Shina's eyes narrowed. This was bad. She wanted a battle, not a frustrating series of freezing attacks. As obnoxious and unsporting as it felt, she had no control over what her opponent did. "Annabell, Charge Beam." Annabell swiftly sent out a blast of energy.

It may not have been a super exciting battle with all the freezing, but for once, she felt the need to win. Praying to Arceus as her pokemon was struck with a beam of electricity she called out, "Shake it off and try to freeze her again!" Again and again and again, they had to try.
Kipper gathered himself off the floor of the stadium and whipped up another Blizzard.

Annabell twisted out of the way, slipping away from the attack with no more than a thin dusting of ice on her fur. "Charge Beam again!" Shina called.

Kipper wasn't doing so well any more, his energy had begun to fry away, along with his feathers.
"Once more!" Sienna commanded. Now things weren't looking good, Kipper had begun to tire, and they couldn't get Annabelle frozen again.
The psyduck tried once more to freeze his opponent

Shina just sighed as Annabell was frozen again. What was the point of battling if you just spent the entire match hiding behind status effects? There was no flair, no spark, no real battle, just one pokemon picking on another who couldn't fight back. Annabell just growled and started trying to fight her way free again.

"Good job Kipper!" Sienna shouted, a little less zealful than usual. It was true their current strategy wasn't a spectacular way to battle, but it seemed to be their best chance at winning. She had been trapped against the same repetitive strategy before, and it had worked for her opponent, so it seemed there was a chance it could work for her. "Rock Smash!"
Kipper shook himself out, jittery with nerves that Annabell could escape any moment now. He got a running start at his opponent...

Annabell shook and rocked the ice, cracks spidering through it again. Next time she saw this bird outside the stadium, she was going to flash fry it and eat its entrails.

Sienna's palm met her face once more as Kipper landed on his feathery butt after he hit a patch of leftover ice. The psyduck was promptly zapped by the furret.

Kipper was definitely on his last bit of energy, not able to dodge the new electric move at all. Sienna supposed that's what they got for keeping their opponent immobile so long, but could she be blamed for attempting that strategy? "Hang in there and use Rock Smash!"
Their only hope now was that Kipper could get in a strong hit, and although he was running out of energy, he was still running at his opponent.

"Finish it Anna! Shock Wave!" Shina called. Anna gleefully ignored her own injuries, conjuring crackling power and releasing it to fill the arena. Shina discreetly sighed with relief. That had been hard!

Sienna whipped out Kipper's pokeball and returned him before he could even hit the ground. It was over. Her chances of being a gym leader this time around, over. They were so close. Sienna wasn't usually one for tears, or even caring about losing, but began crying. Between sniffles she called, "Thanks for the battle!" and exited the stadium.
