"Doubtful," Yoan said, skittering across the sand. "But any bit helps."
The black beast continued soaring, her wings fanning out to catch the air. She seemed to be calculating her next move... something which was cut short when Shumusi came barreling towards her. Seeing the oncoming eagle brought a hiss of rage from the raven's throat. She spun around, talons extended; dark wings eclipsing into smoke. Her eyes grew dark.
But then, whatever was happening sharply ended as the eagle rammed into her. It was hard to say if the raven simply hadn't had enough time, or relented on her own accord. Whatever the case might have been, the eagle brought out another shrill cry of rage. Wings grew tangled, and propelled by the force of the eagle baring down on her, the black creature fell from the sky.
It landed in an inky burst on the sand, almost as though it had sunken into itself. A few of the smokey tendrils pulsed, clawing at the sand like tiny claws. She'd landed not far from where Yoan stood, and he made a few quick steps back to be certain he was out of the claw's range. His wings trembled, still sore but ready to take flight if needed.
The smokey pile started to reform, swirling until a head appeared, dark eyes glinting in the sunlight. She looked directly at Yoan and the other eagle with a kind of foul rage.
Then, wings pulling up from the smoke and sand, the beast suddenly lurched forward. It rushed upwards and through them like a cold wind, the dark shape skirting the sand before landing once beside Moma. The raven's forming talon wrapped around the unconscious body, and she was back alight. This time, she moved with a speed that no mortal creature possessed- vanishing from sight before even her own followers knew what had happened.
The abandoned ravens made a few caws of surprise before leaving, following the smokey trail the bird had left behind.

The shrill, angry cry of the raven finally got Amaka to stop and turn to see what was happening now. She couldn't help but grin knowing the eagle had landed such a hit. Very impressive. Soaring slowly towards the ground, she put her attention back on Terama and her strange, smoky descent. She picked up the pace, dropping into a moderately paced dive as she realized how close she was getting to Yoan once again- now that the raven was making no effort to conceal her unusual nature, the concept of playing fair seemed less likely. The distance between them now would have made it very hard to get in close without causing a stir- but luckily, as the monster reformed, she grabbed one of the ravens and disappeared.
Almost immediately she relaxed, soaring almost lazily toward the sand once again. She'd made it through almost entirely unmarked as the more vicious of the confrontation was certainly with the eagle, but now that the threat was gone she certainly felt the fatigue. But she still had to question Yoan, finally realizing he would have been the obvious choice to go for if she only wanted to know what was happening.
"What was that about?" she called as she got closer to Yoan and Kenta.

She felt the impact, and then found herself jarred back. As Shumusi flared her wings, she shook her head to clear it, then watched the raven fall. It was a curious sight as it hit the sand and simply... Burst. Whatever it was, it wasn't normal, even by the standards of most. The gold eagle was ready to dive, when the cold dark cloud of the beast moved. It was heading straight for the crow and Kenta... She dove, only to watch it pass right by them, stopping to collect the fallen bird with the pale markings before leaving. The female eagle flared her wings out again, this time landing near Kenta and Yoan. "Well... That was interesting..."
Kenta could only shiver, a strange feeling having been struck by the expression the beast bird had given him. He only shook his head, watching the thing leave, then turned and sort of hobble-walked back for the Firekin dens. "Whatever that was... We should all get back to the lions..." He looked over to Yoan. "They can probably help you, too..."

The crow spat out a few of the dark feathers, now that the creature had passed. Once they fell to the ground, he quickly covered them with sand and drew a simple x mark in the earth. Without further ceremony, he hopped over to Amaka and the unfamiliar eagle. "Just a misunderstanding, I'm sure." Yoan said, not bothering to elaborate. That was a story far too long. And perhaps far too unbelievable.
"But I doubt her affection for me was the sole reason she chased me this far out," the crow pondered. Seeing Amaka was proof enough of that- so this is where the Hongshan had went! There are no coincidences, his friend had once said. His tail feather's bobbed in thought. He wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not. "Strange things happening in the Northlands these days."
He craned his neck, looking over the small dead bodies that now lay scattered across the desert sand. A bird's face was not the most expressive- but for a moment, there seemed to be genuine sympathy in the crow's bright eyes. "Lions, yes... well, I doubt they can help me much. But I may be able to try my wing at helping them."
At least, one in particular.
"I doubt I'll be flying just yet though," he paused, his wings still sore from the chase. "But... thank you for your help. I would not suggest doing it again, but I owe you my life."

Amaka landed in the sand softly, ruffling her feathers up a bit as she finally was able to relax. She didn't look convinced by Yoan's words, a simple misunderstanding rarely got a creature like that on your tail.. unless Yoan was the type to steal from or offend a stranger and happened to cross someone he shouldn't have unknowingly. Amaka honestly didn't know him well enough to judge that.
So she did not press him for now.
"Stranger than the lions suspect?" she asked thoughtfully when he mentioned the Northlands, her tone was careful but it was obvious she was more curious than might be expected from, well, any of the bird clan.

Yoan paused. If he could furrow his brow, he surly would have. Instead, he gave a look that was uniquely avian, strange and considering. "I don't know what the lions might suspect. But I have heard things are often more complicated than they seem."
It was certainly a statement that rang true to him. "She's gone now at least. I doubt she'll be quick to return. I uh... might not venture too far out the desert for a bit though. I can't say how well a beast like that remembers faces."
He hopped forward a bit. In the distance, there was the shape of a lioness moving slowly forward in the sands. It was still a far way off, but he could make out the all too-familiar wide eyed stare of those bright eyes. Unsure, but strangely knowing. His wings still throbbed, but he could at least make it a bit farther.
"Let me get my bearings," and do some very complicated explaining. "But we can discuss what these lions know later."
The crow turned his head, regarding the other two eagles. "Thank you, again."
And with that, he fluttered off.
