Yeah, it was definitely time to leave after that, and fortunately there was a five minute break there to let them shimmy out to stretch their legs and call it good. She probably could have sat through the last of those films by herself, but she now had a slightly worked up Jericho in her company, so she was anxious to get going.

Still, she couldn't help but keep glancing back at him to make sure he hadn't just stopped to leer at somebody suspiciously to make sure they didn't twitch in a suspicious manner as they walked by. Okay, so Jericho had better control than that, but still...

Maybe she was just paranoid in a completely different way than Insanity would have made her.

"I didn't realize that one was actually going to be portraying the 'Silent Hill' region in the manner it always seems to be in. I was hoping a bit more of the dark-and-gritty that they have in some of the only-to-DVD releases they've done of the region." It was expected from a small short, though.

Even as she headed out the gate, however, she finally fished what she was looking for out of her pocket, turning on Jericho to hand the envelope to him.

"For you."

Jericho was still tense even after they left the theater. He was slowly relaxing though. It was just.. taking a bit of time for him. It wasn't easy to brush away, especially with his affliction.

"No kidding.." he murmured while eyeing their surroundings very carefully.

Though, his attention was soon grabbed as Shehk had handed something to him. Blinking, he glanced down at the envelope, then back up at the undead canine. He was a bit confused, yes. But at the same time there was a surge of excitement. She was giving him something? The interest showed in his eyes.

"What's this?" he asked as he took the envelope. He looked it over for the moment, then opened it up to see what was inside.

There were two things inside the envelope:

One was a very painstakingly drawn map. It probably had taken Shehk a few hours to draw. In ink. She'd even burned the edges to add some authenticity to it. The map itself seemed to be the area they were in, the Maul, and pretty much the entire town, actually. Despite the edges being burned, there was still a grid drawn out on it, numbered in one direction, lettered in the other. There was a very distinct X drawn on it as well.

The other thing inside of the envelope was a piece of paper that read out pretty clearly:

Quote:

You have the beginning and the end. Now you must find the key that will get you the prize.

I'm sure it will be easy. At least For You.

Shehk was simply grinning, not saying anything to see how he'd react to it.

Taking the things out, Jericho tilted his head as he unfolded what looked like an old hand drawn map. It took him a moment to realize that it was of the region they were in. He could see various landmarks and whatnot on the map that matched up with how they were in reality. Aside from that, there was a rather distinct 'x' drawn at one part. Now he was very intrigued indeed.

After examining the map a little longer, he took out the slip of paper, which gave him a rather short clue.

This was....

"A treasure hunt!" he exclaimed, sounding rather excited. Oh his eagerness was burning now. A key. A key. Where did they even begin? He quickly paused though, to look towards the Pricolici with a grin.

"Did you set this up?"

She seemed even more excited about it all now. The reason she'd been grinning so much had completely been over that 'AHA!' moment she had been hoping all her preparation had been leading up to. And it had totally happened. Oh, this was so exciting.

"I did. Took me a little bit, but I already know I'm going to get my money's worth watching you." she was practically grinning from ear to ear now. 'Do something they like' was definitely the best advice she'd ever taken to heart. She could have given him a treasure....or she could have given him the excitement of getting the treasure himself. Somehow, she imagined the hunt would be the part that would linger on at the end of it all anyways.

"You're holding your first clue there as to where to go, it'll be obvious when you figure it out, I hope." she nodded towards the paper with the small description on it.

It had been awhile since it last happened, but Jericho was actually feeling kind of giddy about this. A treasure hunt! If his eyes could sparkle, they probably would have been right about now. Grinning like a fool, he thought about all of this, but then gave Shehk a more warm smile after she answered him.

"Wow.. You really didn't have to go through all the trouble.." he said. He was surprised really. And kind of touched in a way. She had to do quite a bit of planning to set something up like this, and not a whole lot of time had even passed.

Oh right. The clue.

Nodding, he looked back down at the slip of paper to read it over once more. The beginning and the end... Well one idea came to mind, but he wasn't really sure if it was right. The dragon figured he'd give it a show anyway.

"Do you have the key?" he asked with a raised brow.

"It isn't trouble to me at all." Shehk answered, beaming. "Totally and completely worth it." Just the look on his face had her getting all sorts of warm fuzzies going on. All of them. Everywhere.

However, she watched as he looked at the clue, watching to see what he'd do next, before she laughed, shaking her head. "I have a key, but not the key you want. The key I have is not for you." she made a point to emphasize her pronunciation of 'For You', as if to draw his attention to those words in particular. There were letters and numbers on the map like a grid, right? Perhaps she was simply making sure her hint hadn't been too vague.

Plus it made a bit more sense when spoken out loud.

Grinning for the moment, Jericho tilted his head as she emphasized certain words there. Furrowing his brow, he looked at the clue and the map. Hmmm... The dragon began to pace about as he thought it over. You. You. Well, there was a grid here. Looking it over some more, he went ahead and tried to see if he could match it up onto the map at all. It was worth a shot.

There was definitely a column that was the letter 'U'. Which just meant Jericho needed to figure out which number went with it, right? The boxes were kind of small areas, too, which meant that the coordinates of '4U' matched up with a shop that was on the other side of the Maul.

A little bit more of looking and futzing around with what letters and numbers were there, Jericho had a good feeling he had something more solid this time around. Tiling his head a bit, he looked at the 4u location before looking up and around to get his bearings.

"I think I know where it is," he said before beginning to jog in that direction, "Come on!"

It wasn't too far off if he had it right.

Shehk grinned. "We'll see!" she said, jogging along after the dragon, her tail wagging back and forth quite contently.

The shop itself was an innocent enough looking place, nothing too unusual about it. It was a simple shop that sold prank spells and other silly novelties that could be found amusing like that - such as books on how to alter spells to have hilarious blowback effects, vanishing inkjars that made minipets turn from a special color slowly to invisible, and exploding wands. They were the sort of thing that would appeal especially to students who were not magically inclined and couldn't do such things themselves.

The outside of the shop, however, seemed to have less splendor to it, having a wooden sign that was set out front of it, painted in dark purple with bright yellow lettering with the name of the location on it.

TRICKSTER'S EMPORIUM
For All your Playful Needs!

There was a small slide-in pocket where different in-store specials could be slid into it to update to recent changes. There wasn't actually anything in there, besides a blank sheet of paper that was left completely flat. The corner of it was folded back, however, and the beginning of some writing could be seen on it.

Curiously, Jericho looked through the window of the store, which seemed to have quite a few interesting trinkets and whatnot. It might be something he'd have to check out at some point. For now, he was working on examining the outside of the shop to make sure there wasn't something out there. It would be easier spotting something outside than inside.. given everything in there.

The dragon took some time to examine the sign and everything really. After a short while, he noticed something about the slip of paper for the specials was. Furrowing his brow, he reached for it and tried to see if there was anything about it. If not, he'd just put it back in and move on to the next thing.

Shehk watched him as he investigated, tail still wagging a mile a minute. It was kind of fun to watch him doing something that caught his interest, at least - pat of her wondered if this was a glimpse of the Jericho that was being eaten away at by the bouts of paranoia. The kind that went out on adventures and treasure hunts and stuff.

Still, when Jericho pulled out the paper and looked at the back it said simply:

Quote:
Do you know how to read invisible ink? There's writing on the back. Good thing I know you're warm enough to pull this off.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 24, 2012 11:51 pm

It did have something! The next clue! Grinning, he looked over at Shehk, then back down at it. Well, he actually didn't know how to read invisible ink. But the use of warmth actually gave him an idea. He really hoped he was right.. otherwise he'd just screw himself over here.

And so he began to focus his fear into the hand holding the slip of paper, increasing the amount of heat in it. The area around where his fingers grasped began to slowly burn away first.

The more he grinned, the more she would grin back.

Shehk made a small 'EEK' noise as the paper began to burn. Sure, she could tell him what was on it if he just reduced that to char, but around where the heat was pushing through the paper, the ink - homemade, and thus food based - began to 'cook', causing it to be exposed in a brownish color.

You're getting warmer! Hee hee, literally, I bet!

There is one more stop between you and a key by now.
