Well, it seemed that had been smoothed over quite nicely, now hadn't it? That was fortunate for Shehk, though. That meant she wouldn't have to go exploring out on her own!

"I agree. It's worth at least a little look to know what's down there." she grinned. Unlike Malodore and Jericho, Shehk didn't have any experience with Catacombs or Caverns, so it was all curiosity for her at that point in time. Just the knowing.

"Might even find something interesting. Who knows." at that point she wasn't trying to smooth over any concern but rather she sounded excited by the possibility.

"Well, then, lead the way," Malodore said, pleased. It made sure the emblems, along with Jericho's samples, were secure before it headed for the door.

Setting the emblems aside, Jericho nodded to the two before grabbing the large cloak. Few people or not, he still didn't want his wings to be out in the open if possible. Once that was on him, he headed on out, waiting in the hall for Shehk to lead the way.

Shehk took a moment to pin both of the emblems to her lapel securely before she headed out into the hallway after the others, seeming to almost immediately be on her phone. She hadn't actually been down in the catacombs, after all, so she needed to see where the closest place for them to get down into them for some snooping would be.

Still, she'd figured out their destination by the time they'd gotten to the door of the Monster Dorms. "Looks like we're going to be going to go snoop some graves to find a door." she explained once she was done with her quick little search - man, she was glad she'd figured out the phone thing in the last couple of years.

But at least the graveyard in question was rather close - and open. It wasn't as though they were going house raiding or anything. Just trying to find:

"A tombstone that reads 'Reginald C. Macabre.'" she read out loud before looking up over what looked like would be a bit of searching. But that would probably be part of the fun.

It was pleasant to walk in the open air, and Malodore took several deep breaths for nothing other than the sheer pleasure of tasting the fresh breezes. The weather was turning warmer, towards the hottest Octobers... but that brought memories treacherously towards the surface. The plague doctor shook its head, the movement slight, and focused on now. It was actually good that they were going somewhere it had never been before.

When Shehk identified the name, Malodore tilted its head to one side. "Is it not some sort of rule that all names upon tombstones be some sort of terrible play on words?" it inquired, poking at a nearby headstone. Still, it would do its best. It padded to the next tomb over, hoping that if there were any inhabitants underneath they wouldn't mind their presence.

At the very least, it was nice to get some fresh air. Though once they were out in the open, Jericho was notably more alert than he had been in his room. It was hard for him to feel completely at ease right now. But, he was just trying to focus on other things, like finding the grave marker that Shehk had mentioned.

"Is it?" he asked Mal. The dragon didn't really visit graveyards all too often, so he wasn't sure if there were certain conventions or anything like that.

As they moved around, he peered from tombstone to tombstone, trying to see if he could spot the one they needed. He paused for the moment as he read one saying 'here lies I. C. Weiner' and tilted his head.

".. Maybe it is."

Shehk couldn't help but laugh as Malodore expressed inquiry over the naming mechanics for tombstones. "Maybe we just come from a generation of less questionably named individuals." she jested. Though really, if there were actually people named such things at some point in time..she felt increasingly bad for them.

"I'd fade from existence too if I had a bad name like that." she added as she looked over the fronts of a few tombstones. 'Izzy Gone' 'C. Yalater' 'I. Slipt' Man, there were definitely some questionably named people. "Clearly this is the part where we'll be so happy to see a half-decent name when we find it after a small amount of torture." she laughed.

But seriously, who came up with that kind of stuff?

"Surely no actual being was ever named 'I.B. Ded,'" Malodore objected, tapping one claw onto a headst-

"HEY! OFF MY LAWN!" The turf under the plague doctor's hooves rose a little bit.

"A-ah, sorry, Signore Ded-" It jumped to one side, giving Jericho and Shehk an abashed look. "I suppose... I suppose so. Ah. Well then... ah, sir? Do you know where 'Reginald C. Macabre' is?" it said, raising its voice and craning its neck towards the apparent residence of I.B. Ded.

"Damn kids," was the only answer. Malodore sighed.

Jericho looked through the gravemarkers with a sense of amusement. He had to agree with Shehk on the matter of the names, and he was about to agree with Malodore as well. Only... they were all quickly proved wrong on that part. The sudden shouting caused the dragon to jump and take a rather defensive stance. Insanity made him a little skittish and all.

Though, when it was apparent that there was no real danger, he slowly relaxed.

"Hmph. Not welcoming around here is it?" he grumbled while looking around. There was one larger tomb up ahead. Gazing at it, he tapped Shehk on the shoulder and pointed at it.

"Think that might be it?"

Shehk's tail puffed up ever so slightly when the voice of what sounded like a rather unhappy older fellow interrupted their little search, turning to look towards the source of it - and finding herself rather surprised to hear that I.B. Ded was an actual person!

...
....

Whelp, color her surprised, she'd been making the joke about the names as a joke, but it looked like there were individuals who lived with them.

"Looks like we've trespassed in a gated community, now doesn't it?" she noted, half sarcastic and not failing to note her own purposeful pun. She wouldn't point it out too heavily, however. Instead, when Jericho tapped her on the shoulder, she passed a look towards where he was pointing with a curious look on her face.

"Maybe." she agreed, hiking over towards the stone in question. It was taller than even she was, and Shehk looked up at it for a moment. Kind of a nice landmark, actually. Brushing her hand over the bottom of it to dust it off a bit she seemed to perk up.

"This might just be it! Now, I'm not sure if the door would be underneath it, or on it somewhere or..." if it was underneath it, Shehk was definitely too frail to be pushing heavy objects.

Malodore, still vaguely embarrassed from disturbing Signore Ded, gratefully followed Shehk over to the tomb Jericho had indicated. "It is a secret door? If it is used by others, there should be some indication... perhaps one area bears the marks of being touched more, or otherwise disturbed."

Jericho glanced from Shehk to Malodore before trying to look over the tombstone. With the doctor's suggestion, he tried to see if he could spot any notable areas of extra wear or something like that. Also, for the hell of it, he tried to push the thing aside to see if it'd budge at all.

Shehk did say it might be underneath.

She felt like she should have been playing a video game or something with this searching. A bit tedious, but also fun. The little visual hints were a smart thing to look out for, however.

"I hope there isn't an actual Mr. Macabre," that name, " living under this wondering why we're harassing his house." she noted, stepping back at Jericho pushed on the stone. It creaked and shifted slightly, and Shehk could have sworn she heard something rattle, her ears perking up.

Okay, moving seemed like it was getting somewhere. She definitely had to agree on that one.

"Maybe we should try pushing it from the side that looks like it has the most wear?" she suggested. Because if there was a door - or stairs underneath it - those had to be approached from a particular angle. Whoever made them would have accounted for that in the design, right?

The plague doctor paced around the tombstone with care. "Hmm... this side seems slightly more damaged than the other side. Perhaps it has been pushed on?" It touched the stone, then leaned its full weight on it.

... Yeah, no. Plague doctors simply weren't meant to move heavy things.

Aha! So pushing it did yield a bit of a result. And thankfully, Jericho was still pretty strong physically, so once Malodore found one side that might be it, he made his way over.

"Let me get this," he said before beginning to shove at the tombstone, trying to push it to the side. If this didn't work, he hoped that the two would have some backup ideas on how to get in.
