[11-9] + [14-10] = 6/2=3 + 2 = 5 DMG
Ryuu's thick hide was enough to save him from the attack. It was still a powerful one and the pokemon looked at his opponent calmly. He was a slow pokemon compared to the Sneasel but he could hopefully hold it off. He saw Riku motioning towards him and glanced at the pokemon wearily. Was this really the chance? He had no choice but to step back.
The girl stepped forward and pulled out a pokeball. Hoping to be able to catch it, she sent it soaring towards the pokemon's head!

((I will point this out. Hail DMG is entirely separate from attacks. There is absolutely no need or reason to be adding it to to damage calculation like that.))The ball would sail through the air, and with a tremendous amount of luck strike the Sneasel square upon the forehead. Slightly dazed the Pokemon would be drawn inside the sphere, the light flashing red then white, producing a light tone before it even struck the snow. [RIKU CAUGHT A SNEASEL!][Jingle~!] Sneasel [F]

((Oh, I know. I just did it because it made things a little easier.)) Riku stepped forward, glancing at Ryuu. That had been a close one. Shaking her head slightly, she then went and picked up the pokeball. The pokemon was definitely unique as she clipped it to her belt along with the rest of the balls. As she glanced at it, she glanced at the path behind of them. It was time for them to head back. The pair needed to heal Sir Aiden and everyone needed to be at full health before they were able to go to the place she needed to be. She turned to Ryuu before starting to make the way back the way they had come. The town they had left most likely haad a PokeMart along with the PokeCenter.

So far, so good. The girl could still see their footprints in the snow and the hail wasn't too bad. It seemed to fall a little more lightly outside of battle. She was glad, not wanting a repeat of the huge ice balls that had fallen. The girl kept through the snow, remembering another time when she had to trudge through it with a broken leg. At least this time, she wasn't harmed in any way. She had Ryuu with her and the two would be okay at the moment. The Guard member did wonder what she would have to do to find the engineer she was looking for.

Slowly as if upon the wind, a series of pine needles would begin shaking upon the branch. From deep with a pair of deep set eyes would watch the child as she proceeded down the mountainside. So the hero had been defeated; and now it was time for her ward to step up to the challenge...

Riku glanced around, feeling like there was something watching her. The girl's brown gaze flickered over the area but nothing popped out or attacked. Shrugging off the feeling as paranoia, she just glanced at Ryuu. When he didn't seem at all alarmed, she just continued to walk back to the village. Things were just strange.. She padded through the snow, feeling glad that she always wore a nice thick jacket and she had a hat and scarf to keep her nice and warm.

Riku would soon find her paranoia to be well founded, although not from the direction she'd been expecting!
Snow would fly as a small furry body burst out of the snow, nose raised skyward and inquisitively sniffing the air. Briefly, the small creature would squeal before moving in the child's path.
It was a Swinub, barely a footrest in size, but fully intent on blocking her path. Briefly the Pokemon's stomach growled. He smelled food on the girl, or at least something he considered to be. A greedy little piggy, he was more then willing to pick a fight to make it all his own!

Riku sighed. Of course, they couldn't be expected to be able to just walk back into town. She could see the village not far off. Should she run or battle? The girl glanced at the pokemon and then looked at Ryuu. Well one battle wouldn't hurt him.. Besides he did need more experience.
Ryuu stepped forward, glancing at the Swinub. He was a little surprised the pokemon had approached them. It wasn't exactly a breed known for violence or anything. Taking up a defensive position in front of Riku, he simply watched and waited. What was it looking for?

Fur rustling slightly as the Swinub shook his entire body, the Pokemon would begin sniffing the air around him, producing a very apparent snorting. With each renewed sniff the hairy hog would reposition himself, the small prints left by his feet being immediately brushed away by his fur. Once the Swinub had found a suitable position, he charged. Head down, nose still sniffing the ground, the snow dusted swine threw his weight forward in a full body Tackle aimed straight for Ryuu!

Ryuu glanced at Swinub as it came charging. He thought he could brace against it's attack as he stood there digging his legs into the ground. The pokemon managed to push him back a couple inches but he was okay. The Larvitar glanced at the pokemon, wearily. Charging forward, he opened his maw aiming to Bite the furry boar like creature.

Sniffing the air tentatively, the Swinub immediately and rather visibly baulked. Apparently the Larvitar had never quite heard of a breath mint. Fur practically standing on end from the smell, the Swinub would dart with surprising speed to one side, his steps carrying him quickly over the snow where the much heavier Larvitar would find himself sinking with every step.
Still the Hail continued to fall...

Ryuu missed completely with his attack. The Swinub moved surprisingly fast and the Larvitar was sinking deeply into the snow. Struggling for a couple seconds, he finally managed to sink only partially. This was indeed a tricky battle as the hail suddenly battered him. The Larvitar began digging into the snow tossing it up into the air while running back and forth. Hopefully the snow would help cover him so that the rock pokemon would be harder to target.

Only an instant later the Swinub would prove the fault in the Larvitar's startegy, placing his nose briefly to the ground, then raising it to the air. Seeing the Rock-type was never the hog's intent, assuming it even could through all that hair. This entire time the Swinub had been following the Larvitar's scent, and unfortunately for Ryuu snow didn't exactly carry a unique smell of it's own.
For a time the Swinub would just stand there, continuously sniffing the air as he tried to pinpoint the Rock-Type. Once he was sure of the direction, the little pig would charge forward head first into the fray. He was going to bowl over Ryuu with a Tackle!

The Larvitar managed to avoid the Swinub entirely. The pokemon had searched for him but been unable to find him. The rock type saw that the Swinub had charged in the opposite direction. As soon as it had missed, he charged forward aiming to Bite down on his opponent!

Halting, the Swinub would begin sniffing the ground slowly. Pine Needles, a few much have gotten stuck to his opponents feet and backside during the fighting. They'd thrown him off the first time, but not for long. Especially not with the racket the Larvitar was making as it came up behind him.
Snorting slightly, the Swinub took off in the opposite direction of Ryu, his steps taking him rather easily across the snow.
