweet tooth, but there are some meals that aren't desserts. Does that sound good to you, boys?"

Sain Ladies how about a lovely dinner? "OW!" Sain started rubbing the back of his head. "You didn't need to hurt me. I got a sword." He pulled out the brand new sword he bought. "I can't go a weapons shopping with out a nagging Kent voice in my head telling me to get a sword." He put the sword away as he then heard the next bit, which angered him. Accused of even knowing where a brothel was here.
"How dare you accuse me of going there!" He yelled, "A noble knight such as myself wouldn't go there just to get a cheap thrill! Sure I may flirt with them, but I would never do something so shameful! I was going to suggest the Hostess Club!" At this point Sain's face was red with anger. He looked away as he got on Homeros and trotted off to the Hostess Club. After all I am a noble knight of Caelin!
