Jordan shot a look at Jerry; he'd been busy enough with the files that he'd only peripherally noted when Candace came in, but the nervous babbling got his attention. Mental note, track Jerry down later. Pretending he didn't know what was going on when Jerry was so obviously hurting made his stomach twist.

"Hey Bix," he said, and took a moment to hand over the rest of the files he'd already read. "Creature data," he explained succinctly. "Looks like we're going to the North Pole."

"Probably," he said to Jerry. "But keep in mind why we're here - we're the ranking trainees for this mission, so I assume we'll be supervising instead of just charging in. Fun as that might be," he added, a trace of wistful humor in his voice. "We're getting the details so we have a more complete idea of the situation. That'll let us coordinate between ourselves and with whatever other Suns are going along. At least, that would be my guess," he said, looking up at Aria as he remembered the last mission he'd been on under her supervision. Don't assume; ask for instruction or help when you can.

He can learn! It's a miracle!

Shut up, Ferros.

"Er, yes! Yes, of course!" Jerry eagerly took a hold of the conversation and charged forward with enthusiasm, "I haven't met too many of the new Suns... just er... just one," He coughed, "Close range weapon. We'll have to meet everyone and see what they're armed with before we come up with a proper battle plan, right?"

"Ofelia?" Jordan asked Jerry, handing Bix the last of the files to take a look at. "Or is it someone else? We'll have a better idea of what we have to work with once we see who's with us, yeah."
PostPosted: Thu Feb 16, 2012 12:31 pm

"I met Ofelia." Bix nodded. "She's pretty nice. Hope she candle those knucks. You have to get in pretty close." Of course as a long range fighter he preferred being far away.

Bix looked over each piece of paper was it was passed to him and idly played with his braid.

With the arrival of Bix, Before, and Ariane, Aria's shoulders eased. "Excellent, we're all here," She began smoothly, standing up. The division leader turned and pulled down a map hanging from the wall. It was a larger version of the map the Mists received. "As you may be aware, our duty as hunters is to safeguard the human race from creatures that seek to harm and destroy it. To this end, we have our island called Deus Ex. However, if there was to, say, be a large scale attack in South America..." She shrugged, the sleeve of the hunter coat she was wearing sliding off of her shoulder. "We most assuredly wouldn't make it in time, or we would be late. Therefore, we have bases scattered around the world. During your training, you may or may not be stationed at one of these such bases."

Aria tugged the coat back into place. It seemed to be too large for her, and there seemed to be something... off about it. Those who met her before would realize that Aria wasn't wearing her usual hunter coat. "This is Station 771, located in the North Pole. A squad of hunters were stationed there to monitor Christmas activity to see if there is a correlation of activity with the holiday season in that area. Our last communication with them was at oh-400 hours three days ago."

She pulled another map down, this time it appeared to be similar to the map in the file Marcus received. "This is a map of the base. It is heavily warded, however in the last transmission it can be assumed that it has been damaged here," she pointed, "Here, here, and here. It is presumed that whatever attacked the base was able to get in. According to the last report we received, it does not appear that creatures from Christmas are the ones to blame for this attack."

Aria's gaze swept across the assembled hunters. "It will be your mission to lead a squad of untrained and untested Hunters here to examine the area. We have lost all communication with the base, however we are still receiving a transmission. The area, to our knowledge, is clear. Since the base has been compromised, you will be sent in to retrieve data and to figure out exactly what happened."

"There will be five squads, each lead by a leader and assistant. Each squad will have a different priority.

  • Death squad, you will focus on recovering data.
  • Life squad, you will focus on recovering our machines. You will also seek out and determined whether the hunters who were stationed there still live and provide assistance if they do.
  • Moon squad, you will repair the base as best as you can to create a defense. We do not know if the creatures are still there, and it would be best to create a perimeter to ensure the survival of all parties.
  • Sun squad, you will assist the Moon squad with defense. If you see a threat, it is your duty to ensure that it is reduced to a minor inconvenience. Your duty is to destroy any threat.
  • Mist squad, you will provide assistance for the other squads in addition to figuring out what exactly went wrong.

As the Moon and Sun Life squads lack numbers, I am going to request that someone step up and assist them in their duties." A meaningful glance was thrown towards the three Mist members, hint hint. This glance was also given to the Suns and Deaths, the other two squads that currently boasted three members. "It will be up to each of you to determine who is the leader and who will assist."

"Depending on the sizes of the squads, there may be one group with two assistants. The size of the squads you lead will depend on how many hunters have been assigned to what division, and whether or not those hunters have found their weapon."

Aria gestured to them. "Figure out who's going to lead and who will assist. If you have any questions, ask them now. The trainees will also receive a debriefing, and you will be able to meet and organize your squad at that point."

[edit]
(( Derp, fixed a typo. Moon and Life need an assist, not Sun. |D ))

As soon as the file was handed off to him and Marcus muttered a simple thank you, he was nose deep in it. Blueprints, notes, it seemed like part of the structure had taken a beating at some point and would need some fast repairs. The idea of working in the north pole was kind of interesting, but it would severely limit the building materials and time it would take to have everything in the best of conditions. Unless they had some special runic machine to assist, Marcus wasn't sure how the process would go if that is what he and the other moon trainees would be called in for.

The news Aria gave however- Damn. He sighed, Dis trying to assure him that hey, it wasn't like the desert. No dead bodies to pick up and drag around. Marcus didn't buy that, to his knowledge, this just might be another mental scar on his mind. Still, better frozen than decaying. He did have some questions, mainly about materials and any lingering security measures. His previous thoughts surfacing.

Raising his hand he hoped to get Aria's attention. "Moon squad will be repairing the damages, but using what materials? Just the same, many materials I know of require dry, warm environments to properly set. Will we being using what is already on the base or bringing what we can, and on the same note, what of any possible lingering security devices? Any traps, barriers, runes implemented that we should be aware of?" He looked back at the file he'd been given. "Also, will the portal be secured in the base or nearby? Being the northpole as well, aside from clothing what would you suggest we bring? Approximately how long will this mission last before we're to report our finding back? If we do encounter anything we cannot handle, what course of action would you have us take?"If we encountered something like we did at the house, what the ******** did they do? "Sorry if that was... too many questions."

Jerry shifted in his seat, about to answer his friends before Aria began speaking. As much as he would have liked to take the lead, he had already proven himself to be... rather foolish in a position of power like that.

The guitar was broken anyway.

He cleared his throat, glancing from Jordan to Bix respectively. Both were competent, although as much as he liked Bix, he trusted Jordan's leadership the most. It would be up to them, though, he would just... make the decision a little easier. "I... I'm fine assisting either of you," He offered quietly. "Just tell me where to shoot, ahahaha."

Stationed far away from Deus for however long the mission would last sounded great... except that a certain woman was in that room being sent off as well. He sank in his chair. He'd be a lot more enthused about the whole thing if it meant he was leaving her behind.

No matter, no matter. He'd make the best of it, like he always did.

"You're both older than me, so I'll let you guys pick who is leading and who is assisting." Cass said, looking to Before and Candace with a nod. If she chose, she'd go and assist for Marcus, but still..... she wanted to leave the options out there for them to decide.

Cass would go with whatever flow was out there, but she wanted to make sure everybody was on board for it, seeming interested in what it was that Aria had been telling them about the other bases. So there were chances they were going to be tossed out to other bases in the future, huh?

That....

She looked to Marcus and actually seemed to frown a bit at the idea that someday they'd be tossed to completely different locations. That....made her really sad. Never the less, she was content for the moment with whatever the situation would turn out to be, racking her brain to see if she could think of any questions that came to her. She needed to at least ask something intelligent given she didn't want to suddenly need it out in the open later.

Jerry didn't want the leadership position, but neither had he expressed a preference; Jordan looked to Bix. Tact would be key here. Though Bix didn't seem to be the type to take offense over things, it still wouldn't be good to offend him. "I wouldn't mind taking the lead," he said neutrally. "Do you have a strong preference?"

Candace wasn't surprised to hear of the stations outside of the island's. If they had to protect all of humanity it did not make sense for them to only be on the island of Deus Ex. Candace was very curious what these places were like, however. Would she get stationed at one someday? A glance was cast toward Jerry while on that train of thought; Jerry probably wished he could be sent to one of those stations right now, huh? Ugh. What had she done? Candace suddenly shook her head, rubbing her lips and forcing those thoughts away to focus on Aria and what she was telling them. It was important.

It was then that Candace noticed Aria's coat. Wait..wait that was not Aria's coat. A swell of giggly giddiness suddenly had her nudging Cass gently with her elbow and leaning in close to whisper to the younger girl. "What a familiar coat~." A familiar coat that did not belong to Aria. She was grinning as she leaned away again, sitting with her head in her hands now. Oh, Aria~. That's so cute! oh-400 hours? Four in the morning?! What happened after that?! She looked down at the map the Mist trainees had been given with a frown, looking up again as yet another map was revealed. It was so strange to link Christmas with an attack even after everything that had happened.

...Sun. Candace's heart pounded anxiously at the idea of being on a mission with Jerry for once. No, she..she had to give him his space. If she followed him around he would never even consider taking her back. But the look Aria gave them was not one she could ignore. ********. She was going to want them to help Sun and Moon. Cass would probably want to help out Moon, huh? What with Marcus and all...

"I'll lead." Candace spoke up quietly to Cass and Before. "I've done it on a smaller scale," A much smaller scale being two other trainees. "And one or both of you can assist. Did you want to help Moon, Cass? And life, Before?" She wanted to help Sun. She wanted to so badly. It would be okay, Candace. Just focus on the mission. Shove personal problem aside for it..just...don't think about ********, this is hard with him in the same room. Candace nearly whined, rubbing at her temples a moment before sitting up and sighing. It'd be okay, Candace.

"I probably shouldn't help Moon..." Cass admitted sheepishly, scratching the back of her neck and giving Marcus another look. "I...can't exactly compartmentalize...." meaning she'd try to jump Marcus the second he did something she found the remotest bit attractive and then the mission would be completely ********. At least she had the head to say 'Probably not the best'.

"I mean, if Marcus wants me, I'll help, but......"
PostPosted: Thu Feb 16, 2012 6:44 pm

Marcus looked up from the files, realizing he was being talked about. Well. This put him in an awkward position. One one hand, it was Cass, on the other- It was Cass. Their last external mission had pretty much confirmed the fact that they both of them would become distracted hormonal teenagers at the first chance they got, not to mention they were prone to idiot things while around each other. Cass was of the same mind as him thankfully, they knew their own abilities, which was safe to say- none when it came to each other.
"Cassandra won't be assisting the moon division trainees if I am to be leading them. We're too emotionally involved and inexperienced to risk a mission over our personal feelings for each other." He gave a sad look at her. He wished they could, but the reality was pretty clear cut.

"If possible, I'd prefer someone from the death division, so they can recover any evidence of what occurred at the broken defense points before and while we do repair work, to prevent possible contamination." He spoke this absentmindedly, going back to flipping through the diagrams, using the camera on the phone to take a few snap shots of the small details.

Gale listened attentively to Aria, but his eyes were simultaneously still scanning the papers in the file, his lips pressed together in concentration. Glancing up at the Mist Hunter leader, he frowned a bit, and put the file back onto the table, casting a look at both Ariane and Maddie.

"What do you guys think?" he asked. "Any of you want to help out the Moon Division, or have a preference on who should lead?"

Jerry glanced across the room to Candace, but his eyes immediately darted away again. This was a bad idea. His stomach was clenching, his mouth was dry.

Unfortunately, both of his flasks were currently locked away in his room. No help here. Dammit. "Y'know. Um. You know. Um." He fidgeted again, his face positively green. Could he really concentrate on the mission when she was *right there*? What if he had to work with her?

He'd ******** something up and shoot someone, more than likely.

This was a bad idea. He thought a mission would distract him. Apparently it only aggravated matters. "Hey. Um. Hey- OH LOOK AT THAT," He glanced down at his ominously-quiet-and-unlit cellphone, "I uh... just... j-just got a text I should probably er. Investigate. Um. You guys. You guys don't... don't wait up for me um." He shuffled the paperwork back into their file before rising to his feet. "I'll um. I should um. Go check this out." He couldn't do this.

You bloody coward, Roar groaned. He had just been relieved about the mission. It would have given Jerry something productive to shoot at. Alas. It probably was a good idea for the guy to get some air before anyone depended their life on him.

Oh. Oh, man... Madison turned her head just a little to peer at the Life group, at the familiar tree-branch sigil and Robert's reassuring bulk. Well, reassuring in some ways, at least. But... "I kinda would rather help one of you guys doing Death stuff. I'm new to the division and all, so... gotta learn the ropes before you can help others with them, right?"
