Riza frowned at Crenu's quick, and almost monotonous reply. Intense? Sure, one could call it that, but it almost seemed more like it was bordering on abusive than intense. Riza glanced at Ariados' poke ball hoping the spider Pokemon hadn't suffered too much. "I don't know," she answered, shrugging her shoulders. "You seem a bit tense, is all." She couldn't see how he could be tense, considering their previous night together, but at the same time, she was certain there was something going on with him. Something that he didn't feel safe sharing with her. "Ah, nevermind," the dark haired girl said sharply. It was a new day and time to put everything negative behind them, or so she hoped. Since it was still relatively early the lineup was short and before long their Pokemon had received treatment and they were free to head off to the cafeteria.
"It's really nice outside," she said off handedly as she gathered food for her Pokemon, though quickly realizing it would take at least two trips. Diemia's appetite had certainly increased since her evolution from a tiny little Corphish. She spread out the bowls of Pokemon food and let her team out one by one. She expected Diemia to still be upset with Yula, but that didn't seem to be the case. The Gardevoir and Crawdaunt simply exchanged glances, nodded respectfully and began to enjoy their respective breakfasts. Only Plua cawed and glared at everyone as she pecked viciously at her own food. 'Cranky sourpuss,' Riza thought, almost wishing she hadn't bothered to capture the Fearow. * * * * * 'Oh my god is he ever fast,' Katie thought, her chest heaving as she chased after her Elekid, and she felt a painful mixture of relief and embarrassment when she saw Kord hugging the Electivire's leg. The Electivire didn't seem to mind and in fact looked rather amused as he gave the Elekid a little jolt with one of its cable-like tails. Kord cheered happily, not caring that he was shooting off bolts of static in all directions. Katie eyed the tall boy in his yellow and black shirt as she neared them, a bit amused at how well he matched his Pokemon, but she kept that to herself. "Yeah, he's mine," she huffed, annoyed at herself for being so out of shape.
"Sorry about that. He's never seen an Electivire before and I guess he got all excited," she said, standing up straight once her breathing returned to normal. It was then that she noticed just how tall the boy was, and her ruby eyes widened slightly. 'These two make Kord and I look rather puny,' she thought, smirking a bit. Kord didn't seem to care too much about the difference in size, however. He was far too happy to have met another electric-type. "I guess it's pretty obvious, but I'm assuming he's yours," Katie went on, nodding at the Electivire, and then back to the boy. "I bet he's really strong."

Scarlet saw off Jasper with a wave. “Good luck! I hear those things are pretty strong. … Y’know, after they take a few minutes to register the fact that they’re in a fight.” With that, the group of three split up, the party rogue off to the well in town to battle some of those Slowpoke. As Scarlet and Jett started off to the area behind the Pokemon Center, Scarlet tore away at the plastic wrapping around his shiny new TM case. He opened up the casing and popped out the purple tinted disc.
“Wha’d you end up getting, Jett?”
Scarlet popped out his pokedex and slid the disc into a slot on the right of the device. A selection menu appeared on the face of the encyclopedia, and with a tap on the screen, Terumi had acquired the ability to shoot a noxious ball of poison and hate at his foes. In retrospect, Scarlet noted, Maybe this was an awful idea…
But there was no real time for regret. Scarlet dug out the Gastly’s pokeball and released it in a flash of white. It hovered there with a confused scowl, surveying the area. It glanced over at Jett, its scowl deepening a tiny bit. The black haired human was the first to defeat him under Scarlet’s command. That wasn’t even counting the last horrible match, with that horrible Swampert. If Terumi’s scowl could get any deeper, it might’ve warped his terrible good looks. It turned its direction to Scarlet, its eyes narrowing.
“Hey, calm down. I know you’re mad, but in my defense, uh…” Scarlet stroked his chin, and his brows knitted in focus. “… Uh,” he said again, but he was drawing a blank, and the Gastly was drawing back to slam its nonexistent skull into Scarlet’s nonexistent brain. “… So I bought you a poison grenade and you should be very, very happy with me because you can stop with the licking.”
Terumi at that moment realized he was dealing with a dumbass. A dumbass that would tell his angry poison type that it has access to a move that could probably kill him. The Gastly’s eyes widened in a mix of horror, confusion, and surprise.
“Yeah! I thought you’d like that!”
Terumi just hovered there for a moment, stunned into silence.

Thankfully, the nurses were fast and responsive. They even knew the guy’s name: Kressen. And apparently Kressen came there often, which was either good or terrible for his Charmander. The bad part was that head-on collisions with walls were apparently a habitual occurrence for the poor guy.
He… does this often? she wanted to ask. Instead, the nurses got a curt nod. They kindly decided to shuttle off Kressen to fix his skull, leaving behind the whining Charmander. Roll waddled over, patting the lizard on the shoulder with a sympathetic growl. Alex herself knelt down beside him, putting a hand on his head.
“He’ll be okay,” she promised the little lizard with a rare smile.
“Chansey are beyond good at healing things,” came the monotone voice from behind. Alexis glanced back, blinking, at the black haired boy. “I should get me one of ‘em one day. Well, if your friend’s alright, I think I’ll get back to it. Later, Squirt.”
Alexis watched as he walked off to the desk, then looked back to the Charmander. “We’ll stay here with you until um… Kressen gets back. How does that sound?”
The fact that she and the rest of the little group had almost been murdered by a marauding band of raging flying needles was completely lost on her, at least for now. Just yesterday, Alex was worried about Roll after her run in with the bulbasaur. It had to be similar for Kressen’s Charmander, and that kind of worry wasn’t something he’d wish on anyone.

The Bayleef emerged from her Pokeball with an enthusiastic cry, readying herself for the battle to come. Her trainer didn't seem as confident; Amy still appeared quite shaky from the encounter between Bulbasaur and Lee and her yet again losing, but she was determined not to let Tina gain the upper hand. Hopefully, Lee took care of most of it, and Flora will save her strength for Tina's second Pokemon. Praying her assumption was correct, Amy began to order for an attack, but swiftly realized that it wouldn't be very effective either way. A Grass-type won't have much luck in here, huh? Then again, a Fighting-type didn't, and Marshall wouldn't stand a chance... Guess we might not do as well as I had hoped. She glanced quickly at her Pokedex, trying to see if Flora was capable of anything aside from Tackle that would make a dent in Bulbasaur's remaining health... and, much to her surprise, discovered a new move.
"Magical Leaf," she murmured, testing the command on her tongue. Tina narrowed her eyes at the brunette, growing more and more impatient at the seconds ticked by. It couldn't be any worse, I guess. "Magical Leaf, Flora!" The Bayleef in question sounded an affirmative and the leaf atop her head began to glow a strange color. A few moments later, and Flora was loosing several vibrant leaves that sliced through the air like her Razor Leaf attack. But this was different. It's so pretty, Amy realized, slightly taken aback. And when Bulbasaur began to move out of the way, they shifted ever so slightly in the air, as if tracking the little Pokemon. Then they were slicing into him, eliciting a sharp cry of pain. Bulbasaur's legs buckled out from under him and he collapsed on the ground, trembling and struggling to keep his eyes open. It seemed that Lee was much stronger than he looked.
"Good job," Tina said, begrudgingly. She recalled the Seed Pokemon and retrieved another Pokeball from her belt, tossing it up in the air. A Pokemon that seemed covered in writhing vines appeared, shrieking at Flora and Amy. From behind the vines, two wide eyes peered out at them. "Tangela, let's show 'em what we're made of!"

Jade's arms folded across her chest, eyes sharp as she watched her newest team member waddle forward, hurrying as much as he could, before he leapt forward and raked his claws across Bibarel's face. Her scowl had ceased to show any irritability; at this point, her frown was more thoughtful than before. She had been taught so long that it was key to remain serene in the midst of battle (don't let your opponents know what you're thinking, the kimono women had told her), but she reveled in not restraining her expression. If I'm going to feel something, then I'm sure as hell going to feel it and not just bottle it up.
So, of course, Jade allowed herself a wince when Bibarel's Tackle attack struck true. Aquarius let out a cry of pain and tumbled back, little arms flailing as he tried to regain solid footing. The raven-haired girl took a deep breath and tried to think of some other means of battle. It's kind of difficult when you have a movepool of two attacks... Her eyes flickered to the ground, remembering how the battlefield had gotten soaked from the clash of Water Guns. Some spots seemed particular muddy, she noticed.
"Water Sport, Aquarius," Jade called, a plan already blooming in her mind. The Psyduck was much more compliant to soak himself as opposed to charging his larger, scarier opponent. He tilted his head back and let out a stream of water to pour down on him, even though he was confused as to the purpose. Wasn't it only good for weakening Fire-type moves? "You should attack first now," the trainer said to Jake with a small smile, nodding a little. "Let's see what you two are made of."

Jett felt a bit sad that Jasper was going off to train by himself (they were friends, right?), but he knew that everyone needed some alone time. He imagined that they could all benefit from a few hours of solitude to think. A lot of things are moving so fast, he thought, recalling the first badge he had earned earlier today. And tomorrow, he would hopefully add another to his collection after a battle with Bugsy. And after that? Well, the sky seemed to be the limit, didn't it? Goldenrod was a big place and he could challenge the third leader there or head to another region or just hang out for a few days. The thoughts occupied him all the way to the small training area outside the PokeCenter, where he began to retrieve his own TMs from his bag.
"Oh, I just got Pluck," he replied, lifting up the sky blue disc. "But I also have the one from Falkner and the HM I bought in Violet." Nothing for River, he thought sadly as he released Aerosmith and Athena. But she'll-- he'll sit this one out, anyways, and I can get him something in Goldenrod. Athena's new, larger form still surprised the boy, but he smiled at the duo nonetheless. "Tomorrow, we're going to challenge Bugsy and get another badge, all right?" They seemed quite cheered by the idea. "But today, we ought to train, I think. Especially because I got you these..." He lifted up the TMs with a small smile. "Athena, you first." After a few minutes of fumbling, Jett decided he would follow Scarlet's example and managed to teach the Noctowl both Pluck and Aerial Ace. Setting the now useless discs aside, he quickly taught the Beautifly the HM Flash and stored it for any possible later use.
"Now that we're all refreshed, how about we get to training?"

Suddenly, Kasiya's voice lost its shaking. It didn't sound like she was crying anymore - a sound (or lack thereof) that really comforted Ryka. Kassie could stay strong through this, of course she would, and Ryka knew that she had to do the same. The girl took a deep breath to calm herself and stop the tears from forming, only to start giggling at Kasiya's last comment. "Why do bad things happen to good people, indeed..." She twisted her body around so that her feet were firmly on the floor, the Pokenav precariously balanced between her shoulder and ear as she pushed herself off the sofa. Memories of all the times that they'd spent together flooded her thoughts, and she couldn't help but smile at them. It was so hard to focus on the positive, on the good things that had happened instead of the tragedy that just occured. But that's what Kassie would do right now. I need to be strong, like her. For her.
Ryka spoke as she stretched her arms in front of her. "The report did say missing, not...d-dead." It hurt a little to say that word. "I'm sure he's out there, right? Yeah, he must be. He's strong, he wouldn't let a little water hurt him.." A smile spread on her face as she muttered things to herself. This convincing herself thing was working very well. Not even convincing herself - it was just as likely that he survived, too. He had to be somewhere. "Just lost somewhere. Right?"
The sun shone through the windows on the Pokemon Center, illuminating Ryka's face, her confident smile. Today is a new day. No more crying, no more relying on Kasiya to calm her like a mother - Ryka could handle it. "I'm going to find him." She spoke matter-of-factly, perhaps a little too loud in the small Pokemon Center. "He's out there, and I will search for him." She sat back down on the couch behind her and ruffled the fur of the Skitty who had just awoken. As she calculated her next move, her eyes widened with anticipation. "Kassie, where are you now? We should meet up soon...we could look for him together!"

Kimiko felt a harsh chill down her spine as she stared at the wriggling bellsprout. "I'm so glad I'm not you right now Kadaj!" The eevee gave a cry in disgust, "What? I'm sorry! It's true!" she protested. Kadaj looked back over at the bellsprout which was now gyrating, he got caught in the soulless eyes, they had a strange look to them. Could it be undressing him with it's eyes? A murmur can be heard, there was a pause and then a louder shout. Kajad napped out of it, "HEY! Wake up! Tackle that son of a b***h!" Kimiko roared. Kadaj hesitated, he wondered if he hurled himself into those wriggling tentacles would he be able to get out with only minor emotional trama. "DO IT!" Kimiko ordered, He shut his eyes and flung himself onto the creepy pokemon hoping for the best.
By the time the Bonsly got back up a forceful jet of water smacked against it. The small pokemon was launched back and smacked to the ground hard. "Hey! Get up!" the trainer ordered, the Bonsly staggered back up and limped over infront of the Slowpoke again. "Flail!" the trainer barked. The little bonsly limmped further over and began to flail about in a pathetic maner.

It was fairly safe to say that there was certainly no spring in Keegan's step as he trudged back to the Pokemon Center, having decided to push his bike and delay the inevitable as long as possible. Helios plodded along at his side, apparently indifferent to the matter, but Keegan knew the Ninetales well enough to know that the fox had received an unnecessary ego boost, but being specifically requested in order to sire special offspring would probably do wonders for anyone's confidence. Even still, Keegan was reluctant to part with his very first and easily most-trusted Pokemon, even if he would be getting him back in a couple of days at most. I should demand a cut of the profit, the redhead thought glumly, watching the proud Ninetales walk beside him. Helios turned his head slightly and grinned a sly grin. Keegan chuckled and ran his hand over the fox's fur. Despite their harsh past several days, Helios had managed to remain rather tidy and Keegan was glad for that, as those nine tails were certainly a b***h to brush. "Well old friend, have yourself a nice vacation," he said as they reached the Pokemon Center, and Keegan recalled the preening Pokemon into his Pokeball. He took his sweet, sweet time re-logging in to one of the PCs in the corner, ignoring the confused look the nurse was wearing. At least one of us will be getting lucky, he thought as the sphere flashed and then vanished, but then his mind reminded him of Mai and he blushed furiously, drumming his fingertips loudly on the desktop as Helios' Pokeball was replaced by the Great Ball that held his ill-tempered Skarmory.
This time, as Keegan once again left the Mauville City Pokemon Center, he jammed his phone deeply into his pocket, silently vowing that if it rang again so soon, he'd throw it against a tree and be done with it, and for a moment or so he even stared defiantly at the offending pocket, silently daring the device to chirp at him. When it didn't, he huffed and swung a leg over his bike and once again pedaled toward Cycling Road, intent on making some sort of progress before the sun set. It wasn't until he'd already crossed over two thirds of the bike-only bridge that he realized something - the upcoming town was Slateport, a place he had no intentions on visiting any time soon, and it was pretty much the opposite direction of where he was supposed to be going in the first place. "Figures," he muttered, skidding to a stop while uttering a few extra curse words. He'd been so distracted by other things that he'd more or less forgotten where Petalburg City was even located on a map.
The fact that he didn't even own a map happened to pop into his mind just then, but then he remembered his PokeNav and pulled it out of his pocket, still daring it to ring. He clicked it over to the map feature and studied it - it seemed heading west from Mauville to Verdanturf, and then through that godforsaken tunnel and to Rustburo would be the choice path, until he realized he'd once again have to traipse through the Petalburg Woods. Having had enough of that place and its creepy bugs was enough for Keegan to make an executive decision: he put away his bike, and released Alvero. It seemed they'd be flying again, after all. ===== Despite the fact that Miharu was indeed right - he was sweltering in his denim jacket, Leroy felt a cold chill shoot through him at the girl's question. In truth, he'd love to remove his jacket, but he hadn't anticipated the days to be this warm, and all he was wearing underneath was the shirt of his Team Rocket uniform. The pants just looked like normal black slacks, but the black shirt was far from subtle. "Heh, don't worry about me," the smooth-talking Rocket said, winking. "I'm just fine. The heat doesn't really bother me." He took a deep breath and glared up at the sun out of the corner of his eye before looking back to the green-haired girl. She didn't look like she was faring so well, and though it would be plausible to let her pass out due to heatstroke or something and then take all her Pokemon, well, there was just no fun in that. He looked around quickly, spotting the park's snack stand. "Hey, I bet that'd be refreshing," he said, pointing to a patron who was walking away with an ice cream cone. "We could get something there, if you want."
The girl didn't say anything; she just nodded and began to lead the way, squinting to try and make out what was listed on the billboard behind the cashier. As they walked toward the canteen, Miharu had the brilliant idea of putting her hair up in order to get it off her neck. It wasn't difficult to fish a pinkish-coloured scrunchy from the small pocket of her backpack and she quickly gathered up her hair and secured it in a tight ponytail at the back of her head. The relief from the heat was almost instant and she sighed happily. It was a little early for ice cream, at least to her, but the thought of one of a sweet, syrupy slushy was almost irresistible. "Those look good," she said finally, giving a voice to her thoughts and she pointed out the machine that was steadily stirring the icy mixture. Lee had no reason to argue, so he nodded and the two trainers headed forward and got into the relatively short line. ===== The audience was still in the midst of recovering from their shock of the Dusclops' appeal when the next contestant stepped out onto the stage. This young man didn't really look as though he belonged there - he wore a fringed vest over a plaid button-up shirt. A large belt buckle was displayed at his middle, and he wore dirty-looking bluejeans and dusty leather cowboy boots. His shaggy blonde hair was pulled back in a lazy ponytail and he wore an equally rough-looking cowboy hat which he tipped to the crowd upon making his entrance. "Howdy, y'all," he said, grinning broadly as he released his Pokemon, and surprisingly enough, it wasn't a Ponyta, or Tauros, as most people would have been expecting.
Instead, a large, red washing machine sat squarely in the center of the floor, dimly lit by a faint, blue aura. The young cowboy didn't seem to care that his Pokemon's entrance hadn't been enhanced by the use of those newfangled seals, but instead continued to grin. "A'write, Maytag, you know what to do, lil' buddy!" The washing machine came to life just then, highlighted by a large pair of glowing eyes. The blue aura around it brightened, and the door on the front of its body popped open and slammed shut again. Rain began to fall from seemingly nowhere, controlled so it only affected the stage. The Wash-Form Rotom gave a toothy grin once its Rain Dance was complete before it cried out, unleashing a torrent of water as it began to spin in place. The water soaked the floor around it, leaving a small, loop-like puddle. The cowboy gave a nod, and Rotom began to spark with electricity before it shot off a Thunderbolt, electrifying the puddle and illuminating the otherwise darkened arena. "Now, Dark Pulse," the cowboy commanded, his voice thick with his southern drawl. The haunted appliance let out a mournful cry before unleashing a pulsating ring of dark power. It intercepted the electrified water and it seemed to explode from all directions at once, causing a mixture of water droplets and sparkles to rain down in all directions. Last but not least, Rotom unleashed a haunting Ominous Wind. The ghostly washing machine seemed to disappear, the technique masking the fact that the cowboy had recalled his Pokemon, and was now giving a bow that his turn was ended.

Karrigan couldn't hide the overwhelming feeling of relief she felt when she saw the Victreebel recalled into its Pokeball, and she idly wondered if she could stage a comeback. Now she and Erika were both down by only one Pokemon, and she still had an advantage. It was admittedly a little intimidating, waiting to see what Pokemon would be sent out next, though Karrigan was a bit surprised to see an Ivysaur. She withdrew her PokeDex and quickly read up on the evolved form of the famous Kanto starter Pokemon, Bulbasaur. Okay, well, we should be able to handle this. Could be worse, as we could be facing a fully-evolved Venusaur. The redhead closed the device and put it away, looking up as Erika called for a Sweet Scent. The enticing aroma filled the entire arena, and even Karrigan felt drawn in by it. It made her feel relaxed, and content, and for a moment she contemplated closing her eyes and just enjoying the scent before she remembered she was in a battle, and she snapped to attention. They use that move to throw us off-guard, the Snowpoint native thought, frowning. And it's working on Ikouma...
Karrigan furrowed her brow, a bit unnerved by the fact that her normally stoic and serious Sneasel had lost his offensive stance, and instead was steadily creeping closer to the Ivysaur, his eyes closed, and nose pointed upward as he enjoyed the aroma. "Ikouma, snap out of it," Karrigan shouted. "It's a trick; fight back with your Screech!" Hearing his trainer's voice made the Sneasel stop in his tracks and blink, but by that time, he was only a few feet from Erika's Ivysaur. Seeing the flaw in being this close to the Seed Pokemon, he quickly hoped back, taking in a deep breath before he opened his mouth and unleashed an eardrum-shattering Screech. There, that ought to shake things up a bit!
=-=-=-=-= At least you can't deny that Bibarel has... tenacity, Jake thought, giving a bit of a lopsided grin as he watched his Pokemon land a successful tackle on the Psyduck. He looked across the field to see how Jade had reacted, but her expression didn't elude to much, and Jake bit his lower lip, scuffing the wet ground with his wooden sandal. Can never tell what that girl is thinking, he thought, but considered that to be a good thing, and he watched Bibarel as she remained on all fours, crouched in an offensive stance and looking quite eager to continue. She herself was a tad annoyed that the yellow ducky Pokemon hadn't fallen down after she'd smacked him, but that just meant she'd get to try again. "Barrrell," she growled, slapping the wet ground with her tail.
Jake raised an eyebrow as Aquarius then proceeded to soak the battlefield with water, and he looked up at the dark-haired girl as she spoke. Wait, was she taunting them? Jake furrowed his brown, and glanced down at Bibarel. Bibarel looked back at her trainer, and he smirked. "All right, then," he said, shrugging. "Bibarel, why don't we show them your Headbutt attack?" That was certainly fine with Bibarel, as the thought of smashing her forehead into the rubbery duck sounded grand! She pushed off the ground with her tail, finding herself off to a bit of a slippery start. She managed to gather control, however, and she quickly picked up speed, waiting until she was quite close to her opponent before lowering her head in preparation to strike.
=-=-=-=-= Erika had to admit that she too had difficulty not succumbing to the effects of Ivysaur's Sweet Scent, but the Grass-type trainer was usually at her best when she was calm and collected. That's it, come in nice and close so that Ivysaur can say hello, she thought, still wearing a bit of a small smile as she watched the dreamy Sneasel wander closer and closer. It was a tad disappointing when Karrigan snapped out of the daze, and quickly managed to snap her Pokemon out of it as well, and all at once Erika found her calmness shattered as the Sneasel had opened its mouth and started screeching at the top of its voice. Ivysaur didn't like the sound either and he lashed his head back and forth, trying to rid his ears of the noise.
Ugh, that noise, Erika thought, covering her ears with her palms, though it did little to block the sound. But at least they're nice and close now... Erika's eyes opened and she pointed at the screeching Sneasel. "Quick, Ivysaur! Knock it out with your Sleep Powder!" Ivysaur shook his head one last time, glaring harshly at Ikouma. That noise was certainly uncalled for! The Seed Pokemon took a step forward and thrust his bud forward, sending out a cloud of glittering blue spores. If anything, stopping that godawful noise was more important than putting Ikouma to sleep.

Slight pains seemed to make her hands tingle just then, and Kasiya looked down at her hand, dropping Twilight's Pokeball into her lap. Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about that, she thought, frowning at the reddish/pink blotches on her hand from where she'd burned them on the hot door. Holding both her PokeNav and the Pokeball so tightly had caused them to ache, and she frowned again, this time at her own stupidity. She shouldn't have just tried to yank them open. Mike never did anything the easy way, after all. Hearing the sound of Ryka's giggling, however, caused her to giggle to, both because laughter is contagious, and because the mental image she had of a chibi versions of Mai and Giovanni running around in a frantic circle as a plane dropped down out of nowhere and turned them into tiny chibi pancakes was utterly hilarious. Regardless, it was good that they'd stopped crying, as the gods knew Kasiya had done more than enough of that in recent times. She stretched and shifted before standing up, causing Twilight to hop down. The Pokeball clattered down as well, falling beneath the bleachers, but the Umbreon seemed happy to head down and retrieve it.
The battle she'd started watching had ended already, and now she wandered across the vacant arena, kicking at the ground with her boots. Ryka had brought up an interesting point - nowhere on the news had it ever said that Jaeshan was actually... well... gone (she couldn't bring herself to even think the word); just that he was missing. The cynical part of her mind (that had probably spent too much time paying attention to Keegan's cynicism) kindly reminded her that when the reporters used the term 'missing' it generally meant that they had yet to turn up a body, and Kasiya suddenly felt sick to her stomach that she would allow herself to think in such a way. This was Jaeshan they were talking about, after all. He wouldn't just give up and let himself drown at sea! She knew that he could swim, and of course, he had Pokemon too, but her brow crinkled when she realized she could recall no Water-types on his roster. Regardless, there was still a smidgen of hope left, and she was not the type of person to stomp all over hope. She lived hope. She ate, slept, and breathed hope.
"You could be right," Kasiya said, both terrified and excited by the thought that Jaeshan could simply be lost somewhere (marooned on a deserted island, perhaps, or maybe even kidnapped by pirates, or maybe he even became a pirate!). Ryka was right; there was a good chance that he'd survived and was currently displaced (Kasiya had decided to banish 'missing' along with the word 'dead'), and before she knew it, she'd headed back into the Pokemon Center. "I'm uh, in Fortree City," she said, nodding though Ryka couldn't see it. "Hoenn, that is. But you're right, we should start searching for leads or something. What kind of friends would we be if we didn't start searching for him? He needs us!"
=-=-=-=-= Mai had given the other Admin a curious glance as he held the door open for her, but he didn't say anything, simply averted his own eyes and quietly shut the door behind her, leaving her alone in the room with Giovanni. She looked around quickly, pleased to see that the room had been furnished and decorated quite nicely - and timely, too - and she gave a quick nod as the Rocket boss motioned for her to sit down and she did, crossing one leg over the other. Her icy blue eyes flickered to the glasses, and she said nothing as a strong-smelling whiskey was poured. She uttered a quiet thanks, eying the liquid. It was a bit too early for her, but she took the glass and sipped anyway, only after Giovanni did. She didn't want to be rude, after all.
She nodded, well aware of the Hoenn team's progress - or lack thereof - in recovering the third relic. They hadn't much in the way of reliable leads in uncovering its whereabouts, so the Silver Squadron was more or less searching Hoenn inch by inch; delving into its histories and legends in hopes of finding so much as a breadcrumb trail. She assumed they'd found nothing of importance, as she'd heard nothing from Leo since the team's deployment. She could see Mount Coronet in the distance from where she sat in the office, and she listened carefully to her boss' words. The power of space and time? Willpower, emotion, and knowledge? How were these things connected? Her mind raced with possibilities, but nothing plausible stayed with her. She snapped back to attention when Giovanni spoke.
What would it like to be a God? In all honesty, it wasn't something she'd ever truly pondered; nothing more than childish fantasies and dreams. She took another sip of her whiskey, swishing it around in the glass as she watched the ice cubes clink together. "In all honestly, sir?" she said, considering standing so that she could join him at the window, but she didn't. "I have not." She carefully studied what she could see of his reflection in the window, but as always, it was practically impossible to decipher. She set down her glass again, now feeling somewhat uncomfortable. "I do believe I have found a small lead in Eterna City," she added. "The ruins there hold the remains of two statues and make mention of time and space, but there is far too much damage to decipher any more than that."
=-=-=-=-= The next contestant to arrive onstage after the strange cowboy and his haunted washing machine was pretty much just the opposite - she definitely looked like she belonged there, what with her multicoloured hair and long, fake nails. She was wearing an awful lot of leather, most complete with studs and spikes and she wore way too much makeup to try and accent her more masculine features. Regardless, she took the stage like a star and quickly sent out her Pokemon. It was a large, green mess of vines that appeared in a barrage of sparkles and wisps of flame, and the ground seemed to shake whenever it took a step. Biker Barbie and her shiny Tangrowth were ready to dazzle the audience! The crowd seemed to like her, or at least the Tangrowth and both waved, enjoying the attention. After that though, Barbie seemed eager to get down to business, and Tangrowth took center stage, ready for action.
On Barbie's command, both of its long arms shot up and out, coming to abrupt stops and each immediately releasing a burst of powder. On the left was a shimmering, violet Posionpowder while on the right was a lovely royal blue Sleep Powder. Just when it seemed like that was all she wrote, Tangrowth began to shimmer with a green hue, and suddenly a whirlwind of leaves began to swirl around it, grabbing both the purple and blue bursts of powder. The Leaf Tornado kicked up in power, with the two different powder attacks creating a dazzling, sparkling display of both power and control. Tangrowth then released a burst of Stun Spore into the vortex, adding a bright shimmer of gold to go along with the purples and blues. The Leaf Storm then started to lose power, and Tangrowth summoned a bright ray of sun shine - a rather clever use of Sunny Day - to shine down on it as though it were in a spot light. And then, just like that, Tangrowth snapped several of its vines at once, and the sunlight and glittering vortex all winked out at the same time, leaving nothing but darkness. By the time the house lights came on again, Biker Barbie and her Tangrowth had made a mysterious retreat!
((And here's my lame random NPC person for the contest! =D))

Tense? Crenu wasn't being tense was he? He was just...being through. He may have pushed Ariados a little harder this time around but it was for her own good. If she didn't get stronger than she was right now she wasn't going to be able to protect herself or anyone else when he was...whatever he wasn't tense. Just focused. Besides his training was always a little on the harsh side, she just hadn't seen him training his pokemon lately that's all. She must have forgotten, before today they had been training separately for the contest and she was with that red headed moron not long before that. In fact, he wasn't sure she'd ever seen him train before...or at least he didn't think so. What had happened before then? Even though Riza had decided to drop the subject he was almost unaware of the conversation at hand anymore as he was inside his own head, his body essentially on auto pilot as they grabbed their pokemon and headed to get some breakfast.
Grabbing bowls of food for his own pokemon, forgetting to get food for himself as his mind wandered he set them down, letting his pokemon out to eat. Fearow immediately grabbed his bowl in his powerful beak and took to a high spot where he could start devouring it quickly, glaring at the lesser pokemon around only to notice the other Fearow in the room. Looking at Plua's non golden feathers he cawed loudly to her, spreading his wings in a show of dominance. Ariados pulled her bowl to a corner and slowly picked at it, depressed and disappointed she couldn't please her trainer she didn't have much of an appetite right now. Froslass sank a little intimidated by Fearow's loud caws and display worried something might happen, but Swinub nudged her with his snout and assured her not to worry, and they both began eating together. Pupitar didn't seem to notice any of this or didn't care, and simply ate his food not concerned with the blow hard bird cawing like an idiot or with any or Riza's pokemon having decided none of them were worth further observation.
Crenu was sitting down across from Riza with no food of his own, not paying attention to the pokemon and was instead deep in his mind trying to jumble a few memories around to bring up their exact timeline together but was having some trouble. At first he didn't notice the warm sensation trickling from his nose, noticing only when a crimson drop landed on his arms which were crossed in front of him as usual when he was deep in thought. He snapped out of his head and quickly wiped it away, hoping Riza hadn't seen it. "Yeah, nice out." he responded, inhaling as discretely as he could to try and keep further blood from dripping out, but to no avail and was forced to grab a napkin and held it to his nose. "Fearow cut the nonsense and finish your food." He snapped suddenly with lightly muddled words, the bird quieting down almost instantly, pecking viciously at his food again all the while he continued to glare at Plua. "Just a nose bleed." He said quickly to the raven haired woman before she could ask. "The air must be a little dry today. Nothing to worry about." He looked at her calmly, he wasn't sure even he believed himself, though he desperately wanted to.

The nice thing about small towns like Azalea was that it never really took very long to get pretty much anywhere. The fact that the Pokemon Center was located relatively close to the edge of town helped as well, and it wasn't long before Jasper found himself to be retracing the steps he'd only just taken with Jett and Scarlet not half an hour earlier. He looked up at the sky as he neared the path that would take him to the well, figuring he had at least some daylight left, as he wasn't sure how bright it would be down there. Perhaps it wasn't his brightest plan ever, heading down into a dark, dank well full of dopey Pokemon (and probably) more annoying Zubat, but he had no intentions of changing his mind, at least not right now. He walked up the path and stopped once he reached the actual well itself. There was a weathered sign planted nearby, but it didn't have anything to offer other than the name of the place and a rather poor drawing of a Slowpoke.
"Alrighty, then," the boy muttered, deciding to take the metaphorical plunge and he headed down the ladder, which was in good condition. It didn't surprise Jasper, however, as he recalled hearing something about the people of Azalea Town worshiping Slowpoke or something. It would make sense if the town had a cut of their budget dedicated to the upkeep of the well that served as a home to the dull, pink water types. Jasper then found himself rethinking his idea of using Slowpokes as punching bags for his Pokemon - perhaps the townsfolk would not approve? He quickly passed the notion off as ridiculous, however, as he reached the bottom of the ladder, and he jumped down, surveying the area. Admittedly, it wasn't anything like he would have expected a well to be like. First of all, it didn't lead down directly into water, but he could both hear and smell the water near by. Secondly, there was an awful lot of open space, and the ceiling was quite high. Jasper gave a low whistle as he looked around. 'They should consider renaming this place,' he thought idly. * * * * * * * * * * The trio reached the Pokemon Center without further incident, with both Lucy and Connor quickly running ahead to get their Pokemon seen to. Hayley hung back a bit, still working quietly on her sketches and marveling over the fact that she'd met so many interesting Pokemon already. With the sketches of the Bulbasaur and Squirtle completed enough that she could fully finish them without her subjects present, she'd started to sketch out one of the Beedrill, attempting to recall as much detail as she could from memory. The brunette was vaguely aware of the presence of others inside the center, and she glanced up to see a black-haired boy at the desk, and just behind him her two new acquaintances. Lucy looked over her shoulder at Hayley and waved, and Hayley smiled and waved back. It was then that she noticed the flicker of orange from the corner, and she glanced over, now spotting the rather sad-looking Charmander. He seemed to be accompanied by a young girl with blonde hair, and some other Pokemon: it took Hayley several moments to realize she was looking at a Larvitar.
The squeal that came from the young Pokemon Watcher was loud enough to turn most heads, but the fact that the brunette moved across the lobby faster than a Jolteon hopped up on Agility was far more impressive than that. In an instant she'd placed herself next to the Rock Skin Pokemon, having already flipped to a new page in her sketchbook (she was starting to run out of pages already!) to sketch out a quick outline of the little rock type. "Oh my, oh my, I can't believe it! One would never expect to see a Larvitar here!" Hayley gushed, tossing her book aside as she withdrew a small measuring tape and stretched it out, turning it at various angles and sputtering out almost incoherent numbers as she did so. "She's a good size," she commented, jotting down the measurements she'd taken before beaming happily at the Larvitar and the Larvitar's trainer. "Tell me, what kinds of food are you feeding her? Her colouring makes me wonder if she's getting enough iron." The Bennett girl had once again taken up her drawing book, having not noticed that in the commotion, her Rattata had decided to exit out of her Pokeball. Mya the Mouse Pokemon blinked and looked around in confusion: her trainer was flipping out over a new Pokemon again? The mouse plopped down beside Hayley and squeaked out a quick apology to the Larvitar; you know how humans could be when they got excited about things.

True to form Robin and Luffy did get distracted. Thanks to a clever, if teasing gym leader though they were distracted by the right thing. Luffy gave out a surprised cry as the berry hit him on the top of his head. "Luffy? What's wrong?" Robin asked looking back at her pokemon. The Ambipom just blinked up at her and shrugged before looking back at what hit him.
A pecha berry! A big juicy one to! The Ambipom snatched it up with one of his tails and shoved it all into his mouth, seed and all. This team would fall for any food trap that was put in front of them.
"Hey... what if I wanted a piece." Robin was pretty hungry to, sure she had just eaten but that had been one good looking Pecha berry.
Luffy just looked up at her and grinned before doing his impression of Bullet Seed. He was actually pretty good at it, considering he wasn't a grass type and didn't learn any sort of seed moves like that. Well, if his trainer wanted some there was probably some nearby. Fruit didn't just fall out of the sky like that, as much as Luffy wished it did. Maybe it did in this forest gym? The Ambipom looked up, unfortunately looking up in the opposite direction the gym leader was in. Not seeing any more flying fruit Luffy pouted slightly before looking back over to Robin.
"Hmm, maybe there is a fruit tree around here somewhere?" Robin muttered, she wasn't much smarter then Luffy when it came to this.

All the contestants waited in the back as the other's finished up. When the last one came back into the room tense silence filled the room as they all waited to see if they would be moving on as the judges tallied the scores. None of them could see what was going on up front. For those who were in the know they were see that the arena was being changed for the next match, for those not in the know, well that would just be a surprise. All they could do in the back was wait for someone to come back and tell them who was battling who. If your name wasn't called well, then you were s**t out of luck.
When one of the staff did manage to make his way into the back you could probably cut the tension with a knife. It was a miracle that a fight hadn't broken out back there. "Right, so the semi-finals are up. You and you, your up."
The worker looked bored as he pointed over at Dante and what Dante could only assume was some sort of... hick cowboy? Well, he had battled worse, he still shuddered to think of those cosplayers he had battled with Keegan. Pushing himself off of the wall Dante felt a wave of relief hit him. He had passed the hard round. Now all he had to do was battle to win, he could do that. Of course he had to do that in a flashy kind of way. He wasn't sure he could do that. Barely casting another glance at his opponent he followed the attendant back out to the arena. What he saw almost made him turn around and walk back inside. He did not want to deal with this.
The arena had been changed up, he vaguely remembered them saying something about that. What it had been changed into was something else entirely. It seemed like they had replaced all the floors with trampolines? There were twenty trampolines that made up the floor and some that were actually at an angle around the edges to keep them in. Kenny was not a bouncing type pokemon and they were going to have to work this into the fight to? Taking his side of the battlefield he cast a look over at the other trainer, he had no idea what this guy was going to use either.
Well, here went nothing. Dante gripped Kenny's pokeball tightly for a moment as they were called to release there pokemon. Once both were out the contest would start. Hoping for some miracle he tossed his Dusclops pokeball out into the bouncy arena.

'Dragon Twister....what is it missing?' Riza thought, gently stirring the granola into her yogurt as she watched her newest team member eating his breakfast. It was definitely difficult to focus on her own thoughts thanks to the two very noisily cawing Fearow in the room. Riza glanced over at the golden coloured bird, wondering just what Plua thought of him. She didn't seem to be all that impressed by the other Fearow's golden feathers judging by the way she shrieked right back at him. In truth, Plua probably would have thought Fearow was an impressive specimen if not for his incredible arrogance, and the irritated squawks she was blasting at him were definitely letting him know it. Akima was eying Fearow as well, very much ready to shut him up for good with an icy punch to his big annoying beak, but the Fearow's trainer quickly decided he'd had enough of the cawing as well.
"Yeah, that goes for you too, Plua," Riza growled, shooting a glare at her own Fearow, only then noticing that Shiro had grabbed a napkin and was now holding it up against his face with telltale signs of red already beginning to seep through. She opened her mouth to say something, but Shiro quickly cut her off, trying to act like a nosebleed was no big deal. Riza glanced around and breathed in, the air didn't seem dry to her. "All right, if you say so," she said, shrugging. When she was younger, sometimes she got nosebleeds too, but her pediatrician had said they weren't anything serious.
She enjoyed a few bites of her yogurt and thought of her upcoming gym challenge. She didn't feel as nervous as she did when she fought Surge, but she figured after facing a man like that, the rest of the gym leaders wouldn't seem so imposing. Judging by the gym's outdoor decor it would be a water or ice-type gym, which shouldn't be a problem. She had almost finished her breakfast by the time she realized Shiro wasn't eating. "Aren't you going to eat?" she asked, genuinely concerned. "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day." * * * * * In all honesty, Gardenia hadn't expected for the girl and her Ambipom to have not noticed her up there in the tree. First of all, she wasn't exactly hidden, and secondly, she hadn't stopped giggling since she'd thrown the Pecha Berry at the Ambipom, who's name was apparently Luffy. Both trainer and Pokemon were looking in the exact opposite direction of the gym leader, and she stopped laughing and instead watched them curiously. It was hard to tell if they were still looking for her or if they were now more concerned with the thought of flying berries. Regardless, Gardenia was practically itching for a battle, and these two looked like they'd be a lot of fun!
She stood up and jumped to a nearby branch of another tree, and then moved to another, and another until she was able to jump down directly in front of the red haired girl and the Ambipom. "Hello there," the gym leader said brightly, smiling at the two. "Just who or what might you two be looking for?"

Meanwhile, inside the examination room Kressen was laying down on the exam table. Nurse Joy saw him move a bit and motioned for Chansey to come over. "You know what to do." The pink mass of the bubbly helpful pokemon jiggled as it hurried over with a grin on its adorable face. It reached its' two pink hands towards Kressen's face as if to gently prod him awake.
Instead, Chansey used wake up slap on the injured boy causing him to jump up. "GAH! Chansey you know I hate it when you do that." He rubbed his read cheeks, then his sore head. "Owww." He felt the bandages wrapped around his head. "Man how long was I out this time."
Nurse Joy just sighed as she got Kressen some painkillers. "A few minutes. You don't have a concussion, just a big bump. You honestly hurt the wall more than your head. She gave him a glass of water and the pills. "So what happened this time?" Kressen grinned as he took the pills and water. "It's a bit of a tale."
As Kressen began his tale, Gigas would be sitting there beside Alex impatiently waiting for his trainer. Having Alex there was a some help, but she wasn't his trainer. He wanted his trainer and he wanted him now! He was just about to start off when some strange girl who had just entered the center let out an ear splitting squeal, then ran over to Alex,Roll, and Gigas.
She started babbling excitedly to Alex about Roll, not that Gigas understood a word of it. The combination of the near death experience, Kressen getting hurt, and now having some stranger run up to his area pushed the young fire lizard to his limit. He stamped his little foot down and took a deep breath into his lungs. The flame on his tail got a little bigger as he inhaled. When he had inhaled as much air as his little lungs could contain he let out an earth shattering roar.
...Well he would have if he wasn't a two foot tall fire breathing lizard. Instead a shrill cry would echo throughout the center as the distraught Charmander lost its' cool.

Slowpoke Well was cool, and damp, and thanks to the large opening at the top, fairly well lit. Jasper took a few steps forward, listening intently for sounds of life within the cavern. Surprisingly, he didn't hear anything save for the steady dripping of water in the distance, and he wandered forward a bit more, able to see much better once his eyes had adjusted to the dim light. "Well, this is... quaint," he muttered, scratching the back of his head. He found the edge of the water, which was essentially more of an underground lake than an actual well. Pokemon or not, it was rather quiet down here, and that was something he was grateful for. Not that he had anything against Jett or Scarlet; the two certainly had quite a bit of energy between them. It was nice to be by himself for a while. He withdrew the three Pokeballs from his bag and studied each of them respectively. The first, of course, held the enigmatic Ditto, but Jasper really didn't think the talented transformer needed any special training. Perhaps practicing various moves while in the forms of other Pokemon, but nothing specific. Then there was the bashful and painfully-shy Paras, whom Jasper knew had his work cut out for him. Other than working on bravery issues, he was sure the Mushroom Pokemon's varying spore attacks were quite strong. Lastly, there was his newest addition, the feisty little Totodile. The only times he'd seen her battle was when she'd taken down that Sentret before, but that wasn't really much of a match.
'Well, it's decided,' Jasper thought, putting away one of the Pokeballs. 'If anything, these two should get to know each other better.' He released Paras and Totodile at the same time, quickly taking note of their reactions. Totodile seemed relatively indifferent while Paras, though at first quite freaked out by the presence of the gator, quickly seemed to calm down, possibly due to the damp atmosphere. "There we go, we're all friends here," Jasper said calmly. "Totodile isn't going to hurt you, Paras," he added as the Mushroom Pokemon had already put some distance between himself and the water type. "We should probably do some training, but if you guys would rather just hang out, that works for me too."
In all honesty, Jasper didn't really feel like training. He didn't really feel like doing anything. His Pokemon didn't seem to object to their trainer's indifference and before long the three were sitting quietly, with Jasper on the ledge of the water, his feet dangling over. His shoes hung only about half a foot from the water, which Totodile had decided to test out. Swimming by herself was boring, however, so now she just sat in the shallows near her trainer's feet. Paras was investigating a few moss-covered rocks nearby before deciding it made for a nice snack. Jasper's gaze drifted back and forth between his Pokemon, glad he'd chosen to let Ditto continue to rest within its Pokeball. Ditto would have found this "hanging out" to be incredibly dull.
