Shadowclan Medicine CatxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxApprentice: N/A

As Nightraven looked at Owlpaw, she purred a little."It's alright." She meowed as she flicked the young apprentices ear with her tail. She looked towards his brother Stormpaw and shook her head slightly. She wondered why Stormpaw was the way he was. She didn't need to pry really. She looked back at Owlpaw. "Let's head towards the creek first." She said as she padded out of camp.

Lightningstrider strode into camp with her mouse she'd caught, and put it in
the fresh-kill pile before looking around camp to see what others were doing.
Everything seemed fairly stable and easy-going, and she noted that she had
passed Nightraven and apprentices on her way into camp, so the Medicine
Cat must have found her helpers for the day.

The freshly groomed cat curled her tail as she walked over to Lonestar and
sat near him. "Lonestar, have any border patrols been organized yet? We
should definitely check over Thunderclan's border and renew the scent
markers... even if a Thunderpath separates us, I don't like leaving the border
unchecked for a long period of time,"
she said to him, and knew he would
notice that for once the she-cat was actually clean from all the grime and dirt
that usually coated her fur. She'd had some time to primp while Willowleaf
and Nettlebramble had been... conversing.

The large tom scratched passively at the back of his neck, as Nightraven padded off toward the apprentices. He watched her and as he set his paw
down, Lightningstrider approached him. Only, it took a moment before he recognized her--- her coat was clean. A purr rumbled in his chest as he eyed
her "I was going to lead the border patrol today." he said simply "The warriors have been a bit slow today, however."

He glanced at the warriors den, to take note of its laziness, and then looked back to his deputy.

Songbird stretched against his side and curled up with her head on her paws.
"Better." She said simply, as a yawn parted her lips. Her shivers had dropped
considerably, with the medicines working their way through her system, but
she could still feel the pull of grogginess "Thank-you for staying with me." she
purred at the big tom, taking a moment to lift her head and look at him. Of any
one in the camp, he'd been the only one willing to sit with her, not that she
expected or wanted anyone to. She licked his cheek once and laid her head
down again.

Lightningstrider smiled just slightly as she noted the gentle purr in his voice
as he spoke to her. So then he was pleased with how she looked, and just
that little fact made the she-cat hold her head just a bit higher in
confidence. "Would you mind if I lead the lesser patrol to Windclan's border,
then?"
she asked Lonestar, itching for something else to do.

Sitting around doing nothing was not Lightningstrider's style.

Firepaw XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Apprentice to Lightningstrider

Firepaw wasn't paying much attention to the world around her. It was unusual for the she-cat to be so thoughtless, but today she seemed to have pushed all her duties past her. She had just cleaned her soft grey-brown and white coat and was not watching as the kits played. Her tail flicked around, it was a very boring day, but the thought of training was unappealing. Her mentor would soon find her though and insist she do something with herself. Most cats would be honored to have the deputy training them, but she just didn't find a thrill in the fight. So, until she was found Firepaw was determined to stay as low key as possible to avoid the training. She just wasn't good at it.

LOCATION: Edge of Shadowclan camp
COMPANY: No one (someone interact with him?)
THOUGHTS: “Ugh, apprentices.”
OOC: Introducing Stormhawk =)

A lithe, muscular shape made its into the camp, clutching a lizard in his mouth. Stormhawk had gone hunting alone this morning, purposely missing the border patrol led by Lightningstrider. Personally Stormhawk felt that the deputy did not deserve his respect yet. The deputy was newly chosen, and although he had never associated much with the notoriously strong and aloof deputy, as of now the she-cat has not done anything heroic or drastic that deserved his respect. Hence, even though she was chosen to be deputy by Lonestar himself, he would still treat her like how he would treat any regular warrior, no more and no less. The she-cat had called together a patrol of warriors, but Stormhawk had slunk off to do some hunting on his own. The clan had to be fed first right? What was the point of patrolling if no one was hunting? If he got into trouble with the deputy, that would be his retort.

He entered the camp through an entrance in the back since he had decided to go lizard hunting, and as he stepped through he narrowly missed trodding on a pile of gray and white fur. Stormhawk’s yellow-green orbs glanced down, landing on the pile of fur which took him a few heartbeats to register the identity, Firepaw. Exactly what the apprentice was doing sitting around doing nothing while the deputy, her mentor, was leading patrols, Stormhawk had no idea. Laziness was probably the word for it. Stormhawk never had much patience with apprentices, and even less so with kits. Young ones, they were all the same to him. He carefully stepped past the mould of long gray and white fur, glancing down at the resting apprentice with an incredulous look. ”Kit, sitting around isn’t going to get you your warrior rank, you know that much right?” He grunted, not caring if he had just called the apprentice “kit”. In fact, he couldn’t even remember her name, but all young ones were “kit” to him. All the same, bouncing, annoying, ignorant furballs.

Bitter warrior of Shadowclan
__________

Spiderfang watched the antics of camp from her post at the entrance with watchful, but utterly disinterested eyes. What was this but superb norm of Shadowclan camp. A few distanced apprentices and warriors sitting around the dens, milling about as if they were waiting for something, while the leader, deputy, and a few other involvees sat around the relative middle chatting of patrols and the general needs of camp.
Spiderfang was getting ready to give a huff of disgust at how cliche she felt, being one of the distanced, milling warriors, but paused as her ears picked out the soft sound of bramble rustling and movement at the opposite end of camp.
Spotting Stormhawk shouldering his way into camp with a lizard clamped in his jaws, Spiderfang's eyes narrowed into slits and her tail twitched with annoyance at his arrogance. Just because he had once braved an attack from a hawk and won (with what Spiderfang highly believed was dumb luck), did not mean he could go gallivanting in the woods with his own self perceived invincibility powers.
Slipping to her paws, she quickly approached him and the apprentice. Catching his last remark to Firepaw, she with held an unbecoming snort. "Slinking around the woods like a rogue isn't exactly something worthy of warrior rank either." Spiderfang poked in, sitting back on her haunches to regard Stormhawk with haughty eyes and a slight sneer on her muzzle.

Lightningstrider overheard Stormheart speak to her apprentice, and while she
agreed that her apprentice was much too lazy and unwilling to go out and
ask to help, or ask to train, or even ask to hunt, it was not his place to
comment on Firepaw's flaws. The dark deputy dipped her head to Lonestar at
his periodical silence before she walked over to the group that was starting to
gather near her apprentice.

"She will not be 'sitting around', Stormhawk," she said and looked to
Spiderfang, not even going to touch the insult that was given to the older
tom, "She will be going on the border patrol with me. Would either of you feel
up to patrolling Windclan's border? I can't promise it will be exciting, but we
might be able to get more hunting in."

One moment the silence was around the distant cat then the space around her was filled with voices. Her green eyes looked at the older tom and she stood up. Stretching out she let out a yawn and watched Stromhawk and rubbed up against him. "I'm not stupid, Stormhawk. I know exactly what will and what will not get me to my warrior rank. Have you ever thought...just maybe some cats just aren't right for that title?" she then bravely rubbed her tail in his tail. "Besides shouldn't you be more humble, after all you are a warrior? Don't declare yourself better than another just because of a title," she said before Spiderfang had came in to say her own remark to the tom.

Spiderfang was entirely right, and Firepaw always seemed to enjoy being around the other she-cat. "She has a point," she added back to Stormhawk. Though, Firepaw's head lowered and she quickly feel silent as Lightningstrider arrived. Firepaw many not have like the idea of being a warrior, but she respected the deputy a lot. After all she was dealing with an apprentice that couldn't seem to find her passion. The border patrol, Firepaw did not like the idea, but of course she would not protest against Lightingstrider....well not yet at least. Maybe she could even ask as to why she has no desire to be a warrior or fight while many of the other apprentices crave it.

LOCATION: Edge of Shadowclan camp
COMPANY: Spiderfang, Lightningstrider, Firepaw
OOC: LOL poor Stormhawk XD

No sooner had he set foot into camp, someone had to come up to him just for the purpose of annoyance. He had hardly taken another step when a sleek black shape approached him, although the expression on the she-cat’s face told him that the bitter warrior Spiderfang was not about to compliment him on his catch. Rather, he was rather sure that she was intending on doing the opposite. He pointedly ignored the warrior when she approached him, instead he brushed straight past her (rather rudely, may he add) and headed to the fresh kill pile. He dropped the lizard down unceremoniously on the meagre pile of fresh kill, before turning back to Spiderfang with a slightly irritated look. ”And I suppose you’ve been very warrior-worthy today?” He retorted with a roll of his eyes. At that moment, a lithe black shape approached them, revealing herself to be the deputy Lightningstrider. Lovely, just what he needed. More cats bugging him! He listened without saying a word when the deputy spoke, inviting him to come along with her to a patrol. Didn’t they just return from a patrol? He had purposely missed out that one as he felt that it was rather useless. Oh well, at least she offered hunting for this patrol. ”Whatever.” He answered with a shrug, which was probably the closest answer to “yes” Lightningstrider will be getting.

All of a sudden, he felt warm fur rubbing against him, and his yellow-green eyes instantly widened by a mile at the intimate touch. That apprentice! Not only was she disrespectful, but she was rubbing her scent all over him! He listened without a word as she spoke about possibly not being suitable for the warrior rank, not that he was really taking it in. Letting out a loud cough to get her attention, he shifted away from Firepaw slightly, his ears flattening a little. ”First of all, no I haven’t thought of it, I have better things to do. Secondly, don’t touch me.” He growled as he moved away from the affectionate apprentice, still cringing at the thought of the apprentice rubbing all over him as if they knew each other very well. Verbal words were one thing, but physical contact...was a bit much.

Bitter warrior of Shadowclan
__________

- we prey on sudden appearances and then verbally abuse I3 -

Giving a sharp, indignant hiss and digging her claws to release the infuriation she felt at Stormhawk's utter disregard, Spiderfang glanced at Firepaw before swing her gaze back at Stormhawk. Her claws sunk deeper into the ground and she gave a short, low growl at his reply, keeping her eyes trained on him with clear dislike. His nonchalance fueled her feelings all the more, and she hardly contained baring her teeth like a trapped fox.
At the sudden entrance of Lightningstrider, her gaze snapped away and her ears perked to listen to the deputy. She held her head up as the deputy met her eyes and stayed silent. At the offer of border patrol and the ever so off hand acceptance from Stormhawk, Spiderfang immediately wished to decline. But in essence, he had trapped her (knowing so or not). If she declined it would only go to further show that she was not being very, quote, 'warrior-worthy' at all and prove his point in earnest. She flashed a dismayed glance from the corner of her eye at Stormhawk before returning to answer Lightningstrider. "I'll come." She clipped out stiffly.
Her eyes, which had turned frosty at the events, softened slightly in amusement and a corner of her mouth quirked up, enjoying the other toms discomfort at Firepaw's head on approach.

Lightningstrider's Apprentice

Firepaw purred at Stormhawk's hostile defence and fluffed her fur up. Her bright green orbs focused on the disgruntled tom, "A decent worry would think with an open mind," she meowed back before once more pushing her head against his. Stepping back for another moment she scanned the tom. Her ears perked up and she nodded to him, "Then don't tell me how to be. We are all destined to do great things, just wait...you may be surprised by what mine will be. I might just save your life," she told him. Stormhawk was indeed a fine tom, with his soft green eyes and build figure. He was a true fighter, yet he seemed to think too highly of himself. Firepaw knew it was not possible, but if Stormhawk had a better personality, he'd be a lovely partner for another cat...or at least a wonderful friend. Of course the only thing holding that back was the tom himself.

Now, directing her full attention to Lightingstrider the young cat spoke, "So, border patrol...right?" she meowed. Flashing a final glance at Stormhawk before turning her attention to Spiderfang, "I'll see you later," she told them both. Firepaw followed Lightingstrider and the questions began to consume her. So, without hesitation she began to ask the simple ones first, "Do those two have vendetta against one another?" Firepaw asked referring to the two warriors who spoke to her. She understood that Stormhawk had a personality that was hard to take in, but part of her was curious as to if the two cats had a deeper rivalry than what she had just saw. That was one of Firepaw's problems she was so curious; she loved to hear the stories others have lived.

As the young apprentice walked she felt the ground beneath her paws. It was smooth and natural. There was something about it that she truly enjoyed...that she trusted. The natural earthy scent enticed her and she felt free from the ranking and judging from the other cats in the clan. It was obvious that the deputy had her paws full with a dud like herself, but what the younger she-cat admired was the persistence Lightingstrider had to insure that Firepaw would become a great warrior. At times the deputy would even have Firepaw believing it herself, that she would move past her flaws and become the best, but on those dark nights everything caught up with her. The apprentice would escape to the highest points in the tree and look over the land. Scanning everything detail while she drifted into thought. Questioning herself and where she belonged.

There was something she was born to do, it was that way for every cat. Spiderfang was meant to survive when she was born, and become a very respected warrior. Stormhawk was meant to survive the "hawk attack" just as she was meant to find her own place. It was just harder to be done rather than said. "I'm sorry," she whimpered softly back to Lightingstrider. After all a great cat should never be stuck with such a terrible one as herself.

Lightningstrider nodded with the other cats and their compliance to be on a
border patrol with her and her apprentice. She wasn't expecting anything
exciting to happen because Windclan cats were generally calm creatures
and unless she or her clan were outright challenged by Windclan, she wasn't
going to risk going across the Thunderpath. She of all cats would know just
how dangerous Thunderpaths were; her family had all died from very
suspicious monster accidents.

Lightningstrider smirked at how uncomfortable Firepaw's affectionate touches
had made Stormhawk. "Poor tough warrior shrinks away from affection, how
sad,"
she cooed in a teasing manner before she nodded at Spiderfang's
response. "Well then, let's waste no more time chatting idly here. Let's go."

The deputy seemed to search her thoughts for a moment before
