xxxxxxxM A V R O S As Seth closed his locker, he heard someone shout his name, and turned. Two guys strode up the hallway towards him; Donald, renowned party animal and playboy, and Astrayl, the all-around good guy. Donald was a year younger than both Seth and Astrayl, but he tended to hang around with the older crowd, and nobody ever said no to him, so he just stayed.
Seth stuffed his hands in his pockets and waited for the two to catch up with him, the emotionless mask ever present on his face. When they arrived, Donald gave him a grin and said, "What's the big, bad goth doing today?!"
Seth almost sighed. He believed he pulled Donald aside more than once and clarified with him that he was not a goth. He just didn't have any clothing lighter than black. Or navy blue. Before he could answer though, Ledell, the self-proclaimed ruler of the school, stepped in. Seth only gave her a glance before staring blankly past all of them. He didn't do the whole eye-contact thing very well. He listened as the three conversed. Ledell pulled up the matter of her missing boyfriend. She looked around, concerned that she had not seen him yet.
"He's fine," Seth said simply. It intrigued him at times how she was so dependent on her boyfriend. She followed him around everywhere.
Just then, a group of seniors walked up to the four. Boys who thought they were the 'big bads' of the school. The head boy shouldered Astrayl roughly and began to bully him. Seth only raised his eyebrows in amusement as he literally saw Astrayl snap and rip the boy's earring out from his ear. Seth stepped forward, gripping Astrayl's arm - the one that held the earring and a few parts of ear. When he spoke, it seemed to echo in people's ears, even though his voice was not at all loud. "Not now," he murmured. He tossed his head in the direction of the underclassmen, who were standing a few ways away, murmuring uncertainly to eachother.

All our best heroes are losers. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬If Riley were to say that she didn't see the younger boy's look, then that would be a lie. Stranger though, that same wink sent two different emotions like lightning down her spine. Those two emotions though being utter distaste and slight flattery. The sophomore took this moment of exchanging glances to look quickly in the other direction of him, mostly through her peripheral vision, trying to concealing this sudden collision of two, but completely polar opposite emotions. A light clearing of her throat was an indication of the struggle she was going through mentally, trying to keep her reserve during this exact moment. But as the elderly woman returned with the two documents that she had been seeking, Riley's attention quickly snapped to the front as she took a half-step closer to the counter, extending her hand in order to retrieve the schedule and locker number that she needed.
Once she pressed her fingertips against the papers once more, mainly for reassurance, the green-haired individual neatly folded them in half with her fingers before she lowered her head, emerald eyes scanning the schedule first before she switched the pages in order, looking over her locker number once before quickly remembering the number. With a light breath, she then slid the two pages into her back pocket, lifting her head once more to her correct eye level. Her eyes flicked over to Cole once more, her expression now readable to a slight approval, including a hinted smile, before she exited the main offiice in search of her locker, her hands in her pockets as she walked at a casual pace.

C O L E xxxxxxp i l f e r The girl didn't say anything, so Cole didn't say anything, so the two just stood silently at the counter, while the office lady trudged over to a computer, then a printer, then some random room out of sight. The girl turned her head, so Cole wouldn't see her face, and he grinned. Embarrassed? Angry? Flattered? Cole had gotten all sorts of reactions before.
The office lady finally returned and handed the girl her papers. She took them, scanned them quickly, then folded them in half. She turned to go, and as she stepped out the door, Cole caught the hint of a smile on her face. Aha! A good sign, if anything. Cole looked over to the counter. The lady seemed to move so slowly. Cole started drumming on the counter, and tapping his foot against the ground. C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon. he thought. As soon as he received his papers, he turned sharply and flew out the door.
The girl was just turning the corner to a hallway. Cole grinned and sped after her. It was good he was light on his feet. He nimbly skirted around other students and caught up with her. "So! First day here, I'ma guessin'? You a freshie, or a sophomore, or what? Personally, I think yer a bit young t'be a junior and up." Cole gave her his trademark grin. "The name's Cole, by the way. Cole Pilfer's my name. Who might you be?"

All our best heroes are losers. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬Deciding that now was the perfect time to do it, Riley reached around to her back, right pocket, her index finger and thumb taking hold of her cellphone before she pulled it out and laid it in the palm of her hand. It was a plain, black flip phone with nothing really special to it except for the chain that hung from it and the three charms that clinked together as she walked. One charm was of a deer, her favorite animal. Although she did hunt, she made sure never to point a scope or an arrow at a deer, she only hunted other game. Another charm was a soccer ball. She had been playing it since she was five and she was actually pretty good at it. Hopefully though she would get her positon as goalie on the Varsity team again, if try-outs went the way she wanted them to. And the third was of a Gemini symbol, signifying the bond between her and her twin brother. Where is he anyway? She thought to herself just as she rounded the corner to proceed down another hallway.
But a voice directly speaking to her caused her attention to be snapped back to reality, herself hastily sliding her phone back into her back pocket. She would just have to wait to text her brother, she guessed. "Oh uh, I'm a sophomore," She began before she saw his grin. Although she did have her follies with the opposite gender, she had to admit he did have a certain air about him that she just couldn't ignore. "And my name is Riley, Riley McDowell. It's nice to meet you Cole." She told him, her features lightening a bit as another small smile danced across her lips. But she quickly hid it behind her hair as she reached up and moved the majority of it over her left shoulder, running through it with her fingertips. Although she was having a conversation with him, her pace never lessened as she dodged a few people who passed the pair in the hallway, keeping her distance so they never touched. "So I'm guessing you're a freshmen?" She couldn't help but ask. She hadn't seen him before in any of her classes from the year prior, but maybe she didn't look hard enough. But oh well, it was already lingering in the air, awaiting an answer.

Donald was not going to be able to finish the argument between himself and Ledell because they were interrupted by some guys who wanted to start a fight with Astrayl. One of the guys had pushed Donald out of the way, and he was just finishing up saying "Hey, man, that's not cool!" just as Astrayl ripped the one guy's earring out. "Awesome, my man!" he exclaimed as the punks ran away from the boy. Donald walked back up to his friend and put his hand on Astrayl's shoulder. "Man, that was sexy! Is it okay if I fall in love with that moment?" Donald laughed and watched everybody in the hall for a few moments.((OOC - Shouldn't Seth be brothers with the reincarnation of Zeus?))

C O L E xxxxxxp i l f e r Cole couldn't deny that he pouted a bit when the girl told him she was a sophomore. He'd been hoping she was a freshman, so that they might have one or two classes together. Cole had to admit, she was a cutie. He stuffed his hands in his pockets, easily keeping up with the brisk pace she'd set. "Riley, eh? Sweet name. Hopin' I could use it a lot from now on." he said with a wink.
Then, as they passed the main hallway, his sharp, trained eye, caught a scuffle somewhere down the hall. Curious, he stopped abruptly, raising his head to get a better view. It was no good. Why do sophomore and junior heads gotta be so big? he thought. "Wassat? C'mon, let's go take a look!" He took her arm and pulled her down the hallway, jogging slowly enough so she could keep up.
It was already over by the time they reached the scene of the fight. Four boys, big burly ones, rushed past, nearly pushing Cole down in the process. The biggest boy, and the one who led the retreat, clutched his ear in pain. Cole knew the outcome of the fight, but from where he was in the back, he couldn't see who the winner was. The crowd started whispering to eachother, and Cole listened intently for details.
"Did you see that?"
"Just straight out, his arm was like lightning-"
"Ripped the gold straight from his ear-"
"-as if it hardly took any strength at all-"
"-seemed to just snap, he did, and-"
Cole whistled. "Man, a fight on the first day. So cool!" He looked to Riley, smiling at her sheepishly. "M'bad for draggin' ya. Got a bit excited there, ya know. Hardly nothin' ever happens here 'round here, 'sides buffed up rumors and the like."

RileyxxxMcDowellxxx•xx•xx•▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬Never complain, never explain. The bigger the hat, the smaller the property. Winning needs no explanation, losing has no alibi. All our best heroes are losers. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬Riley had rolled her emerald eyes as she heard Cole's feeble attempt at flirting with her. Her fingertips continued to fiddle with her hair, combing through the tangles that the wind created during her brisk walk to school. It was that kind of snarky attitude that turned her off from guys to begin with. Well, it's not like she was a lesbian or anything, she just felt that focusing on her studies and sports was worth more of her time than the mediocrity of relationships. But suddenly the world began to blurr before her eyes as she felt herself being forcefully pulled down the main hallway of the school. She had to kick out her feet at first, trying to find the right rythmn to keep up with him, but once she managed she just went along with it. Better to do that than to hurt herself trying to pry herself from his grasp.
Once the two stopped and a small group of upperclassmen rushed by the pair, nearly knocking Cole out of the way, and in association, Riley as well. Quickly though, she tore her arm away from Cole's grasp, rubbing the muscle with her hand as she let out a light sigh. Her ears perked a bit as she overheard many people beginning to gossip immediately about the scene that had just unfolded. She rolled her eyes once more, not really caring about this gossip. "Yeah some guy got hurt, but ugh, why do people need to react to it like patrons at a zoo?" The young sophomore thought, her hands now pocketed in her front pockets before Cole referred to her once again. "Yeah yeah, it's alright. Just don't be doing that to me again, wouldn't wanna go all marine on ya." She told him with a shrug of her shoulders, flicking her eyes up to a nearby clock. They had about fifteen more minutes until class began and she still hadn't checked out where her locker was yet. "'Cause then I'd prolly kick you're a**." She continued, smirking confidently back in his direction, wanting to humor herself more than anything.

When Seth grabbed Astrayl, everything became a bit clearer. Soon he found himself holding the other students ear ring and dropped it on the ground. "Thanks Seth." He sighed as he pulled his arm away and rubbed his wrist. Even though many other people were affected by Seth's energy, Astrayl and Ledell's boyfriend were two of the few that weren't. He couldn't explain it but Astrayl always felt connected to Seth, more as brothers. "Alright guys we should get to class before there is a seen. I don't think people want to see the schools star swimmer hand covered in blood." He laughed a bit but there was a hint of fear. When Astrayl went berserk it usually ended pretty badly. From another person's point of view they compared him to a monster but from where he stood it was a frightening. When he goes berserk his conscious usually knocks out and he wakes up afterward. As they walked down the hall, the rumors spread like wild fire. Astrayl looked at Donald. "If you like that moment so much why don't we do a repeat on you?" He held his hand up as a joke.

ℓσтυs gaia_spoons ρяєcισυs gaia_spoons ℓєxєятσи LOTUS hurried through the school doors, clutching her books to her chest. Her face was flushed and her mouth tipped with her usual smile: slight and peaceful. She had been distracted on the way in by some lovely flowers. Precious had smelled each one delicately; the scent was light, and they smelled of the springtime, and orchards, and the sun, and summer dresses, and strawberries and cream, and dancing in fields, and laughter, and straw hats, and mown grass, and fresh fruit... She smiled slightly wider in remembrance of their beauty, her eyes closing for a second, her pace checking. A general hubbub of voices, like a bubbling stream, reached her ears and she revelled in it for a moment. Hearing her sister's rebuke in her mind to move faster and most definitely not be late (the horror of that, on the first day!), she reprimanded herself, rather without force, and continued along.
As she scurried through the corridor, she came upon a dissipating crowd. The ebb and flow of people was so interesting, she thought, before she noticed a tall figure. Walking away, parting the crowds with an oddly beautiful symmetry, as if he were stroking powerfully through the water he usually inhabited, was Astrayl, with Seth and Donald. As if unaware of the social gap that separated two Grade 12s and a Grade 11 from a Grade 9, she smiled at them, a wide beam that lit up her face. She shifted her books clutched to her chest, and the little grain stalk that she had placed in her buttonhole that morning fell out. She watched the little ear flutter down to the floor, almost mesmerised by the fragile little gesture in the bustle of school in the morning. "Sorry, little one," she said softly, and bent to pick it up, placing her books neatly beside her.

War is a necessity so that we may know peace...xxxxxxxBrianna Palles slammed the door of her 1970 Charger and glared at it. The old junk pile had stalled halfway to school, and she'd had a hell of a time getting it going again. Leveling a finger, she said, "I'm going inside now. You sit here and think about your behavior. When I come back, you'd better cooperate, or so help me, I'll tow you to the scrapyard and start riding horses to school!"
Of course, the beat-up muscle car just sat there, and Brianna walked inside just in time to catch the aftermath of Astrayl's brief outburst. After some quick asking around, she groaned. Stupid Charger! It made her miss a fight! Actually, it hadn't been much of a fight, according to the hearsay. Just some water thrown and an earring ripped out. Had she been there, she'd have backed the guy against Astrayl, and totally pwned a**. It would grow in the retelling, of course, until finally the tale would rival Oddyseus in epicness.
As the crowd dispersed, Brianna slipped through to find her locker, then pulled her books out for the day.xxxxxxxx... And Athena, goddess of war, enjoys every second of it.

While she was setting her books by subject and class period, she heard the locker beside her open and looked up. "Well hello, Brianna!" she smiled. The girl was a year younger than her, but Ledell thought of her as a friend. There were times when she though of Brianna as a rival, but the first day of school wasn't the time for that. There was nothing for them to compete for just yet. "Did you get your schedule yet?"

xxxxxxxM A V R O S Seth gripped Astrayl's arm firmly until he calmed down. Astrayl sighed and thanked Seth. Seth nodded curtly, as he always did when something like this happened. Fortunately, he was usually there when the swimmer went into his raging warrior mode. Seth didn't want to think about what would happen if he was absent when Astrayl snapped.
"Alright guys, we should get to class before there is a scene. I don't think people want to see the schools star swimmer hand covered in blood," Astrayl said lightly, but Seth detected the tone of fear lying underneath. He could tell that his friend was shaken from the fight. As they turned and strode down the hall, the crowd parted before them, like a rehearsed scene in a play. Something about Seth made them want to back away, but that coupled with Astrayl's own unique aura doubled the reaction. A scene's already happened, despite what you think, Seth thought.
Donald, who had just been standing on the side throughout the whole fight, joined them, wrapping an arm around Astrayl's shoulder. He joked about the whole encounter, laughing loudly, eating up all the attention being paid to them at the moment. Seth walked silently beside Astrayl, focusing on somewhere, yet nowhere.
The crowd kept parting until they finally reached the end, where an unexpected sight greeted them. Scurrying towards them was a young girl, a freshman, with a slight frame and elfish face. She seemed unaware that they were, as the other people called it, the big boys of the school, and gave them a huge smile. Seth could've compared it to a ray of pure, golden sunlight, despite not even liking the sun all that much. Something in his chest happened as her smile fell on him, but he couldn't have explained what.
Seth stopped walking, right then and there. His face was a mask, hiding what was really going on at the moment. Then, a little brown piece - a grain stalk, of all things - fell out of her buttonhole, and she watched it fall to the ground before crouching down to pick it up. Every movement she made just seemed so graceful, delicate. She set her books on the floor beside her. Seth swooped forward, picking up her books for her, then straightened up when she did, towering over her by nearly a head or two. He took a step closer to hand her her books, almost uncomfortably close. His gaze met hers for just a moment. Then, he turned and walked away, without a parting word to Astrayl, Donald, or the girl.
