Safira De'Garr

User ImageSafira watched the man walk ahead as she arranged for a room. She planned to be out by early morning, but there was no reason not to have a soft place to lay her head. Once it was arranged she went up to her room. The man couldn't be annoyed with her, as annoyance was an impossibility. But, then again, so was eagerness. His entire life must be ruled by logic. She thought.

She turned over the idea in her head. Emotions were what made life decent. But they were also what made life miserable. And for the last 8 years, her life had been misery. She wasn't depressed enough to seek to end her life, but what if she could end her emotions? The idea was sounding better the more she thought about it. She paced in her own room for several moments. She was nervous about it. Which, oddly enough, made her want it all the more. She'd never be nervous or afraid again. When she was certain about this, she walked back out. It took a couple moments of asking before she could find the man's room. She knocked, feeling slightly jittery.

Once in his room, Chris first undid his cloak and sat it and the claymore off to the side. Looking at what he had available in the room, he shrugged to himself as he took a seat on the side of the bed. For a long time, he sat there in silence and in a sort of subconscious state. The knock on his door, however, snapped him back to attention as he took a stand. Walking over to the door and opening it, he found the female there once more. Staring at her for a moment, he then stepped aside allowing her to enter.

Safira De'Garr

User ImageShe couldn't tell if he'd been expecting her or not, but she walked in anyway. "I don't have much to say." She said bluntly. "I was just thinking...what's it like? Being emotionless?" She felt like a giant ball of energy. She didn't know how she was going to get to sleep. She could go around about it in her head, but he lived it. He could think through it logically and give her an honest answer. Although she was already leaning in one direction.

Once she had entered, Chris closed the door behind her and listened to the immediate, yet blunt, comment. Leaning his back against the door frame, his gaze on her head and his stance calm, he thought it over through his head. What was it like to be emotionless? He... never really thought about it. He just was. But, from the way she seemed to be acting curiously, he supposed a lack of answer wouldn't get her off the topic.

"It's what it sounds like," he replied as he remained where he was. "Emotionless... You can't hate or love, you can't feel sadness or happiness... You simply don't care about what happens around, or to, you. In fact, the only reason you even do anything at all is from the original curiosities you had instilled in your mind. If you were out for revenge and lost your emotions along the way, you would still go on with it. The difference is, you wouldn't feel anything from it."

User ImageShe couldn't tell if he was trying to convince her otherwise or just speaking truthfully. You can't hate or love. She'd lost everything she loved years ago and no one knew had come along to rekindle any feeling of affection. She had plenty of hatred but after a while it felt like bathing in fire. You were never at peace. Not caring also sounded like a good idea. The only revenge she ever wanted she already had. And she got no peace from that either. "So I could still follow goals without my emotions?" The intrigue was doing nothing to calm her excitement, but it gave her focus.

But how to go about doing this? If it was common dengen she would have heard about it before. She doubted there was any sort of library in Aroch that could give her the answers. Fortunately Aroch wasn't the standard for the rest of the world. There were other cities with bigger libraries and archives. Teachers and scribes who knew about all sorts of dengen. It wouldn't be easy, but it was doable. She could continue her vigilante ways without her demons hounding at her heels.

"Only if your personality makes it possible to keep the goal with only logic," e replied bluntly. He had already guessed at this point what she was oping to accomplish with this. It didn't particularly bother him, really. But, unlike him, she was willing to lose her emotions. He wasn't given a choice. "Well, if you ever find the answer to this problem you have decided to throw upon yourself, let me know. It might be interesting to find a way back to my emotions."

User ImageSafira couldn't speak for her personality in that sense. She was pretty sure there was a time she could be logical, but it was vague and fading with every year. It was beginning to feel like she'd never been anyone else but Fire. She hoped taking away emotions would be enough to revert her back to her previous state.

"I'll be sure to look you up." She said dryly. She didn't even know the guy's name, not that it was important. It was apparent he wanted his emotions back, even if the apathy made it difficult to enthuse. If she found a way to reverse it, so much the better. She could try it out and turn it back if it didn't work out. She headed back to her room, her head full of plotting.

And with that, the female left Chris' room after giving a rather dry comment to him. Watching her head off down the hall, he partially wondered if this would be the last time he would see her. Chances were, she was a traveler as well and thus their paths would easily separate. Despite this, it would have been... useful to know her name, in the event that they crossed paths once again. Most of him doubted this, but a tiny part felt that he would be dealing with her more often... Shrugging, he returned to his room, closing the door behind him and walking over to his bed. With all that was said and done, the wanderer sank into the sheets of the bed, eventually finding himself drifting off into slumber.

The middle of the night among the people of Aroch was no less a spectacle than that of the middle of the day, for the citizens were often either sleeping in a place where they were unwelcome or perhaps they were rather drunken and acting out of violent stupidity. Regardless of reason, the streets of the Iron Kingdom were always filled with something exciting.

As he passed by a rather torn man, one who appeared to have taken some nasty blows to the face, Do'Roelin made his way down to the apartment complex. Aside from the dim light of the torches placed about the street, the white haired man was illuminated by yet another source. Before his eyes, the appearance of a South Eastern Hemisphere compass was brightly shown, it's features appearing like moonlight as he deciphered their directions. They seemed to lead his worn boots onward through the grimy stone streets towards a collection of apartments, a complex which was rather poorly kept if he recalled.

The appearance of Do'Roelin was quite peculiar in these portions of the world, for he had quite light colored hair, seeming white in appearance, but his skin was darker than most of the Iron Kingdom, contrasting with the white and grey clothing he had dawned just the morning before. The man was a dengen master of the Okri Temple, one who had perfected several arts in the power of the mysterious energy, and was second only to one filled with the strength of a holy ground within them.

He was searching for something new, something which the master had never seen before. It was an affect named Erzelemmentes which covered all that occurred when a dengen cast became incomplete with peculiar outcomes. He had searched these affects before in order to extract them and create new powers, but unfortunately the long line of diligent questing had only brought him explosive backfires. This time however he felt it would be different.

Do'Roelin managed to find the complex he'd been looking all this time for. This one in particular was simply an inn for the passing traveler. Levitating to one of it's boarded windows, the master phased through the wall...

There were many nights that Chris slept a dreamless sleep, and some nights where the dreams were either too nonsensical or too forgetting for him to care enough to recall them. This dream, however, was one of the few that held any worth to him. It had always been a recurring dream... well, more like a nightmare to anyone but him, one that reminded him of the past. Regardless of how many times he had been through it, there was never any change to the outcome, though that was in no small part the fact that Chris only watched and never reacted. Why would he? The past couldn't be rewritten even if he had wanted to...

There he was as usual, standing at the blazing entrance of his mansion. From this spot alone, he watched as his mother, father, and his younger self tried to contend with that Dengen mage... And, as always, he stood there in silence as the mage seemingly struck his parents with little to no effort. The more he watched these events, as his younger self struck a mortal blow to the mage, he was reminded of how truly lucky he had been to even get that close... And then, the spell that cursed him to this day. He watched as his younger self fell to the floor, struggling with himself as the madness sank in. Then, as the mage passed away, the spell had prematurely ended, leaving Chris as the emotionless shell he was now. This segment of the dream would end as he watched himself walk away from the burning wreckage of his home, nothing on his face to show that he held any remorse, anger, or care for the previous events...

There was always more to the dream than that, always reminding him of the key moments of his past. Yet this night, he awoke far too early. It was as if he had only slept for perhaps 2-3 hours. And yet, he wasn't tired... he was cautious. There was a 'presence' in his room, the unmistakeable feeling of Dengen in the air... and it was strong. Without even looking up, the wanderer tumbled out of his bed, reaching the place where his claymore was resting at. Taking it into hand, he faced where he thought he had felt the Dengen emitting from. What it was, he didn't know...

"Ah...you've arisen." Do'Roelin announced happily as he stepped lightly towards the man. His white clothing seemed to glow in the dim lighting, but with a flick of his wrist the torches within the room were brought to life, casting away the eerie light of his attire.

It had taken the dengen master some time to discover which of the occupants of the inn was in fact the man he was looking for. He'd passed through the rooms of an old man who's breath was short but constant, a young woman who's appearance could be described in the same manner as fire, and now he found himself here. The compass he'd brought along had long since disappeared, for he knew it would not take long to discover the source of disturbance in his own dengen balance one he became close enough.

"It's odd..." The master continued to speak, his voice making emphasis upon every sentence. It was as if he were attempting to catch a role in a play, though in truth it was a combination of his own accent and that of this particular hemisphere. "Typical...when dengen leaves it's mark upon one, there are clear signs...yet I see none. Your figure is not disproportional...your skin remains of the usual hue...your height is not unheard of....what is your ailment?" He thought allowed. The white haired, and yet dark skinned man then stepped towards the wanderer once more reaching out a hand to poke at him.

Practically as soon as he was prepared for an attempt at combat, Chris found himself hearing the words of a male somewhat hidden in the dimness of his room. With a flick of the male's wrist, however, this immediately changed and the wanderer found himself facing against an individual. Dark skin, yet white hair and the choice of white clothing... and this sensation of Dengen. If Chris had been anyone else at this moment, he would have asked who this guy was, or whether he should even consider initiating anything with this male. But, because he was himself... he didn't care.

It was around this point where the male began to speak about something 'odd' with him. He was speaking about Dengen... Chris' Dengen... in such a way that should have been perplexing. What was this male after, one could have asked themselves. Yet again, Chris didn't, couldn't, care about that. "Ailment... I haven't a clue of what you're talking about," he responded in his usual monotone voice, raising to his feet with his blade pointed forward. If he had to fight this man for any reason, he would do so. But, as always, he would wait to see how it played out...

With the broad blade directed towards him, the dengen master halted in his tracks, the appearance of confusion upon his features.

"Well I'm sure it is present, for you are the only one which my compass reacted to for the past thousand miles." The man stated, bluntly pointing out that he'd been tracking this wanderer down. "Perhaps I should simply extract your essence....after all it appears that would be the only way to be sure I've got the Erzelemmentes." A smile appeared upon his dark features, as Do'Roelin stepped forwards still, though before the point of the blade could reach his skin the master thrust his left palm sideways towards the blunt of the weapon, striking it aside with a burst of dengen from his hand.

As he moved forwards, he put out his remaining hand, symbols glowing upon it brightly. "This may hurt, but I'm sure you'll be fine..." His voice carried the message with an apathetic tone.

In truth, Chris didn't particularly understand what this man was trying to say or achieve, though the end result was something he didn't care much about. As the man continued to speak, though, the statement of 'extracting his essence' came up... and the wanderer readied himself for battle. Before he could even make the notion of swinging his blade, though, a sudden burst of Dengen from the male's open palm collided with his blade. In a split-second, the weapon had been sent careening into the nearby wall, clattering loudly as it hit and then fell to the floor. The look on Chris' face was... the same as usual. Looking back at the male as he saw his hand glow up with symbols, Chris heard what the male had to say...

"...s**t..."
