Tambrey blinked. Oh, right, of course, she was sure he'd said such before but, testament to the fact that he really had 'coped well' and been a good teacher, she kept forgetting the fact that Aulus hadn't been a teacher, or sensei, before teaching her. She grinned. "Well, I know how to..." She blinked and mimicked a move she'd been taught with her hands, kicking her feet a little bit in reflex, but of course she could really go into a stance sitting there on the poolside ".. and I didn't know that before, so y' definitely 'coped well'. And, heh, I kind of hope we do mess up a little, y'know, it'd be nice to laugh at ourselves. 'T least once anyway."
She nodded, looking slightly impressed with the idea, but slightly cautious at the same time. "D'ya mean at the same time? Because tha' might get a little crowded. Uh. It /is/ a good idea though to train at the same time." She agreed and smirked a bit "It'd be an interesting team."

"Hu," Aulus scratched at an itch behind one ear, "I guess it would be a bit of a fustercluck... ******** that is." Fustercluck was a word his Dad used. He really should visit them all sometime. "Anyway, maybe... occasional mass brawls, out in the desert where we won't damage anything. Smaller scale stuff inside, we can pick each other up on technique and stuff; I know I need to refine mine, haven't had to work with a real troublemaker before and as I said I'm not dealing as well with it as I'd like. Are any of us really pro traners? I know Alex isn't, and neither of us are... not so sure about any of the others." He hadn't know any of them before they'd been chucked into that cell together, and talking about pokemon training hadn't exactly been on anyone's mind.

"Fustercluck..." Fun word. She repeated it, blinking a little as she learned its meaning. It would probably wind up as part of her vocabulary; buried somewhere in her mind until some random situation declared itself perfect for such a label.
"Out in the desert sounds good f'r that kind of thing," Tambrey agreed "and that does sound good... Having lots 'f eyes to pick up on everything... Hm." The idea that Aulus could use the help with his troublemaking pokemon was, to be honest, encouragement that she might do the same with Neph. It would be nice to have a bug type and actually not be afraid the spider was going to turn on her all the time; she was dreading whenever Neph's body decided she was ready to evolve. "Uh. Not sure. Lore seems more 'f... Well, I'm sure he's got his pokemon trained, but... y'know. Xander seems like he knows what he's doing, but I don't know about 'pro trainer'..." She thought about; that left Shawn and Jerome. "I'm goin' t' say 'I don't think so' but just because none 'f us are pro 'sn't going to mean we might have someone who knows a fair bit about it."

"Well, you're right, I guess even if we don't have a real expert amongst us working together on our problem will help," Aulus shrugged slightly, wincing as the injuries under his dressings made themselves known. Maybe he shouldn't stay here much longer... maybe he shouldn't but he didn't want to leave just yet, he was quite happy here in relative peace, talking idly with Tam. It was comfortable, didn't require him to be as on guard as he was with most people.
"So uh... what're you up to for the rest of the day? Anything exciting?" Maybe he could tag along... now that was a bit sad; he didn't need to be in company. He could go back to his room, surf the internet and catch up on everything he'd missed, and hang out with his pokemon. He was perfectly capable of coping without human company.

"Many hands make light work.. 'r something like that?" Tambrey tried to remember the old saying that seemed to fit such a thing. That sounded right to her. She watched him, and frowned slightly, but didn't mention noticing him wince. If it looked like it got worse, or he was hurting much more, she resolved that she'd take him straight to the infirmary herself; or try to anyway, but for now, she'd leave it alone.
... What was she doing today? She wasn't truly sure; she had wanted a swim, so she'd come to exercise in the pool. Her next plans involved drying off after the swim and.. what? She didn't /need/ to be working until she was told to and she just had the standard sort of stuff to do while she avoided her room.
"To be honest, not really. 'M kind o' stuck, even. Still settling in and not always sure what to do with myself." The grunt shrugged a little and smiled apologetically "I'm not all that an exciting sort o' person. How about you? Er... I mean. What are your plans f'r the day, not whether your exciting or not. I'm going to shut up. You know what I meant..." She stumbled the words and failed to catch herself. She blushed as she resigned to acknowledge the awkwardly constructed sentence, but having, at least, the faith that he'd understand what she'd actually meant to ask.

When Tam said she didn't have anything planned Aulus deflated slightly, listening to the slightly stumbling sentence and nodding a moment after she'd stopped talking. "Yes. I'm the same... that's why I asked to be honest, because I've no idea what I'm going to do for the rest of the day." He still wasn't so good with this whole 'sharing' thing, even though he pretty much trusted Tam now he just... well he wasn't good at talking about stuff like this.
Think of something.
Anything.
Keeping busy was important but he couldn't just go and exercise, which was generally an easy fall back plan. He almost felt out of place, displaced, misplaced, as though this wasn't really his life anymore or maybe as though he wasn't the same person. He'd stop feeling like this in the end, right? He'd be as he had been before, albeit with a few more scars.
He realised he'd started chewing on a nail only when he managed to tear it, bringing forth a tiny drop of blood. Swearing to himself he sucked at the miniature wound and looked back at Tam. Something to do. Anything to do. "Uh... want to go to the cafe and get some tea or something?... Or we could go watch a movie in the rec rooms, or play video games or something."

Tambrey watched as he, apparently, tried to chew a fingernail off. You didn't miss the colour of blood, fleeting as it was, especially when the blood vanished in the manner it did; sucking on a wound was a pretty universal response to pain, as far as the grunt knew, and so she let a slight flicker of concern show in her expression. It was silly, just a small wound, but still there was a little brief moment where she leaned forward to see if it was something she'd be able to help with. Luckily she caught herself before she mentioned it, suspecting that vocalizing her concern might have embarrassed the both of them. Instead she settled on; "Well, y' seem to be hungry... 'S no law against getting a bit of tea and such an' taking it with us. Y'know, I don't think I've actually played a video game properly since I got here... Movies 're good too though; there's a few turning up left around down there lately." She swung her legs just slightly and smiled. "Sooo... Tea /and/ some time in the rec' room?" Well, much as she liked swimming, she certainly hadn't wanted to do it all day and seemed rather glad of the company and suggestion.

Tam's moment of consern wasn't missed, but Aulus didn't know what to do about it so he ignored it. Was nice that she cared though. "Sure, sounds good," he nodded, twitched a brief small smile and made to haul himself out of the pool. This rather hurt, and he gave up the effort with a scowl. "Bloody stupid fire moth," he muttered, mostly just for something to say in front of Tam, "I'll just go all the way to the shallow end and get out there shall I? Damned thing."

She started to bring her feet out of the pool, then stopped when Aulus didn't quite make it out. One quick movement had her goggles back over her eyes and she'd slipped back into the water next to him. "Well, I'd have offered t' pull y' up, but," She didn't want to cause any stress to his injuries "if you're going to the shallow end, then I might 's well swim wi' you. Exercise and 'every little bit helps' and all that." She smiled and started for the shallow end of the pool in a leisurely breaststroke.

Aulus gave a short laugh and shook his head. "I can't see that ending well given how much I weigh compared to you. Thought's appreciated though." As Tam set off he matched her stroke, saying no more but not feeling uncomfortable as such for the silence.
On reaching the shallow end he clambered out slowly and stretched carefully before pushing his fingers through his damp hair. "Meet you in the cafe in... twenty minute or so?" he hazarded, turning back to Tam. "Not like there's any rush though, given we have clear schedules."

"Hey, I might be strong'r than I look." Tambrey replied, smirking; nope, he was right. Silence could be nice, sometimes. A companionable silence was a different animal to an awkward silence, after all. Tambrey pulled her goggles up before getting out of the pool properly. "Twenty minutes sounds good; d'ya want me to get you anything if I get there first?"

Aulus smiled slightly and nodded. "Earl Grey tea, bit of milk, no sugar. What about you?" Maybe he would have some cake or something too, but he'd have to see what was on offer today before deciding what he wanted.
Deciding what he wanted.
Having options, even the limited ones in the regular cafeteria at dinnertime, was still a wonderful novelty.

Ooh, the Grey sounded nice, but she was in the mood for something a bit murkier and a bit stronger. Smoky would be good. "Noted; Gray with milk, no sugar." Tambrey hadn't /quite/ meant to sound like a waitress. "Uh. Lapsang souchong. If they have 't." Was she supposed to be self concious about eating around him, around a friend? She didn't /think/ so and she was a little hungry and /wanted/ something sweet... "And a muffin or something. 'S whatever's there. Cravin' cherries though."

"Right. Lapsang, and something with cherries, I can deal with that. See you up there then." Giving another smile and nod Aulus turned and headed towards the changing rooms. He might not be quite normal again yet, but at least he wasn't alone in it.
