Early...? Barth tried to register the word. Was it morning? It couldn't be morning, they had just- when had he...?
Heaven and Hells, Lilith was never going to talk to him again. He stifled the thought. Alright. Okay, she was never going to talk to him again. Why worry about it? She'd been ignoring him the past few months, it wasn't even a change of course, really. Maybe it wasn't even bad. He shouldn't- didn't feel bad now, and all the nervousness and anger and weariness from last night had been replaced, sometime over the very last parts of the evening. He was warm and sleepy and in good company.
The dim October sunlight came in patches through the thorns. Barth half-watched Calder turn over.
"Mm," he agreed vaguely, "don't have classes, do you?"

Calder turned his head to look at Barth at the corner of his eye, narrowing then. "Not ones important enough to move." He turned his head, and to make a point, his back to Barth.

"Good, because I was about to advise skipping," Barth mumbled, shifting closer to Calder, but hesitating at the...hostility? Was it hostility? He touched Calder's shoulder lightly.
"... not upset, are you?"

Calder flicked his tail, which brushed against Barth's leg. "Upset? - Me? Now why would I be upset?" He turned to look at Barth as if he should very well know why he was upset, and that it somehow, if he knew it or not, fell on him.

"....Because I err, I don't...don't quite- what did I do?" He was asking because while he knew he had...drifted off, at some point, he wasn't sure at all what happened after that.
Sometimes he woke up across campus, or with a draft derailed into strange, impossible devices. He was hoping for fell asleep, but he had a sinking feeling the response might be significantly...weirder.

Calder wanted to hit him. Just, hit him, right in that cute, handsome face of his. UGH! Why was he so handsome when he was this angry?!!! He'd hit his groin but, well, even that hurt guys who did it. It was too low, and he didn't want Barth to hate him in return for doing something. No. He wanted to be the only to freely glare at Barth without any reason for Barth to do so in return.
"You slept." Calder said. For someone who knew Barth and had been around him plenty of times, one would know that Barth slept, but Calder was focusing in on Barth. "I get that you slept, but of all the times last night..." Ugh, he wanted to yank his ears off and stab him with them! "...you slept."

"Oh," Barth said, embarrassed but sort of relieved. "Nothing err- nothing else, then? After? Just the- right. Sorry. ...I am sorry, I didn't- it wasn't on purpose, I was just sort of-"

"I knew you could sleep through almost anything, Barth, but ...but REALLY? Do you at least remember any of it or was I the only one making memories here?" He just wanted to know that he remembered SOMETHING.

Calder continued to just look at him. Then, finally, he sighed. "That's going to need fixing......" to which he shifted, and looked away, mumbling. "...next time." Barth was still in the dog house.
Calder scooted closer.

Next time. Next time was good. "I'll make it up to you," Barth said, "just...not after any more dances."
Barth paused, reminded of something.
"What err, what ended up happening to that pumpkin?"

Calder turned his attention about to look at Barth. The promise for consciousness was a start at least.
"The pumpkin?" It took him a moment. "I....left it at your place. For safe keeping. I wasn't sure you were staying with me, and your place is big, warm, and soft. Best place for little scarlings." He smiled. "Oh, we should get it to Cricket." He said, rising up, frowning, and slowly laying back on his stomach. "....in a minute." He really didn't want to leave it alone too long. Wait. Maybe it was long way too long. He wasn't sure how long it now was. "I'll walk you to your place and take it to Cricket." That way he would know for sure it was getting there safe and eventually. Last night, Barth seemed very against the pumpkin.
"....you don't like scarlings all that much, do you?"

"Oh, err, right. Are they supposed to be left alone like that? ...Handsome will watch after it, I suppose?"
The truth was that while Barth had a lot of younger siblings, he knew nothing about taking care of them. They had his stepothers, and the household servants, and none of that involved him.
"They're horrors. Devious little creatures. I rather like them."
Since he wasn't responsible for any, his overall opinion was positive. Barth also liked humans and minipets, but neither was indicative of their well-being under his attentions.

The guilt over leaving the little scarling alone was enough to rouse him, and soon he very slowly sat up. "I don't suppose we should leave it alone as long as it's already been. Pets are not going to be able to give it food." If Barth's minipets were that well trained, Barth would be doing even less than he did now. "It is probably afraid and crying now that I think about it. Still in it's pumpkin. I put it on the couch with pillows all around, but it might try running about." Considering how quick it was for Calder to learn to run, this could be trouble.
He smiled at Barth, liking that he liked scarlings. "I like scarlings too. Their cute, and small, and adorable. I always wanted to hold the ones in the clan, but I wasn't allowed. It would have been nice to have a baby sister or brother." His ears dropped at the thought, and his eyes went distant a moment, before he started to slip out of the covers. "You should get dressed."

Barth inched further under the covers, trying to soak up the retreating heat.
"I'm sure it's fine," He said, now sorry he had said anything in the first place. "Can't be worse than a public restroom."
