Lacie tumbled over from Vaith's push, langing in a corner where she would be free of the mysterious figure's attention. Lacie smiled at Mai, seeming to enjoy the older ghost's maternal affections. She positively beamed up at her. But their reunion was to be short-lived, due to the entrance of the hunters and fog creatures.

Finally grasping their surroundings, "What's happening?" Lacie tilted her head. She instinctively moved closer to Mai and Night, wondering what they were doing in such a dark place. "N-night.." She stammered. She felt anxious, uneasy, feeling the remnants of fear scattering around her. She didn't participate in the conversation, simply because she would go along with the choice they made. She didn't want to be separated from them.

The fog creature persisted, Lacie wondering what she should do. It was attacking them.. yet Lacie didn't know if she felt any hostile intentions. It was easy to detect the anger and hatred that the hunters had against their kind.. but her gloved hand reached out to the fog creature. "I-Is it.. speaking to us? Lacie asked hesitantly, wondering if she had heard its words correctly. "Is this your home..?" This barren, sad, desolate place? Speaking of home.. Lacie's expression held remnants of sadness. Were they going to lose their home in Amityville as well?

AUGH NO WAY, Even Mai couldn't get the ghost thing away.

"Mai!" He whispered as it kept attacking the black cat before he peered down to Lacie. They needed to keep her away. Oh god, she was too adorable

Oh gods whatever made her so cute was coming up and he ended up flopping on her. "Don't listen to it! Its not a good thing Lacie!" He growled as the thing came closer to the two ghouls and batted at it again.

"Jack, Its worst then a stray cat!" And to Night, THAT WAS SAYING SOMETHING.....

Well, no matter what's the intention of the fog creature's initial attack, it seems not happy about being attacked..........

It keeps on creeping towards Night......and obviously does some minor damages.

Home.

It hisses with its attack....

Mai moved herself between Lacie and the phantom. "Be careful, kitten," she said quietly. She watched the creature warily from a distance. "These things haven't been very friendly so far."

The ghost kicked a rock at it when it got too close the two of them. More like a warning shot really.

Thank Jack for team members. Night and Mai drove off the ghost, a small partially shallow cut making his arm bleed. he had held up his arm in a defensive manner, barely managing to dodge the attack but it still hit.

He tried to manage his fear, a resistance pushing against his mind as he attempted to form a sort of bandage. His fear markings shifted uncomfortably, wrapping around the wound. He didn't want it to bleed more than it was already. loss of blood wasn't an ideal situation, especially if this situation got worse.

The creature seems to retreat a bit when fall over because of the rock. Noticed that it is Mai, it stops approaching Night but now turns to Mai.

It seems that it will target the one who attacks unconsciously.
It hisses Home. while creeping towards Mai who obviously doesn't like it.
It seems the only word you can understand from it, still intention of this creature is not known any.......

Mai bristled as the creature turned its attention toward her. Figures she would attract an attack after provoking it. Damn this whole mess, it was grating on her worse than the previous days. At least then she knew what was going on. Mostly. Now she was confused, and sleepy, and (just a little!) frightened. Even her hair was even beginning to float a bit in response to her agitation, as if she'd suddenly been submerged in water. Siiigh. The ghost strode forward, her expression set in a uncharacteristic frown and her heeled boots striking the ground with enough force to leave little dust clouds in her wake. She lunged at the creature, aiming at its head with one clenched fist. Mai needed some candlejacking stress relief.

Thankfully, that last blow seemed to have taken care of it. For now anyway. Were they even fighting different creatures? Or was the same one dogging them relentlessly?

Mai's attack seems very effective. The creature screams and retreats for a distance and started to vanish like the ash, bit-by-bit.

From human-like shape, the fogs accumulated began to dissipate to the surroundings. In just a while, you can hardly distinguish its shape, no longer head part, hand and leg. You can now only see its creepy glowing yellow eyes staring at you and a hand-like remaining.

The creature tries to reach Mai with its dissipating 'hand" which remains, however, it can't. It still hissing "Home......." as it's gone.
No more hands and the yellow "eyes" becomes dimmer and dimmer until nothing is left.........

Home.........
There's still the echo of the creature's last word encircling in the air.

Night paced himself to walk by the ghouls and Vaith as they headed through the forest. Fog crept in, and to most it would seem eerie. To the ghost cat, it was a small comfort in the midst of the confusing...anything that was going on.

His ears flicked though at the sound of something buzzing in the distant before shrugging it off, the woods were weird, nothing new to a student of Halloween. "I wonder where we are...Are these part of the trials?" He frowned as he looked at his team members before the buzzing got louder. It was followed by the sizzle of his flesh and the strange sensation of something numbing his body before he blacked out.

When he woke though, he woke in another strange place. His body recoiled from the electric shock as he stared at the halloweener creature staring at him. Hissing, he moved to back away at the new enemy and realized that he couldn't.

"Log out?" He peered at the man before looking around, "Where is Vaith? Mai? Lacie? AURIAN?" He yelled for his teammates and then looked as Arel came upon them, "Arel? Dead? I am dead stupid, I'm a ghost." He flicked his ear in annoyance. What the freaking Jack was the secretary talking about? Did everyone take some hard hit to the ground? "Why am I tied up!?!?" If there was one thing the black cat did not like, it was being restrained in anyway.

Mai was still worried about Aurian as the group had moved off together toward the Weeping Forest. Perhaps the reaper had gotten lost in the fog? Should they have waited? Mai fretted, but all she could do now was hope her friend had made it someplace safe. She wondered grimly if there were any safe places left to be found.

"I.. still have no idea what's going on here," the ghost muttered, not really expecting a response from anyone. The overall atmosphere of this place was just so oppressive. She felt like she could just lie down at any moment and sleep her way into oblivion. Really, if she were alone, she might have done just that. But she had her team to think about now. Mai tried to stay close to Lacie at all times, feeling oddly protective over the other ghoul, even taking her hand sometimes to lead her forward. And there were Vaith and Night, who she tried to keep within sight.

When they found the flag, Mai wasn't sure what to think. She stared blankly up at the familiar symbol through half-lidded eyes. "What do you make of it?" she asked, turning toward Vaith.

And then she heard a loud buzzing, a buzzing that built quickly into an alarming crescendo. Before she had time to make sense of it, a shock tore through her and ripped her right out of consciousness.

...

....

She came awake slowly, keeping her eyes shut as she got her bearings. Wherever she was, she was being restrained. She felt herself drooped limply against the binding ropes and chains that encircled her. Her thoughts muddled clumsily around in her head as she tried to piece things together. What had happened? Where was she? Where were the others?

It was the last thought that prompted her to open her eyes and look around. Almost immediately she was being fitted with a helmet by some grumpy looking undead. What had he said? Log out? She twisted against her restraints a tiny bit, testing.

When she saw Arel, she couldn't help but feel a sudden wash of relief. The secretary! He was familiar. Safe. Unfortunately her relief was tempered with confusion as she watched the secretary's reaction to them. He recognized them surely, but.. Wait.. Spies? Is that what they'd said?

"A-Arel?" Mai spoke, her voice low and cautious. "What's happening..?" The ghost looked around at her teammates for support. "Is this... is this part of the trials?" She was worried that she'd be breaking some unspoken rule in asking this question.. If they were even still competing... Something definitely felt wrong. Maybe Arel would know?

"I think it's---" The answer was left undone, as the entire group fell into oblivion. Vaith included, falling against the unconscious Lacie and Mai. He didn't know how long it was before sound started to light up the unconscious blackness. As Night shouted and Mai's sultry voice intercepted his dreams, his body instinctively tried to roll forward. But there was a painful constraint around his neck, the reaper leaning too far and jerking back with choking and gagging. He tried to lift his hand to rub at his throat, pull away the constraints, only to find his arms restrained as well.

"Jackdamnit Night, you gotta stop with the yelling. Haven't you heard, hostile situations, be calm and reasonable if you don't want to dissipate?" Vaith felt himself saying loudly and groggily as he stirred awake. Night's voice was like a whisper during a hangover. Even whispers were painful to his ears, his vision and mind clearing. He willed it to clear faster, knowing that they were probably stuck in some jackforsaken situation but his body refused to listen to his mind.

Yes, it was a forsaken situation.

"W-W-Waiiiit, you're going to torture us and kill us from the inside out?" That was one of the most powerful lines of the moment, their fates about to be sealed.

They weren't hunters. They were, distinctly and absolutely, halloweeners. And halloweeners were comrades. Yet, this sort of treatment wasn't exactly the vip-comrade-inspired one. All of them chained up.

"Waitwaitwaitwait, hold on!" Vaith was trying to be calm but a slightly panicked tone revealed his unsettled state. "Arel, you look great. Actually, wait no, you don't. You look like hell but don't pull this joke on us. Amytiville was right here and there were the death trials. Are you playing a really badly written role in these death trials? That Deus 1999 note left at school, it's just a prop or something right?"

Aurian had indeed been lost in the fog. Occasionally she heard voices and tried to move towards them, only to find they disappeared before she reached them. Not all of them were familiar, but Aurian would take even a stranger or an enemy at this point. She despaired of ever escaping the mist, let alone finding her team again.

A strange noise caught Aurian's attention. "Hello?" she cried, running as best she could with little vision. Unfortunately for her, it was not a person. As she neared the source of the noise, it came again, this time clearly the crackle and zap of an electric charge. "Oh Jackdam-" Aurian had enough time to say before darkness took her.

---

Aurian slowly came to. As she forced heavy eyelids open, she was grateful that they appeared to be somewhere dark. Her head still rang from whatever had knocked her out, the last thing she needed was bright lights on top of that.

"Log out..?" she repeated groggily. "Wassat mean?"

Wasn't that a term for some sorts of games? Or the scarephones, didn't you need to 'log' with a pin or something? (Aurian very unwisely left her unlocked all the time - it was just easier for her that way.)

Aurian shook her head at their captors - then winced, that had been a very bad idea. Around her headache, she managed to say, "Noooo, this is a Trial, not a Game. No logging."

Lacie followed Mai quite contentedly, her small hand gripping Mai's, finding the older ghost comforting. She didn't like this fog, only making out the slightest shapes of her teammates. She was grateful to Mai, without her, the little ghoul would surely have become lost in no time. When they found the strange flag, Lacie crouched to lightly finger the cloth. "Is this..?" She meant to turn around -- when the thud of her teammates bodies sounded from around her. "Eve--" Before Lacie could finish, she felt a shock from behind and staggered forward, eventually falling to the ground along with her teammates.

Lacie took the longest to come to, hearing everyone's voices amidst her groggy awakening. They must have been all right.. but when she tried to move her limbs, she found them bound. She couldn't even move. Not when the thick restraints hung down on her small body.

She didn't try to escape, already knowing that it would be futile. Instead, she took the time to listen and think about their captor's words. She didn't quite understand.. they had been at the trials last where Amityville had watched on. "We are not spies." Lacie managed to say. She wanted to ask more. But Arel's demeanor stopped her from asking. The hopelessness, the resignation, and suffering-- She had always felt fond of the secretary who helped them when no other staff was willing to. Instead, she said,

"And we are not dead Arel."
PostPosted: Wed Mar 21, 2012 4:40 pm

Arel frowned. "I don't mean dissipated dead, you know what I'm talking about." He turned towards the other undead for a second, "Do they know what I'm talking ab-"

BANG.

The entire cave shook furiously, several survivals scrambling left and right, shouting incoherently. There was a second bang and then a third-

- Everything exploded in dust and debris, a strange smell, the smell of the fog, wafting into the cave. It was impossible to see now, clouds of dirt and smoke flying everywhere, though through the haze, there was a distant noise, an electric ZAP-

- Screaming, more muffled shouts, someone yelling loudly "HUNTERS, SOUND THE ALARM", the noise of something, bells perhaps, clanging loudly, clearly-

- Suddenly cut off by a burst of light. There were more now, flecks of light, of colour in the room, glowing beyond the haze, the fog, the smoke, the dust clouds. And the yelling, sounds, of metal clashing against metal, of snarling, furious cries, of someone telling the others to "Evacuate now".

Mere minutes, everything was dead silent again. Silent, as the smoke and fog cleared, revealing an entirely empty cavern, revealing signs of anarchy and chaos littered on the ground, unmanned weapons and broken furniture. Revealing a figure walking towards the still restrained students, a figure wearing a long white coat emblazoned with gold. They knelt on the ground for a second, examining one of the damaged equipment on the ground with a small frown, their coat dangling on the ground a moment longer, the gold insignia on the back shaped like two scythes crossing each other.

"Sir, we've got the lead of the other escapers. Permission to pursue them?" Another of the attackers had appeared, saluting the first figure smartly. The figure nodded shortly, curtly, watching them leave before standing up, patting down his coat.

"Now," He began, his hair a shocking red even in the dim light, as he examined the trainees with a rather amused expression, "This is probably the most interesting thing I've seen all month. The refugees left you clearly here to die, but, and do correct me if I'm wrong of course," the figure pulled up a chair, casually sitting level with them, "I don't think you are from here at all."

"Sir!" A second voice, and then another person. For some students, perhaps in another lifetime, they might have even found the person familiar: a human dressed in a simpler design of the first's coat, cropped hair tied in a loose ponytail. "Once we are done here, they are requesting backup at the southeast portal entrance."

The red-head sighed. "Ben."

"Yes, sir?"

"Ben, seriously, call me Ben, its not hard." 'Ben' was putting a hand to his face, one of long suffering. "Caelius, I swear to god, one day you are going to call me Ben, and the world is going to e-"

"With all due respect sir, they are still waiting for your backup after this interrogation."

'Ben' sighed, leaning forwards on his chair again. Maybe if the students were on the same side, they would have been good friends, it was a pity really. "Okay, well apparently I have some more important things to do"- yes, there were airquotes -"But it was really interesting meeting you. Hope to see you back at base then, good talk all." He signaled for two others. "Keep an eye on them until I get back okay, don't move them quite yet, I still have questions, and I am seriously, seriously getting goosebumps just thinking of the others tampering in this before I have a chance at it."

Blank stares from the two other humans. Ben hung his head in defeat. "Just- just don't touch anything." He put a hand on Caelius's shoulder, which the other simply brushed off, the two of them disappearing back into the fog and smoke.

There was a moment of silence longer, and then the sound of a high-pitched whining noise: an electric charge.

"Dude," began the first of the two sentries in charge of 'watching' the students, "He said not to do anything, put that thing down?"

"Aw, come on," argued the other, "We've been stuck doing sentry duty all day. Wouldn't you think it would be funny just to prod them like, once?" He walked over to the students, a feral grin on his face, holding what looked like a glowing dagger. "Hi there little creatures, how about we play a little game to ease the boredom? You tell me everything you know, or I'll stick you, with my little ah, friend here."

OOC

- Your student is still trapped... OR ARE THEY?
-You notice that your ropes are actually starting to come loose, or maybe its just how awesome you are, whatever the case is, you feel it no longer restrains your Fear as much! Maybe the effect has worn off? Roll a 100-sided dice and match your dice roll to the result. If anyone is free, move to the ESCAPE phase. You can continue rolling until you are freed
- Your character CAN have a chance of dying during the ESCAPE phase. If they are dead, then please RP their death solo accordingly. Your team can still function without their "leader" alive.

1-30: You wriggle the ropes just slightly, but no luck.
31- 60: You feel several coils come loose, and you try to continue the conversation with your captors in order to distract them.
61-100: YOU ARE FREE. You quickly bolt as fast as you can, looking for the nearest exit, despite the shouts nearby. You must now move to the ESCAPE phase.

YOU ARE ESCAPING:
- Roll a 6-sided dice to try to escape. If you roll ODD, you feel a strange sensation, a ZAP - this is the last thing you see. YOUR STUDENT IS NOW DEAD (not even dissipated, gone forever)
- If you roll even you are FREE. You head outside but... are you alone? The fog is so thick around you, you can't see a thing (please wait here for further gm prompts, feel free to interact with anyone else who got freed or post rp reactions to those who didn't).

Night blinked as his teammates came to now and looked over. Mai, Vaith, Aurian, Lacie all spoke up and he sighed in relief.

"I'm not yelling Vaith." He whispered but then again....who knew what yelling was to the noise Reaper. He paused before adding, "Are you guys alright? Mai? Lacie? Aurian?" He head each of their voices and then....similar reactions to the presumptions of the students being dead. No...No they were not DEAD.

"Hey...Hey." Night blinked as the undead said something about killing them before loosening at his bonds.

Then s**t hit the fans and he heard key words. Hunters. And when everythign went down, Night's ears flickered at two things. Ben and...Caelius.

And then he started talking. You want to talk buddy? this cat will give you just what you need.

"You gotta be more specific when you interrogate human." Night began before grinning, he could feel the bonds loosening and his tail flicked to poke at Mai's and then Vaith's. Hopefully something would come of him talking so much. "Tell you what? Oh okay let me start. I WILL BE THE POLITE ONE." Night's ears flicked again as he paused and then..."My name's Nightengale XIII, I am a black cat ghost, don't know how old, don't know when I died. Lot of people say I am unlucky but I think that's unfair because you know what....WHITE CATS ARE JUST AS UNLUCKY. Okay? Its not like that black cats were just deemed by Lady luck to be the only unlucky cats. And you know what else? I am fine with being unlucky because Jack dammit man, you think its easy being LUCKY? Look at the situations we get ourselves into when a Unlucky cat is around. I get to meet some stupid hunters with a electrical prod ripe for poking me with." His hands moved more furiously, "And while were at it, didn't you head honcho say not to touch us? I wouldn't mess with that okay, Did I mention i am a UNLUCKY black cat? Because you know, touching me might result in UNFAVORABLE results...."
