Preference: fire, ice
Entry:It was a fool’s mission. Tiaris knew it from the beginning when he and his sibling made the dare. No one had ever successfully tracked the snow beast that lived in the snow capped mountains above the pack’s territory. All that had been found of those who’d tried was stuffs of fur. Tiaris shivered with more than just fear. Ice was pelting down upon his thick coat. It irritated him to no end when other assumed he preferred the same things as his sibling; though he didn’t want to come, Tiaris couldn’t let his sibling go alone.
“We need to find shelter.” He called above the scream of the storm. A muffled reply was swept away by the winds. Tiaris pushed up through the snow to get closer to his sibling. “This isn’t working, we need to find shelter until this storm passes.”
“It’s right over this ridge,” his sibling replied stubbornly.
“No its not. We’re lost and this storm is only going to get worse. If we don’t find shelter now it’ll be too late. The pack probably saw it long ago and left the area. I’m sure you’re as cold as I am.” His voice became extremely persuasive. He needed to get them under shelter. He was always pulling his sibling back from more dangerous antics. Level-headed the pack often called him. When his sibling stopped in the snow, so did he.
“Alright, Tiaris. I know how you dislike your paws getting cold.” A victory, however slight, was still a victory in his eyes. Tiaris smiled and now took the lead. He was good at finding resources. Not soon enough for his tastes though did he find the small cave. He stepped inside the shallow cave and shook snow from his coat. His sibling was right behind him. Moving out of the way he turned and looked back. Past his sibling, the snow was coming down hard. With nothing to do he allowed his sibling to curl up first before settling beside.
It was the silence that woke Tiaris. He blinked sleepily and saw tiny snowflakes drifting down. The snow lay deep across the ground, and Tiaris knew without a doubt the pack would have taken shelter further down the mountain. It was just him and his sibling. Waking was a matter of minutes, but the moment they tried to leave they got bogged down. He shook his head. Neither of them would be able to hunt alone.
He lifted a paw from the snow and glanced to his sibling. “Looks like we need to hunt together.” Tiaris knew that alone they’d fail, but together they just might have a chance to survive. Working as a team the two hunted down a meal; meager as it was they shared it equally. Resting by the remains he mused quietly to himself. They were well matched. Their coats might be similar, but they were different so that they compliment each other.
Tiaris grinned. He might love his sibling dearly, but in the end he just wanted to be himself.
