Leste shook her wings in an effort to throw off the persistent flames to no avail, crowing loudly at the burns. Though the Pidgeot was far from downed, she was by far the least experienced battler on Luke's team. With the FeatherDance's effect in place, he raised a premier ball and a pokeball, recalling the flying-type in favor of a glowering Umbreon.
"Confuse Ray!"
Tenebrae gave a short sigh. One could never be warned before getting tossed onto the battlefield, hm? Not much to be done about that. He fell into a battling posture and executed the command without complaint.

Asch frowned as the Pidgeot now disappeared and what replaced it was an Umbreon. Looks like his twin had been busier than he realized. Just where had he gotten all of these Pokemon? They were also stronger than he had anticipated. He'd obviously been doing some training.
A flash of light dazed Havoc and caused him to stumble as he became confused. The Ponyta tried to shake it off but to no avail, it just made him angry. "Use Fire Spin on that Umbreon as well!" Asch ordered, and the Ponyta tried to comply but ended up tripping on its own hooves and fell flat.

Luke gave a slight nod at the results of the Confuse Ray. "Tenebrae, Faint Attack!" The dark-type fluidly closed the distance between itself and its foe to deliver the requested attack.

Asch huffed a little, a bit annoyed at the turn of events but otherwise kept his composure. Havoc struggled back to his hooves and was then blind sided by a Faint attack, causing the horse to whinny angrily and rear up on his hind legs.
"Snap out of it!" Asch demanded of the Pokemon. "Flame Charge!"
The Ponyta shook his head and managed to shake off the confusion for the time being as he made a wild flaming rush for Tenebrae. The Sunny Day's bonus still in effect.

Tenebrae tumbled backwards, regaining his footing with a venomous glint in his honey eyes. He was already moving forward when the order came, "Quick Attack!" The Umbreon darted forward with all speed, aiming for the Ponyta's long legs in an effort to get it off its feet again.

Tenebrae's attack did just that, knocking the Ponyta's long legs out from underneath him and causing him to topple. In a fit of rage, the horse tried to get up again but the confusion settled in once more and he flopped on the ground again after his trainer had called for another try at Fire Spin.
Asch growled a little in frustration, especially as the Sunny Day now faded away.

The Ponyta's failure to counter left Luke with a growing confidence in the outcome of the match, "Faint Attack, again!" He stood a chance after all, didn't he? He didn't have to have a sword in his hand to fight. There were still things that he could do.
Tenebrae melted into the commanded attack, pushing the relentless blow against the downed fire-type.

The blow was enough to finish off Havoc, and the dark Ponyta flopped over on the ground as he fainted. He was then returned to his ball, and now Asch reached for the last Pokemon he had.
Another burst of light and a significantly larger Pokemon appeared, a Zoroark. A Pokemon that Luke had met before. Saber glanced between his master and the one who had aided him. The Pokemon dipping his head respectfully to Luke, but he knew what was going on, and he had to fight. No hard feelings.
"Saber, ready yourself." Asch spoke calmly as he folded his arms across his chest.
The Zoroark narrowed his eyes at the Umbreon then held out his arms and flexed his digits, using Hone Claws.

Luke had been waiting for Saber's appearance, remembering the Zoroark from the encounter in the sink hole. The acknowledgement from the pokemon was somewhat unexpected, but he returned it nonetheless with a nod of his own.
Formalities aside, though, a battle was indeed a battle. He could appreciate the Zoroark assistance from that day, but that didn't mean he'd go easy on him. "Tenebrae, give it another Confuse Ray."
The Umbreon gave a short sound to indicate compliance before acting accordingly.

Asch had expected that, but seemed rather unconcerned. By this point, he already knew that Luke had more Pokemon than him, and that his brother was more than likely going to win. While it might have bothered him otherwise, today it didn't. He had resigned to the idea of losing already, but that didn't mean he wouldn't go down without a fight.
Saber growled and covered his eyes with a paw as the light momentarily blinded him. He then shook his head, feeling the effects of the confusion.
"Go! Night Slash!"
Able to shake it off this time, Saber lept into action, coming at Tenebrae with a swipe of his sharp red claws.

The Night Slash took its toll, and Tenebrae struggled to remain upright after recovering from it. Luke had been anticipating Saber's arrival into the fray, though, and he had not planned to have Tenebrae face him. He raised a pair of red and white pokeballs, swapping out the Umbreon for a rather pretentious-looking Lairon, "Metal Claw!"
Tartarus took only moments to assess the situation; he had been bred for battle and trained for battle, and he had no qualms against entering battle. The steel-type rushed forward to strike at the Zoroark.

"Tch," ... A Lairon, that sucked. That would make Saber's physical attacks pretty much useless against a Pokemon with armor like that. However, Saber's most powerful attack was a special one. Luke was indeed full of surprised. However, this was beneficial for Asch as well. He was getting a feel of what kinds of Pokemon Luke had, and he could be better prepared for next time.
The sharp metallic claws raked at the dark type, eliciting a pained snarl, and sending a few red hairs from his mane flying.
"Saber, Night Daze!"
The Zoroark again managed to shake off the confusion, and focused intently on his opponent. His arms were soon engulfed in an eery light as he readied for the attack. "Zrrrak!" Saber cried as he then unleashed the dark energy by hurling it at the armored Pokemon.

The attack was powerful, but steel's resistance to dark was what had brought Luke to save Tartarus for this match. The Lairon shut his eyes against the shock wave, bearing some damage, but was still quite able to fight by the time the attack was over.
"Headbutt!"
Tartarus growled a deep, rumbling growl before charging forward, his broad, plated head trained on his enemy.

This was a little frustrating considering this left Asch with very few options since this was his last Pokemon. If Havoc wasn't already KO'ed, he could have used him against the Lairon, but such wasn't the case. The irritation now showed on the boy's features in a deep frown, but he still said little.
Saber attempted to dodge the rampaging steel type, but was unable to completely and was knocked flat by the hard blow. The Zoroark picking himself up with a shake of his head.
"Again!" Asch called, considering either of his attacks wouldn't do significant damage at this point. However, Saber's confusion kicked in and in his effort to attack, managed to miss and hurt himself instead.

"You too, Tartarus; again!"
The Lairon took full advantage of Saber's confused state, charging once more with another Headbutt, the thrill of a proper battle adding energy to his assault.
