Rojiza wriggles her feet as the chilly water slithers across her back. It's uncomfortable. It's so quick, so changeful. You never feel the same river twice. She doesn't like change. Nuh-uh. She grits her little teeth and bears it, though, for the sake of her onlooking Mother. She cocks her head at Voltaire as he mentions magic, though. She likes the sound of that, oh yes. Magic is shiny, sparkly, like the glass earbobs her mother has.

Annjette beamed at Kale, "Water not bad. Jus' cold. Warm up when you in it for a while." She knew the water was cold at least a little bit.

She patiently offers Kale her hand, "Go little more in water? Up to knees? It safe. Papa in water, Rojiza in water, I in water. Your mama an' Caroline close. Nothing happen. Promise. We go no deeper than knees, 'right?"

This would have to be equivalent of Kale's swimming lesson. Him getting over his apparent dislike of water.

Meanwhile Voltaire nods, "You have to relax for the the 'magic' to work. Now stop gritting your teeth and don't worry about your mother for now. She is right where she ought to be, closeby. " He was attempting to sooth Rojiza. Using a calm yet mildly stern voice. The water's coolness would sooner or later become a moot point. As far as constant change went he seemed to accept it, otherwise why would he be so unbothered by the water.

Rojiza tries to calm herself, tries to relax. She closes her eyes and breathes deeply and tries forget the unpleasant snakes of water. She listens to Voltaire's calm, deep voice and manages to relax a teeny bit.

Kale nodded, meekly. He closed his eyes and got into the water up to his knees. He didn't like it, but the rushing sensation was slowly becoming less intimidating. He tired to take another step, wobbled on his feet, and scampered back to shore in a panic. His mother laughed on the sidelines.

It was a start.

After a few moments Voltaire moved his hands an inch or two away from Rojiza and she floated!

"Ahh, see? You did it!" He said as he gathered her up again before the water could even consider carrying the girl away. The current was getting stronger for some reason.

"I think that is enough water for today little one. I'll carry you back to your mother."

Annjette giggled softly at Kale. At least he was trying to get deeper in the water. She glanced back and saw Voltaire and Rojiza heading out of the water. Annjette also had sensed a change in the currents. Which was odd. Perhaps the spirits of the water now wanted to be left alone for the rest of today?

Annjette swam and waddled out of the water, "It okay, Kale. We try again much later!"

Shivering now, Rojiza clings to Voltaire. She does, however, carry a sense of pride with her.
Caroline, safe on the grass, beams at her daughter. "You did it, querida!"

Voltaire wandered to Caroline and offered her child to her, "You may want to get her somewhere warm and comfortable fast. It is a bit chilly."

Annjette of course followed and added a bit of encouragement, "Rojiza an' Kale did good today." She hoped it would bolster both of her friend's egos a bit. Make them braver.

Voltaire grinned and nodded down at his daughter as he bent and picked her up after depositing Rojiza, "I think we all have earned a warm meal and a well deserved rest. Let us go back now."

He then turned and treaded back to the caravan carrying Annjette. Leaving the two mothers to heard and gather their own children in whatever way they felt was best or customary.

Rojiza nods and shakes and clings to her mother.
"See there, querida? Let's go home and get ye some dry clothes. You can curl up with yon wee buck if ye want."
Ro claps her hands, delightedly. She loves playing with Majesty. The two wander away back to their own wagon, smiling and nodding goodbye at Voltaire, Missa, and their respective children.
