Passing by a woman with clothing as strange to the native lands of Australia made her stop. Raising a questioning brow, her jaw remained open. Her clothing...was it of Japan? She had heard of the land of Warriors in many years of passing drifters, willing to tell their life stories and what they had seen in their many journeys. Jodie had heard of such many stories, she was quite amazed by the Japanese's sudden fixture on honor. Now, if only their influence could span to the Midnight Marauders. She smiled at her witty comment. but now that girl...
"Hey!" she called out to the female, turning around quickly in hopes of catching her before she left on the steep slope down to the coast.〈 ⎔⎔c: 〉

Ayako turned at the shout. Had they been yelling to her? Automatically, she reached for the brush on her back. She had found that it could double as a staff, if need be, mostly be using it to shove people out of the way. There was that young woman, the one she had just passed. Indeed, it seemed that she had been the one shouting to her, so she waited to let the other girl come to her.

"'Ello mate! I haven't seen ya 'round this bush, what brings you to the Koori?" Her thick Australian accent made sure that she was a native, if it weren't for her sharp orienteering skills and knowledge of the village's past.
She wondered how a Japanese woman would had travelled from all the way up top to all the way down here in the Land Down Under. It excited her, the mere thought of having some new blood to teach her how to write in Japanese Kangi. Or was it Romanji? Bah, she didn't know, but maybe this girl could help her some!
"Anyway, welcome to the village! I'm Jodie, the leader of this establishment, or I could say it any more than it being a real pleasure of meeting and greetin' with ya!" She giggled lightly, pressing her thumb on the inside of her sash, a makeshift pocket she assumed. 〈 ⎔⎔c: Ja, I would like quotes very much, otherwise I think the whole RP died and I get to lose on some ACTION! D:

Ayako pulled out a sheaf of small papers, each one with something written on it twice: one in Japanese kanji, one in this place's native tongue. She flipped through them until she found the one she wanted. She showed it to Jodie. "I am Ayako. I cannot talk." it read. She flipped to the next one. "I had lived here for a while, and they had taken my voice when they had come." the second paper, a card, really, read.

Jodie swallowed deeply and blushed pink, "I uh...so sorry to hear 'bout that mate. I uh...don't even know what to say to that!" She scratched her head while unveiling a sheepish smile while she kept her eyes away from her. Was she really mute?
Of all things in the world, she was mute. Now there was no possibility for communication or gasp, even stories! Unless she wrote a lot but then again Jodie didn't know how to read.
'Who took her voice...?' Jodie thought wistfully, narrowing her eyes for even a second.

((changing up how it shows that she's writing, not speaking a little bit @.@))
"Same ones who destroyed our home." she wrote this on the backside of one of the papers, using a brush of a much more normal size. She wrote in the kanji first, quickly, then more slowly in the other language. "My descent might be different, and I might have just come back from there, but this is my home as much as yours."

I'm the very reason why this village survives today mate! Ya should give me credit I think!" She scoffed angrily and crossed her arms, exposing her pushed up cleavage without knowing it. Sighing she returned to her gaze and offered an apologetic smile, her shoulder slumping down. "Ay, I'm suuuper sorry mate, just no one gives me credit anymore! Just drifters here, there everywhere!" She scoffed again, looking into the clear blue Australian bred sky. "Ya heading down to the beach friend? You should watch out for the steep hill that goes down there, since you're mute no one can save ya but that big fiddly pen of yours!"〈 ⎔⎔c: 〉

Ayako grinned. "This is a brush, and it does a lot more than paint or write. It knocks people aside and works as a walking staff, too. It's not as heavy as it looks, either. Want to try it out?"
