Candace shrugged. "About mid-thigh, and bloomers not shorts. And the skirt itself was white with red and gold trimming." It had just been a uniform, just like how her scarf and coat were her new uniform. Candace felt no shame in her history as a cheerleader nor did she feel discussing her uniform was something that warranted she be a shy, blushing teenaged girl about. There was nothing scandalous unless you made it scandalous.
Ugh, Lance! What did it take? Hitting you over the head with your own chair and telling you to take the ******** compliment!? Candace would never do that but..damn! "I can do all of those things. Maybe Leon can help me.." Though she'd really only to go Leon if she had to.
Like..it was life of death.
Candace imagined the vambrace Lance was describing for her, humming thoughtfully and looking down at her own arm. That sounded fun! She did like to use her elbows and arms if she wasn't using her feet. "That sounds like fun. I'll have to see if I can get clearance for any of these things. Runic gloves, a staff, vambrace..do you think I'll need to be a full fledged hunter before they let me train with any of those things? That'd suck..."
And then Lance brought up something that she did need a lot of work in. She blushed. "Do you say this after seeing me in action or just as more suggestions."

Damn. Lance hid his disappointment by staring at Candace, trying to imagine her in white and red. He ended up shaking his head. "Nope. Can't see you in anything like that. If it was white and purple then perhaps." He shrugged. "You get so used to seeing hunters with their colors that it's hard to imagine them in something else. For Aria, it's browns. You? Purple. Me?" Lance glanced down at himself and grimaced. "Nevermind that."
He shifted his attention back onto her, shaking his head. "You need to earn clearance based on your performance. The Life Labs like to tinker around with things. You've met Clarice? Life assistant?" Lance waited for Candace to answer before continuing, "She's good, really good. When I first..."
Lance trailed off, then tried again. "When she became aware of my situation, she rigged a couple up. Granted they either exploded, fell apart, or otherwise did things they weren't supposed to do. Her heart's in the right place, just..." He shrugged. "She could probably tell you more about runic weapons more than I can. I just know how to use'em, not how they're made or what function they're supposed to serve. Who knows? Maybe if you prove yourself, you might be able to ask if it's possible to get one custom-made. Might cost a pretty penny though."
"As far as your defense goes? Both." Lance shrugged. "It's easy enough to concentrate on your offense, but when it comes to protecting yourself? Yeeeah no. Moons may be good at defending and healing, but you should learn how to take care of yourselves so the Moons can worry about someone else. What have you done to protect yourself so far? What about patching yourself up afterwards?"

The last thing Candace was expecting was for Lance to shake his head and basically tell her she wasn't allowed to wear red. She wasn't allowed to wear other colors? Really? How interesting. She gave a soft laugh and raised a brow at his words, watching him look down at himself. He needed to stop looking at his lap...
Candace lowered her foot from Lance's lap and stood long enough to turn and sit herself down on Lance's lap, humming cheerfully as she made herself comfortable with an arm draped across the back of his shoulders and her legs hanging over one arm of the chair. She flashed him a sweet smile and put her head on his shoulder. "Out of sight, out of mind." She told him cheerfully, fingers idly toying with his hair as he continued on to speak of Clarice. Ah, yes. Clarice was pretty amazing.
...Exploding legs did seem a bit counterproductive to, well, living and walking. Poor Clarice, she probably meant well. But now that he mentioned it she'd have to go see Clarice about runic weapons for sure. She was so helpful. "I'll ask her, then. The gloves sound like they'd be really nice to have, especially since I spend a lot of time on my hands." She chuckled, drumming her fingers against his chest. "A pretty penny..hmmm, I probably couldn't afford it unless I got a pay raise?" Which wouldn't happen until she became a full-fledged hunter, right? She'd have to make do without it or...find some kind of arrangement. A talk with Clarice was definitely in order.
"Harrison got me a pair of shin guards for Christmas. So far I've been pretty reckless, I'll admit it. But I've been focusing more on making sure to protect my legs. I'd be useless withou--er..." Bad person to say that to. Way bad. Instead, Candace cleared her throat and continued on a different train of thought. "H gave me a balm to rub on my legs every now and then. It relaxes the muscles in my legs when I start to get too sore and ache-y. He said it's like Tiger Balm on steroids...what else..uh...lots of stretching when I have the time for it, making sure I rest my legs enough if I do need patching up...my scarf's been good for an impromptu bandage..usually when I'm in a fight I try to keep my attacks quick and then get away before I can get hurt too badly. It's been successful for the most part." For the most part. There were obviously exceptions.

The last thing Lance was expecting was for Candace to seat herself onto his lap. He looked at her questioningly when she stood up, glancing at her legs unabashedly. There were some definite perks to being part of the Mist division, and Candace was proving one of those right now.
He gave her a lazy grin in return for her smile, shifting his arms around her so that the arm of his wheelchair wasn't digging into her back. He considered the placement of his hands when she leaned against him, giving up and just letting them rest where they would. "Well now, aren't you resourceful?" He joked, making sure to keep his eyes to himself. It was difficult to look down at himself when Candace's cleavage was in the way.
"Depends on who you speak to, really," Lance offered with a shrug. "Some of them prefer money, others prefer an exchange of favors. As a trainee... Clarice is probably your best bet. It wouldn't hurt to try and get to know some Lifer trainees now before you guys become hunters. Or any other division, really."
Lance shrugged, silent as he listened to her. He nodded approvingly to the shin guards. They weren't much in his eyes, but they were a start. He grew still as Candace caught herself. If he could still walk, he probably would have stood up and set her aside in order to pace. But even if he could use his legs, this conversation probably wouldn't have ever happened. He did not offer anything, remaining silent as she recovered.
"For you it is going to be difficult." Lance reached out with a free hand, resting it on Candace's leg. "Your style of combat relies heavily on flexibility and movement. Shin guards are a start, and stretching before any mission is a requirement, not an option. Aside from that..." Lance began to drum his fingers on Candace's leg, stopping when he realized what he was doing. "You'll need to rely on your Fear shield for protection. Otherwise, my advice? Don't get hit. Learn how to dodge and avoid your opponent. It is going to be difficult considering how close you need to get, however I don't think you will be able to parry or block very well with your weapons."
Lance shrugged. "You seem to be doing good so far, given the circumstances. Do you have any questions for me that we didn't address or...?"

"Mmm...so H and Clarice are my best bets on getting anything without too much trouble. I'm very good at getting what I want from H, and Clarice seems to like me well enough~." She made a slight face at Lance's suggestion to getting to know some of the Life trainees. Yeah...she knew the Life trainees. Candace rolled her eyes, tracing the muscles of Lance's chest with a soft pout. "I know the Life trainees..some of them, anyway. Robert's a buffoon, why he's even in Life is beyond a mystery, that Reine chick is obnoxious, Leon is a moron who needs to let go of the past...I don't know the rest of the trainees. Frankly, I'm curious why they're Life trainees." She shrugged, closing her eyes and sighing. "The other divisions are fine. Jerry is in Sun, my best friend is in Moon. Ohhh and then there's Gale. He's pretty great." She was smiling again.
There was an awkward silence when Lance didn't say anything at first. ********. She didn't mean to say it like that. Aria had drilled that into her head and she just...s**t. She felt bad. As he rest a hand on her leg she opened one eye to keep a close watch on it. Anytime a man's hand was on her leg it ended with something naughty happening, or with her being tickled. He drummed his fingers and she squirmed, unable to hold back the giggles. ********! "I-I can do that. I'll see about visiting Clarice soon..." She eyed his hand. Be good.
"None that I can think of right now...if I do you're not hard to get into contact with anyway." Candace answered distractedly, her attention mostly on Lance's hand. It was close to her knees. Too close.

"You're good at getting what you want from H?" Lance asked, impressed. "You are quite the resourceful Mist. As far as why... who knows?" He shrugged. "H and Caelius are the ones who tend to be in charge of who goes into what division. Perhaps they thought it was funny. H certainly did with the latest Mist recruits." He shrugged dismissively. An increase in Mist numbers was always good. The fact that Aria was unprepared for the surge and numbers and still did not know what to make of them was... quite frankly Aria's problem in all honesty.
His attention was side-tracked, thoughts derailed as Candace squirmed on his lap. "Oho? What have we here?" His fingers drummed lightly against her skin as he watched her, curious towards her reaction.
Then he stopped. Lance lifted his hand away and off of her. "Haha, alright. If you're sure, then I think you're good to go."

Candace grinned. "Yeah, resourceful. I'm good at that." It wasn't a lie, really. She was one to take advantage of any weakness or opening she could find in an opponent of any kind. But that explained...a lot. Perhaps Caelius was trolling H with the trainees, and H just didn't feel like fixing it. He did say he transferred Before because he could. "Mmm..I've met a few of them, they're not bad. I love Mercedes, Molly is the sweetest thing.." Lots of M names. But Candace was always excited to see more Mist trainees; she hoped Aria would be pleased to see more Mists, too. They had the best division.
s**t. He noticed. Candace's cheeks flushed and her lips pouted as Lance took notice of her weakspot. Don't even..
Gah! Gaaaaah! No! She squeaked again and squirmed on Lance's lap, coming very close to falling off of him and onto the floor in her efforts to get away from his tickling hand. Oh thank god. He moved it. "We have nothing." She replied with a frown, waving his hand further away.
"Alright, alright. I'll go." Though she was very comfy. Very, very comfy. She liked being held and sitting on laps een if there was no sexual context around the cuddling. She pouted, tucking her head under Lance's chin. It was comfortable here. Candace loved being in a man's arms. "I'll go in a minute." Or ten. Whichever came first.

Candace's denial was met with a feral grin. She could be assured that he would tuck that information away for later, however as to whether or not he would use it now... That was a question left up in the air, one that even Lance would not have an immediate answer to. Instead, he simply shrugged and let Candace remain on his lap, his chin resting on her head. "Don't make yourself too comfortable. Otherwise I might not let you go," he murmured, contemplating. If Aria walked in now, what would she say? Would she care? It wouldn't be the first time Aria spotted him with another, both in a nonsexual and sexual way. She didn't seem to mind, and yet... Lance owed her, didn't he? If she wasn't around... I worry about this too much, he realized, quirking a grin at himself. For now, he decided to simply enjoy the moment.

"Yes you will." Candace said with a soft smile, still making no move to get off the man's lap. He had said it himself, there was a woman he was working his charms on and it wasn't her, which she thought was cute. Candace's thoughts? If Lance didn't leave the Mist lounge often..his options on who that woman could be were very narrowed down. Plus, she'd made it clear she had Jerry despite her readiness to snuggle up to another man. It was comfortable to be in a man's arms, and it had initially been to get him to stop feeling sorry for himself and looking at his legs anyway. "Because I'm not your lady love~." She said in a sing-song voice, sighing contently. This was nice.
Maybe a little too nice. He was a very warm man and she was very comfortable.
Candace sighed again, almost sadly now. "I should go, unless you don't mind a trainee taking a nap on you."
