Tambuzi winced more at Ripuka's singing than at the attempted swipes and potential gashes. He had heard little of the Firekin on his travels, but the few stories he had ehard had painted a specific image in his mind - strong and proud fighters, with a certain air of skewed dignity.

Ripuka shattered that image in an instant.

Sure, she had the fighting insincts, and was certainyl very proud of herself anf her kind. But the singing was so out of sync with the rest of her, it was almost laughable.

In fact, Tambuzi let out a chortle, and returned to his younger days when a fight bewteen two other lions was something get all excited and giddy about. The dimintuative lion bounced up and down on his perch, wacthing the fight and almost breaking out into a cheer. When he thought about, he'd only just met the both of him, so he couldn't choose sides really. Although he'd be extremely embarrassed if the female won.

He was getting annoyed. Excellent! The pleased smirk spread with sickly sweet joy across her face, her brilliant pelt glimmering as she moved. She was well aware that she had an air of madness about her, but she had long ago learned to embrace this personality flaw rather than fight against it.

Her madness after all...had saved her many times before, and she knew it would save her again.

"Oh, and it will kill you. It will." She laughed shrilly then, trying to keep her face out of the dust clouds as best she could. Already she could feel her eyes and nose beginning to sting and it was definately distracting her. But even as he yelled at her about not being slow she threw back her head and eyed him with a look that said: 'I wasn't even trying.'

Ripuka loved to make banter during a fight, perhaps it was a tactic she used to overcome the other, put them off the fight with chatter. It was a skill she had come to master and had only recently added the singing into the so-called 'dance'.

His next move almost took her surprise - but not quite - his movements allowing her to swerve to the right and away from his large, crushing paws. Her agility was what had kept her alive, and though she was tired she would put everything she had into keeping out from under him. "Stop trying to hit me and hit me!" ((*shot for bad use of quote* xD )) She slipped further to the right, keeping her good eye on him always. It was important she kept him in sight and she found herself ever cursing her disability. It tended to make things very difficult.

Instead of trying to make another attack she continued circling, bouncing backwards and forwards somewhat erratically. "Well? You going to stand there all day and hope I fall asleep?" She taunted, catching sight of the smaller male watching the fight - looked like he was enjoying the little show.

Zizima scoffed and let out a short, harsh laugh. "I know you're blind, and I know you're stupid, but surely you're not so blind and stupid that you can't see where this fight is going." He wasn't refering to her bad eye specifically, he was refering to her blindness in regards to the Firekins. Her stupidity was obviously linked to that.

"I could go on for hours. Just waiting for you to tire out, or slip up." He sneered. "I'm just waiting for you to start sinking, and then drown." The metaphor he used was meaningful because that was how he hunted someyimes. He would drive his prey into the water and wait for them to tire out and start to sink, and then he would go in for the kill. Wether or not the Firekin female would find this intimidating remained to be seen, as he began circling opposite her, keeping a fair distance between them both for the time being. His attention was momentarily directed towards Tambuzi, who seemed to be having a good time. "Heh."

Tambuzi was beginning to think this was more a war of words than physical strength. She used them to distract and taunt Zizima, and he used them to rip apart Ripuka's beliefs. The female's erratic actions, whilst proving efficient in battle, led the little lion to assume the Firekin femme was missing some important circuity upstairs. A lion like that was hard to predict, even for a battle-analyst like Tambuzi.

Perhaps his comments had been a little too far, or maybe Ripuka had just wanted to try and take him by surprise. But either way the dance was going to be over, sooner than both of them imagined.

The brilliant pelted lioness sprang forwards, no words leaving her maw this time as she pounced, her great and powerful form flying through the air as she tried to wrap herself around his shoulders, claws and teeth trying to latch onto anything they could find.

How dare he mock her blindness when he himself was more scarred than she. Perhaps she had paid more for her scar but her disability was a weakness and she hated it.

Her fur bristled as she snarled viciously, praying that this surprise attack would pay off. If not then she was a dead lioness, that was for sure.

Zizima didn't budge. He simply braced himself for the undoubtedly hard impact. He let out a roar as the female's claws connected with his shoulders and dug themselves in. It hurt yes, but he had her where he wanted her now, and he couldn't blow this oppertunity. Using his obvious strength, he lunged forward against Ripuka, bringing his front paws up in an attempt to dig them somewhere into the female so that he could drag her down to the ground. No matter what happened, he couldn't let her get away.

Tambuzi froze on his rocky perch, leaning forward, almost ready to kick those springy limbs into action, his tail stuck far out behind him for balance. Amber eyes dilated as they let the images unfolding before him flood in to his already whirring brain.

Just as Zizima wrenched his heavy paws high to try and snag the lioness, Tamba leapt from his perch onto the dusty ground, still keeping his distance though. At a moment's notice, he could streak in and act as body-blocker. He had no right to take sides. He knew nothing about either of them, but he'd rather not see a death.

She felt his weight against her and for the first time panic set in. Her heart raced and every beat brought her a pang of terror that sent shudders throughout her body. What had she done!?

She heard motion behind her, the other lion perhaps? And with that knowledge in her mind she knew she was going to die. These males would take her out and laugh at her pitiful attempt, her name would be spoiled, trodden upon like the carcass of a rotting leaf.

Her legs slipped out from under her and the ground struck the breath from her lungs as she threw her head back and roared her anger. The fury in the sound caused the stones to rattle around her but it was too late, no sound would save her now. Her limbs flailed, her claws scrabbling to keep their hold upon the male's great shoulder. Her back legs came up to push against his chest, trying to keep his jaws from making contact with her now vulnerable belly, but in the end she knew.

He would overpower her.

Her desperate attempt to break free from his hold continued for a long time, her tail flailing as she tried to stay balanced, rolling on her back in the dust as if to stir up enough to camoflague herself. The plan didn't work and as she stared into his large face she knew...she was completely at his mercy.

Zizima snarled and forced all his weight on to her, struggling to keep her down as she kicked and flailed. "Stay still will you?!" He roared, digging his claws deeper into her shoulders in an attempt to pin her down. The fight was all but over, yet she still put up a fight. It was admirable really, because he knew that he wouldn't be reacting any differently if it was him that was so close to defeat.

"Listen to me!" Of course he could've ended it there and then. One swift bike to her neck, which was vulnerable, and it would all be over. But how could he blame her for what she was? All he could blame her for was not even trying to accept that the Firekin were scum, he couldn't actually blame her for being born and raised as one. He sighed heavily, still snarling. "No doubt you will return to the Firekin, regardless of what has been said today...all I ask is that you at least try to see things differently."

After a few moments of just staring into her one good eye, he moved off Ripuka to her side, releasing his grip and allowing her to get to her feet. He flicked back his mane and took in a few breathes. After all that, it occured to him that he didn't even know the female's name. "For future reference, my name is Zizima. Perhaps if we meet again, we can both be more civilised."

Tambuzi's thoughts were with the now helpless female pinned down by Zizima's mass. He padded a little closer, his frame quite springy and tense, not the relaxed and loose posture of a lion at ease. His eyes fixed on the pair intently, boring holes into the both of them. Zizima had the clear advantage now, could have ended this in a second.

So, it came as a surprise to this small lion that Zizima let her go! He was just within earshot of their words, and Tamba found it almost a complete change of heart on Zizima's part. If he had felt that way in the first place, why had he just not walked away? The new scars they had both acquired would, indeed, prove a reminder of today's lesson, but they were quite un-neccessary. At least in Tamba's mind.

He watched the large lion stalk past him, his small head following the grey mass for a while, before flicking back to the bright red lioness. He didn't relax any. Although her ego had taken a serious bashing, that could possibly fuel another attack.

There was a foul taste in her mouth - the taste of defeat - and it left the lioness reeling with anger even as he released her. What was he doing? Why the hell didn't he claim the victory? What sort of lion was he? Perhaps she should have been thankful for his mercy and in a way she was, but being freed like this was humiliating. Her ego had taken a hit and she had half a mind to chase after that grey beast and get him to finish the job.

So why didn't she?

She staggered to her paws and drew herself up as proudly as she could manage, eyes settling heavily upon the smaller lion. "What are you looking at short-stuff?" She snarled, aggravated by the fact that not only had she been beaten but it had also been witnessed by someone else. Now there would be rumours that a Firekin had been beaten in a fight, a rumour that had never occured before no doubt.

Her back legs crumpled beneath her so that she was held up by nothing but her trembling forelegs, her growls getting increasingly louder as her rage built up. She would return to the Firekin, of that she was sure, but these doubts that had been placed into her mind by this Zizima would not be forgotten. She hated him for that, despised him for making her doubt her own morals, her own way of life. She would try to forget, and she definately wouldn't hand out her name. Did he want it so he could spread the news; 'heard of that weak Firekin Ripuka? Maybe she's not even of The Blood.' She couldn't do it, she couldn't destroy her reputation.

Remaining in her vulnerable position, she raised her head higher and blinked her good eye at the others. Eugh...males.

Then with a lazy flick of her tail she finally lowered herself into a laying position and paused to lick at a forepaw, keeping one eye on Tambuzi and Zizima. It wasn't too late for the big grey oaf to change his mind.

(( sweatdrop SO sorry it took me so long to properly end this guys... ))

Zizima was almost certain that the female wouldn't attack as he walked away, but it was better to be safe than sorry. He breifly glanced back over one of his broad shoulders and eyed the lioness. No, she wouldn't dare attack again, even though she most certainly could've managed it. Her pride was more badly damaged than her body it would seem.

Once his eyes had left the lioness, they fell upon Tambuzi. "It's been...interesting, to say the least. I'll not forget your name Tambuzi, and I hope that next time we meet, we'll have a little more time to discuss your swimming technique." Saying that, he chuckled lightly, before turning away from both of them and continuing on his way.

Tambuzi scowled at the firey femme, just pulling his tongue out at her as Zizima addressed him. He looked over his shoulder at the large male.

"H-hey, whats that supposed to mean?" he felt offended. He scrambled to the top of his rock again.

"You're the one who needs lessons, chunky!" he chuckled after the lion, trying to end on a victorious note. Deep down, he knew he just sounded incredibly childish instead.

Tambuzi jumped down with a smirk on his face, which quickly disappeared as he spied the defeated lioness once more. He almost felt a pang of guilt or sympathy for her. He shuffled off into the long grass.
