Everything seemed to be going well. Many ooo’s and aaah’s were had as the small beams of light zipped through the night sky. Especially when one dazzling meteor appeared. It was bright and large. It was without a doubt the most noticeable object in the sky no matter where you were in Destiny City. It was almost as if that chunk of space rock was headed straight to the city and those who lived there. Likely, of anyone in the globe, the people of Destiny City, especially those in the park, had the best seats in the house.

Except… the light from the meteor seemed to be getting bigger, as if it was hurtling through space at an increasingly alarming rate.

Some people who made wishes would find that they might just have the opportunity to make it come true themselves. Others might curse just how opposite to their wish things were about to get.

Something was about to happen, but it wouldn’t be bad news for the squirrels. If anything, there was going to be a big need for doctors.

OCC: There's nothing to be alarmed of ... yet, though those in the space community may find this particular meteor to be very fascinating or worrisome. You may still join in if you haven't already! I'd highly recommend it...

Iouri glanced up from his telescope, eyes narrowing at the brighter meteor. He'd been wishing, half-heartedly, about space and NASA and all of his usual wishes that he was starting to get too old for. He glanced over at Peter and his fancier telescope.

"Do you see that?" he asked the boy.

Iouri was trying not to worry, hoping that there was a logical explanation or that his eyes were playing tricks on him. There was no reason to raise an alarm, though. Things burned up in the atmosphere all the time - tonight shouldn't be anything else.

Finn was arriving late, having decided to check out the picnic at the park after a quick round of patrol. Now safely back in his civvies, he strode out onto the field, weaving between people on the field with his eyes cast upwards. It was a nice night for stargazing, which was good fortune.

Surely the bright streak was all just part of the meteor shower, right?

Finn nodded reassuringly to himself. It had to be normal.

Helping Iouri set the telescope to the right focus, and then setting up his own telescope took almost no time at all. It was better when they actually knew what they were doing. "I thought you were getting your eyes fixed!" Peter chirped, adjusting the angle of his telescope as people started talking amongst themselves about how the meteor shower was starting. Yeah, it might be starting, but it wouldn't get good until a little bit in... Or at least that's what he expected. They were only seeing the first bunch of rocks streaking across the atmosphere.

Peter shivered a little as he watched, but too intrigued to get a blanket to wrap around himself. He hadn't had the chance to figure out how to get to his own world just yet, but he thought it would suck if something happened to other senshi's home worlds... No, he wasn't all that concerned about meteors, but asteroids could very well crash and be destroyed... Or things could crash into moons or planets and... yeah, that would be horrible.

He glanced up at the older man at the telescopes with him when whisperings of wishes came around. Peter snorted lightly, "Are you going to wish for something?" He thought he was a bit old to wish... but he really did want to be an astronaut one day... One day when senshi weren't needed to protect people from monsters that tried to hurt them.

But he wasn't about to share that with Iouri.

Of course, there wasn't much time for him to worry about wishing or whatever nonsense that would lead to. Instead, there seemed to be some kind of light heading towards them. "Woah... big rock," Peter mumbled in response to Iouri, trying to focus his telescope more clearly on the object. He wasn't too concerned, though. If it had been a threat, they would have surely heard about it on the news.

After all... people are always looking for reasons to blow up space s**t. Or to just freak out about it for no reason.

Babysitting duty wasn't exactly the most thrilling thing to be doing on a Friday night. He could have had other plans, but no! His mother had insisted that he took Peter to see the meteor shower. Thank goodness Paris was willing to go along with them. And make food. And get enough blankets for all of them. Honestly, Chris would have just brought their jackets and probably would have complained the entire time about being cold, had he been there with just his brat brother.

Instead, he was having a perfectly pleasant time, and he moved to sit cross legged on the ground, Annabel gnawing at a bone that was probably too big for her at his feet, while his guitar rested in his lap as Paris fussed a bit about the temperature.

"Move closer then," he suggested, waiting to see if Paris would get situated before lazily strumming a few cords. He didn't want it to be too loud so as to bother people around them, but it gave him something to do. He wasn't particularly interested in the night sky, although he could understand others' fascination with it. Especially since he'd been in space before.

"The hot dogs smell good," he pointed out, although he was only half serious, knowing that Paris would probably fuss even more about eating unhealthy foods. He didn't mind the fussing, though. He'd rather force him to fuss than to get into some kind of argument.

People started talking about wishes, and Chris leaned over to grin at the young man next to him. "Are you going to wish for something? It's close to midnight, anyway. It could very well be a birthday wish." As for himself... Chris closed his eyes and let out a small sigh. He wasn't usually one for wishing, but he figured it was just a fun little thing to do. "I wish for an end to the fighting... Cheesy, right? Who doesn't wish for peace...?" he said under his breath so only Paris would hear.

Kathryn noticed the orange cat jump onto the table. Something about the cat seemed very familiar. Kat narrowed her gaze as she tried to recall this familiarity. It wasn't coming to her. Shrugging her shoulders Kathryn checked over the table again and caught the attempts of Jade trying to shoo the cat away. Kathryn raised her hand to cover a smile. It was a rather amusing sight to take in. The girl tucked away the cash box from her sales as she stepped away from the beverage table. She walked by the food table and shook her head at the feline before she paused.

Kathryn chuckled softly before attempting to scratch the cat's ears. She liked all animals. She gave Jade a knowing look before plucking the cat off the table.

"The table isn't meant for cats."

Kathryn gently deposited the orange cat on the ground before noticing the brightness of a meteor that appeared on the horizon. Her mouth dropped open as she took in its aura of light. The growing intensity had Kat worried. A normal meteor would have burned up by now. Her eyes widened as she realized that this space rock might be something else. Shaking her head Kat took a few steps back before she bumped into the food table. This wasn't looking good.

“Oh, of course Kathryn! Do enjoy yourself.” Regina grinned as she noticed the wondrous celestial event that was happening. She had really never seen anything like it in her entire life, never so close or magnificent. “No better time to do so then now it seems! I doubt that many people are going to be interested in the food and coffee now. It won’t be busy.”

Regina gave a knowing glance to both Kathryn and Jade. It’d probably be a long time before any of them would see anything like this again. It was now or never to take it all in.

Regina was so entranced herself, she barely even noticed the orange cat.

The brunette had to fight off the desire to go take a closer look through a telescope.

Not bothering to hide his disgust over his boyfriend’s teasing remarks about the hotdogs—which he thought was quite possibly one of the most disgusting foods known to man—Paris shifted closer to make himself comfortable against Chris’s side, reaching out to occasionally pet the dog while holding onto her leash so as to prevent her from running off and bothering anyone who may not be as fond of yapping attention and dog slobber.

“Hmmm, I don’t know what else to wish for, except for eighteen to be a happier year than seventeen. Of course, not everything about seventeen was bad,” Paris observed with a smile, lightly nudging Chris with his shoulder, sure that his boyfriend would know which part had been the good part without him having to further elaborate.

He looked up at the night sky with only a vague interest, content to sit close and listen to Chris play his guitar, and perhaps hum or quietly sing along to whatever song his boyfriend was playing. The meteors were pretty, at least, and being so unknowledgeable about any sort of space objects, the rather large one currently concerned him very little. Instead, he took the time to silently wish for a few more things, namely peace and happiness, but also to one day acquire the courage to properly tell Chris how he felt.

“Just think,” he said, “at exactly 11:37 tomorrow night, I’ll finally be legal.”

Paris grinned at Chris and leaned up and over to plant a quick kiss on his cheek. “Not that I really cared all that much before, and twenty-one’s the better birthday, isn’t it? I’ll get another wish tomorrow, won’t I? Which wishes do you think work better?” he joked. “Wishes on shooting stars or wishes on birthday candles?”

He was of the opinion that both were bogus, but since they were out here he might as well play along with all the wishful thinking going around.

Haven came to a stop half-way to the telescopes. She’d just noticed the larger meteor, which actually seemed like it was drawing closer, but that couldn’t be because she hadn’t heard anything about that. She was pretty sure they’d have known beforehand if something was going to crash down to Earth with any sort of a major impact. She was also pretty sure there would have been attempts to blow it up or alter its course before that could happen, given how many movies had been made on that very scenario and how some people tended to freak out about things like that.

No, Haven wasn’t too worried. Maybe amazed, but not worried. After a few moments of staring, she forced herself to be mobile again, continuing on her way toward the telescopes for a better look, but with her head still turned up and her eyes still focused on the sight above her, she ended up bumping into a few people along the way, and forgot to apologize in her distraction.

"My eyes are a work in progress," Iouri laughed to his young protegee, resisting the urge to reach out and ruffle the boy's hair. That would almost certainly be inappropriate, regardless of how fond he may have been of the junior space cadet.

"I always wish to travel in space," he continued, leaning over to peer through his telescope once more, trying to get a better fix on the large rock. There didn't seem to be anything particularly spectacular about it, even upon closer investigation. In all likelihood it would burn up - it was still quite high up.

"It's nothing to worry about," he said informatively to Peter as he straightened up and rubbed his chilled hands together. "All of these meteors are just skimming the earth's atmosphere. Even if this one is quite large, it will burn up."

Again - no reason to raise an alarm.

"Of course it'll burn up! I have plenty of applications on my phone that'll alert me to when big stuff like this is happening... Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis... disaster type stuff," he said with a shrug, knowing that his hobby of keeping up to date could either be considered 'well informed' or 'rather morbid'.

"And it's not like world leaders will let a meteor crash into Earth. Even if it was for population control or whatever, they would still deal with a lot of really sucky press and people would turn against them, war will break out... all that stuff." He was exaggerating, of course... he hoped. Who knew what would happen if the meteor really did come crashing down to earth. He certainly hoped it didn't land anywhere near his neighborhood.

Peter took a step back to get another view of the meteor, having lost it in his line of vision in the telescope, although he ended up bumping into someone (or they bumped into him). "Hey! Watch it! Very expensive telescope here! Jeez, don't you pay atte-- oh, Haven," he said with a grimace, giving the girl from his class (and street) a once-over, before turning back to stare up at the sky. "Jerk..."

Chris glanced over at Paris when he commented about his seventeenth year, although grinning lightly at the nudge he got. Well, he was glad to have made Paris's life just a little less sucky, at the very least. And there was always the coming year to look forward to. Maybe they really would figure out a way to end the fighting going on around them?

His smile faded at a particular comment though, the cord he'd been ready to strum only done half-way. "Legal?" he repeated dumbly, turning to stare at Paris for a few moments, before he felt his face suddenly heat up. Thank goodness it was dark, although he was sure Paris was well aware of his expression, not just through the dull light, but the way his voice cracked nervously. "Oh... legal... right..." s**t... he'd... never actually thought about that before! Not that he thought Paris cared, and he obviously hadn't turned him into the police or something crazy like that! He'd just... well, he was usually too much of a goody-goody to do something, uh, not so model citizen, but... There was only a day left, right?

A nervous laugh escaped after a few moments, and Chris shifted a little awkwardly in place. "Uh... I'm not really sure," he admitted, just as dumbly as his other comments. Wow, he was feeling vastly unintelligent at the moment.

There were plenty of worse things, right??

Connor was ridiculously late to the party. He actually hadn't planned on showing up at all. He was out for a stroll because his apartment was getting a little stuffy, and the park was close to his home.

He was a bit amazed by all the people gathered, and asked a few strangers what was going on. They responded something about a meteor shower. Well that was neat.

So he found himself a spot on the grass and looked up at the stars. Weren't you supposed to make a wish on these things.

I wish ... to reach level 80 by the end of this week. Pretty please. Kay thanks star.

Connor: keepin' it classy.

Well, didn't that look a bigger and brighter than the other meteors? Watching what seemed to be the star of the show Alexandre for a moment couldn't help that odd wondering if it would actually crash land somewhere here, on Earth. It wasn't something too far reaching he thought, reminding himself of all the other seemingly impossible things which had happened in the last few months. By comparison the idea of a meteor striking didn't seem so far fetched, seemed like it should be common place almost.

Casting those thoughts aside he snuggled in to watch and see what would happen. He didn't want to really get up, even with food and drinks not far off, but after watching and Lily not having appeared yet he finally decided to get something to eat. Tossing aside his protective covering he stood and picking up, while at the same time wrapping up, Cadha Alexandre made his way toward the tables set up and the food.

"I wonder when Lily and Eamon will get here. They were only in the parking lot." Said to the little black head poking out from the blanket wrapped about the pup in his arms. Really the thought of anything crashing into Earth, especially anything crashing anywhere near Destiny City, was pushed right out of his mind. With everyone that had happened already, and in only a few short months, he figured that might just be something small, or at least manageable. Maybe it was arrogance which gave birth to the opinion but either way he wasn't all that concerned, even as he glanced up at the sky again.

While Paris couldn’t see the color in Chris’s face in the dark as easily as he could have with more light, he was still well aware of its presence. Chris was a bit of a predictable guy anyway—Momma’s boy, goody-two-shoes, model citizen and all that.

“Honestly, Christopher, it’s no big deal,” he said and nudged his boyfriend again.

Paris made himself more comfortable against Chris’s side with his head on Chris’s shoulder, letting out a quiet sigh as he turned his attention back up to the meteors currently streaking across the sky. He let himself think for a little while about his life as a senshi and the war he very much wanted to end, but did his utmost not to let such things ruin his mood. It was a nice night—albeit somewhat chilly—and so long as he was with Chris he thought he didn’t have much of a reason to worry about anything else.

Life was certainly a lot easier than it used to be.

“We’re going out for dinner tomorrow night, with my mom and yours,” Paris continued, turning his head enough to be able to look up at his boyfriend again, while still trying to keep it in its comfortable spot on Chris’s shoulder. “I guess Peter’ll have to come, too, but that’s okay with me.”

Unlike Chris, Paris didn’t mind the company of the obnoxious little brat. He still intended to keep an eye on him, seeing as Peter had so recently become a senshi. If anything bad ever happened to him, Paris knew he’d never be able to face any of the Gallos ever again.

Suddenly one of the people she accidentally bumped into spoke up to tell her off, and Haven paused at the sound of the familiar and incredibly obnoxious voice of the bane of her existence. She stopped to look down her nose at Peter Gallo—which was actually really easy to do since he was two and a half inches shorter than she was, a delightful fact she would never, ever let him live down.

“Dummy. You were standing in the way,” she shot back, and then stuck her tongue out and made faces at him when he turned his back on her.

She told herself this wasn’t immature at all.

After she was done with that, Haven looked from Peter to the adult with him and noticed that it wasn’t either Peter’s parents or his brothers, but someone she didn’t recognize. She could only assume that Peter had done something stupid to get himself into trouble with one of the adults running this thing, or this was his new babysitter.

“Hi, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Haven Sinclair and Peter is not my friend,” she politely introduced herself. “I wanted to use one of the telescopes to look at the meteors better.”

Eliza was really excited for this night, to see the meteors like star practically dancing across the sky. It was of course nothing like lying on the path up on the surrounding, but still it was dazzling. Of course when someone mentioned making a wish she was on it, now knowing magic was possible, she and her childish heart whole heartedly believed her wish would come true. She wished our course that those fighting in there war she had become involved in would settle their differences and live in peace.

She smiled as the show went on, shooting up excitedly onto her feet at the one meteor in particular that seemed to be falling right for earth. "Wow," she shouted not at all thinking how bad the meteor could potientally be for her and the others. No she was just excited to see something so amazing, pointing with a huge grin on her face.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lily loved music and so despite the fact that she was suppose to be getting to Alex instead she was singing to the radio, a new favorite of hers turned up. Eamon howled right along with her and she couldnt keep the words straight for her giggled as she look back to her dog. When the song ended she quickly shut off the radio to avoid further distraction.

"You a ham, you know that Eamon," she giggled," wouldnt trade you though."

She was in the parking lot to see the meteors began to fall and she made a wish for peace before going to get Eamon out of the car which she was thankful was not a fight.

She was so focused on finding Alex that she didn't really pay much heed to the sky lighting up as a meteor came hurling towards earth, but excited shout got her to look up. Of course she frowned, her only though being what now and worrying because she brought Eamon out and Alex was there with the puppy Cadha.

Shaking her head she turned her attention back to Eamon who was now dragging her his tail wagging and what did she see but Alex and Cadha. "Oh good," she said with a grin before waving. "Alex I finally made it," she shouted.

Turning from where he was he spied Lily, finally! The little pup in his arms gave a wiggle and something between a yip and a bark. "I think he's missed you." He said, after waiting for Lily and Eamon to reach them. He didn't want to shout, and potentially be shouted back at by people.

"Wasn't expecting anyone to show up, aside from us and the club hosting it. It would seem I was wrong in my opinion." That said as he turned back to look over what food was on the table, pondering just what he was in the mood for.

"You were in the parking lot for a while, Eamon keep you there?" He asked, unsure if that was the case. He wouldn't have figured it the radio keeping Lily's attention from the reason they were here. Not that it mattered really, didn't bother him either way. He'd just wondered, no worry involved. "Grab something to eat and I'll lead you to where me and Cadha settled down to watch this show."

Lily grinned at the puppy giving the wiggling little guy a quick pet. "I think Eamon missed you to," she said looking down to her dog who happily sniffed at Alex.

She looked around at Alex's words and smiled noticing a few familiar faces making a note to say hello later. "I see," she said with a smile, "quite a turn out, but I'm not surprised Destiny City's not much for being cooped up huh?" She gave a laugh.

The laugh become a nervous giggle, that clearly told Alex the explanation would be a silly one. "Actually," she started, "I was singing in the car and Eamon decided to join in and I just couldn't shut it off. I laughed myself silly. I guess technically he sort of had a hand and keeping me there, but mostly it was that song. Oh I love it."

Alex would know of course, she had been singing it all week. She looked at the food, but shook her head. "I'm not really hungry, so finish getting what you want and lead the way."

She looked around again before turning back to Alex, "remind me to say hi to my friends before we leave, a couple of them are here."

Iouri was happy to now have two youngsters to share the wonders of the cosmos with, even if they did seem a bit snappy with each other. "No need to get tetchy!" the scientist exclaimed, stepping in between the two children. "Iouri Spekter, of the Destiny City Earth and Space museum," he introduced himself, extending a polite hand to Haven before waving her over to his telescope. Unlike Peter, he'd come to this event with every intention of sharing.

"Now," explained Iouri as he showed the girl how to work the focus. "Do you see this ring around the eyepiece? You look into the lens, and then you twist it gently until everything is focused just right for your eyes."

He left her to it and looked back at Peter. "You," he decided, "Have seen entirely too many SyFy original movies." Disaster-monging tended to be that channel's prerogative, from his understanding. Iouri didn't consider it a worthy cause. "There's nothing to worry about."

He glanced upwards once more, confirming the meteor was still present in the night sky. This was an awfully long time for it to burn, he reflected. Still, no point in causing a panic. Iouri turned back to Haven, trying to make her feel welcome despite Peter's apparent dislike for her.

"Have you made a wish yet?" he asked the girl.
