[SOLO GAME] A CATastrophe!

Napoleon had been snooping around the compound again. At mid-day the academy was rather quiet, most students and teachers in the middle of lessons. Nap had his goggles on and was feeling rather bold in his solitude. It was a shock when Dr. Flo turned a corner right in front of him. Nap turned around hastily and ran smack into the wall behind him in his attempt to flee.

After being looked over for signs of concussion Nap was deemed fine and asked to help Flo in her search for a missing cat.

A cat? The hell was a cat?

An invisible cat no less. He wouldn't even know what one looked like if he DID catch it! Flo had mentioned it might like his goggles. Nap wasn't too keen on taking them off though. He wasn't too keen on helping the woman out either. He continued on his exploration, hesitantly moving outside into the bright sun. If asked later he would just say he never saw it.

With the cat being invisible and all it was certainly a plausible excuse.

As the evening drew in and the Academy started to liven up Nap returned to his room with no further events to report.

He knew he wouldn't have found that cat, even if he'd tried.

Arthur kicked along the walkway up to Dr. Flo's lab again. Alright, so maybe three times hadn't been the charm.

But what did he need three times for? He was someone who went again the grain of society, someone for whom the mainstream perfection of getting things right after the third time was not applicable. Of course, a little part of him snarked that he would have much rather caught the cat on the first time that it had escaped, but sometimes life was like that. Perhaps to catch the beast, he must become the beast, or some nonsense like that.

As he mulled over the philosophical implications that this might have, he hardly even noticed when Dr. Flo exasperatedly told him the nature of the beast that had escaped this time.

"Fez cat again." Arthur said dryly as his assignment sunk in. Fez cat. This creature had eluded him twice before, once because Arthur himself had been too distracted by its chappeau to realize that it was before him, and then a second time when the felonious feline had made a break for it and left a smashed science classroom in its wake.

Still, Arthur tried to take it in stride, even though it wounded his pride slightly that Dr. Flo didn't think that he was good enough to handle Invisible Cat. "Well, sometimes you have to start small." He said to himself, trying to be encouraging. It wasn't like his parents had kept cats at home, and Arthur didn't have much experience with the outside world. But he'd read about them, damn it, and if books weren't enough to tell him what he needed to know, then something was very wrong with the world.

"Alright," he said, marching off bravely to his fate, "let's do this."

As soon as he turned the corner to the breezeway, Arthur noticed that something was wrong.

All along the sidewalk were regularly spaced, neatly deposited hairballs. Arthur grimaced. Yuck. Occasionally the hairballs contained a small red thread, evidence that they had been born from Fez Cat. Arthur's hands trembled into fists.

No, anger was the usual response to this situation, the response that everyone expected. He calmed himself and remembered that while Fez Cat was elusive, his real query was Invisible Cat. This was just a bump in the road to achieving that goal.

And so, resignedly, Arthur conjured a very small c-a-m-p-f-i-r-e and burnt the hairballs up one by one. Sometimes his manifestation wasn't able to last too long, so he'd have to periodically write out the word again. Occasionally he swept his hand too close to the flame and had to jerk it back quickly so that he wouldn't get burnt. He shook his head, a grim determination setting in.

He would get that cat. One of these days, he would get that cat.

Yet another day at Sidekick Academy has found young Violet at office of Dr.Flo. Smiling brightly Violet engages into a conversation with the Dr, learning that once again the cats have escaped. With her previous record of one caught cat and all of her classes done for the day, Violet decides to help out the woman and goes off in search of the school first.

Armed with the basic description of the illusive Fez cat Violet wanders the halls, noting as she goes a lot of people with accidents. Pursing her lips thoughtfully Violet had to wonder what on Earth had caused these people to get so distracted? Shaking the thought Violet continued down the hall searching every classroom and closet for the Fez cat.

After about thirty minutes the lazy little alien decided to go outside to look, slowly rounding the corner of the academy Violet yawned and stretched out into the sun deciding that she had earned a nap. Setting down on the grass Violet peered out to the water that surrounded the school. After a few moments of admiring the water the girl was out snoozing in the sunshine.

Violet could of probably slept for a few hours if she hadn't been awakened by the brush of something fuzzy across her nose. Peeking her beady blacks open the thistle colored alien saw a stripe of red before sitting up and being almost hypnotized with the fez wearing cat at her feet. Violets lips parted and created an 'o' as she started in awe for a moment before realizing that the mission was literally rubbing against her feet. "..Such a pretty fez cat... " She gushed flattering the Fez whom preened under the attention lifting a paw to actually tip its hat.

Violet clapped wildly like a three year old before cooing, " I bet that the fez cat is the softest cat of all.. " Her tone held room from question though and as if sensing it the Fez strutted up and right into her arms, as if to prove its coat was indeed the most soft and distracting of all. For a moment Violet petted the cat and admired its hat, wondering how said hat stay one before she gently closed are arms around the Fez and grinned, "you certinally are the most easiest to catch silly mr.Fez cat " giggling lazily Violet stood with the cat in hand and trotted back to Dr.Flo.

Sunburst had just gone to get a band-aid for a cut in art class when he saw the forlorn Doctor looking for her evil escaping cats. Didn't she have wanted posters for these things? Straffe nonetheless decided to help her find them, after all, he did not want the devilish cats watching him in the shower. That would be creepy.

Great, apparently she had lost the invisible cat this time, that was going to be harder to find than any of her other critters; not being visible though. However she had explained it liked shiny sparkly objects. For Straffe, that meant... maybe he could find a dark spot and glow, that might attract the cat. And moths, but moths were a risk he was willing to take!

Straffe spent most of the evening standing, bored, in a corridor, waiting for the patter of paws or the sniff of over-curiosity, but nadda. After a few hours he finally got bored and left the invisible cat to its strange machinations; next time, his worthy opponent!

After eluding the Doctor for over a week she'd finally cornered Napoleon once again. Disappointed in his previous failure she asked for his help again. With a detailed description of the feline he was after she left him to his own devices.

Too bad it wasn't the invisible cat this time. Nap's previous excuse wouldn't work this time around. Still...He couldn't help but want to at least see this Fez Cat. Why would a cat wear a hat? He thought he'd heard about something similiar...but couldn't recall for sure. Nap made his way through a hallway lined in classrooms, there were plenty of hiding places there.

Nap paused, crouching low as he saw something red slink into one of the rooms. He followed after it quietly. There, that cat in question was sitting under the teacher's desk, washing it's face, the tassel on it's hat swaying gently with it's movements. Nap stared at the fez...he'd never seen a hat like that. He slunk along the floor, on all fours himself, trying not to alarm the cat as he got a better look at that odd little black hat.

The cat saw him approach but didn't move from it's spot, it's quest for cleanliness more important than some strange pink creature who really was not that stealthy.

Nap climbed on top of the desk hoping to snatch the cat's hat from above, but to his dismay when he looked back down the cat was gone, hat and all.
