__//Inside a Cracked Mind

He hadnt been home for days. Days. Cian had gone about his usual days like a robot, there was nothing in his movements other than the memories his muslces had of moving. He went to work, cared for his daughter, pretended he was alright but he wasnt. He had tough about going to look for Chesh, walked out the door to look for him, but he couldnt. If, if Chesh had gone home he couldnt go there. That was where Chesh would go to hide from him, that ment that he had screwed up, he couldnt face that. It was better not knowing. If he didnt know he could at least pretend to smile for his little girl and maybe she wouldnt know he was cracked inside.

Maybe no one would notice that he was still cracked inside if he just stayed quiet and pretended. Maybe, if he was lucky, the cracks would get big enough that they would swallow him and he wouldnt have to think anymore. He was going to loose again, just like he always did in the end. Another draw where he would come up short and time would come and collect the debt.

Bitting into the back of his hand he curled up in his chair, elbows digging into his knees, and tried to stay as silent as he could. He couldn't wake Blithe or Zoe or the Feien or anyone. It was his problem and his to deal with. What could they say to him? That it would be alright in the end? That he should go get Chesh? That it wasnt as bad as it looked? All things he had tried to tell himself and all things he couldnt believe in. How could it be alright if that piece of him was missing? It would never be alright. He could feel the cold metal of his ring against his skin and bit harder into his hand. He had probably broken the skin, or at least was causing a nasty bruise, but he didnt care.

He couldnt care about that. The only thing that could force its way though the cracks was the knowledge that he had to at least stay sane enough to take care of Zoe so that when he finally cracked completely she would know her daddy loved her. Then Blithe could take care of her, she would do that right? She could find Chesh and give Zoe to him and they could live happy knowing he wouldnt be around to mess anything up anymore. He would probably end up in the blackness Wonderland had fallen into and everyone would forget about him like they should.

All he could do was cause problems anyway. He didnt make sence and didnt know how to live so that blackness was probably better. He could crawl into his memories and everything would be fine. Chesh couldnt leave him in his memories, he would never leave him there. Chesh had left him here though, hadn't he?

Choaking on a sob his teeth loosened from his hand for a moment before digging right back into the flesh. He almost didnt notice the pain of his teeth sinking back onto bruised flesh and nerves. If Chesh was back home he was with, he was with them. They would make him feel better wouldnt they? They were nicer and knew how to take care of him and he always called them when Cian wasn't doing it right. Chesh could be happy there. He could forget about Cian and Zoe could have a better family and it would be a happily ever after just like he had wanted it to be. Just like it was supose to be. Mad men never had a happy ending did they? All the more reason for him to leave everyone to their happy endings and stop pretneding like he could be part of one.

__// Two Sides

Upon awakening he rolled quickly from the bed on which he'd slept. He had no idea how much time had passed by, only that it, like many other things, had passed by without him. There was a foul taste in his mouth... A taste that sent him running down the hall to hug the porcelin bowl as if it were his best friend. He wretched until there was nothing more than dryness and choked sobs coming from his mouth.

It was there that the bird found him. Placing firm hands upon the feline's shoulders he lead him back to the bedroom, holding him once more as the uncontrollable sobs fell from his lips. Even when the feline's fingers formed fists that beat upon his chest and shoulders, Paun held tightly. He knew no words of encouragement... Nothing that could make everything better. He only knew that, at this point, he had to hold on to the cat... To keep him safe.

After more time had passed both of them by the sobs ceased. Cheshire was able to breathe slowly once more, even if it felt like something had been torn from his chest. He was feeling more than just his own sorrows... Much more.

The peacock began to speak after the moments of silence, telling the feline of how he'd always admired the strength of the relationship he shared with his husband. As he spoke he took the ring that had been given into his keeping, carefully slipping it back onto the feline's finger. He told him of the times where he'd wished, just once, to know what a love that strong was... To know something that had seemingly crossed worlds just to make it so. Cheshire had that and Paun would be damned to the deepest, darkest level of the obyss if he'd let him give it away just like that.

He shook his head, arguing with the bird even as he looked down to the ring... The ring that had been placed on his finger once with so much love. Was it love? Or was it just posession? And now that he'd given his husband a child was there anything more to it? Was it the end?

Golden eyes widened in shock as he felt the harsh crack of reality in the form of a slap across his soft cheek. His face flushed. He would bare the mark of a handprint until it faded away. He was then forced to listen to the bird, and listen well least he find himself slapped once more.

There was a part of the feline that had remained dormant; a part that he had never known before... A part that made the conceiving of a child along with its growth and development possible. It was now that part which raged, finding the things that the feline once found arousing insulting instead. Used, rejected... He was neither of those things, but he felt them because his husband would turn to alternate means of pleasure rather than rouse him from a sleep that was well needed. Couldn't the feline see this?

A part of the feline did... And that part wept more for its foolishness, twisting the ring around his finger while fretting. The other part remained, sitting proudly in the back of his mind feeling justified. Somehow... Somehow he would need to bring these two parts together before he could be whole once more. Either way, he would not be able to do this alone.

Cheshire had returned home and, after hours of talking, they had made up... Twice. Cian had then made breakfast and, for the fun of it, they'd made up again. It was durring these periods of 'making up' that they realized exactly what had been missing from their lives.

They needed... A vacation. A chance to take that honeymoon that they'd never gone on... A bit of escape from their lives that had been lacking in... Adventure.

Finally, after dates had been set and deals had been made, the day had come. He had spent the past couple of hours packing things to take with him while Blithe readied a suitcase full of toys to be taken over to Merrick's. While she and 'Vyn worked to make up for the hours that Cian would be missing at the club, Merrick would watch the young feline.

He dragged his suitcase out into the hall, grunting and grumbling as he did so. He had reassured Cian that there would be no need for so many clothes, but his husband had insisted that there would be at least one or two reasons to remain dressed... Like dining out. He supposed that he could pack one or two nice things for that.

The man in question was in the living room making sure he had all of the non clothing like things ready. He had, after a few glares from Cheshire, made the kitten agree that the camera needed to come along.

"No, no. We'll be on our way there in a few. Chesh is packing and you are kinda on our way." He had his cellphone, the rarely used device, tucked between his ear and his shoulder. The gruff voice filtering though the other end had to be none other than Merricks. "Yes, yes. We will...and for the hundreth time no." Shaking his head he laughed and finished the conversation with the wolf as Cheshire came out.

"Want some help with that?"

"N-- Yes." He snorted, giving the suitcase a quick kick. He then collected himself as Blithe carried Zoe into the room. The grin on his daughter's face was beautiful... Everything about her was beautiful, especially the little dress that they'd put her in for her special outting.

He held his arms out, chuckling as she reached for him in return. "How's my little darling? Ready to go visit Uncle Merrick and Aunt 'Vyn..." He paused for a moment as he shifted the toddler against him, casting a raised-eyebrow glance towards Cian. "... Or is Merrick the 'Aunt' this week?"

Blithe rolled her eyes as she disappeared into her room to gather Edwyn and Alaw, quite suprised that she'd yet to hear James start complaining about being left behind.

He laughed as he walked over to retrieve Cheshire's suitcase. Setting it with his he made sure they had everything one more time before Cheshire's comment caught his attention.

"With the way he sounded on the phone?" He grinned as he walked over to press a kiss to his daughters forehead. "Dont you look like the little princess you are." He straightened her bow while he smiled at her.

James had not caused a rucus because Cian had explained, in detail, that if James was not a good boy and didnt take care of the bloom while he was gone he would disown him. The little Feien couldnt take the thought.

The little one gurgled, flexing her fingers at her father. "Agabawa." Nonsense words. They'd all been nonsense so far but, soon enough, there would be real words. She was growing so fast...

"I... Suppose I should give her back now, shouldn't I?" His brow raised slightly as his gaze shifted towards Blithe. "Afterall, if Cian and I go with you to Merrick's will miss the ferry... And we didn't pay all of that money for a private cabin just to miss it." He then looked back down to his daughter. "You... You'll be good for the wolves, won't you?"

Zoe reached up and pawed at Cheshire's nose, gently grasping it before babbling a bit more. "Ogowawa."

Blithe smiled as she took the little girl from her father's arms, holding her out to Cian so that he could say his 'good-byes' as well, even if Zoe seemed more interesting in the Feien perched on her Aunt's shoulder than anything else. "FA!"

He took his daughter for a moment and cuddled her. "We'll miss you, and when we come back i promise we'll have a teaparty just for the family." She cooed at him for a few minuets before he reluctantly handed her back to Blithe.

"Alright, you guys get going. We will miss the ferry if we dont get going and the longer the lot of you stand there the longer we will be here." As he spoke James peeked out of his bowl and fluttered up.

"You werent going to leave me here were you!" He Perched himself on Blithe's shoulder and glared at her. "That would have been very rude"

"Of course I wasn't going to leave you here." She laughed, reaching up to gently pat James' head with the tip of her finger. "You are going with Zoe to make sure that everything goes well... I'm sure that Irvyn will just love you."

She shifted Zoe against her into a position that would be more comfortable for carrying. "Say 'bye-bye' to your fathers, Zoe!" She chuckled as the little one did indeed wave, babbling her version of 'goodbye'.

His lip quivered as he watched the suitcase disappear from the door, listening as the elevator's gears began to shift. "Our little girl... Growing up so fast..." He sniffled before turning back to Cian. "She'll be alright while we're gone, won't she?"
PostPosted: Wed May 10, 2006 6:26 pm

He wrapped his arms around Chesh. "She will be fine. Vyn and Merrick will keep her company and we'll have our own fun." He kissed the kitten lightly as the elevator door slid shut. While they were on their way for adventure so was their little girl

"No fretting. We will have a nice little boat trip and a nice vacation on the beach."

"Good...i would be upset if you left me." He settled on her shoulder and smiled at Zoe. He was going to stay well out of her reach as long as he could. Like her father she looked like she always wanted to eat him.

"Again, why would I ever leave behind Zoe's favorite chew-toy?" She flashed James a teasing smile as they stepped out into the sun. They had a nice little walk to the clinic where they'd be meeting up with Merrick. The wolf would take the kitten from there and she'd head to work... Work. Ugh.

Edwyn's wings fluttered as he leaned over to whisper something to Alaw. Alaw's nose scrunched quickly. "Now, now... Zoe wouldn't eat any of us. Not even James. Lady Blithe wouldn't allow it."

... ... ...

He gave one last look around the apartment before nudging his husband gently. "Grab the bags, love... We're off to Gambino."

Merrick sat on the steps of the Clinc Cian had told him to wait at. Blithe would be there soon to drop off Zoe so she could cover for Cian at the bar and he could watch the little one.

He had cleaned the house so that the place was child proof and tucked away everything that she didnt need to get her hands on. Vyn was at home making lunch for all of them and should be happy to see him and the little girl.

The sounds made by the band of travelers would be heard far before the wolf could hear them. As if an energetic toddler wouldn't be enough there were three fairies and the clatter of wheels; a suitcase full of things that Zoe wouldn't have been pleased to have left behind... At least, neither of her father's had believed that the things should be left behind.

Oddly colored eyes; one green, one blue, glistened as they caught sight of the man with the fluffy ears and the tail. "Merrick, I presume?"

"Of course that's Merrick!" The silver fairy grinned, that grin only faultering when the white fairy nudged him with an elbow. "You wouldn't know, 'Dwyn... You've never seen a Merrick before."

He had listened to the band for a while and grinned as they appeared. "Yes. Merrick. I would shake your hand but you seem to have your hands full."

Smiling at Zoe and the fairies he hoped that his fangs didnt intemidate them. It was close enough to the moon that he had to look a little more 'wolfish' than usual.

"A pleasure to meet you, Merrick." She grinned her oddly innocent grin. "Zoe... This is Mr. Merrick." She turned the tiny feline towards him, watching as the little golden eyes grew instinctively wide. She remained still, clinging tightly to Blithe as she eyed the wolf-man.

Her grasp then suddenly loosened upon catching sight of his fangs. Her father had tiny fangs sort of like those. Her arms went out, reaching for Merrick to take hold of her. "... Good. She likes you."

"She likes everyone..." Alaw grinned, frowning only after hearing Edwyn's words. "Especially if they can be chewed on."

He held out his hands and took the little girl from Blithe. He had always been good with kids. He suposed that is why all the females in his pack had liked him around, even if he wasnt their father. "Arent you a little cutie." He poked her cheeks lightly and smiled at her.

"So you are the fluffy uncle-aunt-thing that Cian talks about." James peered at the wolf with a slight frown. He looked at Edwyn after a moment. "You have no room to speak, she hasnt chewed on your leg!"

"She didn't chew on your leg either... Cian stopped her." He grinned, sticking his tiny tongue out at James. Alaw had always been kind to the loud fairy but he wasn't kept bound by this 'knighthood' crap. He could speak his thoughts plainly.

Blithe coughed at James' words, trying not to laugh. Instead, she reached up, holding out her hand so that she could transport the fairy from her shoulder to that of the wolf. "This is James. He talks alot... But he's not so bad. And this..." She nudged the suitcase towards Merrick. "This here thing contains stuff that Cian and Cheshire wanted Zoe to bring with her... Toys, teapots, cups and the like."

"Zoe likes teaparties. Lady Blithe says that when she's older we'll all sit and have real tea."

Zoe scrunched her nose as she was poked, making her 'lion' face at Merrick while making a rather pathetic attempt at a 'rawr'.

Gasping in mock horror at Zoe he grinned. "Dont eat me." He turned to Blithe as she introdouced the feien.

"I am not loud...not anymore" James huffed as he crawled onto Merrick's shoulder. "Damn...you have the fluffy ears too. Does half the family have them or what?"

"You could say that." James would probably get a suprise out of Vyn having them too. "So, teapots and things. I guess i should get going and let you get to work. Vyn probably has lunch ready and will be angry if i take too long and it gets cold."

"He won't be angry. Some of his meals are better when they're cold." She grinned as she reached out to gently fluff Zoe's hair. "Be good, little one... Bring her by the loft this evening. 'Vyn will be able to show you where it is. C'mon, boys... You two have a bloom to watch and I have work to do!"

"Not this one." He settled Zoe on his hip and picked up her suitcase. "I'll make sure to get her back all in once piece, no worries."

"Ready to go?" He looked at Zoe and when she giggled happily he nodded. "Well that settles it." He hefted her things and headed for his home. Vyn would be waiting and they could have lunch and play with their little neice for the rest of the day.

Join Me For Tea?

Skye Starrfyre
Curiosity was known to kill cats... But the young feline had nothing to worry about there because she was not a cat. No. She was a kitten... And she was quite curious as to what might lie on the other side of the door that she stood before. She pointed at it with a tiny hand, pouting her lips prettily as she hugged her catterpillar plush to her body.

Her father shook his head slowly as he held the door open for her. "After you, Zoe." He watched as she padded into the waiting room. Cats. So independant at such a young age... Hopefully that part of her that was 'human' would kick in soon. Before she felt that she was too old to need her father around.

Chibi Sheepcat
"Uh huuuuh... so if you add this funky x to five it'll give you eight?"

Sachiya murmured allowed, tapping his pencil eraser against his chin as he stared at his math homework. After his run-in with Havok's kitsune tribe, Chibi had decided that he should really focus on his studies, seeing as that was a heck of a lot safer than playing around in the Inverse. Why Chibi thought algebra was safer than spending time with Revir was beyond Sachi, but he had decided not to argue. Besides, Havok had told him that he'd take him back if he was able to finish this unit in math. Wewt.

Black-tipped ears perked the moment the clinic door opened, causing Sachiya to glance up from the numbers and variables scrolled legibly on his notebook. Someone was here? Awesome! Now the math could be forgotten! Chibi wouldn't mind. It wasn't like he was ditching it for something dangerous. Socializing was a good thing! Watching the door closely, Sachi made a curious noise when Zoe stepped in. Woaaah, look at her! She was so... colourful! The tanuki boy waved, hoping to catch her attention. Let the meeting begin!

Skye Starrfyre
Shiney black shoes with hard soles touched the tile floor, creating soft tapping noises that she rather enjoyed. White socks were folded carefully so that a little lace ruffle hugged her ankles. Her dress was pristine, 'apron' tied neatly around pale pink fabric, skirt poofed out by petticoats. She was a miniature neat-freak of sorts... Liking things clean. In order. Perfect.

Golden eyes gleamed as her tail flickered back and forth. Movement. She froze, hugging her plushie to her tightly as if this intruder would come after it. Nevermind that she was the intruder... Her brow furrowed slightly as she took a cautious step towards the boy, eyeing him warily.

Cheshire smiled as he watched his daughter carefully, leaning back against the wall besides the now-closed door. She could venture forth on her own for a bit and he'd be watching from a distance. Afterall, she had to learn sometime.

Chibi Sheepcat
Aww... she was so cute. Sachiya, surprisingly, was quite used to dealing with girls. Not only was his best friend a girl, but he had decided that the daughter of his father's friend was now his little sister. He had never been exposed to the idea of "cooties", and - to be quite honest - he found that girls were usually more interesting than boys. They talked a lot, for one, and they always brought nifty things with them. Like this one. That caterpillar plushie was awesome.

Watching this dainty little one move closer to him, Sachi carefully set down his math homework, leaning down so he was resting his chin on his knees (flexibility was a wonderful thing). That way, he'd be closer to her level, without having to get down from his chair. Red eyes watching her intently, he smiled.

"Hey little one... What's your name?"

His gaze shifted momentarily to Cheshire, one ear swiveling backwards, before both ears and eyes focused back on the little girl. He wasn't standing in a threatening manner, so Sachiya could assume that he wasn't going to interfere.

Skye Starrfyre
"Zoe." Her name was easy to say, flowing from her tongue as if the response had been well-practiced. That was, of course, partially because at one point she had stood in a room saying her name over and over again. Yes, the day she had discovered her reflection.

She held the bright green plush up in front of her, giving it a little shake to show her favorite toy off before speaking once more, "Pilar." Because every favorite toy needed a name and should be introduced properly to strangers, just in case said strangers weren't sure that the toy belonged to someone.

No, he wasn't threatening. The instinctual need to fluff up and threaten any and all who came near his daughter had passed, thankfully, after she'd become a toddler. Now he simply had to admit that there were some things she was going to do on her own... And, sometimes, exploring was one of them.

Chibi Sheepcat
Zoe huh? That was easy to remember, and he didn't even have to shorten it to do so. Awesomeness. Sachiya liked names that were short; once they got past five or six letters he had trouble remembering the whole name. He'd remember the face, but the name would ever stay unless it was short and easy to recall, like Zoe. And even Pilar. That was nice a short.

Cataloging the name and faces of both his new acquaintances, Sachiya's smile widened, his tail twitching eagerly. Meeting new people was always such fun, and he hadn't been able to see anyone for ages since his encounter with Revir. It was nice to finally have a person to talk to that he didn't see every day. "Nice to meet you, Zoe and Pilar," he replied politely, before adding, "I'm Sachiya. Sachi, if you'd like. Is that your dad?" He nodded towards Cheshire. Better to find out now than make bad assumptions later.

Skye Starrfyre
"Sah-chi?" Her brow furrowed slightly. His name was 'no fun'. It was hard to make her mouth say and she didn't quite care for it. She'd simply have to find something else to call him in time. Yes. That was it. Just like she'd shortened Caterpillar's name. "Chi." Much better.

Her head tilted slightly in the direction of her father. "Nope." She liked that word. 'Nope' along with 'no' were simply the greatest words ever... Next to Zoe, of course. "Papa. Dad'at'ome." Sentence structure was still something that she was working on. Some things came easier than others... And some things were just easier to run together into a fantastically great new word.

Chibi Sheepcat
Uh oh. She was starting to frown. That was not good. He'd seen that expression - not to mention made it quite often himself - and it wasn't exactly a good sign. Before Sachiya could respond, Zoe had already sorted her frown out, and shortened his name even further. Chi huh? That wasn't too bad. He'd been called that before, and it was better than Zoe making up some rude name for him. Chi is was then.

The "nope" made Sachi tilt his head. So he wasn't her father? Maybe he was her guardian then, or just another person who lived in their house. He had a couple of those, so the thought wasn't that abstract. Zoe, however, followed the "nope" with "Papa", and then a string of words that sounded something like "Dad at home." Huh. She had two dads?

Sachiya did an inward dance of joy. It was always a little awkward when he had to explain to people that he really did have two fathers. Sure he'd met single parents, as well as kids with two mothers, but he'd never before met someone who had two fathers like he did. It made him feel a little better that he wasn't the only one out there. "My daddy and my father are at home too," he said matter-of-factly, grinning down at her. "Did you come here to meet someone?"

Skye Starrfyre
She pondered his next question for a moment before shaking her head, sending curled locks of pink and silver hair bouncing alongside her face. "Nope." Once more the word seemed to fall perfectly from her lips. That word had so many uses.

She had come to the clinic because, while out on a walk, her father had been telling her things about the different buildings... And this door had seemed more interesting than all of the others. She had no way of communicating those exact things, of course. Words were still slowly working their way into her vocabulary. "Cur---Cur-ee-ous."

Unable to keep himself from doing so, the elder feline chuckled softly, bringing a hand up quickly to his lips as he caught a princess-like-glare from his little girl. "Do forgive me for interrupting, Zoe. I'll leave you to your conversation." His voice held traces of his laughter, matching golden eyes dancing.

Chibi Sheepcat
Again, another nope. Sachiya wondered absently if this had been the only thing he'd been able to say at that age. It wouldn't have been surprising if it had, seeing as Chibi tended to say "no" quite a lot. Then again, Havok didn't take no for an answer, so he supposed he had been very careful about when he said no and when he didn't.

Pulled back into the real world by Zoe's attempt at sounding out a word, Sachiya's ears perked as he waited. Ooh, this was going to be more difficult than the last combination of words. Curry...ous... No, that didn't make any sense. He didn't even think that was a word. Scrunching his nose, he tried another combination of emphasis. Curee... Curee... hold up, that sounded a lot like "curious." Aha! Now that made sense. So she was curious.

He had just opened his mouth to reply when a chuckle interrupted their conversation, causing him to look up towards Cheshire. What was he laughing at? Him? No... probably not. At Zoe? Naw. Maybe he'd seen a funny looking bird outside. That must be it. "It's okay... sir..." Sachiya said with a small smile, before turning his attention back to Zoe.

"So you were curious? That's good. You get to see lotsa new things when you're curious."

Skye Starrfyre
Her little brow wrinkled as she turned, sticking a tiny pink tongue out in her father's general direction. It was, suprisingly enough, met with a matching look from her father. Oooh! If she wasn't so very attatched to her plushie she'd... She'd toss it at him.

No, she wouldn't. She would never do such a thing to Pilar. Or her father. As tempting as it may be.

Instead, she turned her attentions back fully towards Chi. She nodded, a bright smile lighting the petite features of her face. "Cur-ee-ous cat." Her tail flickered slowly behind her as she spoke, golden eyes going wide as she finally notched that... He had ears kinda like hers! "Chi-kitty?"

Chibi Sheepcat
The exchange between Zoe and her father made Sachiya giggle inwardly, having already learned that laughing in the presence of this little kitten was not a good idea. He'd have to thank "Papa" later for teaching him such a valuable lesson. He was a lot closer to this little pink kitty than he was, and he wasn't sure she wouldn't consider pulling his ears or something equally as nasty if he pissed her off. He wasn't her father, so she wouldn't have any qualms about abusing him. Probably safer to be on his very best behaviour.

An each flickered back when Zoe's eyes went wide, fearing for a moment that he had actually made a giggling noise and upset her. Zoe, however, asked him a question, and a very innocent one at that. A kitty? "Nope. I'm a....raccoon." It would mean nothing to her if he tried to explain the mixture of animals he was, and so he felt that it would be much better to just tell her he was a raccoon. He looked the part anyways. "Have you ever seen one of those?"

Skye Starrfyre
Zoe wouldn't pull ears. She'd learned at a young age that pulling ears resulted in having ones ears pulled and that was not something she liked to experience... Neither was the pulling of a tail. Stupid winger-thing had pulled her tail before. Daddy had yelled at him, of course, but he'd still pulled her tail.

"Coon?" She bit down on her lower lip, thinking about that one for a moment. A lightbulb seemed to have gone off in her little head and she quickly dropped her plushie, bringing her hands up to her face so that each one formed a circle-like mask around her eyes. She puffed her tail up a bit and stared wide-eyed at Sachiya. "Coon-kitty." Obviously she had seen one before.

Then, realizing that she'd dropped her plush, she quickly lowered her hands, bending down to retrieve Pilar. She dusted him off before pulling him back into her arms.

Chibi Sheepcat
Tail pulling was another big no-no. Havok and Chibi had told him very early on that tail pulling was not a good thing, but it hadn't been 'til Maelon pulled his that he'd realized why it was not nice. Not only tail, but feathers too. Sachiya hated having people try and pull on the feathers in his wing, or even hanging off his leathery one. That was really nasty.

Sachiya waited patiently while she thought, hoping she knew what he was talking about. If not, he could always doodle a quick picture of one on his math book. Zoe, however, seemed to know exactly what he was talking about. When she made pretend circles around her eyes he nodded eagerly. "That's it! Raccoon. We have striped tails too." As if to show her proof, he wiggled his tail. "See?" He paused, before adding thoughtfully, "You have a striped tail too. Are you a coon-kitty?"

Skye Starrfyre
"Nope." She giggled. It was the giggle of a happy little girl who seemed to think that it was wonderfully fantastic that her 'pretend' had been good enough to make the boy think that she was a coon-kitty too.

"Zoe jus' chesh-kitty." And when she grew up she'd be able to host big, wonderful tea-parties... And stand on her head... And... And... Lots of things. Why, if her father had let her bring her tea set along on their walk she could've invited Chi to a tea party.

Then again, why couldn't she just invite him to one now?

"Tea party?" She questioned curiously, tail slowly ticking by back and forth behind her. Her ears were straight atop her head, eyes watching Sachiya intently as she awaited his answer.

Not a coon-kitty? Darn. Then again, Sachi had never seen a pink and grey raccoon, but he could always assume that there was one out there. He'd have to ask Havok. He knew everything, and probably could tell him not only if there was a pink and grey coon-kitty, but also what a chesh-kitty was because Sachi didn't have the foggiest. He didn't even know what a "chesh" was. Probably something pink. That made sense.

The question made Sachiya tilt his head, not really sure what she meant. A tea party? People had parties for tea? Did that even make sense? He hesitated for a moment, before asking slowly, "What's a... tea... party?" Whatever it was, she seemed to want him to go. The least she could do was tell him what it was before he committed. He might have to do something silly to get into this "tea party." You never know.

Skye Starrfyre
How on earth could someone not know what a tea party was? She would have to take him back to her home and educate him immediately! "Papa!" She cried out, turning towards the elder feline. One hand held tightly to Pilar while the other curled into a tiny fist to be paced upon her hip. "Tea time." She nodded in a most matter-of-fact manner.

He sighed, bringing a hand up to his head as he shook it slowly. Heavens, next time he'd just pack that silly looking green tea set that had come from one of Skye's friends into her traveling bag... "Zoe, darling, I don't have your tea set." He watched as her brow furrowed and her face turned pink... Was she holding her breath? He could hold his too if she was... Probably for alot longer than she could.

It was when her cheeks puffed out and she began to look like one of those silly inflated fishes that he turned back towards the boy. "A tea party is a party in which the hostess serves imaginary tea, juice in Zoe's case, along with sandwiches and cookies if she's been well-behaved. Alas, I have left her tea set at home and I'm certain that neither of your fathers would appreciate you following a stranger back to their house or make-believe tea."

Zoe pouted. "Not 'magin'ry."

"Of course not." He smiled softly as he took a step towards the two, reaching down to lightly fluff one of his daughter's ears.

Tea time? There was a set time when you had to have tea? Sachiya had never heard of this before. Watching the interaction between Zoe and her father, he decided that he definitely didn't know what they were talking about. Something about tea and no tea sets and Sachiya was starting to get a headache trying to figure out what one did with tea that came in sets that you did stuff with at parties and aarg.. too much stuff to think about! Luckily, Cheshire decided to save the day with his explanation. Yay Cheshire.

Oooh, so you went to people's houses and had tea and cookies. That made a lot more sense than this "tea in sets" business. It sounded very cool! But what was this? His fathers would mind?

"They wouldn't mind so much, I'd just have to call-" Sachiya was interrupted by a loud beep from his watch. Glancing down at it he "eeped" softly, scrambling to grab his math books. He was supposed to be home now! Chibi was going to kill him! He'd assume he was out with Revir or something like that and then he'd be in big trouble. Pausing in his scrambling, Sachi scrawled a number down on a piece of paper, tearing it out and handing it to Zoe.

"I'd love you come for a tea party. Have your Papa call me when it's best." Winking, he stuffed his books into his back and dashed towards the door.

He was definitely looking forward to this "tea party" business.
