As she explored other rooms, staying back from the edge but otherwise feeling fairly confident as the construction seemed quite stable, she kept seeing more horsemen flying past. Something about it slowly came to worry her. It just seemed very odd that there might be that many of the War clansmen gathering, especially well-armed and looking like they were preparing for something, and yet the visiting students wouldn't have been told about it. Obviously, the horsemen would need to keep up with their normal activities, but there were a lot of figures heading in the same direction.
Well, there wasn't anyone here to ask about it even if she thought she would get an answer. So she found another ladder and started to climb back down. There was one point when a gust of wind caught the ladder, and she had to pause to calm herself down, but overall she felt like she was somewhat getting the hang of the heights.
Maybe. Hopefully. It might have just been wishful thinking, though.

Once again, the ghoul found some time to sneak off to the open canopy (which is decidedly her new favourite haunt) after a long day's worth of activity. The cozy setting in the place looked very inviting, but Edel knew better than to make herself too comfortable here, knowing the kind of trouble she might possibly get into (no, she did not want a fight to the death here). Taking care not to needlessly touch or disturb anything in the room, the frost demon moved over to examine a rather exquisite painting that was on display, remarking that it was rather tastefully done in adherence to the theme.
Trust Edel to know about art.

Just as she thought she might be able to relax here, the sight of yet some more horsemen flying towards the portal, all heavily armed, perturbed her deeply. Were the ones they sent yesterday still not enough? Or were they just the same people making their rounds? As much as she would like to think it was the latter, she knew it really couldn't be.
Unable to overcome the feelings of unsettlement and that something was going really wrong on the other side, the ghoul decided that she could not stay here any longer and would retire to the dorms to rest.

Roch had been exploring. He caught sight of the canopy, which looked rather awesome, and headed straight for it, climbing up the ladder into the comfortable looking room--
Except it didn't look that comfortable at the moment, he thought as he looked around. There were black feathers everywhere, he thought, crouching down and picking one up. And there were claw marks on the floor.
His finger went out, tracing the groove next to the feather with a curious expression. There were some over there, too, he thought, moving a few feet to the right and crouching down again. It looked like they'd really gone at it...

There was something shiny under one of the benches. It caught his eye, and Roch's hand shot out, grabbing another one of those shiny things and slipping it into his pocket.
Then, pulling out his phone and snapping a quick pic, Roch slipped out of the canopy and left it, not wanting to be caught there, either.

This structure seemed similarly furnished to the one that he had explored with Alexander. Yin noted this, looking around to see if there was anything different that might catch his eye as he surveyed the room.
On one wall was a single image displayed. He approached it to get a better look, noting the copious splashes of red but altogether a rather nice and happy image. The clan members looked delighted, and there seemed to be a few humans detached from their heads.

The fireplace seemed as though it would be warm an inviting so Yin checked there as well. There were a few scraps of parchment and he picked them up curiously, turning them over in his hands.
There were a few markings visible but nothing he could make any sense of so he simply placed them back. One last lingering gaze swept the room and he exited. For now.

Riley watched the ghoul leave as well, though when she felt Ulmuka's eyes on her, she turned to meet them. He was very polite, which Riley adored. Manners were high on her list of priorities, so every move that Ulmuka made to show her his manners left her with a favorable impression of him. She was slightly surprised when he started to explain his faults in social matters, considering how polite he spoke. He was trying to explain something, but in a rather roundabout way, so her face was pinched slightly as she tried to decipher where he was taking the conversation, until he completed it. The confusion left her, in place of rather unabashed surprise.
Well. I. Thank you. Your confidence in me is greatly appreciated, as is your offer. The news of his sibling disturbed her, leaving a dread in her heart as he said it, but as he was already preparing to leave, she didn't push. She gave him her hand, though the clack made her flicker her gaze down to it when she heard it, and lifted that same hand in a slow wave as he dived off the platform.
She felt like she'd just learned far more about one person in two minutes time than she'd ever been able to before. She continued to mull over Ulmuka's words, even as she moved to search the area once more. She found little in the way of new information, though another band of warriors flew by, headed for the portal again. Whatever they were off to fight seemed harder than they'd previously expected..

And there they went again, another group following past the first one. Riley had to stop and stare at the sheer number of warriors, armed to the teeth, that looked ready for battle as they flew towards the portal. Was there a war going on that she did not know about?
She immediately floated off the platform, intent to go back to the dorms and check up on Jericho and the status of Amityville at the moment.

Eris landed silently on the edge of the balcony, bare feet making no noise against the worn surface of the wood -- it seemed she had discarded her normal stilettos in favor of the more natural fashion of her clan. Which seemed more practical anyway, all things considered, heels not only unnecessary but likely a hindrance in the forest. Still, her blood red garb had not changed, still vibrant compared to the dark earthy tones seen frequently by the other War members -- as she stepped forward, the material made a soft rustling sound as it trailed across the floor. Snapping her wings gently closed, War's heir crossed the room without much attention spared for anyone else in the room, the barest flick of her eyes in their direction the only indication she had seen them at all. In that instant, her eyes slid up and down each student's frame, assessing them briefly before moving on, as likely each of the War clan had done to the students. Observation, as the students would quickly learn if they hadn't already, was a key practice amongst the winged group.
Approaching one of the many surprisingly-plush couches which lined the area, Eris seated herself casually, leaning back against the arm to position herself leisurely across the cushion. While it hadn't seemed to be a hostile glance she'd given the others, there also wasn't much of an indication that she was going to instigate a conversation -- perhaps a few of the bolder students might try, if they were so inclined.
(Feel free to try to strike up a conversation, if you'd like, or feel free to ignore her! Eris may or may not answer, depending on the question and the way it is asked <3)

Holly had decided to do some exploring. That had led her to the Open Canopy area. She'd entered the lowest of the buildings and saw there really wasn't any one in there. No students or any clan members. Then there was a load noise. A kind of shrieking noise. The ghoul looked out of what could be only described as a window and saw a bunch of birds-like things. They were all staring at her. As she walked their eyes followed her. Creepy very creepy.
To creepy. Holly left the room to go look into a different one that hopefully didn't have the birds.

Better. Holly found another of the canopy rooms. This one wasn't surrounded by the creepy birds. This one actually had people in it. She took a seat by the fireplace. Really she didn't know why there was a fireplace here but hey, maybe it did get cold here. The fire wasn't lit but there was something in there. Bits of paper. She picked one of them up. Looked like pieces of a map. But to what?

As Edel entered the Open canopy as she did at the end of each day, she was suddenly acutely aware of the Heir of War's presence in the room. Had she been intruding into the noble Horsewoman's private abode? Eris did look very comfortable sitting amongst the cushions, and it was clear from her body language that she was not at all keen on initiating a conversation. Unconsciously, the ghoul gravitated towards the other end of the room, nearing herself to the fireplace. It was questionable why a frost demon would seek to be near an open flame, but perhaps she had considered that possibly incurring the horsewoman's ire to be even more deadly.
A quick glance was cast upon the open flame and the ghoul spotted something rather curious amongst the cinders – what seemed to be fragments of a burnt and charred ... map?

Edel wasn't curious or foolish enough to go nearer to the flame to get a closer look, though she did take a few paces around the fireplace to simply observe the burning notes at different angles. The ghoul was becoming more and more convinced that it was indeed what used to be a map, but a map of where? And why the need to burn it?
The ghoul looked out towards the sky beyond the balcony, trying to piece together what she had been observing within and outside the room so far. War clansmen, heavily armed and flying towards the portal, evidence of a fight within this room and a burnt map. Was there something serious going on in Halloween while they were here?

The strix was fond of this room since his first day. He flew and landed gently. Over the three days he'd abandoned many of his trappings from home in an effort to fit in. His shoes had been the first to go, taloned feet padding softly on the wood. The second day he'd lost his vest and tailored shirt. Instead he wore a light t-shirt and athletic pants which he'd purchased in the maul months before. It was a strange look for the normally formal strix but he was becoming more flexible in his visit here. He'd never thought that he would enjoy the art of war, weapons making and fighting, as much as he did.
The black feathers dusted over the floorboards but Muka realized he hadn't explored much more of the room when he'd met Edel here. The strix drifted close to the fireplace. It was full of black ashes, obviously used in the last few days. He picked through, poking out pieces of scrap that hadn't been fully charred. They looked like pieces of a larger document. Perhaps a map?
