Wolf laughed at her growl, he may have actually been afraid in a different situation. "I'll get you another." He said, simply looking down at her. he was silent for a long moment, simply taking in her scent, believing that she was actually alive. Wolf had been certain that she wouldn't have made, even as a sliver of hope had rang in his heart.... so many had been lost already, the rest in hiding... the situation was far from good. Still, as he looked down at her a playful glint entered his eyes.

He was about to say something to her when he remembered the blood in the river, jumping off her he nosed her body looking for the wound. It didn't take long to find it on her rump, what appeared to be long and deep claw marks. A few days old but reopened for some reason; though he could be wrong, they may have been fresher than he knew. He turned his gaze to hers, narrowing his eyes for a moment. "What did this?"

Wolf growled under his breath at her story, so they still didn't know much? Except the thing obviously had claws to have done this to Rose. Cursing he turned, circling Rose and her kill as he tried to think. What would they do? What could they do?

He paused and looked out at the forest... maybe it was time for him to take action into his own paws?

Wolf looked at her with a look that clearly said; 'You dare to question me still?' though as she moved before him and spoke the threat he hissed in a breath. Great! He had heard rumours of walkers, and catwalkers tended to be particularly dangerous when it came to wolves, though he didn't know the reason. Maybe the cat in them wanted to get back at anything that looked remotely like a dog... even though Wolf himself believed that they looked nothing like mutts and were far superior.... GRRR! The growl rumbled in his throat as he spoke out loud. "This isn't good."

He moved passed Rose then until he was next to her, then he sat down, his head on his front paws as he tried to decide what to do. Their numbers weren't doing too well... but leaving wasn't an option either. Maybe... now that they knew what they were up against.... they could launch an attack and try to reclaim what was theirs? But at what cost? If they lost any more of the females they would never be able to restock their dwindling numbers, and although he hated to see females as nothing more than 'breeding stock' he couldn't ignore that fact either.

Wolf knew she was right. Once a walker picked a territory it was near impossible to drive it off.... he would have suggested finding an Angeni or two but that would show his weakness. He closed his eyes and covered his nose with his paws for a moment until he heard her next words, he turned his head to look at her. Staring at her in disbelief. Rose wasn't normally one to share things like that... at least not with him.... or perhaps he had just missed it? He didn't know, what he did know was the wolf beside him had changed, grown somehow.

He remained silent for a moment, warring with himself about what to say.... eventually a few little words won out; "I missed you too." What had possessed him to say such a thing he didn't know, but now that they were out in the open he knew them to be true.

The fact that she remained silent at his words made Wolf feel strangely rejected, even as he had realised that he been wanting acceptance for something. He accepted her touch, touch was important to any wolf pack, the way that the bounds grew and stayed between them.... but still. He lowered his head to the ground slightly. Too much was happening, his mind was so full, his feelings confused.

And eventhough he risked showing weakness he needed to know.... "Did you miss me?" If she said no, or something wishy washy like 'I missed everyone' He would never broach the subject again.

At her n**, no matter how soft he lifted up his head and glared at her, only Rose would ever had dared do something like that... of course, she was probably the only one he would let get away with it. Did she know that? Her tag had been too small for his neck so he had wrapped it around his leg and fluffed up his fur to hide it as best as he could. Not everyone needed to know of his weakness, though since most believed her dead they simply believed he was mourning her death in his own way... how wrong they were.

He relaxed a little but said in a tone of utter dominace, "Don't look at me like that.... I have never treated you like that...." She may not understand but he got the impression from her look that she didn't want to be seen as just any 'other'..... Using his teeth and wiggling his paw he wriggled her tag off for her. "Here." He said, hesitating a little one the question he really wanted answering.

Wolf didn't do well with rejection... never had, and he suspected he never would... but sometimes, if you never asked you never knew.... and then before you realised it you had lost your opportunity. He rose to his all fours, he had never done this before, had never even paid attention when others had done it.... and to be honest he was a nervous as hell. "Mate me." He nearly growled the words, each a command. He blinked... that wouldn't work.... he couldn't 'make' her be his mate. He sighed in defeat before trying again in a softer tone; "Be my mate Rose." It wasn't a question.... but he would accept a no should it come.

The hairs on Wolf's neck rose on edge as she spoke..... If you want me to be?? Did that mean he was making her? He didn't like that idea... no... he would rather have a willing mate than one he had forced, even if his heart had picked Rose long before his brain had figured that out. She was witty, intelligent, dominate and at times cheeky... all of which drove him completely insane most of the time! But it was also what made her stand out. He backed away from her, sadness lingering in his eyes. "I won't force you Rose." Was all he managed to say as he looked at her. She was injuried... now was not the right time to be doing this and he knew that... why hadn't he listened to his brain like normal?
