Even with KO's mocking tone and knowing that the man was taking delight in his misery, there was something nice about hearing his name used properly by a familiar voice. He'd spent so much time lately around strange people who couldn't possibly understand him. KO might not respect him now but at least he knew how things used to be. He'd seen him as an imposing and authoritative figure... at one point.

Star stared at passing trees, blinking slowly as KO spoke. So this was what he'd been reduced to. Just being happy to find someone who used to be scared of him.

"...if I agree and take you there.. and you do anything to humiliate me or damage my status.. I'm sure you realize you'll regret it." He turned a glare on the smirking man, "I may not be your commander any more but I still know how to inflict pain." His eyes passed around the car interior, "And what's most important to you."

KO's smile vanished and his face tightened.

Big mistake.

"So that's how it's going to be," he said flatly, eyes fixed on the road ahead. He'd never been fond of the Commander - he found the man ridiculous - but never before had Star been on his s**t List. The spiky-haired idiot was going to regret making that threat; he would bide his time until and adequate opportunity presented itself. That had always been a problem of Star's; so little patience, with both plans and people.

"You know," KO went on in lighter tones, "I would have thought a man in your position might be looking to make himself some friends, or at least allies. I was going to offer to mend your precious coat for you and to make that suit look less like a sack for old times' sake, but if we're not going to be friends then I guess I won't. It's a shame really, you used to be such a stylish man." Not a chance he was going to walk around looking like that; there had to be a sewing machine somewhere on base that he could borrow to adjust his uniform.... What did the trainee ones look like again? He knew they were red, but he wasn't sure what shade and he seriously hoped it wasn't one that clashed with his hair or eyes.

Star blinked a moment, then glanced down at his outfit. Was he really willing to play nice with KO just for the sake of costume adjustments? His brow furrowed and he folded his arms. "I'm still stylish..." He muttered, "It's not my fault the Rockets have reprehensible taste..." He sighed and resumed glaring out the window. "I'll make you a deal. Stop laughing at me and I'll stop threatening you. If you expect me to be civil you have to do the same. I'm sure you think this is all hilarious but you have no idea what I've been through or the sacrifices I've had to make."

Tch, some people just couldn't take a tease. KO shrugged slightly; "Alright, we'll give that a try then." He didn't know how long he could keep it up, or how long he'd care to bother to try for that matter, but certainly long enough to get Star out of his car.... He really hoped they didn't do anything horrible to his car; he'd have to see if he could get a promise of good treatment for it in return for the Synth formula. He would like to think that nobody would mistreat such a beautiful machine in any case, but some people just had no respect for lovely things.

"So I take it Team Rocket isn't shaping up how you'd hoped," KO went on after a short pause, actually managing not to sound mocking for the time being. "Why'd you leave Galactic anyway? You had a sweet gig there." Something major he didn't know about must have happened, but then that wasn't too surprising given he hadn't seen Twinkle in about a decade....

Twinkle.

He'd forgotten about that.

KO just barely managed not to smirk.

Star rolled his eyes. "You really are out of the loop." He sighed, "The respectable organization we knew died a long time ago. The second galactic was nothing like the first..."

While he spoke he pulled a Rocketdex out of his pocket. He didn't figure just driving up to HQ unannounced with an unfamiliar visitor was the wisest move. He'd been in enough trouble this week without adding more. He worked on sending a message as he rattled on.

"Do you remember Deimos and Tethys?" He blinked, "..well Tethys. Nobody knew Deimos.." He was an insignificant nobody. A passing few recognized him as that guy who got his eye nearly gouged out during the Azelf mission but that was about it.

Humm? Well well, maybe the Commandant hadn't been happy with his position in life for quite a while. KO's brow creased slightly as he mulled over the named offered up by Star. After a few moments rather distinct memories flashed to mind; lots of blood and screaming and ugh eye injury. "Actually I do remember Deimos," KO replied, "I was on duty in the infirmary when the crew who went to grab Azelf came back to base. Nasty mess he was, but it was interesting watching the surgeon piece his leg back together." He'd been young at the time, he didn't remember exactly how old but young and inexperienced enough that he had been relegated to tool passing and vitals checking for things like that. Of course, he was pretty sure that he couldn't put a shattered leg like that back today even today but that wasn't the point.

"Not sure that I remember Tethys," he added with a shake of his head, "name rings a bell but that's it.... Why do you ask?" Deimos had been a nobody, and he had to assume that Tethys had been as well. Star was clearly going somewhere with this though; a monologue was probably incoming before too much longer.

"They were of little importance." Star said this with a thick layer of bitterness. "....they were the ones who founded the second Galactic.. after Cyrus. Deimos was the new boss, and Tethys his second in command."

He debated how much he wanted to tell KO, then reminded himself that he'd been complaining about his status at Team Galactic on a daily basis nearly without pause since he got to Team Rocket... basically to anyone who would sit still long enough. It wouldn't take KO long to figure it all out.

"That repulsive child took my job. Heading the organization wasn't enough.. he had to head my department too. It was a mockery.. both of them. They've disgraced everything Team Galactic ever stood for. Turned it into a garish joke."
PostPosted: Mon Apr 16, 2012 12:22 pm

"...Deimos?"

The little purple-haired scrap with the attitude of a six year old was leading Galactic.

KO started laughing again.

"He what?" Laughter. "Deimos?" Oh Arceus, couldn't breathe! "People are following him?" Ack! Stay on the road! "He- he spent half his time in the infirmary drawing in crayon! He had all the style of a brain-damaged Magikarp!" Struggling to get his mirth under control KO wiped his eyes with one hand. "I'm not surprised you got tired of it! How long did you hang around to watch the circus?" The thought of that squirt leading Galactic was hilarious enough, but that he had taken over Star's department? Glorious! Of course, Star needn't know right now he was laughing at him; let the man think he was laughing merely at the state of their old organization.

"Too long." He didn't look at KO as he said this.

"It would be more accurate to say people follow him and Tethys. Deimos.. knows things... about machines and physics." Star didn't feel like elaborating on Deimos' genius, but it was obvious the topic made him uncomfortable. "He's about as competent as a four year old... but Tethys is......" He paused briefly, hunting for the right word. "Ruthless." Without realizing it, he'd slowly slid into a hunch as he spoke, defaulting to subservient posture at the mention of the woman. Frowning, he straightened up suddenly and lifted his chin, "Though Deimos may have some difficulty leading his organization from his new cell at Team Rocket's brig. After blowing up half of the Galactic airship I returned with a team of Rockets and oversaw his capture." He smoothed his coat, "A rather grand exit, if I do say so myself."

Humm, looked like Tethys and Star had tangled, and Star hadn't come out on top. Not surprising if she was the new 2ic and as cold blooded as an Articuno....

Well well, looked like he'd picked the right side here after all; not only were the Galactics following an idiot, they'd gone and lost said idiot!

Finally suppressing laughter, KO smirked and glanced at the preening Star. "Impressive! That must have been satisfying." He strongly doubted the man had played as big a role as he was making out, but for now it seemed wisest to humour him even if he wasn't a commander anymore; he didn't want his car messed with after all. "I hope TR was suitably grateful for the intel you provided, and your guidance on the mission?" Didn't look like it by that outfit, and the fact that he had been out alone in the field.

Star tensed. "They have not. They should have given me an entire department after what I did for them." After a moment of seething he eyed KO, "Of course they might better appreciate my value if someone who's seen what I'm capable of weighs in.."
PostPosted: Mon Apr 16, 2012 1:16 pm

KO did not eye Star back; instead he weighed up the pros and cons of taking the skinny man's side. Mmh, well, probably there wasn't much harm in saying what he'd seen back in the old Galactic; for all his faults Star had been good at what he did.

After a momentary pause he shrugged and said; "Well I don't know how much they'll listen to a new recruit even one bearing gifts, but I won't sell your short if asked Herr... Star." Who knew, the Commandant might get himself back into a position of authority one day and if he did KO was in no doubt that a great deal of vindictiveness would be directed at anyone who had displeased him.

Star seemed to accept this because he nodded. Text flashed across the 'dex he'd been toying with. He sighed, snapped it shut and returned the device to his pocket, "They've agreed to me bringing you in. We'll have to find a place to store your vehicle though... I daresay you won't appreciate the type of offroading it will take to get there. Team Rocket has some facilities in Camphoreon we could use to store it. Or you can hide it in Ambergris." He turned his focus to adjusting one of his gloves, "Pick one. I'd rather not be out all day."

"Camphoreon," KO replied without a pause, his nose wrinkling in distaste. "I'm not leaving this beauty where some bum could take a piss against him." With this emphatic decision he actually took the time to consider the rest of what Star has said; off-roading, well it made sense for the base to be somewhere remote he supposed.

A long drive and fair amount of bickering saw the pair to Camphoreon, where Star was able to use his handy all-purpose Rocketdex to locate some unmarked locked garages owned by Team Rocket. Or rather, owned by a company owned by Team Rocket. KO's precious vehicle was safely stored away in a dark structure alongside something that looked like a hummer and a row of jet skis loaded onto wheeled rigs that could be driven to the water.

Once parked, Star climbed out of the car and paused to fuss with his coat and hair. "I still don't understand why you prefer this to flying. Don't you get tired of having to find a place to put this thing?"
