"I'm sure Bruno's takin' care of them," Roch said with a shrug. "If I got to, I'll babysit for him or somethin' to pay him back later." He didn't look too bothered by the idea, although technically he'd never babysat anyone before. Well, other than Danny.
"Bye bye, Amphi!! Oh, and Roch, your chocolate!" Monica said, going back to the kitchen and coming out with a wooden crate. He took it, heading for the stairs.
"The entire crate?" Vegas complained. "At least give the ghoul a few of them," he called after them.
"Yeah, yeah, I will," Roch said as they left. Once they were outside he grabbed his skateboard, tying the rope to the truck and looping it around one of the boards in the crate before tugging it along behind him. He walked silently for a bit, getting out of hearing range. Then he looked at her.
"Is it just cuz I can sing?"

"Bruno is the large werewolf outside." She stated rather then ask. That was good to know....Especially if she was ever on the wrong side of town and he happened to be nearby. "Ah....I see." She nodded heading for the door when Monica called them back.
"Um...What is Chocolate? Is it like the pie? The pie was really good..." Amphi stared at the crate. Then again, she never really finished her pie because she was too busy listening to Roch and Vegas.
She waited as he jimmied his crate on to the plank with wheels, fidgetting as she looked around. When they started to walk though, the mermaid stayed close to Roch.
Close enough to hear his question in frown. She waited as she tried to sort her thoughts but honestly told him what she felt.
"yes and no....If your asking about why I want to be your friend." She looked down, "You did your best to tell me that you were wrong to be my friend, wrong side of the tracks, something to that effect." She smiled at him, "You so honest and kind Roch. Why wouldn't I at least want to be friends with you based on that. Its a bonus though....that you sing I suppose. Its hard to enchant a mermaid when singing is all I ever had." She stopped him though, stepping in front of the reaper to put a hand on his chest. "I can understand you reason not to because of Xiu....But I am not Xiu and you shouldn't treat me like her. I won't walk in your dreams, I won't invade your privacy more then a little um....stalking." She chuckled before stepping away. "So...Fresh start?"

"You're right," he admitted, shoving his hands into his pocket (the rope stuck out of it.) "Look, I'm gonna be even more honest," he told her. "There's a definite difference between you and Xiu. Xiu uh... well, I ain't sure you REALIZE this, but the way you... approach me," he said, trying to figure out how to put it, "it feels like... well... wantin' more than just friends." He looked down at the tiny little mermaid, wondering how to put it.
"See, you... it's just..." He moved forward, just a little. "I had a crush on Xiu," he said slowly. "But I never felt ATTRACTED to her. Never wanted to kiss her, to play with her hair. Nah, I was happy draggin' her all over the place and play songs for her. I ain't that guy no more, Amphi," he told her. "And even if you unconsciously come onto me like that, there's a definite chance I'm gonna start thinkin' about wantin' more. Understand?"

Amphi continued to c**k her head at Roch, wondering what he meant by the way she approached him. It was...more forceful then she had with anyone else but she saw no underlining meaning besides the fact that she wanted him to stay...Put.
She didn't back away though as he moved on, glued to his side like a mermaid barnacle before frowning. "Crushes are not bad...or good as Thana says." She tapped her lip thoughtfully, unsure just how act around the boil now. "Kissing is special after all, It's not bad that you didn't want it to be anything less." She blinked again, "I did not realize that playing with hair is not acceptable either." Probably best to not mention that she did in fact love her being played with, Ys and Lizzy an attest to that as they had played with her long locks often. Nor would she mention that she was quite fascinated with False's long hair as well.
Again, these things didn't register to be anything more then friendly gestures. Unless like Thana said, they were meant with meaning behind them. She frowned as she thought of the Moira reaper. She would too have to ask him about situations like these, especially since she was his. Another thing she probably shouldn't mention to the Grim Reaper, because if that idea scared her off from being her friend, she'd be pretty sad.
"I don't think I really understand." She bit her lip as she remembered the conversations leading up to here. "You...Are you attracted to me Roch? Is that why a friendship might be hard between us?"
The thought of ANYONE being attracted to her made her face flush with embarrassment. While for a brief time, Mac had said he was interested, he was just using her for a replacement for Lizzy. Was there any attraction then? How was this any different?
Oh Thana would not be pleased with her if she went around getting attracted or attracting people. Even if she had no idea that she was doing it.

"Playin' with hair is fine, I guess," he admitted, thinking about it. "But what I'm tryin' to say is-- yeah, I guess that about sums it up. I'm attracted to you." Other than the fish tail instead of the butt thing. But she had a butt now, which solved that problem as far as the idiot boil was concerned. "I don't want another one sided thing, Amphi. I don't want to start thinkin' of you as more than you think of me."
But this seriously wasn't the place to have this conversation, he thought, grabbing her hand and tugging her. "Let's go back to school to discuss this," he told her. "This might be like home for me, but it ain't for you."

"I thought so. I like to play with hair as well though. If you play with mine then I will play with yours." She pointed to his mohawked purple do and smiled easily enough. "ah..." She defenitly flushed though at his clear admission. it was so straight forward and...soon and...straight forward. Goodness.
"another one sided?" She frowned, "But we can be friends." She stated....stubbornly. "I think of you as a friend to be. So you should do it." She squeaked though, hand tightening.
"Okay...Home then. But then...I will come see you again to talk to you about this more!" She frowned more too.

He gave her a disgruntled look. "Seriously, am I going to have to threaten to kiss you to get you to go away?" It had worked with Xiu! He hardly saw her nowadays and he NEVER saw her in his dreams!

Amphi blushed but her hand tightened on his hand.
"You won't kiss me because your too nice and if you did....I'll still come back. EVERYDAY. and I will demand songs....and this chocolate pie. And things." She lifted her head, meeting his bluff. "We....are....going...to...be....friends....Roch."
And then her flush deepened more. Obviously no was not in her vocabulary. Odd for a mermaid who never put herself out there before.

"I'd do it!" he told her. "I ain't THAT nice! And you'd go running home to Lizzy or someone else and tell them what a jerk I am, then I'll kick their jackin' asses, and then when you came back I'll do it again!" he threatened. Okay, so this was a little funny. More than a little funny. It was probably one of the funniest conversations he'd had in weeks. Plus, they were out of the bad part of town now, so he wasn't that worried.

"I...I don't think you would!" Amphi's voice squeaked a little higher, "I would do no such thing! Lizzy trust me to handle myself and I am a big mermaid. If you kiss me then...then...Thana says I should kick you THERE." she pointed her finger in between his legs and frowned. "But I don't want to do that because he says it hurts a lot." She put her hands on her hip. "You would not either. You can't scare me off with these silly little threats."
Now she tilted her head up, looking him straight in the eye. "You wouldn't because you ARE too nice Roch."
Yes. Because Amphi knew the boil so well so far.

"I got a cup," Roch said. "Screech, there is NO WAY you can kick harder than Hel can, either. Plus, it ain't fair if I warned you ahead of time, you know. I say 'You do this and I'll do that,' so you KNOW how to avoid it happening--which takes away nutcracking right, understand?"

Amphi blinked.
"Hel taught me to fight so...so you shouldn't underestimate me!" She continued to keep her hands on her hip and lip puckering out.
"It is fair! If you do, then I am going to do it and then where will put us hmmm?" She poked a finger in his chest. "If you don't kiss me then you have nothing to worry about do you Roch." She waited a beat..."Plus kisses are special. They really are. You shouldn't use them for threeats."

"But they're the best threat I can use against you," he told her plainly. "Cuz obviously I can't hurt you, and a kiss doesn't hurt, see? But it's enough to make you NOT do things BECAUSE you think kisses are special. It works! Nobody gets hurt, you just get frustrated, and I get what I want!" He seemed quite satisfied with the situation when he put it that way. "And the world keeps spinning."

"It is not! Because...Because they're are worst things...or something." She didn't like his logic and this would continue to attempt to argue her point.
Which she wasn't sure what she was arguing now.
"Well yes! You could hurt me but see, it's cause you kind." She smiled with some sort of satisfaction, "And Nice boils don't threaten to kiss ghouls to keep them away unless they won't really did it. So your....your argument is invalid. I will keep coming to see you until you call me your friend too."
"And then I get what I want." Her eyes narrowed, "World doesn't spin....does it?" she frowned, thought distracted again from their conversation.

He looked at her. They were well on the path to the school by this point, and there was no one around. There was a slightly strange tilt to his lips as he studied her in the moonlight for a long moment.
"If I WAS as nice as you thought I was, I woulda never thought to threaten you in the first place, but I just did," he pointed out. "And unlike you, I don't think of kisses as somethin' that needs to be hoarded and only given out on special occasions, so..."
He leaned down, his hand going to her chin. "Sure I'd kiss you," he said, his eyes staring straight into hers. "Especially if it got me what I wanted."
