-Nahumar-

Nahumar nodded slowly.
"It is not a problem. The last time I had a guest here was many years ago." Nahumar looked around his home. He noticed that night was approaching and it was the only time he felt a need to smile. For as it slowly turned darker, so did Nahumar's face. His white jacket was the only thing to outline his body. His eyes shifting quickly to a more yellow and orange tint, as if they were lights.
"The darkness is something that everything fears. It is the time with no light that could make anyone afraid. The thought of a strong Youkai coming and biting your head off. The thought of thieves cutting your throat. Any time I am exposed to this darkness, I am filled with glee. As the humans sleep, I emerge and take in the various sights, avoiding fire and light sources that could expose my position. You can say..." Nahumar narrated through the darkening night. And once he threw his jacket off and closed his eyes, he spoke once more in a playful like manner.
"I am everywhere when the sun can not pin me down." a tendon lightly tapped Ochiba as he never moved from his spot on the steps. Waiting for her reaction to his way of trying to scare her. Of course he was not that powerful. It was a clever way to use the most universal fear as his own camouflage. But once her reaction was over, two of the bugs changed to their normal form and placed themselves on either side of the shrine's posts much like a tree, glowing softly to illuminate Nahumar's position in a purple and blue tint.
"Of course, my little friends could help guide your gang to your home. They know every inch of the forest up to the lighter half. So escorting you through this thick mess is routine."

Ochiba gave the sligthest twitched smile,"W-well! I am used to being alone in the dark!" The rabbit said jumping to her feet,"And nothing can catch a quick rabbit- EEP!" She jumped a bit at the tendon poking at her, twisting to find the fear youkai,"Hey, no fair, I am blinder than most!" She chuckled though, watchig the purpler being go and begin to glow.

She pushed her glasses smiling already,"Things hide in the dark, but they aren't always bad things~ Oh and thanks! I could use the help," She turned to her companions,"Ready to go little ones?"

The rabbit youkai picked up her bag, smiling already~

-Nahumar-

Nahumar watched as his 'children' assumed a formation to help light every side. It was not too bright but bright enough to heighten her vision more and aware her of the surrounding land.
And as she would leave, Nahumar spoke to himself softly.
"I wonder if people still talk about the legend of the emotionless human?" He looked at the stars, his body still pitch black until the morning sun rose once more.
The story of the emotionless human spanned through four parts. It was a tale about one human who could never be happy, nor sad, nor scared. The legend went on that the human sought to find the three Youkai of Emotion.
The first one was known as a ball of light and full of joy.
The second was of a beautiful woman but was sadden by her fate of having no face.
The third told of a beast of pure fear, who's body is unidentifiable and is sometimes confused with a Nue.
Once the human met all three and heard their task, he or she sought out to obtain what they asked. The orb of light asked for a sunflower as tall as the human, untouched by bees. The Faceless woman asked for beads that have been lost in the Lake to remake her necklace. And the Fear asked for a strain of hair from a greater beast. In the end, the human would experience the joy of holding and looking at the sunflower, The sorrow and pain of loosing something you hold dear, and the fright of a near death for pulling the hair of a beast. In the end, the human returned and explained what he/she experienced. For if the human never experienced the emotion, they could never show it.

((Did not want to type out the whole tale. Just the short version. But trust me, it does sound better in the four parts.))

Ochiba waved good bye to Nahumar, she would talk to an old friend of hers, a young tengu from the mountain. Perhaps her friend would come and try her crazy stunts, but for now, she would head home happily.

Once they got to her house, the rabbit turned to the beetles,"Here is where I live, thank you for everything!" She opened the door of the tree, and ushered the bunnies inside.

((Oh, you can always do that, I can alway listen. I really like your charcaters xD))

-Nahumar-

The weird insects soon dispersed and changed their form once more, hiding in the trees like they always do. For they do not sleep, but rest as they wait. As for Nahumar, he took his time to enjoy the night like normal. It was the only time he could use his real image without anyone able to see his details. An image so horrific, only beings like the infamous gap youkai could live through his image. But unlike the day, night time is always shorter. And he had to savor every second he had before changing back.
"I wonder if the Hakurei Priestess is as tough as many claim? One day, i should challenge her to a duel." He thought to himself as he stretched whatever he had.

-Nahumar-

After much time looking through the forest and fighting back the fear that was approaching him, a lone human finally managed to break through the barrier that was surrounding Nahumar's shrine land. He was greeted by the weird purple rabbits that hopped away and around as if carefree. A voice rang through his head.
"Many of your kind have tried to reach this place and failed to prove their courage. You have earned every right to ring the bell before you." The human at first did not trust the voice, but he was not going to back down now. He faced many of his own fears and he was confident. He walked to the bell and placed a firm hand on the exterior. It made a low ring that echoed through most of the dark forest. One that has not been heard in years. It was soothing to hear, despite the volume. That is when Nahumar finally showed himself to the human.
"You have done the impossible, human. With that single ring, your might has been tested. You now have the option of going back in the forest or...trust me and bring you to the lighter part of the forest." Nahumar extended an arm out. Trust was one major action towards fear. For trusting someone whom has been devoted to being your friend could be frightening to know it was all but a trick. The human looked back at the forest. He noticed the eyes. So he took his chance and grabbed Nahumar's hand.
Nahumar enveloped the human in his black void that would put him to sleep with ease. When in reality, he would be escorted out by his 'children' and dumped in one of the more opened part of the forest.
Nahumar cracked open another cacao pod and feasted on the beans inside. His claws doing all the work.
"It's not often I hear the bell's chime. Such a wonderful sound..."

This time around she had a camera. Perfect for the youkai of emotions, this time she would get some epic pictures. Today she wore ligther clothes, she had heard of the mare and what it hid, so if she had to, she would be ready to fly and fight. Her nodachi strapped to her back, camera strung around her neck and the notebook strung to her waist, Maemi was ready to do some journal-ing!

The tengu flew easily over the forest of magic, scouring every inch to find the location of the legendary bell. She had done her homework, there was a few reports with the location of said site, and it was time to get to finding it. It took her most of the evening, but the reporter found the location at long last.

Kenkaku landed at the begining of the long staircase to the bell. "mh." She begun to walk up to the ancient looking relic.

-Nahumar-

Nahumar felt a presence he was not familiar with. And it was the kind he hated most.
"What business do you have in the Mare, Tengu?" His tendons looked more like sharp spider legs as they seemed ready to rip her in two. But they were only long enough to be slightly longer than his arm.
His eyes gleamed like yellow gems. He dared not use his visions just yet. It was only a Tengu and many of them now are reporters to himself.

Maemi jumped a bit turning around to face Nahumar, seemed like the youkai wasn't happy with her. "Ah sorry, I am a reporter," The tengu said,"I was just here looking for the mare."

She looked around,"Seems i got the right place... I was looking for the youkai if fear..." She blinked,"I saw you at Sorina's cave, she told me you where kiving in the forest and I decided to come take a look."

-Nahumar-

Nahumar continued to glare at the Tengu before sighing and giving up. He retracted his tendons and sat on the top step once more.
"The Mare is the only real home I have in this world. Not many can find this place without aid of magic or just born a Youkai. The day Gensokyo was made, this place was sitting here as if calling for me. The shrine itself was covered in moss and vines. The poor thing was forgotten by man, and I took the liberty of cleaning and preparing the bell while holding a challenge for humans without any special powers. That if they pass my trials, they have the right to show their courage by ringing the bell. Since then, only a few individuals over the lifespan of the land have ever set foot here. Males. Females. All humans. The Mare was the name I gave this place. The land I took and claimed as mine from the start." Nahumar noticed his little ones gathering close by the Tengu. Still in the rabbit disguise.
"I am Nahumar. Youkai of Fear. The very embodiment of fright. The cause of your spine's chill." Nahumar grinned. A reporter who wanted to find the Mare. She would learn more than what this place is. Perhaps, why Hanalli said Nahumar was the strongest out of the three.

Maemi looked down as the cute bunnies gathered around. They were purple. Picking the camera up, she knelt down and took two or three pictures of them. It was obvious from the sheer way she moved about her work that she was much different than the other reporters.

"Your home?" She took now the book to write notes on it. Since she didn't wear the arm guard on her right arm she wrote much quicker and comfortably, now both hands bandaged up to below the elbow to protect from minor scrapes. The tengu looked from her knelt position up as Nahumar hid the tendons, making her relax a bit if anything.

She stood once more, looking to the bell and taking a small picture of it,"The youkai of fear as the legends speak." She said to herself as she looked at his land through the camera lense."It sounds as if something almost out of folklore meant to scare the little ones into obeying and behaving." She snickered a bit as she set down the camera. For the moment the warrior was calm.

She feared little. Though her biggest fear was her own failure in her family's eyes, the swordstengu had been taught not to fear an opponent, because all could fall to the edge of her sword. Of course she feared for those who she care about, and feared death as any mortal. Fear was something she had learned to face, and to never run from.

-Nahumar-

Nahumar walked down and over to the Tengu, a very light smile on his face.
"Of course. Fear is needed as much as Joy and Sorrow. Without fear, the humans would of killed themselves without learning any lessons. It's also there to bring out courage. Courage to help one in need. Courage to stand up for what's right. Courage to fight back the minor fears." Nahumar took one of the rabbits, forcing it into it's bug like form as he spoke.
"Of course, Fear also has it's way of enshrouding itself from courage. Creating a veil of lies. It's what many Youkai tend to get into. We make a human form mainly to hide our true image from humans. After all, we live with them and it seems natural." Part of Nahumar's jacket revealed the shadow black body under it. His eyes drifting around, envisioning the few humans who indeed made it to his shrine. Each time, he smiled for them.
"Oddly enough, the bell at the top of my small shrine only rings for normal humans. If it detects any magic or non-human entities on it, it does not ring or it makes a tiny chime sound that not even a rat could pick up." One of the tendons from his back seemingly had the other half of the cacao pod.
"Would you like to try a fresh Cacao bean? It tastes just like fear to me." Most of the rabbits hopped back into the forest while a small portion stayed in the area.

Maemi nodded as she took notes she looked over as Nahumar exposed a bit of the black body. The tengu looked as the youkai continued to tell his tale, following and writing a few notes. "oh, no thank you," The swords tengu turned down the pod offering politely,"They taste like fear?"
PostPosted: Thu Jun 21, 2012 3:26 pm

-Nahumar-

Nahumar took the pod back as he explained.
"It's weird. Chocolate seems to be a fuel for nightmares in mortals. It's a nice alternative instead of sending my own children to scare someone. But true fear tastes much better than the substitute. So i am treated once in a while with a girl shrieking in the night." at this point, the weird rabbits looked at one another and changed locations.
"You know, for a Tengu, you are not so annoying. I do not know why Sorina wants to 'catch one and fry the little B#@% up'? Then again, I do not know if Tengu lie often. I live here. I never move unless the world is covered in the dark shroud of my own presence. I might of seen you one time on the mountain, but I have met many who are afraid of the dark. So tell me, miss...I never really asked for your name. How terribly rude of me. I never take the time to know a lot of faces. Only their outfits and role in the world...Except that witch who always flies above my head with a sack of books..." Nahumar walked closer to the Tengu, already showing the size of his shell. He is grateful that he could have features on his human face.

The reporter rubbed the back of her head, with a sheepish smile,"Yes, Miss Sorina was a bit...skeptical of me at first anyway. I am a reporter but only part time and on no pay as of now. A.. certain reporter gives us bad fame, but the other tengu are quite calm." She smiles and bows,"My name is Kenkaku Maemi, a swords tengu from the mountain guards. I come from a line of warriors, so the reporting attitude some of them have was grounded out of me long ago," She snickered at this. The warrior guard had been a rough place in the training phase anyway.

Maemi looked at the shell, was that it...a shell? Eh, the warrior decided to overlook it.
