Aurian sprinted down the rocky tunnels. She cut corners were she could, trying to give herself the best lead over the gas that she could. When she reached the pool, she made a running dive into the water. Hesitation was for weaker Reapers than Aurian.

Something bit her as she swam. Aurian kicked out at it and continued on. Light from above indicated that Aurian had made it through. She broke the surface and pulled herself out of the water. There was no break to catch her breath this time, Aurian just ran straight on.

The way ahead began closing in. Aurian sighed, dropping to her hands and knees to crawl through. She tried to keep an eye out for spiders this time. Stupid things that had taken her out last time.

Her caution kept her safe. Aurian made it through to the next room. There was no sign of purple gas here, but Aurian couldn't waste any time.


If your natural form is bigger than that of an average dog, take -5 HP

There was a door on the far side of the room. As Aurian moved, the door began to close. Cursing, Aurian summoned her scythe. Running at the door, she readied her weapon. If she could just hit the door, surely it would break the closing mechanism.

Aurian swung. It connected. Something sparked and the doors shuddered to a halt. Aurian ran through. A War clans person waited on the other side. The winged warrior nodded at her, then pointed her in the direction of the exit.

The Toxic Cave

Sometimes you just end up in places not really… good for scaring. Or just not good for one’s health. Which oddly enough, can be a toxic cave filled with noxious gas. Sent down an elevator, students wait at the bottom as they are sealed in. Even those who can fly find they must go down…to get back up. Several outposts exist in the cavern to make sure that no one ends up dead, horsemen having taken a certain mixture that allows them temporary immunity. A clank and a light purple gas starts to fill the room. The test has begun, so students better start to run!

-If your student falls into two or more of the automatic HP reductions, please only apply one! You may ignore the others.
-If you use a save start at the place you left off


Stage 1
RNG 1-3 in your FIRST post. Subtract one to see how many lives you have. (IE get a 2, subtract 1 you have 1 save)


Stage 2

Running, the hall ends in a pit. You need to descend into the thick of the poison haze to go further. But- it’s hard to see where it might be safe. Thick ropes hang from the ceiling and rocks just from the sides. Roll 1 d4 to advance!
1- You grab the rope and slide your way down but ouch! Rope burn! -5 HP
2- You try to go down the walls… and make it! Better move though the gas is thick down here!
3- You jump down… not the best idea. -10 HP
4- You try the walls but miss a step, falling you end up knocked out (Fail)
If your a student that can fly/has wings in any form, you take an automatic -5 HP


Stage 3

Running down yet another hall, you have to dive into a pool of dark water and swim through a tunnel.
Roll 1 d6 to see what happens.

1- You manage to swim quickly and reach the other side just in time!
2- Fish bones dig into you, slowing you down and making you swallow some water! -10 HP
3- Weird. It feels like- Uh oh. You somehow managed to end up at a dead end. No time- you fall back and the gas overtakes you(Fail)
4- Something brushes past your body but lucky enough, you make it to the other side.
5- You try swimming up too soon and bump your head! -5 HP
6- Something bit you, but you can’t tell what, -5 HP
If your student is aquatic, or fire based -5 HP automatically


Stage 4

The path seems to be getting smaller, looks like you’ll have to crawl you way out but- which path do you take? Roll 1 d8.
1 and 3- You run into a spider who bites you for a nasty sting! -10 HP
2 and 4- You end up taking a wrong turn and hit your head! -10 HP
5 and 7- You managed it somehow to crawl you way to the next room, which has yet to be filled with that gas
6 and 8- You get lost and get…sleepy… (fail!)
If your natural form is bigger than that of an average dog, take -5 HP


Stage 5
The last part of the tunnel! You can see light at the end but-
It seems that in order to get there, you’ll have to beat the doors that are closing, trying to trap you in the poison caverns! Just as you make it to the end- the door slams down, leaving you stuck. You’ll have to break your way through!
Roll to attack! For each miss -10 HP, you may keep going until you break free or pass out. You only need to hit the door once.
For year 3, you must subtract 8 versus the normal 6! It seems the horsemen expect a bit more from you.

On her last day with the War Clan, Aurian decided to repeat the Toxic Cave again. She'd tried all the training exercises twice, and had the most success on this course. She wanted to see if it was possible to repeat her win from the day before.

As the elevator descended, Aurian replayed the course in her mind. She knew the best paths to take, it would just be a matter of hoping nothing interfered.

She limbered up while waiting for the elevator to arrive in the cave. When the doors open, Aurian began running. She barely needed the light from the torches down here - she knew exactly when the caves would curve, which areas to avoid due to sudden dips or rising stalagmites.

This time Aurian recalled the painful rope burn she usually received before reaching the pit. It had never actually hindered her progress, though, so Aurian felt safe to take the fastest way down. Once at the bottom, Aurian dropped the rope and continued to run.

Next came the pool of water and the tunnel she'd need to swim through to make it to the following cave. Aurian mentally compared her previous two attempts as she approached. The course she'd set the first time had almost caught her in some kind of blockage. Her second try had involved something that bit, but it had been the lesser risk of the two. Aurian discarded the idea of trying a completely new path underwater. She'd deal with whatever was trying to take a bite of her rather than risk running into a dead end.

Diving into the water, Aurian swam along the last path she'd taken. Sure enough, something bit at her arm. She brushed it aside and swam faster. Then she was through and kicking her way up into the next cave.

She made good time dragging herself from the water and starting down the only tunnel that led from the cave. As before, she wound up crawling as the tunnel grew smaller. Part-way through, a wave of exhaustion hit Aurian. The previous day's classes must have taken a larger toll than she'd thought. Surely it would be okay if she closed her eyes and rested for a second...

No! Aurian shook herself and forced her eyes open. They'd only been closed for a few seconds, but Aurian knew how dangerous that could have been. Behind her the gas was closing in - a minute more and Aurian might not have woken up unless one of the War clans members had interfered again.

Aurian continued on.

The next cave rumbled as the doors began to close. Aurian knew this part as well. She rushed for the door as the room trembled. Whipping out her scythe, she swung at the doors.

It was a strong hit. Aurian winced as she noticed the cut across the stone doors. They had ground to a halt, which had been her only concern at the time. Now she wondered if the Clan would be made about the damage.

Aurian slunk out the door and tried to look innocent as she passed by a Clans member. Nothing to see here, or back in there...
