Nolan nodded once more, and again glanced at Chael, speaking to both of the trainers now, "I'll meet you two out on the beach then. I'm just going to grab something to eat for later." Trotting over to the cafeteria worker, Nolan explained the situation and his plan, and got a few extra sandwiches to-go. As well as a package of hot dogs, buns, and marshmallows out of all things. They were shaped like Jigglypuff which Nolan thought was hilarious, and he was going to enjoy skewering them and roasting them over the fire. Stuffing the goods into his bag, he thought again about switching around his team, but having seven obviously made it an issue. Who was going to sit out on the fun? But then he had it, even if it seemed like the cruelest choice, but then Nolan knew exactly how to make it up to Valor later. The Gleam lion was the easiest to please, just so long as their was lots of attention. So Nolan deposited Valor, and wanting to be the first to the beach, went out to brave the sun and elements of the desert. Following his map, he headed Southwest straight for the small cove. And there certainly was more rocks than sand, but the beach was nice, the waves alright, and the water cool and salty. "Alright, Dosu! Enjoy!" Tossing his Repeat Ball up high, the Gyarados formed in a blaze of light, and splashed down in the water, roaring in delight. Immediately he started for deeper water, moving effortlessly with a splash of his tail. Nolan let the rest of his team out, all six minus Valor, and it felt weird without his electric cat. Setting up a half-tent with a stick and his tarp to shield him from the worst of the sun, he threw his things under it, his bag, his coat, and sat himself in the shade. His pokemon went exploring nearby for shells and pretty stones, splashed in the waves, and Nolan smiled to himself every time Dosu broke over the surf and crashed back down into ocean. Desiderio didn't really have a swimsuit, and going out without any sort of cover for his burns out into the beach in what appeared to be summer was downright suicidal. He supposed there was time for improvisation. And so, he lost the shirt and rolled up his pants up to the knees and the deed was done. The cloak would still cover up his burns, thankfully. However, because the cloak did open from the front, it was still possible for someone to see the extent of how far the burns went (which was pretty far). This was beach-wear enough, right? After swallowing his medication (man he was going through these fast...), he headed outside. Nolan was already out here, with his Pokemon playing around on the beach and Dosu in the water. With a small wave to the boy, he walked down towards the water and plucked Jaws's ball from within the cloak. He tossed the ball out towards the water, a beam of red releasing the Water-type inside the water so that Nolan couldn't see what it was before the ball came back. "Have fun, but don't cause too much trouble." he said casually to the shark before the underwater shadow disappeared, venturing out into deeper waters where it had more room. Des then pulled a frisbee out from within his bag and let out Blue. The wolf saw the disc and immediately barked, wagging his tail. Frisbee time yay! And with a toss, the wolf tore off after the flying disc. It would not be long before Jaws's shark fin would make itself noticeable in the waters. 80

Post 305 CoverFossil: 23 Chael would return soon enough, letting Pokemon run rampant. Argos jumped into the water, keeping to under the water's surface. "Go on guys. Have fun." Chael said as he got down, pushing some sand together. Argos didn't make a big splash like Dosu, but he seemed to be enjoying himself. Fear would dash around, picking at sea shells, only to be splashed by Tsuki who up and splashed Hikari as well. Who was now being angrily chased by the girls. The ladies just couldn't stay away from him.~ Then he saw it. His pace picked up faster as he saw the shiny disk being thrown by Lukas. So shiny! His trainer scoffed. "Obnoxious." was all he said, still working on his castle. He had a faint green substance rubbed on his exposed parts. Aloe. It was a good substitute for sunscreen and was common in the desert. Tasty too. Waving back, Nolan had to stifle the snicker when he first saw Des's version of a swimsuit. Although it would work well in a pinch, and offered a layer against the sun and was light enough to fight the heat. Nolan was stripped down just to his black undershirt and his pants, but he stayed in the shade he made. Also, he glanced towards the water to try to make out what was out there, and once he saw the ominous fin break the surface, he was glad his pokemon were sticking to the shallows. Well, Dosu would be fine. The Gyarados was one of the scariest things out there, if not scarier than Jaws. Yawning one more time for lack of sleep, now Nolan shaded his eyes to watch Des start playing a friendly game of catch with Blue. Naturally Nolan noticed much more of the burns along Des's body and rather quickly despite the half cloak, another twinge of empathy making his heart sink. That had to be horrible. He banished the thoughts of pity from his mind as quickly as they came. But a frisbee, what a great idea. Nolan now knew exactly how he'd make it up to Valor later. He'd buy a toy just for the Gleam lion. It might make the others jealous, but that was a risk he was willing to take. Speaking of jealous pokemon, Servine trotted over to Nolan after she had splashed herself with sea water to cool down. Her leaves a vivid green from the bright sunlight, Servine watched Nolan critically until he noticed her. "I haven't forgotten about you." He said quietly. "Will you train with Ninjask? I bet he'll even give you a run for your money in speed." Sevine scoffed, but half-heartedly, her gaze flickering over to the Ninja Pokemon. She couldn't help but have noticed how fast that dirty bug had gotten since he had evolved. Slowly she nodded, begrudgingly, but she agreed. Soon Ninjask and Servine were running a small agility course. Nolan was still in the process of building obstacles out of rocks he moved, adding circles of seaweed for targets, and driftwood to dodge between. Ninjask had it all, speed, style, and guile, expertly maneuvering past anything Nolan could throw at him. Well, Nolan would have to consider something else to help train the bug, but all this was driving Servine crazy. She was supposed to be the fastest, the most agile, the most clever, and she took it hard, doing everything she could to keep up with Ninjask. She was soon working incredibly hard, pitting against the flying bug, and land-bound, was always a few steps behind. But she wouldn't give up. By one point, Nolan wasn't even designing the course any more, Servine coming up with ideas of her own to challenge the bug. He ended up just pulling around rocks at her instructions, and at one point she was obviously snickering to herself after getting Nolan to do several laps. Servine knew her human could stand a little training of his own, and who better to do than her? But Servine and Ninjask soon got back down to their competition. And once it got to obstacles that the Ninja couldn't just fly or power through, Servine was beginning to win several of the races. Tuckered out, Nolan retreated back to his shade tent, and began to contrast and compare the two pokemon. Ninjask had more sheer physical power and speed, yet Servine, she had much more endurance when it came to using her strength. Ninjask could fly forever, and for that matter, Nolan rarely saw the Ninja ever land, except for when the obstacle called for him to crawl. Post 306 CoverFossil: 24 Eventually, getting bored, Chael dashed off to the water. Beforehand, he took off his socks, shoes, electronics, and shirt. Luckily he wore shorts. The salt water made his nose twitch. But he had an awesome plan. He needed to practice something with Argos. Whistling loudly, the gator brushed past him. He shuddered, feeling his cold scales. The boy had dreams of being stuck in the water with a monster when he was little. But at least he could trust this one. "Ok, practice time." he said, grabbing him by his shoulders, as they started to practice surfing. Argos wasn't big enough to ride in top of, but this would be ok until then. "Not that fast!" he called out, swimming back to his starter. Riding an alligator wasn't as easy as it seemed. Aiden would be goofing around, shooting fire at the castle Chael made. He was trying to make it turn into glass. Then it wouldn't be washed away! Sadly it failed, leaving a heated mush of sand, which he gladly got comfortable in. But Chael found that quite fitting for a mouse like her. Speaking of him. He kept failing at holding on to Argos, taking face dives into the water more often then not. It didn't take long for Nolan to doze off while he was watching the other trainers, his pokemon, and just watching the few rare desert clouds drift past. Servine had already taken over for her own training, Ninjask just as stubborn as she when it came to speed. Each had their own strengths and weaknesses, but neither of them wanted to admit that maybe the other was better. Nolan thought they were both fantastic, but he was also fast asleep, dreaming about a giant Fire Stone in place of the sun. Post 309 CoverFossil: 27 Chael got out of the water, fingers all wrinkly. Argos chuckled to his trainer. He didn't know he wasn't meant to be an ocean dweller like he. Feeling evolution coming soon, Argos fled to the deeper parts of the water. Yawning, Chael laid himself down in his back, taking in some rays. After a bit he got up and found some shade behind a boulder, conveniently placed there. His Pokemon were enjoying themselves, some more than others. That being Tsuki, who was making himself comfortable next to his trainer. Post 310 CoverFossil: 28 Chael started to doze off, Tsuki sitting comfortably on his lap. Still being pet. He yawned as he started to take a nap. They were going to walk around during the night so sleeping in was required. Hard work, mind you. Work, determination, and- screw it, he felt like being a little lazy today. He had been training non stop for almost a week now. Argos managed to stall his evolution yet again, as it seemed. He bought himself a little more time now at least. Being underwater hid the light so he should be ok if there weren't any scuba divers. And if there were... the water could hide blood. But back from that morbid thought! When Nolan meant to take a break and relax, he certainly did it with gusto. Servine scoffed at him sleeping over there without a care in the world. Deciding for herself she was going to take a break while Ninjask rearranged and built the next obstacle course for the race, Servine watched Chael half drown himself attempting to surf with his pokemon. 'That would be easy if you just evolved.' She snapped at Argos. 'What are you waiting for anyway? It's not like you can get any uglier.'Servine snickered to herself, feeling rather safe up on the beach and perfectly capable of defending herself from an overgrown lizard. He still had Ice Fang, which she might remember being frozen by. He would've barred his fangs if Lukas wasn't awake as well. Were all female starter lizards so annoying? First that infuriating Charmander and now this snooty Servine. Tsuki merely shuddered as he lay on his unconscious trainer's lap. Now there were two of them. 'Hicky, watch out. Two bossy people trying to boss each other around.' Tsuki said, only to have the Eevee give chase. 'Geez, what's with you and chasing me?' he called out, dashing around. He didn't understand what was wrong with his new nickname, Hicky. Which was short for Hikari! What, did both of these kids seriously fall asleep out in the sun? Well, there was shade for now. He was tempted to go remove their shade to let both of them have horrible sunburns as a lesson not to sleep out on the beach without some sort of protection, but that was too much work and he wasn't feeling up to it anyway. He instead waded out into the water to about thigh-height, trying to bait Jaws to come close so that he could call the shark back. The Water/Dark-type was having way too much fun, terrorizing the local school of Remoraid and other small Water-types that lived in the area.
