Perhaps he came here on purpose, perhaps it was an accident.
User ImageThe acrid smell of geraniums in bloom on fire permeates a fifteen foot radius. At the center of the stench is a blinding flash of light and a dark silhouette in the middle of that. The light fades as quickly as it has happened and a man issues forth, taking in all there is to survey. He sees that there are zombies, something that he has seen on quite a few occasions, and in many different forms. He quickly sends out his mind like tendrils to find out how many sentient beings are here on this planet; the results are promising. There iss one nearby; female. Her mind and heart are racing, he can hear it. She is being attacked by one, and she clearly does not understand what is going on.

Bruno opens up a portal in front of him and steps through it. The portal opens up above the zombie attacking the girl and he drops down out of it, bringing his sword down to slash the zombie in half. He opens up a portal in the ground right where he would drop and the portal on the other side opens up right in front of the woman. "Merde. Dieu a condamné des zombies. Mon nom est Bruno, quel est le vôtre ?"

But whatever it was, there's a problem to set to rights.

Fumi breathed lightly, and tried not to whimper as the zombie got closer and closer. He was a middle-aged man, with wrinkled, shredded clothes, one particularly large gash in the shoulder where he'd probably been bitten. His face was smeared with blood. He was so close, Fumi could see the remnants of flesh stuck in his rotten teeth. He was alone, but just one zombie was enough to frighten her.

The zombie breathed in that gasping, hacking way zombies died, and inched closer. Fumi backed against the wall, trying to make herself as invisible as possible. She considered going straight through the wall, but she didn't know what was on the other side. Perhaps it was a whole crowd, instead of this lone zombie? No, she wouldn't risk it.

As she contemplated her choice, the zombie's head tilted, as if doubting its senses. It should. It probably was thinking something along the lines of, 'I smell human, but I don't see human. Whut?' Thank God zombies were dim-witted. Perhaps their brains were crippled when their bodies changed. If they had any brain at all.

The zombie seemed to decide to trust its instincts, and raised its hands. He was but a foot from Fumi now. Now or never, Fumi thought. Then, in one fluid motion, Fumi dropped to her knees, kicked out with her legs and tripped the zombie. There was no response from him as he fell and hit the ground with a sickening thud! He groaned and struggled to get up. Fumi grabbed the knife at her belt, and, raising it high above her head, dropped straight down -- stabbing the zombie through the brain. There was some fluid that squirted when the blade pierced the skin. Not nearly as much if the man were alive. There was a groan, then the zombie seemed to go limp - well, limper.

To anyone that might have glimpsed that scene, it would have looked like the zombie just fell over. Then, a deep incision in the middle of his head randomly appeared, and fluid squirted out.

Slowly, hands trembling, Fumi took the knife out from his head. She took deep, shaky breaths as her hands automatically wiped the blade clean with the edge of her shirt. She'd have to replace it later. She was already taking a risk, keeping the shirt on for as much as she'd worn it. If she wore it for too long, she might get infected. She'd probably wiped her blade clean at least seven times - way too much for her liking. But she had no choice. She didn't get the chance to swipe a new shirt.

Fumi straightened up, looked to her left and right. She never went anywhere without looking around thoroughly first anymore. Then, deciding it safe enough, she hit the mental 'off' button for her powers, and she reappeared, in visible form. Fumi sighed deeply. It had been too close this time. She had been careless. If she'd waited to trip him just a moment longer, she didn't think she would've had the chance anymore. And then... well, she didn't want to think about what would happen next.

Fumi took cautious steps out the alley. She looked up and down the street. She didn't see any zombies at the moment. Then, picking a random direction, she walked up the street, in that strange, floating gait of hers, that really made her resemble a ghost. Her current goal now was to get some new clothes. The ones she was currently wearing were about a week old. She'd sullied it with zombie juices a day after she pilfered it. Zombie germs had to be just swarming her right now. Explosions, fire, smoke, and the like happened all around her as she walked. She was used to it by now. It was just other people trying to survive. Like she was.

"...Hey! Watch it!" Was heard a few roofs over by someone almost hit by the woman's quick attempt to flee. "Alright! Someone alive! Hey! Hello there!" she called with an excited tone and waved frantically. "Sorry I almost killed you!" she exclaimed stepping toward the edge of the roof she was standing on.

In one clean motion with, no hesitation, she made a great leap from the roof top she was on to one closer to her, almost, victim. "That's not good. It should have been easier than that." she thought as she took a running start to leap to the next rooftop.

Her movements where slower, like their were restrictions on her body's capabilities. She noticed it when she made the hole in the wall too. It should have made a bigger hole with the force she had held back. All this had startled her but she kept calm and continued onward to meet some life that didn't grunt.

Finally, reaching the girl a few roofs over, she smiled and spoke cheerfully; "Yes! Someone who isn't a rotted husk. I'm, Desirae! And you are?"

Staying out of sight, Tora looked around slowly, her eyes taking in anything that she could find. Using the abandoned buildings as her cover, she noticed the smallest details down to the larger ones. This city was some sort of gathering point, it seemed. Gryphons, aliens, women, men... they were all around and it seemed like they all had the same goal. Her eyes went to the wreckage of her own ship, frowning more before her eyes went back to the city. Now that she was gone from that ship, she had to focus. Ziggy would make sure that there was at least one survivor, if not then he knew how to handle himself. Zombie's weren't good with fire and she had gained her own habits honest. Ziggy could handle himself. For now, however, she had to make sure that there was something that she could do. Getting an ally should be her top priority, but.. these people were... ridiculous, really. Hell, one girl just tried to reason with zombies. Who the hell did that?!

A scoff came from the woman as she lit another cig, the cancer stick finding its home between her lips before she began to move. Gun in hand, she walked around before her eyes went to a... boy? Was that who that was? Raising a brow as she watched him for a moment, Tora nearly laughed. He had fallen from the explosion, more of those happening by the minute it seemed, and his weapon was some wrench. Who used a wrench, for God's sake? The woman couldn't help but watch, however, as it seemed like his focus was on someone else. Eyes following his gaze to the woman in the window, she shrugged before walking on. There were more and more around than she had expected, more than she wanted to deal with. Women, cold like her, girls, scared and confused, men, confused but brave, and creatures, assessing the situation perfectly. So many beings in one city. So much for a ghost town.

Moving faster, her attention finally came to... what the hell was that?

Almost stumbling, she looked at the other before a loud laugh came from the other. "Instead of complaining about who gets rid of them, why don't you not stand there like fodder, boy?" Two shots were fired off as Tora looked at the alien, that the only word she could think of with the other. he was so... tiny.. and gray. Glancing up to the sky, the gryphon was in her sights as well. If anything, non-humans were easier to deal with than humans. Most that she had seen so far were hardly her style. With another drag of the cancer stick, Tora stayed out of reach of the alien and the zombies, aiming for another. The hoard wasn't happy, that's for sure. "You gonna just stand there or what?"

Alright. The woman was safe from the flesh-chomper closest to her, but there was still the other four who were now staring and shambling towards a bright green flare. Now who would want to draw the zombies towards themselves? Not my problem. She darted off again, certain that the frizzy haired woman was safe for now. Tala needed to take care of herself. The amount of cans clanking around in her backpack was getting low. It was time for another trip to the grocery store.

The store wasn't too far off. The door was still ajar from when she'd first broken in, and the store had been zombie-free. Still, there was no guarantee that they wouldn't be around. Slipping off to where nobody would see her, she transformed slightly into her human self, keeping the wolf's nose and ears so she could hear and smell nearby zombies.

She slipped on a black t-shirt, a pair of tennis shoes, and jeans, then headed to the canned goods isle. She grabbed at cans of ravioli, soup, tuna, anything that would be easy to cook and eat to feed her voracious appetite. She also headed to the dry goods section and snatched a box of crackers. Tala wondered if they had those powdered eggs anywhere. Eggs would be nice to have after all the days of not tasting them. She had no clue where to find them, though, so she headed over to the camping section and picked up a box of waterproof matches. Her eyes fell on a set of flint and steel. She grabbed that, too, knowing that they'd come in handy when the supply of matches ran out for good.

Next, cooking supplies. Tala picked up a package of steel wool, knowing that it'd come in handy as kindling for a fire. She also went to the bottled drink isle and picked up a few bottles of water, even the fancy kinds that would normally cost a dollar or more per bottle.

Her backpack now full, she exited the store and found that all the streetlights were lit, but in a ghostly blue hue. Underneath it, a new type of graffiti showed up that told her where to find a safehouse. Perhaps I can find who wrote this, she thought. She got close to the ground and sniffed it, filling her nose with the scent of a person and their cat. She started to follow the smell, thanking the owner that the cat hadn't been bathed for a while. It made the scent easier to follow.

"Arg! Damn!" yelled an angry woman's booming voice as she stomped on the street. "Just what the hell happened?! One minute I'm fighting giant robots and a gang of those humpty dumpty Jesters and the next I'm waking up under a black light!" She continued and looked around. "And where in the name of all this, am I?!" her rant grew even louder drawing some attention to her. "You want some of this stumpy?!" she taunted to the undead giving it a rather crude gesture of insults.

"Whaargh!" the screech of something wicked called out behind her. "Oh lovely!" she cursed to herself snapping a turn around; "Did I piss off your older brother?!" she asked sarcastically noticing a skinny less rotted form with what looked liked metal finger nails on its hands. "You need to eat! You look emaciated!" she yelled with a laugh but, somehow that was this things cue to charge at her at a pace faster than the normal sprinting undead. Standing her ground she coaxed the thing on; "I'll show you how I earned the title Tina the Tank!" she called out and stood firm in a basic horse stance as the zombie almost became a blur to her eyes. "I hope I picked up something from you, sis!" she thought as she exhaled right as the zombie reappeared in front of her and wailed drawing a handful of its claws back ready to strike. "Left handed punch, step to the right..." she kept her calm and quickly stepped to the right lifting her left arm and catching the foul creatures arm. "Ha! It worked!" she exclaimed attempted an upper cut to its guts only to be met with its other claw. Change it up! Push it away!" she kept on and repelled the attack and let go of its arm and drew back her right hand and released giving the thing a forced palm to its chest knocking it back several feet.

"That's not right! I should have been faster at that and could put a giant hole in your chest! Instead it felt like I was attacking a tracker tire! What happened to my body?!" she threw a fit and stomped the ground again.

Sydelle West

You're not a hero, you're a liar...

Sydelle was confused when the streetlights suddenly came on. Confused on the inside, that is. Her face was still carefully apathetic. Grr didn't notice the lights until he'd finished ripping apart the walking corpse. He couldn't eat the things, as they were rotting and probably disgusting.

Sydelle noticed an arrow on the building nearby. The word "safehouse" was written underneath it. "It would appear someone wants us to head in that direction." Sydelle said quietly. She wasn't one to take orders, but she was curious. So she followed the arrows carefully. There was always a new one. How long have they been working on this? She thought. Grr shuffled along behind, his glaze constantly shifting, looking for more of the undead to play with.

She finally ended at a skyscraper in the business district. "They're definitely not gang-bangers." She said quietly. She was feeling slightly easier. A business group? Her kind of people. Never mind that her business was on the wrong side of legal. The idea of getting ahead by getting more money worked the same way, even with legitimate businesses. She walked inside and began heading up the stairs. This had better be worth my time.

" EEP! "

Miss Misaki jumped at the sudden black light flashing on. Though she lived here; she could never get used to the subtle sudden change every night. the worse part is (now that she had made a sound) that potential "zombie" with a wrench would have definetly notice her - still.. could he really be a zombie? he doesn't walk like one of them half-witted zombies. He seemed to be assessing the property; something zombies didn't normally do? and out of all her neighbors that had been turned into flesh eating dummies; she couldn't place a name on him- she panicked a little in her mind; but decided to stay still behind this man about ten feet or so. She made no effort to comunicate with him even if she had been founded out. She locked her steel blue eyes on his frame; just waiting for him to turn around.

the air was dense and thick with the smell of rotting flesh and her own aura was not that inviting. She was short but look cold and hard hearted; a mysterious hurt seemed to emanate from her eyes. Her mostly white hair slightly tinted purple and parts of her heroine dress swayed in the hot breeze. In her hand a kunai pointed at him as if to make a clear statement of mistrust. Her clothes ranked her higher then she felt she was at- she was considered a Sage. Yet she made no advancement and didn't try to communicate with him. She simply watched and waited.

Adelaide was walking towards the river when she saw the flre. She was uneasy, as flares were sorta hard for her to come by, so she slowly walked towards it. She had stopped her song a few miles back as she heard walking a little ways from her, and thought silence would be best. Silence was always the best, she thought to herself. Stay silent, no one knew of your German accent. No one knew your past or name.

She stopped when she saw a body being covered by those things people called zombies. Gott verdammt, diese Dinge sind überall. Wann werden sie sterben?! She said to herself, removing her Colt from her belt, and was about to shoot them when a man dropped out of some time warp. Was zur Hölle?! She asked herself approching the tow catiously.

Chestnut brown locks flew backward as the small girl retreated from the approaching creatures. What are those things? She wondered as she swung around, bringing down her large blade onto the head of the creature. While the creature was distracted, Aikotsu ran out of there.

She stopped at a river, and upon looking closer, noticed a body floating along the river. Confused, she walked upriver to see where it came from. As she went up the river, she noticed a strange city, and she also saw a group of people. Still very much on edge, Aikotsu approached the people, her blade still firmly gripped in her hands, and grinned nervously.

"Uhm, hello there."

The sheer amount of noise drew Natalie back to the window. She watched with awe as the quiet, relatively abandoned city filled with chaos and new arrivals that were more surprising by the second. In fact, she hadn't seen this much commotion in weeks.

Shaking off her backpack, she drew out a pair of battered, military grade binoculars. They were bulky in her hands, but she put them to her eyes and turned the small dial. A green tinted view allowed her to see further and clearer than she could on her own, and she silently thanked her fellow survivors for giving her a few toys to take with her.

She surveyed the city, seeing some things and missing others. There were several people who caught her eye, not to mention the green flare in the distance over what resembled a hospital and the way the lights flickered on to reveal hidden messages. In Natalie's experience, neither was to be trusted. People were willing to do anything to survive, and she'd nearly gotten herself captured, killed, or... Well, she was happy that she'd found some trustworthy friends when she had.

The closest people were a boy in the street and a woman following not far behind. Natalie watched their progress for several seconds, trying to make up her mind. She wasn't sure he'd last long with a wrench, but...

The woman drew in a deep breath and held it there for a moment, thinking. Nodding to herself, she packed her things back into her pack and slung it over her shoulder before hopping over the windowsill and onto the fire escape. Her flexibility and quickness—skills she'd honed on her high school and college track teams—helped her clamber down the metal stairs with minimal noise and difficulty.

If she'd never trusted anyone, she never would have met the half-brothers or the rest of the survivors at their camp. Now, cut off from everyone she knew, Natalie needed to suck it up and make some new friends. And, damn it, she may only be a cartoonist, but she'd been living and surviving in this world for weeks now. That meant something, didn't it?

Natalie dropped to the street and checked to make sure the .45 was tucked into the waist of her ragged skirt and that the safety was on. Satisfied, she wrapped her fingers tighter around the crowbar. When a zombie shuffled out of the nearby alleyway, she barely flinched. With a deep breath, she hoisted the crowbar up and over her shoulder, waiting for the creature to stumble closer, bracing her feet, telling herself to stay focused.

When he was within reach, she swung and followed through, feeling the edge of the bar connected with the skull. It cracked the bone with a crunch. The second swing pushed all the way through, the metal digging into the soft part of the brain with a splash of sluggish, coagulated blood. Its body dropped to the ground, and Natalie brought the crowbar down one more time into the middle of its forehead.

Even if she wasn't practiced in killing or combat, she could get the job done. (It just... took her a little while.)

{{Eek, that came out longer than I meant it to. :3 There was just a lot to respond to. I'm excited for this, guys!}}

Busy in his own thoughts Darren had not even begun to notice the strange presence walking hesitantly behind him, heck he didn't even know what was going on! A voice broke out his peaceful state, turning around cautiously he jumped back, flinging the wrench into the air unknowingly. Getting into a defensive stance he began to shake his head madly "Zombies, no way, Zombies... DON'T HURT ME! I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING BUT MY GOOD LOOKS, DON'T TOUCH ME!" While he was busy pleading the wrench hit him spot on in the middle of his head and with a quizzical and deranged look on his face he began to fall to the ground in a heap of unconscious flesh.

Miss Misaki; being as focused on him as she was, went to go make a hand sign to try and catch the wrench, but it didn't fly at her. Instead it flew down and quickly hit his head. She stood up straight as he fell to the ground and she quirked a brow. Slowly she walked up to his carcass, kneeling beside him and assessing the problem - This must of happened allot, he's got a concussion. surprising he can walk straight. can't leave him here, he wont wake up for another two hours or so. i guess this is a good time to exercise my medical ninjutsu.- Miss Misaki placed her hands on his head and they began to glow green as his brain was relieved of swelling and the crack in his skull was reformed and patched up.

" there.. now you should wake up in fifteen minutes. tops.. not bad for the healer of all nations huh? but still can't leave you out in the open like this, huh?"

Miss Misaki grabbed his wrench and tucked it in her corset and then grabbed his arms and tried to drag him to the rubble on the side of the road.

Jasmine Langdon

"It's been too long.." The girl thought, looking at the dark city, she doesn't know anything about the zombies yet, for she just got there. As far as she knew, she was alone. She was visiting Tynastera for too long, she didn't know how many years had passed since she left, but it must've been longer than she thought.
She hasn't met anyone, all she thought was she could be the last of the humans. She hated that idea.
"Hello?"She called as she walked into the city, her voice echoing through the deserted buildings."Is anyone out there?"
Her violet eyes scanned the area. No one. She felt.. Afraid. She was used to being alone, yes, from living on the streets for about a hundred years, but it was that eerie left alone. The kind that was full of mystery and that you didn't know, especially a physic like herself.
All of a sudden, a low groan is heard behind her, she turns to see a figure, it's clothes tore and eyes seemingly dead,
"Hi!"Jasmine says cheerfully, relieved she isn't the only person anymore."Is there any others? Who are you?"She begins to question the man. But all that happened was he was walking weirdly over to her... Something is not right about him...She thinks, as she looks hard at the man, realizing, he isn't a regular man. She screams, and in fright, the street lanp he was under, breaks and the light comes crashing down on him, crushing him.
A pool of blood soon is leaking out of the corpse.
"What was that!?"She says nervously, not going over to body, instead. Staying frozen, trying to figure out, who WAS that? What WAS that? It didn't look to be a human, or any species she was aware of, and she lived with atleast a hundred different ones in Tynastera...
