He frowned at Paris's confirmation that he was, in fact, privileged. Well, it was more like a pout, but a manly pout. Or something lame like that.

Of course he knew he was better off than others, but that didn't mean he liked being judged right off the bat! He was a human being, too! His inheritance was just as unchosen as everyone else's was. And so, Chris grumbled to himself about how it wasn't so much of him to ask that people give him a chance. He was a nice guy! He'd been told that on countless occasions! Mostly by his parent's friends and such, but still. Being told he was a nice guy by peers usually meant he was auto-friend zone, which did nothing good for his ego, so he tried to ignore the down side to 'being nice'... although he couldn't see the appeal in 'bad boys' or whatever... but that was a different story entirely.

Chris didn't bother putting on any kind of shoes, not seeing the need since all they were doing was going out the back and to the beach. Sure, if they were walking near the dunes then their sandals would protect them from sand burrs, but he wasn't planning on that.

"Who said popular belief was that you're selfish?" Chris asked in wonder, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion as he turned back to Paris, surprised by his comment. He didn't think he'd ever thought of Paris as selfish. Or maybe the incident wasn't enough to make him remember it, but at that moment, he could only remember all the times in which Paris went out of his way to do things for him.

“Oh… well…” Paris began to respond, and paused to try and remember if anyone had ever said “you are a selfish b***h” to his face, but as his brain was focused on other things at the moment, only so many memories rose up as examples, so he simply shrugged it off as unimportant and said, “I did. But I always assume other people think it even if they don’t say it. There might have been a confrontation last year when Ladon and Billy first started dating where Billy called me despicable, selfish, heartless, ruthless,” he said, ticking each off on one of his fingers, “and I’m sure he’s thought worse but, you know, I can’t exactly read minds.”

He did, however, pride himself of his perceptiveness and his ability to read people, but it wasn’t always such a sure thing. A lot of the times he was still surprised.

“Anyway, that’s not really the point,” he said, rushing to cut off any questions his comments might have inspired. There was only so much he felt like talking about when it came to Billy. Mostly he restricted himself to the fact that the just didn’t like each other. He was very cautious not to mention or allude to the fact that they’d actually slept together once.

Somehow he thought that would only make the awkwardness between the four of them worse.

That, and Chris could be a jealous d**k when he wanted to be, and Paris wasn’t really in the mood to deal with that of all things when their relationship was iffy and they were supposed to be on a friendly vacation at the beach.

“The point is be nice, don’t feel awkward, don’t let our reactions get to you, and try to actually have fun,” he finished, slinging his tote bag over his shoulder and grabbing his sunglasses to perch them on his head, grabbing his can of Sprite as well as he turned for the door. “Now, as much as I don’t care if they think we’re in here having a quickie, it’d be kind of rude to make them wait much longer, so let’s go.”

He continued to frown, not sure he liked the fact that Billy had been calling Paris such things, for whatever reason. It was a little difficult to just ignore that and not let it bother him when it was obviously bothering Paris somewhat.

Either way, he made his way to the door once it seemed as though Paris was ready to do, but froze to stare at him at his suggestive comment. ".... Did you?" he couldn't help but ask, although he quickly flushed red at the thought of Paris's reaction. Obviously he was just joking about it. And he was right that Ladon and Billy were waiting, and it would be rude, and their relationship was kinda strange at the moment, but...

It couldn't hurt to ask, right??

Chris opened his mouth to try and explain himself, but was cut off by the sound of feet in the hall, and he reluctantly opened the door to step out, grabbing his can of soda as he did so. He looked awkwardly from Paris to the other two, before quickly leading the way down the stairs. "If you're ready, let's head out then?"

He would just distract himself by making sure they had snacks and drinks to bring with them, so they wouldn't have to keep making trips back up to the house.

While Paris and Chris were taking their time in Chris' room, Ladon was holding Billy's hand and sticking close to his side, and was idly checking the buttons of his shirt to inspect the larger sliver of skin the open shirt provided. Billy was a button-up sorta guy, and sometimes Ladon liked to see him shirtless from time to time. It was rare and that made it interesting.

When the door clicked open, Ladon shot to stand beside his boyfriend, and then nodded bashfully. "Yeah. Let's." He said, and followed them down the steps (They didn't even creak!) and glanced to Paris - or more specifically what he was wearing. "I can't believe you can wear that." The fact that it wasn't saggy about the chest nor that Paris looked like he was in physical pain due to what Ladon felt would be a tight area around 'the boys'. "That color is horrible."

Paris rolled his eyes at Ladon as they followed Chris down the stairs.

“You’re so complimentary, Lady,” he sarcastically replied.

He tried not to let it bother him since it wasn’t like him to be sensitive about these things in the first place, but he was having a hard time brushing it off. At some point in recent months the things that had never concerned him had begun to creep up into his subconscious. Comments about his looks and what he chose to wear could not only put him on the defensive depending on who said it, but sometimes they even stung, especially if said comments came from the people who should already accept him.

“I wear tights on a regular basis,” he explained, “and if a swimsuit really shocks you, you should try Googling a dance belt. This is nothing. It’s not like I pick clothes up off of the rack and immediately pull them on. I get them altered to fit right.”

Paris stopped himself before he could say anything else, realizing he might have sounded somewhat snippy. Jesus, he couldn’t even seem to follow his own advice.

Taking a breath and letting it out slowly, Paris attempted to shrug the admittedly harmless comments off while trying to keep a firm grasp on his confidence.

“Do we just want to bring sandwiches or something with us?” he asked once they’d descended into the kitchen. He was pretty sure that had been their consensus earlier, but he supposed there wasn’t any harm in making sure. “I can go ahead and throw some stuff together if you guys want. Just tell me what you’d like.”

Billy raised a brow at the apparent snippyness Paris was showing towards his own friend. Maybe he had a headache too or something. Whatever it was, Billy wasn't gonna poke the grr-face buttons if he could help it. After all, he wasn't feeling too great himself. Best to maintain silence, and let everyone else figure out what they were doing. The scarred youth kept close to Ladon, a comfort if he felt particularly hurt by his friend's words.

In the kitchen he took a seat on a stool while they figured things out.

"I'm not complainy!" Ladon pouted, huffing at being called such a negative thing. "I was just saying it looks uncomfortable, and pink doesn't suit you." Pink didn't suit anyone. He knew Paris liked pink, but he was trying to convince the boy to another color. Anything but pink. Red. Orange. He didn't care what, but not pink.

Frowning, he followed them into the kitchen. "I guess sandwiches would be good. Seems a shame to go out to the beach and just head back after looking at it." Still, Chris had been driving all the way here.

"That is unless you all want to rest for today." He didn't want to tire everyone out. Billy had a headache too. It was just that the beach was right there, and the sun was bright. It was nice to be away from the city.

“Pink suits me just fine,” Paris grumbled, more to himself than to his friend who he didn’t expect to ever come around to his way of thinking. It wasn’t worth arguing about anyway. Alright, actually, to Paris there was a lot that was worth arguing about, but that wasn’t the point of them being here. They were here to have a good time, to have fun and be young and live life and all those good things they didn’t necessarily get to do in the city.

So he continued to go about trying to ignore his dissatisfaction, heading to the refrigerator once they were back in the kitchen. He passed off his can of soda to Chris for a time being, then went about grabbing a cooler and loading it with ice before packing up some of the sandwich meats and bread rolls and condiments to take out with them. Ladon was at least right about one thing: it would be such a shame to get outside and then come right back in for some lunch.

After grabbing a couple of utensils and adding them to his collection of meal items, Paris turned again and, with Chris at his side, led the way out the back door, over the dunes, and out onto the private stretch of beach at the back of the house.

He took a deep breath of the salty air in an effort to settle his nerves, bending over to remove his flip-flops soon after in order to sink his feet into the warm sand.

Wealth might make him uncomfortable depending on the situation, but it had it perks and he was slowly—and with some effort—learning to enjoy them. There wasn’t another person around for as far as he could see, just a few boats in the distance out on the water. Normally he wouldn’t have minded the typical beach crowds, but the solitude that came with the Gallos’ coastal getaway was appealing in its own right. Whether or not their guests were used to such a large house and obvious displays of money, Paris hoped they could at least enjoy this part of it—the peace and quiet, and the privacy, almost as if the four of them were the only people to exist in all the world.

“Welcome to paradise,” he joked, and then announced with a contented sigh, “If I didn’t have s**t to do back home, I think I’d like to stay here forever.”

Paris turned his face up to the sun as he continued down the sand, before finally coming to a stop to set the cooler and his tote bag down, digging inside his bag to take out the towels he’d packed in order to spread them out over the sand.
