Considering that Gale had been in the Infirmary for most of their time in the Antarctic, he had not been a participant of the latest mission and therefore was unaware of anything that had gone down during it, including the disappearance of a certain doctor - at least until he had asked Bix about it. But Gale had gotten the same text message as everyone else and had made his way dutifully towards the portal, feeling both apprehensive and a little uneasy over the fact that he had not been a part of the previous mission. He was not usually one to miss them, so the fact that he had was slightly unnerving.
Not to mention what had happened to Julie, back in the Sahara. It was constantly pressing at his mind, filling his thoughts even as he tried desperately to empty his head of anything other than the task at hand.
And he worried about the others as well - about Eva, especially right now, but also about Bix, and Before, and Marcus - and Candace...
Gale did not want to think about it. And since the other side of the portal was an all-too-familiar place, it was, at least, a small, temporary distraction as well.
But not a good one, all things considered.
A gust of hot, humid air rushed to meet Gale as he stepped into their new destination, his clothes immediately sticking uncomfortably to his skin. He felt sweat beading on his neck, still bound around with a scarf, and the sleeves of his jacket clung to his arms.
They were back in the Amazon.
Around him there were hunters moving this way and that, clearly underway with their organizing and setting up. There were stacks of bandages, heaps of various runic weapons (Gale automatically felt at his waist for the chains he had strapped there earlier), and everyone seemed to be moving at an unusually rapid pace - unusual, at least, until Gale caught sight of the reason behind this pace, and then everything made much more sense.
Especially since the look Caelius directed at them was one of complete disgust and irritation. It did not phase Gale, not after all of the identical looks he had received over the past year and a half working under the Death Division Leader, but he did not want to waste the thirty minutes he had being lectured.
He moved towards the tables, his hand reaching out and picking up one of the first things he saw. It was small and blue, and it glowed as he held it in his gloved hand (which was sticking unpleasantly to his skin), and it made him uneasy, but Gale tucked it away anyway, moving along the table.Quote: Modified pendant: can warp you and EVERYONE ELSE WITHIN 5 METERS OF YOUR VICINITY to a designated area. Designated areas later will be revealed. You can do this as many times as you like, but should not warp in the middle of battle.

"Nice." Bix happily made the trade, tucking the FEAR packet into his pocket. "Now we can call each other and gossip. YAY!" Bix flipped his hair for a moment, adopting a valley girl accent. He was trying to be upbeat, trying to stave off the exhaustion that was creeping up on him combined with the sinking feeling laid into him from various high ranking hunters not making it out alive.

Ofelia spotted a trainee she didn't know and she noticed the object in his hand, something important that could be used for a good thing like, well, showing her how to use it. She slowly mosied her wave over to Tedan and held up the communication device, a grin on her face. "Ah've got no ********' idea how this thin' is supposed'ta work. Any ideas?"

Madison cringed as she stepped through the portal; the heat and humidity were like a wall, and in an instant she felt soaked to the skin. And... and oh, goodie, Caelius was here. How wonderful. Yeah, she was going to keep her distance for right now.
The Death trainee sighed as she walked over to the table, picking up a pendant at random; it always made her feel better to have one of them around. It was an escape route if things got bad. Hopefully it wouldn't lead her from the frying pan into the fryer.

This constant sudden change in climate was beginning to grow tiresome. Sahara, Antarctic, Amazon. And it was ******** humid now, too. She had cried for as much time as they had been allotted to rest and recuperate before Caelius decided it was time to move on. She didn't want to move on yet. She didn't want to leave him behind...but they had to.
Candace was silent as they stepped through the portal to the other side, putting her hair up the moment she was blasted with hot, humid air. She then shed her coat and tied it around her waist, taking off the turtleneck she had on underneath and leaving herself in a tanktop. She couldn't take off her pants though. Damn. And these boots...son of a b***h. Her scarf was untied so it just hung loose around her shoulders, making a face at the weather. This...this was the same place they'd..ugh. This sucked. She wanted more time to rest.
She wasn't going to get it. A glance was cast in Clarice's direction as she approached the table, quickly looking away and surveying the supplies they had to pick from. A dagger would do. It would be nice to have a weapon that wasn't only on her feet. She could use all her limbs effectively with this..

Once Rep was kitted out he simply stood back to wait, there wasn't much else to do. A few people were trading up their items. He wondered idly if he should trade his communicator. It'd be nice to be able to call for help in a pinch but at the same there was possibly other items that would be more useful for someone in his role. Talking like a teenage girl seemed a very.. mist, or maybe life thing to do.
Still, he'd hold onto it for the time being, it could make a difference.

As a Death Hunter, though... she probably should go for some tech. After a moment's thought, Madison picked up a communications device, frowning at it. Evidently they were bringing out the big guns of keeping in touch, which implied other methods might not be sufficient.
... Not reassuring.
((Madison has: - Runic Bandages x 1 (licensed Runic carry, brought from Deus HQ, still unused) - Allan's Bandages x 1 - Modified Pendant x 1 - Communications Device x 1))

Actually, from the corner of her eye, Ofelia noticed Jordan had come through the portal and was getting supplies. She wanted to tell him thanks, be all happy for the time he bandaged her, so she looked to the unknown trainee, "Eck, be back in a 'sec gotta say sommin' ta someone", and dashed over to Jordan's side.
She practically tackled him with a hug, as it was her proper way of showing her delight at seeing him and whatever else. The hug actually hurt her, it was a bad idea, but she wanted someone to know that at least one person out there was glad for their existence. "Jorrdan. Whatcha get?"

Ennéa stepped through the portal and blinked, momentarily taken aback. After a week of the bleak whiteness on the antarctic plains, everything here seemed almost blindingly green or shadowy dark. Well, at least it was warm. She was already starting to feel uncomfortable wearing her heavy coat in the humid heat. Ennéa stripped it off and tied it around her waist, enjoying feeling not cold for the first time in a while. She looked curiously around the camp. Then she caught sight of Caelius. Ugh. Any slight feelings of cheer Ennéa had about the change in location quickly disappeared. She'd rather go back and run laps across the ice while dodging killer whales than go on whatever mission Caelius had for them. For a moment, she was half-tempted to sneak back through the portal... but no, she wasn't going to make the same mistakes again. She wouldn't break her promises this time. Ennéa sighed. It couldn't be helped, she'd better get ready. She headed over to the supply table and glumly grabbed the first thing she saw, which was some sort of packet. Ennéa turned it curiously over in her hands and in her mind she felt Baraz's keen interest in the object. What's that? It smells interesting. He asked, temporarily breaking his silent treatment. His grumpiness was undercut by his curiosity, kind of like a cranky cat that just heard the can opener, interested in spite of himself. "Uh... " She read the printed text. "It's a Fear Charge Packet, apparently." Quote: Fear charge packet, a small device that when used on your weapon, automatically gives it a Fear charge instead of having to charge the weapon. Can only be used once, counts as one of your charged attacks.

Jude tucked away the device to where it was easily accessible for now and then just stared at Bix for a long moment before he actually cracked up into laughter. Actual genuine laughter.
Either he was really tired just then or he was really amused at Bix's display. It was likely a little bit of both. Jude reached out and patted Bix on the shoulder a little bit awkwardly but meaning well. Jude was never the best at social interaction, "If we get out of this alive, we'll spend some time together and do each other's hair, like...OH-EM-GEE."
His rigid inhibitions weren't back in place yet, obviously.

Ennéa then surveyed the rest of the supplies. She still had a set of bandages from Allen so she was good on that so she grabbed a barrier dagger instead. She stashed both the packet and the dagger into her pack and then looked around at the milling hunters. Bix had never joked with Jude and gotten a joke back. Better not waste it! "Hair braiding party! MANICURES!!!" The two young men gave each other limp wristed high fives before Bix just cracked up laughing. Yep, they were going crazy.

Candace next picked up a modified FEAR scanner, humming quietly to herself as she inspected it. Did she want this? She'd rather have a communication device; they wouldn't be offering them if they weren't necessary, she figured. Perhaps if she just stayed close to someone else who had one?
Ugh. She still didn't feel well. Just shove the thoughts aside, Candace. You're good at that. Shove them aside, pretend the doctor never existed until you're back safe and sound on Deus and can lock yourself in your room and cry for however long you damn well feel like crying. Just. Stop thinking about him.
Stop. Thinking.
She could do this. You'll do well, Candace. Remember that. That's what you need to remember, Candace. Just keep thinking that to yourself. And never stop fighting.
Rolling a 3: Modified Fear scanner, can trace a Fear-based opponent's Fear attack before they attack, increasing a Hunter's dodge rate. For the next turn, your Hunter has no MISS value, that means you do not need to subtract -6 from your Hunter's attack. One time use.
Candace has: 1 Runic Torch (Clearance pre-mission obtained) 1 set of bandages from Allan (2d20 roll) 1 runic dagger 1 Modified Fear scanner

"Barrier dagger," She slid the blade into her belt to secure it before reaching into the pile again, holding her second item up, "And... This." A pendent.

As he moved silently down the table, carefully evaluating each item ( as much as he could with everyone else picking things up, anyway), Gale reached for several of the items - only to have them slipped out from beneath his fingers before he could pick them up himself.
He wound up with a set of barrier daggers, which he looked at with an inscrutable expression, as though examining them closely.
Then he quietly slipped them beneath his jacket, into the waistband of his pants, opposite the runic chains and waited for their next instructions.Quote: Standard barrier dagger (no restriction access needed), roll 2d20 to defend you and TWO OTHER TARGETS FOR THAT VALUE for a turn. One time use.
