Padmasambhava's chain clinked softy as she walked. Her father Scythe was the one who had given her the beautiful jeweled collar. Maybe to the humans it was a device meant for confinement, but not to Padma. She had never thought about it much but now wore it with with great love and sadness. It was her one souvenir of her father to remember him by. She already looked so much like her mother. She didn't need any other symbol for Vara other than the lotuses on her feet or the gold and red in her mane.
"Hey, Aether..." she said quietly and coming up alongside him. She almost asked how he was doing but then stopped herself. That wasn't a question to ask anyone today. "Lots of people are here today, huh? So many people..." Her voice faltered and she blinked back tears from her eyes. "So many people loved mom and dad."
She hadn't escaped unscathed from the fight. She was fighting a feline stallion and had been wounded when he dug his teeth into her shoulder. The injury was mostly healed but still covered with a paste of medicinal herbs applied there by Shrivatsa. She could have easily been beside her parents on that pyre. It chilled her to contemplate.

Mel listened to Keely's words, not moving to answer her questions right away. No, he would never be okay. He would forever wonder what he could have done differently in his life to have been closer to those who had passed. Yet, he already knew it was just one decision. Joining their herd. He didn't want to follow rules, or feel like he had to be confined. In exchange for his own freedom, he'd lost valuable time he would now give his life for to have again.
"I only see my sister. But I won't disturb her at the moment." He watched his dear sister crying, being comforted by one who must be her mate... if he wasn't then he was much to close to his sister at the moment. Inwardly he smiled, always teasing his Tuli about being around males, and making sure she stayed far away from them. But the smile didn't reach his exterior, and he still had the outward expression of sorrow.
It only softened a bit when Karma was in front of him. His brother. Essentially his twin brother if not for minor differences. A brother who had lost so much more than he, which was hard to imagine at the moment. "Karma.. I'm sorry. For everything." If only he could explain how much truth there was in being sorry for 'everything'. There was so much to say. To ask for forgiveness he didn't deserve for being gone. To try to offer comfort his brother probably wouldn't want. There was so much, and yet he couldn't spit it all out. "I shouldn't have taken that out on you.. I.. I guess I just didn't know what else to do." He hung his head in shame. "I still don't know what to do..." he whispered, more to himself than anything.
Kahili turned her head to look at the newcomer speaking to them. She had a vague memory of meeting him, a long time ago. She'd only been a young foal when she had met her aunt and uncle. Her uncle hadn't just lost his parents. She heard he'd also lost a son and granddaughter. The two she hadn't know, let alone even known existed. Not knowing what else to do, she stepped forward, away from the protective shield of her mate, to give a small nuzzle to her uncle's cheek. "I'm sorry too."

The smell of the smoke flowing into the air is what alerted Orpheus to the soquili nearby. He wasn't sure what caused him to wander closer, but it didn't really matter. What met his sight as he watched through the trees and into the clearing made his eyes widen. The smell of death was definitely in the air, not extremely so but it was still there. The sounds of the cackling fires nearby and some crying met his ears and his eyes softened; this must have been a funeral. As his gaze wandered around the many soquili at the gathering he noticed that some were still injured, others not as much physically but the feeling of somberness and sadness filled his mind. Orpheus had heard of the battle, but he didn't realize he was so close. He couldn't do much in emotional healing, but he could offer his help in physical healing if it was wanted.
Steeling his nerves he quietly made his way out into the open and towards the large golden stallion. Orpheus could only guess if this was the correct soquili to talk to but if his presence wasn't a problem he was certain this soquili could point him in the right direction if he was incorrect. Hopefully not cause that would be embarrassing but it didn't matter at this point. He was too close to the stallion to not be noticed.
"Umm," he began quietly in addressing the larger stallion before him, "are you the protector of the herd?"

Malis lead the small convoy who showed up for the grave meeting. She was closely followed by Imogen and Dayunsi, both carrying baskets of fragrant herbs and flowers. The troll elder walked carefully through the growing throng of people intending to show her respects. Stopping before Shrivatsa she made a low bow, how she knew the mare was the new leader after only arriving, only the spirits knew but the large elder's smile was warm even though her eyes spoke more than just regret. "Ah be sure t' bless their souls wit' a speedy journey to t' realm of t' spirits." She raised her head, towering over the younger mare, "An' t' give ya aid fer ya herd still in this one." With a nod over to the burning pyre she heaved a long sigh. "Ah not be seein' them often but they be a piller o' strength and pure spirits be true. Yaself an' mah family, we be related through t' family ties. That be makin' ya mah sister an' ah be promisin' ya help an' strength if t' need shall rise. Mah only wish be that ah could be arrivin' sooner but..." her expression hardened for a moment, "Ya not be t' only ones who be declarin' war on t' walkers." After shaking her head once the troll regarded the mare before her. "Ya be strong o' spirit just like ya family. Ah be proud t' call ya mah sister." With that she turned away after nodding respectfully to pay her respects to the fire itself leaving Immi and Day to add their own thoughts. Immi lead the pair closer, leaving her basket full of fragrant flowers by her feet before giving a polite curtsey. "I am truly sorry for your loss. I knew Vara from our times in the glades many years ago, though the duties of the herd have kept me away in recent times. She was always one who was kind and friendly, one to give good advice when needed." The mare smiles sadly at Shrivatsa. "Though we may never see them again, they always have a way of staying close by in spirit." She nudged the basket with her foot before nodding towards Dayunsi who also laid his basket down next to it. "We bring a gift of herbs and flowers, some of which are hard to find. The herbs are for healing to re-stock your supplies, you are welcome to send messangers for more if you have need. The flowers are in memory of those who have departed and to brighten the spirits of those who remain. Please accept this token and the condolences of the WillowGlen herd."The small flutter bowed in agreement to what Immi spoke of, a little spooked which having traveled so far away from home but had been determined to follow Immi in support for both herself and the Padmapani herd. "I am the one who grew these herbs, if you wish to know the properties of any unfamiliar herbs, please do not hesitate to ask. I wish to help..." He trailed off, not quite sure what else to say, usually deferring to Immi as she was the more eloquent and personable of the two. He shuddered a little as he though of the trials they had just been through, knowing the fear of being attacked. Day added quickly, "In any way that I am able." before bowing and taking a step or two behind his larger mate.

Misaki smiled as she saw her mate and family making their way through the ground. She waited for Arathorn to get closer before speaking, "I'm so glad you made it back safely," she nuzzled Arathorn's neck before looking up to her son, "You've been gone far too long Adahy." she gently brushed some stray strands of his mane from his face. She turned back to Arathorn, "They've just begun, you haven't missed much. There are so many here, they have touched many lives..." her voice trailed off as she moved in closer to her mate. She wanted to be as near to him as possible."
Tuli stood at the side of her mate, her tears still falling without any sign of slowing. Across the crowd, she saw her brothers, she whispered to Haishan, "They're here..." she nodded towards her brothers. "We need to go say hello," she slowly began to weave her way through the crowd towards her brothers. It had been some time since she had seen either of them. She wasn't sure what she would say to Karma, his loss had been greater than anyone's.

Maion didn't say anything as his daughter tried to reassure him.... instead he let his eyes move towards Auva and then Sonnet. Closing his eyes for a moment he did his best to push back the pain his heart felt for both his mate and her herd, the pain he felt for himself, and did his best to be brave for those that needed him. He knew better than most there was little pointing in wishing things had changed, in wishing that you had done something different or somehow managed to change something. It didn't help matters. Nothing changed. You simply felt worst about it all.
It should be thankful, he supposed, at least his granddaughter had not lost her life.... something he would never have forgiven. It did also mean that he would be far more vigulant with them, not allowing them to wander as freely without someone with them... something he was sure their father would agree with; if not suggest himself.
Unable to stand it Maion turned and made his way out of the group to stand back. He would watch and wait, escort his family home..... he just needed to breath. Just a little.
Chandra looked at Sonnet, a sadness filled her.... he was so mad at her, though nothing he could do would compare to how she was beating herself up. Her grandmother had wanted to spend time with Auva... something that Chandra had never felt bad about, Auva was like her own mother had been... silent... though they didn't know if Auva would stay that way or would one day find her voice. It had triggered a memory in Vara, Chandra had seen it in her eyes..... of course Chandra hadn't known about their 'last trip'... had she.... she would never have left Auva alone! If only she had been there! She could have helped Auva, took the blow for her, protected her like a mother should.
She felt her father move from her.... and then felt Auva move too as she limped towards Sonnet. Everyone was leaving her. Was that a prediction for the future? A future that her foolishness had brought forth? She hoped not. Tears started to roll down her eyes.... not for the loss of the dead... but for far more selfish reasons. Chandra feared she would forever be blamed and tarnished by the events that had occured due to her carelessness.
But how... did she make things right? Her eyes wandered to Heze, and then Zaniah as she noticed their third daughter returning to them. She turned to see Sonnet's father and bowed her head in thanks to him for looking after Zaniah. Even as her heart broke and fragmenets she tried to keep the world from seeing..... things would change, she knew that.... she would change.....
Auva watched her mother for a moment, and saw a sadness in her eyes as she looked at her father. Worried it was because he was sad she left the safety and warmth of her mother to limp towards him. It wasn't a far distance, but with her sore leg it seemed to take her a while. Or maybe that was just her imagination. Eventually she made it to his side, and without 'asking' for permission she burried her head under his wings and nosed his side playfully. Her version of 'cheer up' or 'I am ok'. She didn't like seeing anyone sad, and being surrounded by so many sad people made her feel sick inside.... she couldn't help them all, she didn't even know them all, but she hoped she could help Daddy.
Then a thought occured to her... was he sad because of those that had died? She knew that two were her great-grandparents.... she had liked them. She scowled as she pushed herself under his wings and turned so that she was stood side by side with him. She peeked out to look at her sister, she was between both their parents... looking.... well, Auva wasn't sure how to describe the look on Heze's face. In an effort to cheer her up too she stomped one of her good front hooves into the ground, causing a gentle 'tap' that she hoped would be enough to catch Heze's attention. She wanted her to hide with her. Like they had when they had been smaller.
Haishan Fai nodded to his mate, and followed, willing to greet anyone she wanted... though he doubted he would use words. A nod here, a soft smile of solice there.... what could anyone say? There were no words that could simply make everything better, to restart the clock to a time when none of this had happened. And although he wished with all his heart and sould that he could turn back the clock so that he didn't have to see the sadness in Tuli's eyes that seeped from her heart.... he knew he couldn't. And so, he would be there for her. Forever and always.
Drashi continued to feel 'out of place'.... but he did his job, not saying a bad word about anything, or looking at anyone in a way that could be considered as 'wrong'. He certainly didn't want to upset anyone anymore than they already where.
His eyes continued to scan the group. He nodded to Eden when he spotted her, she had helped rein Crown in a little, and although he was certainly more focused than he had been just a short time ago, Drashi couldn't help but continue to believe that something wasn't right. So much drama. He didn't do well with drama. Stability was the one thing that Drashi craved above all things.
After scanning the crowd he noticed that his father had retreated from the group... unlike him. He was usually the pillar that others leaned on. Unable to leave him alone Drashi walked towards Maion, not saying a single word as he simply stood beside him. A silent way of saying -- 'I will always be here for you.'
Stood beside his father he gained a new perspective of the herd... and one figure in particular caught his attention. A mare... of bright yellow, with strange markings that faded to black at her hooves, and with a head of brown hair. She seemed.... off. And not just because she was 'mourning'... there seemed to be more to her expression... but Drashi couldn't place it.
After a while, Crown found himself with an urge to move again. He simply couldn't seem to stand still. His mind was racing with thoughts that, to be frank, where not fit for the situation. Still he couldn't stop them. Spying his sister standing back from the larger group he wandered towards her.
"Eden." He said, looking around for Orion, before realising that he would never come here... and that although Crown had truely accepted him he knew others wouldn't accept his mixed heritage... especially not here, not today. Straightening up and looking at her he grinned, before catching himself and returning to a more somber and serious expression; "You ok?"

Amitel looked around for Caoimhe, he knew that she would be here.... but still the anticipation at seeing her again had been the only reason he had come.
For a creature that could tell whenever ANYONE lied he hated funerals. So many lies were told. Sure, they were not malicious, quite the opposite, they were designed to reassure and help those feeling extreme pain to gain a glimpse of hope. Of course, that also meant that Amitiel couldn't actually say much to anyone. Other than 'I am sorry for your loss', but how many times could he say that before it got old? He couldn't lie, but on days like this... he wanted to.
Sadness clung within him as he thought of the loss of four innocent creatures, creature who did not deserve the deaths they recieved in his eyes. And even as bile rose in his mouth from all the lies being spoken around him he didn't comment, didn't acuse anyone of lying... sometimes lies were needed, he understood that more than most, and today... he would let them have their lies, he only hoped they would bring them comfort.
Finally his eyes saw the white and purple form of his mate, and the smile upon his face couldn't be hidden. He made his way through the crowd towards her, she was so small incomparison to everyone, so fragile looking -even if he did know she could handle herself, his protective instinct flared. What would he have done had it been her lying dead? He would have broken inside and joined her..... "Caoimhe, where have you been?" He asked as he nuzzled her neck. Now that they had gotten to know each other, she was the only one he would never accept lies from.... to even think that she would made him shatter inside. If she had cause to lie to him.... then clearly he was doing something wrong, and Amitel prayed that that day never came.

Caoimhe beamed, which was most likely inappropriate here, but...well she had missed him... The white alicorn mare snuggled under her mate's wings with a content sigh. "I've been learning things. Trying to become better at healing. So...so if something like this... Oh Amitiel! I couldn't bear to lose you... I'd die too...." She spoke these truths in a harsh whisper so as not to draw attention or disrupt the funeral. Her wings drooped and her head was bowed as she poured out her fears in a soft voice, "Terra....She hates me.... I need to be stronger.... I don't want to lose you because I wasn't properly prepared, either combat-wise or healing-wise. I don't want you to regret having me as your mate because I'm some weakling that always has to be protected. I don't want to always be the damsel in distress or the princess needing her knight in shining armor to come to her aid... I want to be the one fighting by your side... Someone you'd be proud to have beside you in a fight." This funeral and these deaths had worsened her fear and doubt. She didn't want to be left behind because she couldn't pull her own weight. She wanted to show that while fragile, she didn't need constant vigilance to be kept from harm and that she could defend herself to some degree.

Amitel smiled as she spoke in hushed whispers, her words pretty much echoed exactly what he had been thinking. And although he couldn't say that he would 'always' be with her, after all he would one day die, and he wanted her to have her freedom too.... which made 'always' a lie..... he did feel in his heart that as long as she wanted him with her he would be there. No questions asked, no excuses given.
"Shhhhh....." He soothed, rubbing her side with his great Angeni wings in an effort to calm her. Part of him hated that she wanted to fight, to the point that he wanted to scream, but he also knew he would never stop her from doing what she wanted. Yet, unlike most he couldn't lie to her and tell her simply what she wanted to hear. "We will stand together Caoimhe," He whispered to her, "in all things like this," he had to add the 'like this' since officially he couldn't always stand with her... she wasn't always with him.... "You are not weak, and never have been." No, her spirit was the strongest he had ever witnessed; "And it is ok to rely on me you know?" He nipped her ear, "In fact.... I may get a complex if you never do." He smiled down at her. So proud of his little flower, but worried she would one day have her petals bruised or worst, destroyed.

Caoimhe stilled as her mate's wings brushed against her. Did he really think she didn't need him? Of course she did! He was the reason she wanted to learn how to fight. For him and their future children's sake. She laid her head against his back, "Of course I need you! I love you." That was the simple truth. He was all that mattered. At least until they had children then they all would be all that mattered. Her family was what mattered. Her ear twitched as he nipped it and she let out a soft laugh. "Perhaps I should pay our respects and talk about this elsewhere. I know how you feel about lies....even those told with the best of intentions I'll be along soon."

He nodded to her, she was ever thoughtful, and she was also the only one he had ever spoken the depth's of his ability with.... including how too many lies made him feel sick at times, although he tried to never show it. "Appreciated." He kissed her softly and made his way to the back of the group. His heart went out to each and everyone of those present here. He hoped that they would heal quickly, and held onto the good memories of those that had passed. That was far better than carrying grudges and fear forward.
He weaved his way out of the crowd and stood back from the group. It seemed quite a few of the Miakoda herd members had had the same thought.

Sonnet watched as Maion left, and looked around at the mare that had gotten close, he didn't know her, but just watched her carefully. Not sure what to make of her as she too left, a small frown on his face, wondering what she had come over for. The frown lifting and looking down at Auva when she buried herself under his wings, feeling the hard lump of anger in him ease as she nuzzled into him. His heart breaking every time he saw her limping around. Watching as she tried to get attention from one of her sisters. Smiling a little at this, not sure which one she was trying to get attention from. Looking at the other two girls, seeing their faces, Heze was upset over something, Zaniah seemed to be lost and upset. Looking round for his father, having left Zaniah with him, sighing in relief to see that his father and sister had brought his daughter back to him. Giving them a nod, thinking that he should take Auva and Heze to see them a little today, Wondering if Auva took after his mute sister... Either way it would be a short visit today, the girls were tired, maybe it was time to take them home, they had been as upset about Auva as anyone.
Uncovering his silent daughter he knelt right down low, giving her e nuzzle and a smile. "Auva how about daddy gives yo a ride home huh? Then Heze, you and Zaniah can play and climb all over me when we get home if you want, or just hide, I'm sure they would love to do anything you want." Knowing for sure Heze had stuck to Auva like glue since she had come home hurt, Zaniah much the same. Offering his big strong back to Auva, not wanting her walking so much om her leg, more than happy to treat her like the princess she was to him. "How about it little star?... I'm sure the others can get a ride too, should we ask them who they would like to ride with?" Not sure why but finding that he wasn't ready to trust Auva to another just yet, the scare was a little too recent. Giving the other two a smile as he waited for Auva to climb on or shake her head. "Who would you two like to ride on?" Gettign a piggy back quite a treat for the foals, and if they asked Sonnet was sure that he could persuade whoever it was to give them a ride.
He knew Chan was very upset and once he had the girls all sorted for going home he would try to comfort her. Glancing up at her as he waited for the girls to make up their minds. Yes he was angry, yes there was things to talk about but he still loves Chan, always had and always would. His eyes showing his love for her despite everything. It would take time but for now their foals came first, and part of him was sure that inside Chan would agree with his priorities, he just needed time.
Heze sniffed and looked round havign felt a puff of air on her, seeing a strange mare leaving, making her frown a little before that faded away hearing a tap, giving Auva a watery smile, seeing her hiding under their fathers wings. Having moved closer, to hide with her sister when Her father lowered down. Glad to hear it was time to go home, she didn't like being here with everyone so angry and sad. Looking at Auva who was offered their fathers back, then to Zaniah giving her sister a little nudge. "Zaniah can pick first." Smiling a little sadly, wanting the other two to have their picks, even if she didn't get a ride that was ok.
Eden gave her brother a sad smile, leaning in and nuzzling him. "No, I didn't bring Orion... We decided that this was not something that would be comfortable for him..." Having found it hard to see her mate when they talked, he seemed to hate his heritage enough as it was so this had stung and taken them a few steps back. But as always she loved him regardless, and told him so. but she didn't know this herd or most of the others here, if she arrived with a part kalona mate, one that looked different... She didn't want to upset anyone or see Orion hurt, especially not her family if they jumped in to help protect Orion.
Still nuzzling her brother having come purely for him, not sure how he would feel about that. She stepped back and looked at him, her eyes gentle, showing some of her inner self for him. Tugging on his mane softly, and offering a soft smile. Not sure what he wanted to do, but he seemed fidgity and uncomfortable. Glancing over at the others, not sure if she should suggest joining Maion and Drashi, or if she should just leave with him. "Did you want to go... or...?" Glancing at the others again, then back to him, her voice soft, offering him option

Maion was too distracted to notice the strange mare that had caught the others attention. But what he did notice was his grandchildren and his daughter getting ready to leave. "Drashi... we shall be leaving soon." Usually he would have added something like; 'ensure we are prepared' or 'take the lead' but today Maion would do that, he would lead his family home, he would guard them with his life above anyone else in his herd... he was older than them all, so if something bad happened he wanted it to happen to him instead of them. Plus, with his new elderhood came increased power and he planned to use it when it came to protecting those he loved so dearly.
Auva looked at her daddy with bright sparkly eyes, but before she replied or said anything she looked at Heze and gave her a little kiss on the cheek. She appreciated what her sister was doing, and to be honest after feeling so alone while the battle raged she was more than happy to submit to her sister and family. She wished she could make them all smile again. Tell them with her words she was ok, and not to worry.... but that wouldn't change anything, and so, as always she remained silent.
Turning to her father she nodded softly, before moving into position so she could scramble on to his back. It was rare that any of them got a 'piggy back' these days, they were getting so much bigger and older, foalhood was nearly gone... but she was pleased that he was offering, so much so it made her smile, and even though the smile was probably inappropriate she couldn't shift it... and nor did she want to.
When she finally managed to crawl onto her fathers back she snuggled in, listening to his strong and steady heartbeat. She loved her family... but she was definatly a Daddy's girl. Still... even she couldn't hide her shock when she saw Drashi, usually so harsh, approaching... smiling! She blinked, thinking her mind was playing tricks.
Chandra smiled back at Sonnet, returning his gesture of love. She understood and even agreed that the children came first... she simply hoped that they found time to sort things out before it became a polute unrecognisable thing that corrupted the good thing they had together. Still, Chandra wouldn't force the issue.
Looking at her children she looked to Zaniah, and was about to ask who she wanted a piggy back from just as she saw why Auva had gone so still.... Drashi. "Brother." She said with a smile, curious why he was here... perhaps their father had sent him.
Drashi nodded to Maion, "I understand. Let's get these children home safe." He said before he started towards the group.
He tried to ignore the reaction from Auva, he didn't want to scare her but he really wasn't sure why she was so surprised to see him... after all, he had always loved foals, and had tried to play a part -even if only small- in each of their lives... though he supposed that hadn't happened much since Crown and Eden had nearly got stolen and instead his father was taken from them. Maybe he really was a near stranger to them all. That caused him to stop in his tracks for a moment, and only Chandra's voice woke him from it. He smiled at her, of all his 'siblings' she was his favourite, and probably one of the few individuals who dared approach him when he was in a mood.
Refocusing on his purpose he said; "Heze," Smiling softly and lowering himself to the ground with a turn of practised grace. "Get on, I will make sure you get home safely." Part of him knew that he would probably be hurt if she rejected his offer but he wouldn't hold it against her, of all the siblings she was the only one he saw on a regular basis, he usually found her sneaking around and hiding in bushes.
Crown did want to go, he felt uncomfortable and he knew he was distracted... he really needed to sort this thing out with Kyran; but how exactly would that conversation go? 'Oh... what is this between us?' or 'Do you like like me? I like like you?' Yeah that just sounded like a bucket of fun and then some. He frowned softly as he looked at Eden, she had her own problems right now so he wouldn't get her involved right now.
He was about to answer her when he noticed that Sonnet now had Auva on her back, and Drashi was on the ground talking to Heze... or at least it seemed to be Heze. He grinned at that, he was a big softy.... if you could see through the harsh exterior... but of course Crown wasn't fool enough to say that out loud to him. Ever! "Yeah... lets go home. You can get back to that mate of yours and do things that I really don't wanna know about... ever!" He teased winking at her playfully before looking towards Maion, something seemed off with him. He supposed that was because a foal of the herd had been injuried and there had been nothing he could do... no one but Chandra seemed to even know that Auva was up here. Yeah, that was bound to sting and then some!
"Come on." He said to Eden, "Lets go join the group and go back together." Safety in numbers, and although he was sure that Eden could hold her own if she wanted he didn't want her to ever have to... not while she had him.

After a moment of hesitation Akuba strode over to Sonnet's new family unit and nodded to Chandra, in moments things went from falling apart to fixing themselves up again. 'This family learns fast',he thought, 'they're going to be okay.' For him it was always preferable to stand away because his son had his own adult life now and his own little family. A small weak smile slowly spread across his face. He felt so old, but he'd been feeling old for a long time, even when his two were teens. For now he saw his purpose as a father had been fulfilled, Sonnet was just about coping, now he could sort his own things out.Symphony had nothing to do but follow her father and oggle her brother and his family and think of how lucky he was to have so many people around him who liked him and who'd make an effort. She missed him dearly. When Ivory was around he'd never hear the end of it, but Ivory wasn't around anymore, he'd been gone a long time now, it'd been months and months or in fact a year. She missed him too, but now she had no-one to tell. She only had her sister, but even her sister was now busy with Echo. She always felt as if she was behind a glass shield which separated her from the world, her eyes glazed over and the sound had muted from her world, she could only see nothing mouths with no sound. She focused on them but moved her gaze away incase she thought anyone might see her staring. She glanced at Drashi talking to Chandra and then to the foals again. Zaniah looked at her sister and sighed out a little of the raging demon inside her. She didn't like much being breathed on by strange mares she did not know. Her father had always told her to stay away from strangers, she gave the mare a funny look and moved away. Her ears perked at Heze's question she was already in a foul mood and making decisions made her feel worse, she looked at her aunt, then to Grandaddy Maion and then to her father,"why are they called piggy backs? I've never seen a piggy on anyone's back..." She huffed and returned to looking, she looked at her mother and then to grandaddy Aku and then back to her mother. She wasn't sure she wanted a ride at all, she wanted to feel the ground. As soon as her mother looked like she was going to say something her attentions turned to Drashi, she looked at Drashi who offered Heze a lift. "I don't want a ride", she scowled still feeling sour,"I will walk." She huffed and stomped the ground.

Karma shut his eyes softly and accepted his niece's comforting nuzzle. How lucky his brother was to have his children intact. It wasn't until something was gone forever that you truly understood its worth. "It's all right, Melanthios," he murmured softly. "I forgive you. You..." His pained eyes drifted upward and searched the sky. "You couldn't harm me with your words." Black smoke drifted across the blue expanse. There were no words that could ever cut him so deeply as his losses now did.
Out of the crowd came Tuli, their sister. Karma looked toward her and gave her a slight nod of greeting. "Tuli... It's..." He couldn't say that it was pleasant to see her, even if he did appreciate her company. He couldn't find pleasantness right now. "You're here," is what he finally ended up on.
