Taryn pulled off her backpack and let it drop. The lepus tumbled out and flung itself at the other's legs.
"Did you know that I also love you?!"
That aside, Taryn shook her head. "She might have made it. She's not here." What a pair of captains they were, huh? "...fire?"

She was still standing in the rain, still waiting for her friends to come. It was making her nervous, to the point her stomach was starting to hurt, and without even noticing it she'd already bitten down into her finger and drawn blood. The monster's eyes were watering even more now, to the point she was actually crying, and she dropped the flags she had in her hands onto the ground. A creature in her sack jumped out and looked at her, about to speak, but apparently thought the better for it at the monster's sad and silent tears.
Were they okay? Was everyone dead? Her wounds stung and the rain prevented them from really clotting properly, so even though the bites and scratches weren't oozing blood they still felt fresh and gross on her skin. Would it be smart of her to check the infirmary? Perhaps everyone was there?
No - no! Chuppi needed to stay at the check point! Taryn had told her to meet everyone there and, unless one of them came to get her, she was going to stay out in the wind and the rain.

"Did you know I love you more?" While Taryn's lepus took ahold of Mort's lupus's legs, the latter grabbed the former's arms in a bear hug - well, of a smaller size, but nonetheless.
Mortimer in the meanwhile nodded weakly, uncoiling slightly so that he could brush several tender spots with his fingers. "F-F-Fire c-cave . . ." The wounds were still fresh, but healing quickly. Eventually he managed, trembling, to sit up, albeit still a little hunched over. "Is a-all alone . . . Sh-Should g-g-go to her." He looked across to see Yin and Alex looking alright, though was it him or did the other zomboil have some blue tinge to him? "N-No luck with flags. You guys?"

"Heeeey." Alex replied to Taryn, blinking his pale gray eyes. He was glad to see her here, but at the same time wondered what ill happenstance might have befallen her to have her sent to the infirmary. The lepus guide was just sitting their, happily staring at Alex, still clutching the red flag the zombie had thought he had lost in the snow. "Is everyone else he--" He started, before a familiar sight greeted his eyes.
Oh jack, if only Alex could move to sit up, but his limbs were still quite frozen and stiff. He didn't want Yin to see him looking like this...especially when the weremantis looked absolutely fine (which was a good thing, but it just made Alex feel so much worse for failing). "I'm glad you're here." He said softly to Yin, as Taryn wandered off and while he struggled to move at least something. Slowly his fingers start to twitch, and he was able to close his hands into fists. Progress!
"Is that...Mort making that noise?" He asked, trying to distract Yin away from his own injuries, which really weren't even that bad, as he continued to attempt to wiggles his toes, bend his knees, his elbows...anything. He gave the weremantis a grateful look as he redirected the air flow of one of the heaters. "Pft. A single flag? That's hardly anything to be proud of. You must have gotten way more then that." He said, as he began rolling his feet at the ankles.
Suddenly, there was a lepus on his chest, one that he couldn't knock off. And it was repeating itself over and over again while staring Alex in the face.
"Did you know that some lepuses are broken?" Alex's lepus said, still standing on a chair to the side.
Alex was finally able to bend his knee's and elbows. Now he just needed to be able to sit up! "I got one." He answered Mort's question.

"I believe so." He was glad to see that Alexander was alright, but he had never really considered going over to check on the other zomboil. Mort could pull through just fine, and someone else could check on him. He was staying right here thank you very much.
Alexander looked pleased enough with the redirected heater that Yin decided to move around and redirect one more, and he was suddenly very glad that he was not in the zomboil's direct line of vision when he brought up the flag. So, a single flag was nothing to be proud of? Did that not make the fact that he had brought none with him that much worse? "No," he said slowly as he turned the blasting heat away from the zomboil, "I am afraid I did not. I managed to lose my way. I was perfectly fine but my lepus guide signaled that I should be taken back," he glowered at the thing.
"Did you know--" *twitch* The lepus hopped, landing back on Alexander's chest. "Did you know window blanket gator remote?" It sounded like it had managed to fix itself back to normal. Whatever that meant.

"We should," Taryn agreed, and then looked hopefully back to the other boils. They were busy being lovey-dovey. It seemed as if one flag was the grand total of all of their master plans, so she was damned ready to get back and try again. "No luck. My guide was no help, and I fell face-first into a stone spike."
It had been her first death, but Roch had imbued her with a practical view on the whole ordeal early on. It hurt, it happened, you moved on and tried to not do it again. If several dozen students could die every time Amityville thought about a field trip, she could take a header down a ditch and get back up for her team. She wished she could leave a note for Chuppi, in case the little one had simply managed to survive this long and was due for the infirmary otherwise, but there wasn't time and there wasn't supplies. It would be best to hope for her and to make her way back. It was where they had planned to meet, anyway. The ghoul stood and offered a hand down to Mort.
"We have to go back."
Her lepus guide looked suddenly offended.
"Did you know that you're wrong?"

The rain was getting cold and the wind wasn't helping. Chuppi clutched at the flags she'd dropped, the weird little rabbit creature having handed them back to her, and she knelt down to be more at level with it as she did everything in her power to stay warm.
"Didja know yer gonna freeze ta death out here?" It was the first time her guide had spoken and Chuppi stared at it, red eyes wide and worried. She hadn't thought about that, she had assumed that by now her friends would be here and they'd all go somewhere together. "Didja know they're not coming?" It was almost like the Lepus could read her thoughts and fears (actually Chuppi just had a really expressive face) and she buried her face into her arms.
Her legs were aching by now and her back was sore. The smell of blood was overwhelming, more so by the fact it was her own blood, and she glanced down at the number of bite marks on her legs. Being bitten was no different than being at home and being chewed on by her younger siblings, but the shift back from natural form had gone to show the little monster just how torn up she was. In natural form the bites look spread out - in this false form it looked like someone had taken a pick axe to everything below her knee and had gone at it.
"So they...really aren't coming? I am really the only one to have survived?" She hiccuped as a tear fell down her cheek, then another, and soon Chuppi was wailing against the sounds of the rain and the wind. Her Lepus guide had promptly been rendered unconscious.

Alex stopped his movements, stopped trying to sit up, as what Yin said fully sunk in. Yin hadn't captured any flags. Mort and Taryn....it didn't seem as though they had gotten any either. Did that mean..that Alex was the only one to capture a single flag? "Wha...what about Chuppi? Is she here?" He hadn't seen her yet, and he could hear Taryn and Mort talking, but not what was being said. The lepus on his chest was rather annoying, and made little to no sense whatsoever as it just seemed to cram several random words together in a sentence.
"Well..uh..that's not your fault, at least. It sounds like your guide just didn't do a very good job..er..guiding you." Seriously, what was with this little guy?
Alex could finally feel his body defrosting to the point where he could bend his torso, and with a sigh he pushed himself up so that he was sitting, the lepus forced off of his chest. "Well, I got buried in the snow, and blacked out from the cold. I almost fell through some ice as well, but somehow managed to scramble past that. Next time we'll both do better, okay?" He smiled up at the weremantis, something he rarely got to do but since Yin was standing and he was sitting down it was possible. He wished Yin would take his hand, wished that he could give him some reassurance that despite only being year ones, they could do this. They could kick this trials a**.
Instead, Alex finally pushed himself to his feet, a sodden and slightly blue tinged wreck. "I think we should get back out there."

"G-Go back. Yes." His head was still full of static. Taryn's death was almost enviable: at least she'd gone quickly, whereas Mort's had been protracted to the point of not even getting the dignity of just burning up in an instant. It hadn't quite hit him yet that he was missing his shirt, or rather it hadn't hit him yet that he was supposed to be embarrassed to be showing all that nasty flesh off. But then again, he knew Taryn didn't care, Alex had the same condition, and Yin, well . . . Yin didn't seem all that bothered, or else why would he be so comfortable next to Alex anyway?
And Chuppi - s**t, what was he sitting there for, crying like a scareling over some burns?
"One flag better n' none," he told Alex with a little nod, wincing as he took Taryn's offered hand and got on his feet - he could still remember the waves of heat shooting up through bare flesh; it seemed he'd at least reformed with his sneakers and socks again.
His lepus frowned back. "Did you know I don't care?"
Mort looked between them, twitched an eye, and did the first logical thing that hit his brain since waking: he swung his leg backwards and with a growl punted the damn green thing out the flap. "Last one to it i-is rotten Spoilers."
Jack, that had been satisfying. And thus Mort began his determined jog to reunite the team with their final member.
(( Dunno if Taryn's guide was still hugging him, but if so feel free to allow him to be punted as well! CHUPPI WE'RE COMING. ))

"Mademoiselle Temes? I do not know." He glanced around, looking for her. She was not in sight, and that was slightly disturbing, much more than injured teammates that were there with him. As for the lepus...well Yin could not bring himself to blame the small creature for all of his failure, though he would admit it had been rather useless.
If Alexander thought that telling Yin about his trial was in any way going to make things better he was sorely mistaken. Buried in the snow. Blacked out. Falling through ice. Despite the heat blasting around the pair a chill went up the mantodae's spine. Not cool at all.
"You are correct, we need to go access the rest of the team. We cannot stay here forever." And that was their Captain's orders. Mort certainly seemed to be headed that way as well. And well, with no one keeping an eye on their group in the infirmary, and the other zomboil already gone (and Miss Taryn would probably follow him) he reached over to slip his hand into Alexander's and give it a quickly squeeze before releasing it and moving toward the entrance of the infirmary. Yes, the zomboil was still in one piece.

Alex pursed his lips in thought. It was possible Chuppi had survived her course and was waiting out there for them, all alone in the wind and rain. That would be horrible for her, and Alexander didn't like the thought one little bit. There was also the chance that she hadn't quite finished her course yet, and could end up in the infirmary at any time.
But Mort and Taryn were ready to go, and Yin was too. They had to get back out there, they had to come up with a plan, and they needed to do another course.
And hopefully do a lot better this time.
When Yin slipped his hand into Alex's, he was almost surprised at just how much warmer the weremantis felt then usual. He returned the squeeze gently, his heart swelling in his chest that Yin had thought to provide him with that slight comfort before they made there way out of the tent.

OPEN RACE COURSE
Apparently it was time for a new obstacle course. Mademoiselle Temes was up ahead, and standing, so he felt okay with just going straight to a course. "I hope your course is not too dangerous," he told Alexander and set off toward the closest non-freezing course.
"Did you know flowery swimming tracing wolf faekats loser?"
What did that even mean? And how was it back with him? He had not picked it up...Well, he had to chose a mount so he took the wolf, fairly certain after it sensed that he was a fellow predator that he would be safe.
But just as soon as they set off the wolf, not being very nimble, tripped over a boulder and sent him flying.
"DID YOU KNOW? DID YOU KNOW? DID YOU KNOW?
And there were the boogeymen again, hauling him to an infirmary that he did not need to go to. Something about a minor scratch on his arm.

Rock Climbing
He followed along beside Yin, moving quite a bit more stiffly then usual. What had happened to all that wind and rain from before? It appeared that now they were stuck within a condensed fog, and it was so bloody warm and humid.
Groooossss.
"I'm sure I'll be fine." He grinned, already deciding that he was going to try the rock climbing course this time around. He knew he was good at climbing, and had even proven it to himself back home when he had climbed a tree to escape his cousins.
Death grip really did come in handy, sometimes.
And so, Alex found himself at the base of a cliff, looking up and ready to go. His lepus guide was...somehow back on his back.
"Did you know that he who climbs a cliff may die on the cliff?"
"Well...ya? Of course, it's always a risk?" Alex shrugged as he leaned forward, grabbed a hold of the rocks, and begun his ascent. The rocks were sharp, but it didn't bother Alex much. His death grip held him, even as his feet fought for purchase and scrambled along beneath him.
Oh look, a flag! He grabbed at it and handed it to the lepus guide for safe keeping. ((OOC: Day: 2 Student name: Alexander OBSTACLE NUMBER: 1 FLAGS OBTAINED: 1 WEATHER MECHANICS: Fog and humidity! Bonus mechanics are out BONUS MECHANICS: No bonus's today ))

Rock Climbing
Alex continued along, slowly and meticulously pulling himself up ever higher.
"Did you know that falling rocks can sometimes dislodge climbers and cause them to fall to their grisly death?" His lepus guide piped up, suddenly. Alexander, puzzled, took a glance upwards...
...Only to see rocks heading down the cliffside straight for him! He pressed himself tight against the cliff wall, holding on tight with one hand while blocking his head with the other. A few of the rocks bounced off of him to the ground below, but fortunately, none were big enough to dislodge him, as the Lepus had said might occur.
"Thanks for the warning" Alex muttered, starting his climb once more.
Oh look! Another flag! Feeling quite elated at the sight, Alex reached out and grabbed it, handing it back to the lepus guide as well.

Rock Climbing
Alex's confidence was on the rise, quite literally in this case as he continued to climb. Up and up he went, seemingly without any troubles at all.
"Did you know that the higher you climb, the further you have to fall?"
"Well, obviously." Alex hissed back at the lepus guide, hand rising and falling to land on something...rough?
He pulled himself up just a tiny bit more and.
Oh no. Oh no no no. What fresh jack bloodied hell was this??
Alexander had unwittingly stumbled upon the nesting ground of some crazy a** looking reptile bird type hybrid. And they looked pissed. He was quite suddenly being swooped at, pecked at, and squawked at from every direction. He tried to wave them away with one free hand, still gripping the cliff edge as tight as he could hold it. He could feel movement at his back, the lepus guide hiding back within his backpack, keeping his mouth shut for once as Alex struggled to regain control of the situation.
It just wasn't meant to be. The heat and humidity caused the sharp rocks beneath his fingertips to be quite slippery, or possibly his skin was thawing out quite rapidly and becoming squishy. Either way, he could feel his hold begginning to slide, He tried to grab ahold of the cliff with his other hand, but ther were just too many of the flying menaces attacking. It was either wave them off or risk losing an eye ball (not that anyone would notice, the way his hair was always covering his eyes anyways).
And so, as Alex's fingers slid away from the rocky ledge, he began to tumble down the cliffside, and he had time to think of his last words to Yin before he'd gone of on this horrible rocky climb
"I'm sure I'll be fine."
Well, at least he hadn't promised?
It would take the boogeymen some time to find all of the pieces of Alex's suddenly shattered skeletal leg before they carted his battered and extremely broken body back to the infirmary.
