...||Prosperity Engenders Sloth Week of Sloth: Jin Huang A hand twitched in the darkened room as Jin Huang eased his consciousness into control of his host's body. It had started with something simple, Delmin's voice, but gradually everything was becoming used to the dragon. It was not true control, with fluidity of motion, but the imprecise puppeting would be good enough for his purposes today. Although there was a strange and heavy lassitude lying upon him, Jin Huang was determined to retrieve the cache of precious items his demonic servants had long ago hidden nearby. Well - he would not be the one to transport all of it, not at all. Those servants had descendants, and two of them were now returned to his service, and they would do what he could - and would - not. With that pleasant thought to cheer him, Jin Huang jerkily sat up in bed, taking a long pause after each act to catch his breath, as it were. Eventually, he was standing and headed for the door to his room when it suddenly opened in front of him, shocking himself and the demon who stood there. Yes? "Yes?" Delmin croaked out, making Arithon jump. "I..we thought," the young demon eventually stammered out, looking decidely nervous. Jin Huang sighed internally when he didn't continue, and regathered his frayed mastery. Never mind. I have a job for you and Lysander. "Never mind. I have a job for you and Lysander." Looking both wary and attentive, Arithon waited for further commands and was surprised when Jin Huang brushed past him, headed downstairs. "Eh?" he asked intelligently before following. "He's prob'ly asleep in the living room," he offered, feeling a little spiteful. Jin Huang nodded in acknowledgement, a jerky movement that sent a chill down Arithon's spine. There was something off about the man, something the demon couldn't quite put a finger on. It made him extremely uneasy, enough so that he didn't question the speed with which he was obeying. Jin Huang was not the only individual in the household having a hard time controlling his body - though, in Lysander's case, it was through sheer lack of motivation instead of having to reach through an unfamiliar maze of nerves. All of the enchantments he normally kept draped over his person had either been broken or rendered inert, leaving him feeling frustratingly tethered to laws of physics and patterns of nature they were supposed to help him avoid. He was tired, and stubbornly so, feeling terribly bored but unwilling to do anything about it. So he languished on the couch, his head partially exposed thanks to his mask falling apart earlier. A giant mass of dark amber hair spilled onto the cushions and reached towards the floor. He'd been able to cut a strip of cloth from his robes to create a makeshift cover for his face, but his eyes could be seen above it. They were a pinkish shell color, with heavy lashes and lion-like in shape. Really, he still had enough magic in him that he could have altered his appearance some, but he just didn't feel like it. A series of oddly-set footsteps reached his ears. Begrudgingly, he dredged his way up to a sitting position and cast his gaze over to the source of the noise. He was able to keep his eyes open for long enough to recognize the man Jin Huang was occupying. "Delmin Brock... or is it my Lord..." he grumbled, "Did you need something of me?" Jin Huang was somewhat shocked at Lysander's appearance. Obviously no one in the household felt like doing anything. He considered the demons for a moment, then firmed his resolve. Short requests would be best, given Delmin's limited capacity to echo him. Too long a sentence, and the man's voice started to fade out. An annoyance, but one the dragon had yet to overcome. I do indeed. "I do indeed," Delmin rasped, a jerky motion of his hand attempting to tap the gem set in his chest. He missed, of course, but the gesture would hopefully be enough to indicate who was truly speaking. There was always the possibility that the demons would choose to ignore him, and what he would do then, Jin Huang did not know. "An' what is it, then?" Arithon asked in a lazy drawl, leaning against a wall to stare thoughtfully at the back of Delmin's head. It sounded like the mortal, but felt like Futs Lung. That contradiction was enough to sluggishly rouse his curiousity, causing him to carefully probe at the man. "M'Lord," he added sullenly, disgruntled at what he had discovered. Delmin's mind and soul were intact, quiescent enough to allow strands of Jin Huang to puppet the body. My treasure hoard. What has become of it? "My treasure hoard. What has become of it?" Arithon inhaled sharply and cast a warning glance at Lysander. Internally, he struggled with a dilemma. Should he tell the truth, and possibly have to go get the rest? Or say that it was all here, and be able to relax? Perhaps saying that it would be impossible to shift the rubble would be enough to dissuade his Lord from whatever plan he had. A grimace crossed Lysander's half-hidden features when he was able to fully observe the state the Futs Lung and his human were in. It was... disconcerting... to say the very least, to see a once-mighty Dragon King trapped under the weight of a comatose man, pulling at nerves and tendons to get him to move like some sort of burdensome contraption. Knowing who it was he was speaking to, though, he slumped to the floor in a messy bow. "Ah, yes, the treasure hoard..." he slowly began, sighing. "I believe it is still intact, however..." Lysander adjusted his position so he could kneel a bit more comfortably, then continued, "However, the building that had concealed it has collapsed completely, I'm afraid, and... at our current state, Lord, we do not possess the manpower or resources needed to clear the rubble and retrieve it. The effort would be massive, my Lord, too much to bear for these two humble servants of yours..." Voice and countenance dreary and grim, he rose to a standing position once again, spreading his arms in a gesture of helplessness. "And, alas, I cannot access my magic at this point in time, those connections were torn from me by that wave. I beseech your forgiveness for being as useless as I am..." Jin Huang frowned sharply, although the movement was echoed imperfectly by Delmin, creating more of a grimace. Irritable once more, the dragon longed to pace, tail lashing behind him. But Delmin's body would not allow such acts, acting as yet another irritant. Why had Lysander not acted to restore his magics? Surely he would have realized that his services would be required once more. Your limitations are acknowledged. "Your limitations are acknowledged," came the echo, lacking the menace that Jin Huang had put onto his own words. Another snarl echoed within the dragon's mind, though thankfully Delmin kept quiet. If it cannot be brought here, than you must secure it some other way. "If it cannot be brought here, than you must secure it some other way," Delmin said, stumbling over the last few words as Jin Huang's control frayed under the strain of remaining upright. Arithon, still behind the man, rolled his eyes quickly. "O'course," the demon replied, trying to sound enthusiastic about the prospect of work, and failing utterly. "Lysander and I'll have to talk about resources and ev'rything, though." A thoughtful frown creased his face as Jin Huang turned slowly to face him. "We'll take care of it." A jerky nod was his only reply as the dragon shambled over to the stairs to begin the task of ascending them. You had best do so quickly. "You had best do so quickly," he said over his shoulder, disappearing down the hallway to his room. It was only after Arithon's sharp hearing heard the door click shut that he looked once more at Lysander. "Later, though," he said firmly, leaving the living room in order to go back to his own napping. 1365 Words, 2 Solo Points

...||What's Mine is Mine, and Never Yours Week of Envy: Jin Huang Jin Huang was awake when the trumpets sounded, restless despite his body's unwillingness to move. He was pacing, mentally, although the walls of his cage had been pushed back greatly from what they first had been. It was still a source of much irritation that he did not have direct control over Delmin's body and was instead forced to puppet it, lending an awkward air to the man's motion and speech. But the sound of the trumpets banished the thoughts and the dragon tensed, waiting to see what changes, if any, the instruments would herald. For a long moment, nothing presented itself as different, save only that the lethargy he'd been laboring under for the past week fell away. That, at least, was a welcome change, and Jin Huang turned back to his slow conquest of his host's faculties. should be mine The errant thought sent the dragon reeling backwards, sending a brief spasm echoing through Delmin after a few seconds delay. Where had that come from? Distracted, he cracked open his host's eyes and stared warily at the room that slowly came into focus. No, there wasn't anyone in sight, although that didn't mean much, given that he was currently staring at the ceiling. With a grunt of effort, the dragon eventually got Delmin's body sitting upright, finally able to confirm that there really was no one else around. Remaining suspicious, he awkwardly stood, heading for the door and eventually downstairs. it should all be mine When consciousness returned, Jin Huang realized that he'd somehow blacked out and nearly fallen down the stairs. As it was, he was currently sprawled in the upper hallway, one hand draped over the top step. It had been a very close thing, he noted shakily, drawing the arm back to prop himself up. Hopefully neither of his demonic servants had heard him fall, although the lack of prompt attention tended to support that they had not. Thus reassured, he hauled himself back upright, a laborious process and one that left him feeling rather winded at the end. Eyeing the stairs with more than a little distaste, a brief wondering about why he was doing this crossed his mind, only to be dismissed as unimportant. It was far more important that he do this, to find and acquire that which was not his. But first, he should really check on his own treasures to make sure no one had laid so much as a gaze upon that which was already property of the dragon. and it all will be soon It wasn't until he had placed his hand on the door to the room where his small hoard was being kept that the disorientation passed and Jin Huang suddenly and alarmingly found himself unfogged mentally. There had been a shift in the air, the lethargy replaced by something the dragon found himself ill-equipped to fight - jealousy raged throughout him, jealousy of anything anyone else might have and possess even yet. More than that, there was an envy of the others like him and what they had achieved while he had fallen once more into fitful captivity within the gem. That was what he should be doing, learning of the Pantheon and who had been reborn, not wasting his time with these paltry gems (and oh, how it pained him to think that). It was with great effort that he turned from the room that was currently his private treasury and instead turned his steps towards the areas his demonic servants had claimed as their own. He would take one with him to the Pantheon, yes, to speak for him since his speech continued to be echoed through his host. And the other would be sent elsewhere, to see if there were others living around the city. A low rumble of a laugh escaped the dragon as he decided to let them sort out who would do what. It would certainly be entertaining, if nothing else, to watch the already antagonistic demons vie for the honor of accompanying their Lord. 675 Words, 1 Solo Point

...||Fire Meets Possessive Dragon Week of Envy: Jin Huang Cinder moved along rather quickly her heavy boots clicking against the ground once she reached the edge of the area around the pantheon. Erzulie followed along behind Cinder the dark skinned Aoidei had a makeshift staff slung over her shoulder and small device about the size of an Ipod in her other hand holding it gingerly as if afraid to break it. "Alright, this is the Pantheon I know you saw it on your way in. Now I need you to take that information to the others I listed for me. Illumin - though let him rest this night and find him tomorrow as soon as you can. He also meantioned Nergal, who I know is the brother of one of Ankou." Cinder spoke rapidly to the Aoidei and Erzulie being use to being commanded and taking orders watched her solemnly absorbing the orders as she did. Even without responses Cinder felt at least somewhat better knowing someone would be spreading the knowledge and getting things organized. "I can do this, you have also described Ankou's doors to me and I will find those you spoke of. This I swear, I have a map to Illumin's tower as well." Erzulie reached up and touched the top of the device in her hand, "do not worry too much. All will be prepared for your return and my mistress'." After speaking the Aoidei raises her head her ears flickering slightly, her deep green eyes scan the night before speaking to Cinder again. "I believe others are near." There was no immediate sense of alarm as she spoke as the number of people in the area tended to grow and wane at various times but the information was still there. Cinder turned slightly turning to look out into the night as she does. Arithon was the first, immediate draw of attention as he stalked in front another man, reddish hair glinting in the light given off by the still oozing lava flows. Hand on something immediately recognizable as a sword, he was also easily dismissed for what he was: a bodyguard, hanger-on, follower of someone important, not important in and of himself. The man behind him, on the other hand... Where Arithon drew attention, Delmin tended to avoid it, content to slide beneath most people's notice. Especially now. He moved as though asleep, the man's normally smooth gait marred by something interfering with him. This presence, this power, slept lightly within him, leaing its own imprint on the surroundings, easy enough to detect for those able. It worked the other way as well, when a faint flicker of something caused him to stop and turn his head, dark eyes seeking out the faint thrum of sleeping power, hard to detect here, near the epicenter of the Wave. "What is it?" Arithon asked, loud and uncaring if he was overheard by others. There's someone else here. "There's someone else here," Del echoed, sounding dull and unfocused. Arithon tensed and gripped his sword tighter, eyes darting about, seeking whomever shared this night with them. "Who's there?" he called out, voice harsh and abrasive, easily heard, and easily found. Squinting slightly Cinder looks in the direction she hears the voice from, "Hullo, I'm Cinder." She moves forward into a patch of light flickering occasionally as the street lamp attempts to burn itself out. Erzulie peers over toward the voices attempting to make out what she can about them, she did really hope that they were not agressive - as the only weapon she had been able to acquire was a stick. Erzulie moved forward her eyes scanning those that had just arrived, she stood behind Cinder and rested her hands behind her back. Despite her appearance she did in fact give off the feeling of being a bodyguard or back up of some kind. The Aoidei stayed silent letting Cinder and her Mistress speak to the new arrivals. Cinder glanced back at the Pantheon and then to the group she had a feeling that they were heading there which did admittedly make her somewhat curious about them. Hells, perhaps they could help or something. One never knows, lets just see who they are and go from there. Though I do believe they look much like they belong here in a sense.Cinder gestures to Erzulie, "This is Erzulie, are you heading in and who are you?"The various bits of dancing and social protocal were starting to wear on Cinder. She really just felt like grabbing people and demanding they take her to those that actually knew what the hell was going on. Arithon's grip lessened slightly at the introductions; it was rare that anyone meaning harm would take the time to give a name. Not to say it was unheard of, which is why his hand remained where it was. "Arithon," he said back curtly, stopping his approach. "He's Delmin," the demon continued, jerking his head back to the other man, who nodded absently in acknowledgment. We are headed inside. And you? "We are headed inside. And you?" Delmin asked in return. Arithon shifted uneasily at his speech, but didn't make any comment. They were part of the pantheon or knew someone within, Cinder frowned slightly to herself. Something unpleasant was going on and she really would like to find some allies of some sort she just didn't know who to trust and who to not. "Yeah, you know people in there then?" Cinder asked and stepped forward slightly, "because if so I may have some information for you." She'd try what she had earlier, maybe if it was someone that wasn't almost obessively attempting to not believe any of what was happening she would have a better turn out. Erzulie stayed back and to the right of Cinder as she spoke a quiet reassuring presence. The Aoidei's dark eyes flickered over the others gathered studying quietly as they conversed. Delmin's mouth quirked slightly before flattening back out. Arithon shifted on his feet again, wanting this conversation to be over - he wanted things to go back to normal already. Del was, quite frankly, freaking the young demon out. In a manner of speaking. What sort of information? "In a manner of speaking," came the reply, faint hint of dry amusement filtering into the man's voice, where before it had been almost a monotone. "What sort of information?" Could she know something about the Wave and the Crown? Perhaps this woman would know what had happened. Jin Huang's conscious curled tighter around that of his host, eager to hear what she would say. Cinder studied the two a moment, a slight frown on her face in thought. She really didn't know who they were and there was something more then slightly off about them. The pilot frowned thoughtfully to herself, she wasn't sure if the information she had could be used against everyone as a whole but she was sure it was possible. There were likely ones that didn't want things to go well, two camps to the battle - seemed to always be that way when things when to hell; so things would get complicated. Stop balking, you're usually obnoxiously blunt. Just find out who they are and who they are hosting...because I'm guessing at least one is a host or knows a host.Cinder sighed, I just don't want to have to shoot anyone...Erzulie scanned the two she was also fairly certain there was a host among them, realizing that Cinder had paused in such a manner that usually meant she was speaking to her Mistress Erzulie stepped forward to draw attention from the action. Speaking to the two, "lets not have our voices carry, and take a moment to figure out who everyone is." There was an extra enuciation in her sentence, if they were part of the pantheon hopefully they picked it up. Cinder snapped out of her inner monologue when she realized Erzulie was speaking. She glanced up and turned her hands slighlty, she recognized the bodyguard for what they were. Years of working on the rougher space ports had taught her more then enough to recognize that, and she was offering him the curtesy of making his job somewhat easier. Her gun was in a shoulder holster but she had shown him she had no hidden weapons. Arithon's attention snapped to the Aoide as she spoke, and a sheepish look crept onto his face. "Forgot the rest," he muttered. "Delmin, host to Jin Huang, the Dragon King Futs Lung." I wish Lysander was here, the aforementioned King muttered unhappily. Much more tactful. Don't repeat that, he tacked on swiftly, forestalling his host's attempt to do just that. "So who does that make you?" Arithon asked, curious now. He'd not yet met another of the gods reborn, and Del hadn't really been a font of information, even before the Wave. Relaxing even more at the flame haired woman's show of peace, Ari finally let go of his sword, letting his hand fall back to his side. What do you know of the Crown? "What do you know of the Crown?" Del asked, Jin's anxiety leaking through. Ordinarily, he would have enjoyed the exchange of pleasantries, but the Wave had unsettled him and driven the pair towards the Pantheon. His other demonic servant had been sent to find out information, leaving only Arithon to guard the still mortal Dragon. While not as obviously and (in his mind) obnoxiously attached to the Emperor as some of his brothers, Jin was still a Dragon King, and he needed to know what had happened. Once the bit about the other group being a host was out in the air Cinder relaxed, Erzulie did as well. Cinder had figured that much so far but wasn't sure she could take chances anymore. The dragon kings had been spoken of in the writings so she hoped that meant that they would in fact be on their side - if there was really any sides anymore. Before Cinder had a chance to respond over who exactly else she was Karaskis took the oppurtunity to answer herself. Karaskis wanted full control over the vessel and for a moment there was envy and jealousy in that thought and then she spoke for herself, "Cinder is my host. I am Karaskis goddess of fire. It is a pleasure to meet you, we have actually heard some of the dragon kings but as of yet we are not sure where that lays in with our own research and dealings."Once Karaskis spoke there was a moment and then Cinder took control of her body again looking somewhat pale, "the twin crown is Harmodius correct? From what I have been able to find out that seems to be the main jist of it. As for what happened to him...it seems he was stabbed and Destruction took over. Now others started at the time when this first happened to work on figuring out how to help him, but they never returned. I'm actually going to be heading out soon to hopefully help finish that." Cinder sighed slightly attempting to keep in line what she actually needed to say and what she didn't. "I'm not sure what that shockwave thing was however, but I have a feeling it doesn't bode well before I leave I was going to hopefully grab someone from inside and see what they could tell me." Cinder glanced over looking up at the obsidion structure behind her. Del's eyes narrowed slightly at Karaskis' words, a reaction to the dragon's own response. Goddess of Fire? Again, Jin sighed internally at the thought of all the opportunities lost due to the current crisis, whatever shape that might be taking. He didn't respond for a moment, mulling over what had been said. "Fix 'im? How so?" came Arithon's question, not having entirely grasped the gravity of the situation. Where will you go? "Where will you go?" Jin wanted, oh how he wanted to both go with this woman - no, this host - and yet remain here, in case there was something he could do as a King for his Lord. Harmodius was paramount, was All, and Jin's very nature tore at him, warring desires fighting for dominance. Cinder studied the two a moment watching the host, she was fairly certain he was speaking with his god. She wondered if all the hosts would spot that trait in one another. Then in an action unprompted and perhaps a bit startling to Karaskis Cinder spoke to her and gave her an option. Should I tell him of it or would you like it? Cinder had thought that it was likely that Karaskis may have sway with some of the reborn deities that she would not. For now you speak to him, tell him of what you have learned."Alright, I'm not sure fixing is the correct term. But after getting ahold of the journal of the one that originally started the search; Harmodius spoke of someone a lover. This lover was a mortal but he was given an immortality of sorts the ability to be reborn each time he died and then be found again by Harmodius. Now this was not just a favored lover; Harmodius said that his presence was what helped to balance between Creation and Destruction. Before Destruction fully took hold he charged the goddess of Medicine to find Astrigonian, the lost lover." Cinder sighed a moment she knew this was likely coming out in jumbles, she just hoped it was making some sort of sense. "Panacea was able to find that Astrigonian had been split into seven parts. Two of which she herself went after. Others have gone after the other pieces, but I plan to go and find those pieces that Panacea was after." Cinder frowned faintly tugging her long braid around her shoulder, "and where will I go, to space. I'm going to go to space, the pieces were last seen on a pirate ship. The Athenia, luckily for well those interested before I was a host to a goddess I was in the same line of work. And I'm a pilot."Anyone else would think I'm a nutters, Cinder thought to herself. Not long ago you would have thought you are nutters hearing someone go on like that.Arithon's eyes were nearly crossed as he attempted to process all of the information being presented. An errant thought crept in, one echoing his Lord's from earlier: I wish Lysander was here... Shaking that off - damned mage wasn't any use most of the time - Ari cast a sidelong glance at Del, who was standing still, apparently deep in thought. A brief shudder ran through the demon. He knew the truth of the matter, and thought was far from what the man was doing. Aristogeiton? I am familiar with the name. "Aristogeiton? I am familiar with the name," Del said in reply, no hint of an expression appearing on his face. Jin realized this and snarled lightly. His control was weakening, allowing Del to slip away once more. I had not thought to hear that name again in this life, he mused to himself, settling mental coils loosely about Del's psyche once more. I would offer my aid, but I am not fit for the rigors of travel. "I would offer my aid, but I am not fit for the rigors of travel," Del repeated, although it wasn't at all obvious that's what he was doing. Arithon looked between the two hosts, and heaved a sigh. "Pirates are gonna want to get paid," he said, frowning. "Y'got a plan for that?" Cinder watched Del a moment, there seemed to be something strange with the host and the god there. Then again well everything is a bit strange now a days, she'd worry about the host some other time when there weren't more pressing matters. Cinder glanced to Arithon as he spoke a slight frown on her face, "that's a trick of it there. And even if you have something to trade them they might just think it's a better idea to take everything you have and perhaps even yourself. I really don't have much to offer so I'm considering a less then savory approach if needed." Cinder rolled her shoulders in irritation. Your not allowed to go off and get us killed you know.Erzulie turned slightly looking over at Cinder a deep frown on her face. If there was going to be fighting and her goddess was part of it she wanted to be there. With Karaskis and now Erzulie showing their distaste with the idea, not that Cinder was too keen on it anyways she looked over toward Arithon again, "You have something in mind then?" Cinder had considered the 'Pirate' he'd likely have some idea but with the way things were she wasn't too sure he would be overly keen on seeing her as it is. Arithon rubbed the back of his head somewhat sheepishly; he could just imagine the sort of look Lysander would be shooting him now, mask notwithstanding. They had recently recovered a vault that had belonged to Futs Lung previously, and had intended for it to be presented to the Crown. At least, that had been Jin Huang's intention. But now...? "We might be able t'pay them off," he said, shifting uneasily. It would be a good use of the gold and jewels. "It would be a good use of the gold and jewels," came the Dragon's input. Jin had divined Arithon's idea quite easily, and after a brief moment of soul-searching (it went against quite a few instincts to let any treasure out of his grasp), relented and acknowledged the inherent value of it. I trust you'd be able to keep things under control. "I trust you'd be able to keep things under control," was Jin's diplomatic reply. Once again, he would have to make a choice - to stay, or to go. Cinder quirked a brow, it seemed they did have an idea. "Right, that might actually work. But we would have to meet them on grounds where they usually do business. That will allow us to be seen as potential contacts and buyers rather then potential victims." Cinder glanced to the sky the night was wasting away and she had better see to getting the ship soon so they could actually get this underway. "We will be attempting to get three things from the pirates, bones, the amulet Harmodius use to wear. I have a description of it if you don't remember it and apparently an actual person. The person is suppose to be upon the Athenia as well." Cinder rested her hands on her belt a moment looking over at the other two, "any resources you want to put toward this is more then welcome. And well it's your investment if you want to come along I won't keep you from it. Though," Cinder gestures to Del. "If you can't travel...we could figure something out. Or well, Erzulie is staying behind...someone needs to be here to help gather up the others and the pieces they have. So when we do get back they can hopefully be put together."We protect our riches and that which is dear to us. He may need more convincing or at the very least to be with us, do not be surprised if he accepts your invitation to go.Arithon glanced at Del, who didn't respond immediately. Eventually, however, he gave a brief, curt nod. Arithon sighed in relief, then looked at Cinder. "We'd be able t' offer somethin' for payment." I regret that I can not travel with you. Instead, Arithon here would take charge of the treasure. "I regret that I can not travel with you," Del repeated dutifully, not blinking. "Instead, Arithon here would take charge of the treasure." The aforementioned demon puffed up proudly for a moment. On the one hand, it would be something to rub in Lysander's face, that Jin trusted him enough to transport some of the Dragon's treasure. On the other, he'd be gone for who knew how long, and that would only give Lysander more of an edge. "When're you plannin' on leavin'?" Arithon asked, anxious to get this over with. Cinder looked to Arithon and nodded after a moment, "Alright, that works then. I'm not sure all that you will need but get it together. Ship hopefully leaves tomorrow by noon. I don't want to waste too much time. Feels like it is already getting away from me."Cinder looked over to Erzulie, "While I'm gone Erzulie has the duty of helping gather up those that already have the some of the pieces." Cinder frowned a moment as if considering. Karaskis already having in mind what Cinder may say chose that moment to take over and speak for her. "Jin Huang, if you do not go against our main directive to rebuild the once love of Harmodius. Erzulie will be at your disposal until I return if you should need her aid while you gather your information. She has a communicator so she will be able to contact us if needed." The voice was duskier and somewhat more in general as was the case whenever Karaskis spoke. Erzulie inclined her head slightly, she would do this if the god required as her Mistress commanded. Among the followers of Karaskis there were a variety of personalities but in the end loyalty was the most important in all and that is what Erzulie had, she was just more capable in general if needed. Cinder slipped back into control and spoke again, "once you have what you need gathered meet at the house across the lake. That is my home, and where we will be leaving some. There will be," Cinder paused a moment not sure how to describe what the Aoidei were but then continued, "she is like Erzulie, her name is Kalfyra. She can get you food and whatever else but be there by noon tomorrow. Jin Huang, Erzulie can give you more detailed notes of what all we are working on perhaps you can find something more in them. But if not the information just needs to be shared as it is."Arithon looked pleased. Not only was his Lord trusting him, he was finally going to see some action! All they'd done so far was talk, and do things with houses, and it had all been very boring to the demon. I support any effort to restore the Crown to what is right. Arithon shall meet you there, with the payment. "I support any effort to restore the Crown to what is right," Del said, a hint of firmness entering his previously flat voice. Jin was actually quite indifferent to Aristogeiton, but if that was what the Crown desired, than that was what needed to be brought back to Him. "Arithon shall meet you there, with the payment." A pang of regret went through Jin's mind; he hated having to give up any small piece of his treasure, but once more Harmodius' wants took precedence. "How much d'you think would be best?" Arithon wasn't sure as to what these pirates would think was fair price for what they'd be trying to get, and he'd prefer to get a...professional's advice. I would appreciate the information. "I would appreciate the information," Del continued gravely. Having the details on hand would be quite beneficial. Perhaps the specifics would spark a memory within him, something of use. Cinder frowned somewhat in thought at Arithon's question. She wasn't familiar with the pirates of the Athenia, and she had no idea who the person they were suppose to go after is. "Right well, the necklace is fairly flashy in and of itself. Us wanting that specifically will drive the price up as it is. If we met to deal and were just interested in pilfered jewels that's a bit different then wanting a specific item. Because a specific item means that they can charge you more and since you want it you will pay." Cinder drumed her fingers over her belt thoughtfully with a slight frown of thought sending a slight query to Karaskis as she did. This is not my department, I am a goddess I am not accustomed to buying things."So something flashy jewelry wise or if you have basic gold bars those work fairly decently through the galaxy. Clear cut jewels as well, now when it comes to the bones there is no telling what they will want for those. Because by themselves they will fair not a good price to most." Cinder sighs slighty, "and the last is the person. Now the person is going to be intersting; mostly because we don't know who they are. If they are a slave of the pirates we likely will be able to buy them however if it's a crew member we may have to convince the person...or abduct them. Of course the last is an option I would rather avoid but am not against actually doing if I must." Cinder sighed, "an actual break down of prices, I'd say the amulet would be at least one to two clear cut gems, and three gold bars. A sack of gold coins is also impressive to look at as well. The bones if we play the story off right shouldn't be too expensive so perhaps another gem. And the person can be anywhere from a small sack of gems to five to eight gold bars depending on the quality of the 'slave'; however they may not be a slave thus creating the real issue. If we end up having to abduct someone we may not pay for any of it. But the ability to pay will open avenues we wouldn't of had before. So that is more or less the best breakdown I can give you."Erzulie had stepped over toward Del as Cinder spoke standing much like a soldier would at attention. Once there was a lull she spoke to Del directly, "I have the notes here with me, I can show you now or print you off a copy and sent to your rooms in the Pantheon or wherever you are choosing to stay at this time."Once again, Arithon's eyes went a little crossed as he listened to the deluge of information. He wasn't sure how what Cinder had listed off would translate from the treasure they had on hand, but the demon was fairly certain Jin Huang would be able to figure it all out. He was, after all, the Treasurer for a reason. That sounds fair. "That sounds fair," Del said after the dragon had had a moment to think and process the relative values of the items. They'd be able to cover that, plus a little extra just in case. It digs a little deeply into what we found, but I can spare it, Jin mused, idly wishing Delmin hadn't gone quite so catatonic after the Wave. It was so...awkward, to puppet him thusly. "We'll get it all sorted out, and packed away," Ari said confidently, already sorting through the available containers. A copy, if you please. We have no residence within the Pantheon. Our house is not far from here, easily distinguished from the others by its state of repair. "A copy, if you please," Del requested politely. "We have no residence within the Pantheon. Our house is not far from here, easily distinguished from the others by its state of repair," he continued, one arm raising stiffly to point the direction out.

...||One For You, Three For Me Week of Envy: Jin Huang/Arithon The treasure was piled on the table, carefully according to Jin Huang's instructions. It would not do to carelessly stack them with each other, scratching the gems against themselves and damaging them, lowering the value. Small bars of gold and platinum were stacked in a pyramid near the other end, waiting to be counted and tallied before the dragon made a decision about what was to go where. There was one gem, a large diamond wrapped with white gold, that had been set aside entirely. "And th'emeralds?" Arithon asked patiently, spreading out the small pile so his master could see them clearly. Jin Hunag made a few awkward motions, indicating the division among them; the larger amount would stay with him, but the ones Arithon would be taking with were of high quality, despite the low number. The other gems were divided in near silence, broken only when the young demon asked about a particular stone. Jin Huang was unwilling - or unable - to speak easily using his host's pilfered body. It remained a point of frustration for the dragon that he was unable to overcome this last subconscious block Delmin had placed in front of him. Hard enough to puppet the body naturally enough, but the strange delays in speech were harder to dismiss. Is there anything else? "Is there anything else?" Delmin asked, sounding dull and tired, slumping forward slightly as the dragon's control loosened under the strain and exhaustion Jin Huang was feeling after such an extended session. "Just th'last diamond," Arithon replied, trying not to let his concern show. His Lord had been pushing himself to even attempt to make it to the Pantheon, let alone hold a conversation, short as that had been. It would benefit no one if he went past his limits and drained away all of his - or Delmin's - energy, leaving them all worse off than before. With a shake of his head, the demon picked up the stone, holding it gingerly in one hand, having remembered to pick up the small cloth it had been sitting on this time. Take it with you. "Take it with you," came the reply after a long moment. He had debated the choice this entire time, wanting to keep such an exquisite piece for himself, but it was entirely likely such a gem would be useful in negotiations. And if it was used, than perhaps more of the rest would return to him. Arithon nodded acquiescence, and wrapped the gem carefully, to prevent damage to and from it. The other gems were bagged, each in it's own. These were quickly gathered and stowed in a pack the young demon slung across his back once everything was prepared. "If there's nothing else, I'll b'off then," Arithon said as he adjusted the strap carefully, not watching as Jin Huang's control eroded further, Delmin's body slouching forward even more. No. Be safe. "No. Be safe," the man echoed, words slurring together slightly. Arithon barely suppressed a shudder as he left and wished that Lysander had returned, in order to tend to the dragon. In the end, the demon made it safely to Cinder's house and boarded the ship, having avoided the larger groups of people and and scaring off many others with the threat of his katana.

...||Envy Never Dies Week of Envy: Jin Huang Jin Huang slouched at the table. More accuarely, Delmin slouched at the table, and Jin Huang sat coiled within his mind, trying to recover his strength. He had, perhaps, spent overmuch of it today. There was benefit, to be sure, but he was not quite convinced that the expenditure would pay off in the long run. And he was, frankly, terrified that he had in fact used up too much of his power and would fail once again. Only this time, failure was entirely too certain to be permanent. There would be no third chance, as there was probably not enough of Futs Lung left among the worlds that was not already lost or contained within Delmin and the gem. And there was no Harmodious to recall him to himself, to carefully gather the remnants of his power and infuse them into this solid form. The Twin Crown was lost as well, changed somehow so that Jin Huang could not feel Him. Something else brooded in the Throne Room, though what it was, the dragon had no wish to think about. Half-remembered words and images spoke not of what had happened, nor clearly of what would happen. But unease clung heavily to the Dragon King. He had sent Arithon off earlier to aid in some quest or another in an attempt to restore the Crown, and that was a worthy task. But it left him currently unattended, Lysander still not having returned from his task. And he could really use some help getting up the stairs and into bed. So Jin Huang slouched at a ramshackle table, irritation ticking ever higher with every moment that passed alone. Lysander had better return, and soon. Or else there might not be much left of the Dragon King he served. Eventually, though, he dozed off after pillowing his head on Delmin's arms. He hadn't intended to sleep, but thoughts of what Arithon was doing, as well as mental tallies of what remained of the hoard, eventually was enough to send him into a rather deep slumber. After an uncertain amount of time, he woke, startled enough at the lack of discomfort to open his eyes and look around. Apparently Lysander had come back and found him, as he was currently comfortably in his proper bed. Well, that was good. Though how the mage had gotten him upstairs was probably a mystery best left unsolved. Jin Huang let Delmin's eyes close once more. Sleep was what he needed now, rest and recovery from the exertions of the day. Lysander's inevitable questions would have to wait, as would explanations. Jin Huang was supremely disinclined to do anything, except go back to sleep. And why not? There was no urgency for any other task to be found with the dragon, only a strong desire to go back to sleep. Failing that, he would settle for once more doing an inventory of everything he possessed. This was, once more, enough to get him to sleep, filled with a vague dissatisfaction and a feeling that surely he deserved better than that.

...||The One Who Came Before Week of Lust: Jin Huang He sat in the chair by the window, staring moodily out into the night in the general direction of the Pantheon. Through great effort, Jin Huang ignored the loose spring poking at him, unwilling to spend the energy required to shift the body of his host in order to alleviate the discomfort. He was waiting for something to happen, something he idly hoped would not, but somehow knew would. What it signified, the dragon didn't know, or remember, only aware that it was something he should pay attention to. He had heard the trumpet's call twice already, filling him with a great sense of dread and a certain amount of distaste as an undeniably foreign influence crept over everything. He waited like this nearly every night, uncertain of the timetable this unknown trumpeter followed. He had dozed off when the trumpet sounded, as always muted and far-off sounding. Unconsciously Jin Huang tensed, mind flickering rapidly over the possibilities for what this week's unwelcome stimulus could be. Whatever he had pegged as likely was quickly discarded as a small, soft moan escaped him at the wave of sheer desire that washed over everything; not the familiar and natural desire of a dragon to hoard, this. This was something else entirely, something that made his hand spasm and clench tightly to the arm of his chair. This made Jin Huang feel vaguely unclean and he closed his eyes in attempt to focus and block out the images that were dancing through his head. --a flash of green eyes and blonde hair, staring angrily at him, eyes that shifted to violent purple, with an entirely different emotion held within-- The dragon's eyes snapped open, breathing heavily. That had been...He hadn't thought he'd kept any memories...he hadn't wanted to keep any memories! Feeling panicked and constrained, he attempted to stand, only to find that his energy had recoiled from Delmin's body back into the gem, leaving only slight control instead of the near-full mastery he'd achieved earlier. He snarled, the sound coming out weakly from a mouth that was still not his own. This wasn't how he thought it would go.His eyes flickered open and he ran an absent hand through his hair. He stopped, midway through the motion and brought the arm back down, extending it out in front of him to stare at it in shock. No! This arm, this tattoo, this dragon in red and spiraling up his arm... This was not his any longer. His hand started shaking as he stared, letting it fall back down, closing his eyes again. Maybe he'd snap out of this nightmare. Yu Huang opened his eyes lazily, yawning. That had been a strange dream, one about No, this wasn't right but that wasn't important right now. There was a strange energy flowing about, one that made himNO left the warehouse, hands stuffed in pockets while whistling an off key (with very dirty lyrics) tune. He had only a vague idea where he was headed, with such intent, but it would beSTOP. This ended, in fire, in pain, in my your death, coiling what remained back within the gem, to be found eventually byYou think too loudly. It was a sleepy voice, one full of exhaustion and pain, and yet it managed to be tinged with good-natured sarcasm. It was a voice Jin Huang hadn't heard since the first Wave, and the dragon dove for it like a lifeline, something that could save him from the not-quite memories he'd been subjected to. Who was that? Delmin asked as the scene faded away like morning mist, leaving Jin Huang back in his own host's body, quickly raising an arm to check. With a heavy sigh, he lowered it back down, dusky brown skin marked with black tattoos verifying the truth of the situation. "No one important. You should go back to sleep," the dragon said softly, echoes of pain still coming off the man's damaged psyche. Are you sure? A rumbled affirmative was all it took to send him back into unconsciousness, trusting the dragon to keep him safe and whole until Delmin was ready to face the world again. For his part, Jin Huang remained seated in the chair until the sun rose, lost in thought and memories he had believed beyond repair before stiffly returning to his bed and falling into a troubled sleep.

...||Regarding Demons and Temptation Week of Lust: Arithon Arithon shifted uncomfortably in his chair, foot nudging the simple pack he had been charged to keep safe. He'd quite lost track of the days since they'd all boarded the ship. While the passage of time was not something the young demon was particularly interested in normally, he was curious as to how long this trip would keep him separated from his Lord. It made him uneasy, to think of Jin Huang in such a vulnerable state, with only a d'Illionas mage to safeguard him. If he was going to be completely honest, however, Arithon was forced to admit that Lysander was perfectly capable of protecting the weakened and still mortal Dragon King. It just didn't sit right, leaving like that and seemingly abandoning his family's former duty. As the only d'Arristos currently in service, it wasn't as if he could entrust such care to a proper replacement. No, the mage would just have to do the best he could until Arithon could return to reshoulder his family's long-neglected duty. That was another gnawing worry, of course. Lysander could not manage to contact the rest of their clan, and of course Jin Huang's mortal host was entirely useless for that sort of thing. Privately, Arithon considered Delmin useless for most anything, although both his older brother and his lord had seen something worthwhile in the rather abrasive human. Dwelling on the perceived faults of Futs Lung's chosen vessel for rebirth was certainly easier than thinking about his family and his clan. While at first, the desire to contact them was borne of a desire to share the news that Futs Lung had been found, it was now a matter of urgency and concern for their health and well-being. Jin Huang had promised to take them all back into his service, if the individual demon was so inclined, and surely that would offer them some protection from whatever fresh disaster now plagued the Worlds. It was to avert what had been soberly called the End of Everything that had set Arithon on board the spaceship, pack full of precious metals and gems in tow. He'd been sent for lack of anyone else, and the demon nervously hoped that someone among his erstwhile traveling companions would be handling whatever negotiations he was carrying the payment for. He was more aware, now, of his own short-comings, and knew that he would not make the best spokesperson. He was a much better fighter, suited to being a guard - which was exactly what he wanted to be, and under normal circumstances, what he would be. Not this gallivanting off in space, leaving his lord essentially alone and undefended. Sighing, he leaned back and closed his eyes, reaching out with his mind, something of only limited and highly specific utility for him. While many demons did not need to eat in the conventional sense, they still required energy of some sort. Like many others, the demons of Arithon's clad fed on souls, or failing that, emotions. This, of course, had necessitated a means for detecting such things, and it was this awareness that Arithon now spread outward. It was almost funny, really. He hadn't left his cabin since arriving on board, not even to peer outside as they'd launched. So he didn't know the others, not really; this brief mental exercise the only significant contact he'd had with them. Except the woman who had sparked his lord's interest in this excursion, and her servant who had escorted him on board, of course. Even with them, it was only cursory, and the demon abruptly realized he was lonely. This exile he had chosen was largely self imposed; while not un-social, Arithon had been entrusted with a rather significant portion of Futs Lung's available treasure, and as such, he would not leave it unattended. Not even here, among tentative allies. Firmly setting aside such thoughts, Arithon refocused. Recently, every time he'd done this, he'd been buffeted by a storm of emotions. There was an unpleasant undercurrent to it all, a not quote distinct flavor that lent an unpleasant taste to everything. The demon was unsure what was causing it, but the malevolent strain appeared to create an overabundance of emotion - usually a specific one, that seemed to change on an unknown timeline. There was a vague thought that it perhaps had something to do with the End everyone was committed to stopping, but Arithon shied away from drawing such conclusions. A dizzying wave washed over him, causing him to curse under his breath. Focus. Once he had regained equilibrium, a spike in emotional intensity from someone on board caught his attention, and he sampled it curiously, without consideration for the flavor of the week he'd already noticed. It took only a moment before Arithon's cheeks were flaming red, shutting down the brief contact, as well as most of his empathic senses, out of reflexive embarrassment. Normally, he'd have asked permission for what he was doing - or attempting to do - but given the extraordinary circumstances, the demon viewed it as something beneficial for his shipmate's mental health. The overcharged emotions would eventually damage them, something that he had seen only once within his clan. Still, the spark of what he had sampled and gathered was enough for now, and it was with another sigh that he shifted himself onto the floor, finally settling into a meditative pose before beginning the process of filtering and processing.

...||Not Quite Business As Usual Week of Lust: Jin Huang It was surprising, perhaps, how quiet a place could be when there were only two people within it. Arithon had not been gone for all that long, only a few days or so, but the house seemed so much smaller without the brash demon's personality filling it. Lysander had become somewhat taciturn and withdrawn, an effect Jin Huang had not anticipated. In point of fact, actually, he had not seen the mage since before Arithon had left. An uneasy feeling crept over him as he thought about the last time he'd seen Lysander. It had been before Arithon left, as the other demon had gone off to do something that Jin Huang could not quite remember. Of course, Lysander did tend to be vague and somewhat mysterious about his personal affairs. He quickly shuffled himself upright in bed, disturbed. He hadn't seen Lysander about but there were certainly indications that someone was not only living in the house with him, but also subtly taking care of him. There were usually things about that indicated someone was interested in his welfare - small meals left prepared, the house itself staying clean. Well, as clean as it could be, anyway. This was a minor concern, however, one that was quickly washed away by a rising tide of concern. How had he not noticed the change? Again, this was a thought shoved to the back of his mind. All of that was a consideration for later, after the intruder had been caught and Lysander's fate determined. Hopefully the young demon was alright. The unexpected burst of sentimentality swept through him, leaving behind a growing irritation. Delmin's influence, no doubt. While Jin Huang did not remember the Xi'Yong serving him before, certainly he had a vague awareness that Futs Lung did not encourage closeness with his servants. It was only when a sharp rap at the front door startled him that he realized he'd been lost in his thoughts again. So easily distracted lately. Grumbling slightly at the necessity, Jin Huang left the bed and his room, stopping his progress when he heard the low murmur of voices below. Furthering his suspicions, neither one matched Lysander's almost sing song cadence. There was no quiet way for him to descend the stairs, given his relatively loose control over Delmin's body. Still, he made an effort to do so as the voices continued talking. Ideally, he'd be able to surprise whoever had taken up residence in his house. He'd made it to the bottom of the stairs when the front door clicked shut. Instinctively he froze, listening to the careful tread of whomever had answered the door. There was an unfamiliar heaviness to the footsteps, along with a hollow echo, as if they were not properly feet. It took only a moment before he was able to see her, and when he did, his breath caught in his throat. She had shoulder length hair, in a sort of golden bronze color that matched her furred ears and the tuft of hair on her tail. The sounds of her walking were easily explained by the hooves she balanced easily on. There were a pair of horns atop her head that spiraled only slightly. Her dusky black skin was, to Jin Huang's mind, scandalously only covered by a decorative loin cloth and a loose tank top. The maddening thing was that she looked familiar, in the way that someone in a dream often does. She hadn't noticed him yet, intent as she was on reading one part of a thick stack of papers. Anger began to flicker through him, burning through the need to figure out why he recognized her. "Do you always read other people's mail?" he asked, a low growl following the question. The sound of his voice surprised him, as he had not really expected to speak. Clearly, it surprised her as well, as she jumped backwards with a startled squeak. The majority of the papers fell to the floor while the one she had been reading was clutched to her rather ample chest, crumpling it slightly. He scowled while she gaped at him, gasping for breath. He was trying, mostly successfully, to ignore the way her chest was heaving. "Well?" he barked. She finally stopped her panting and drew herself into a more respectable posture. "As part of my duties, yes." Her reply was dignified enough, though her voice was breathy and tremulous. Which only served to stoke his fury higher. He paced towards her, stopping abruptly after only a few steps as a sense of something wrong, something missing swept over him. A quick mental inventory revealed that he had been so caught him in himself that he thought there should be a tail lashing behind him. The absence struck him rather forcefully, draining most of his anger. "Would you care to explain that remark?" Jin Huang asked in a more courteous tone of voice. She had backed into a wall as he advanced, but at his sudden stop and more reasonable tone she took a step forward while looking confused and hurt. "My lord? I am Xu Yong." As Jin Huang evinced no lightning recognition triggered by the name, she looked even more crestfallen. Indeed, the only reaction he really had was to make his expression even blanker. "I'm afraid you'll have to elaborate on that as well," he replied with only a brief flicker of his eyes. "If that name was supposed to mean anything to me?" At her brief, hopeful, nod, he let out a small sigh. "It does not. So. Explain, please."She took a distractingly deep breath and began to speak. Of things long past, of Aoide and servants, although the dragon got the impression there were significant portions she was glossing over. It was enough, however, to paint a broad picture that rather neatly implied that she did have the right to read his mail. Or at least, she had had that right in the past and was rather hoping to have that carried forward. Jin Huang sighed. "Why don't we talk about it? After I read whatever was delivered." Letters sent to a select few by Erzulie To the Lady or Lord that it may concern,
My Mistress Karaskis has put upon me the duty of making sure that those that were working toward the goal of restoring Aristogeiton have the same information as herself. Recently her host has studied a journal left by Panacea so that the trail to the pieces she was after could be followed. Notes from Panacea's Journal ¤Description of the Pendant: Six rays a perfect number 1+2+3 and was encircled by gold with iron and iron. Runes with the inscription "'I love thee Untarnished, Unwithered, make us free Love being quest and quarrel, that you may always find me." Pendant should help find the pieces of Aristogeiton. ¤Panacea wrote of a conversation with Harmodius where he speaks of Aristogeiton being able to balance Creation and Destruction. ¤There seem to be seven pieces in all that will be needed to restore him. ¤There are two pieces that Panacea herself was going after. ¤Bones and scales of some sort ¤An actual person (Cinder and my Mistress hope the pendant can help point them out) ¤The ship Panacea is said to have the items on last is called the Athenia, that is where my Mistress is heading. My Mistress has left to retrieve the items and hopefully the pendant, she has taken others with her as well. I have a communicator that can contact her if anyone has need to do so. *Directions for Cinder's home are left in detail*
I've also included copy of other notes that you may or may not have.
Numbers Fragment I think of numbers. The numbers 2, 3, 5, 7 and 9 all have power.
The Twin Crown. Two hands to Creation, simplicity in the left hand Life, and the right hand of Anima. Three horns of destruction, five are the primordials. Gaia, Light, Darkness, Universe and Time. Seven are the Influences of the End, the domains of Destruction. Nine are the kings of all, the greatest of dragons and guardians of the Pearl which fashioned All.
What of the nothing, the zero that I see in the back of his eyes? aught, cipher, nadir, naught, nullity, oblivion. Or is it Infinity? I wake in the night with numbers in my mind. Nihility. There should be no numbers there. There was nothing before there was He. Or He was in it. He was it. But Became and in becoming locked that away and should be something else. It should not be accessible.
Or is it beyond in the further reaches, held out from all of us Younger that we should not toy with such things? Storm Fragment This will be the last thing I ever write. there is a storm coming
Is it sadness? Despair? Pensive sits in my stomach like a carrion bird, swallowing up for me any appetite I may have for nourishment. There is sickness in it. But it is not an ailment that will help Plague. My arms shake, and War is not in them.
a sword fallen from the hand will always point north

It will be beyond the beyond. His foster sons, their lights are dimming. I'll take the key and hide it. Or
Leave the key as a lantern, displayed for all but locked away but for one hand. One claw. When it is needed, the barrier may draw it forth. Claw Fragment What are the runes and names We call? ...||Self Be True Week of Greed: Jin Huang It had been difficult for Jin Huang to sleep at all, this past week. Whenever he started to doze, a mocking laugh and the flash of emerald green eyes danced their way through his consciousness. Taken on it's own, the not quite memories would have been no more than an annoyance, but when combined with an extreme lack of sleep and the miasmic influence that recalled such things, it led to an increasingly irritable Dragon King. The return of one of his Aoide, Xu Yong, had only exacerbated the situation, although she had attempted otherwise. Exhaustion had become the only means by which Jin Huang could sleep, and that was how he came to be asleep as the trumpets rang once more. The sound had just started to fade while the dragon stirred towards wakefulness, sleep fogged mind still aware of what that signified. There was a pattern to these weeks, a change in mental atmosphere heralded by the cry of the trumpets, but it was not yet one that Jin Huang had puzzled out. So while the last echoes of both music and emotion faded, he found himself expecting a new influence spread across everything. Several moments passed, and he found himself thinking about the treasure he had been forced to leave behind in the aftermath of that first, destructive Wave. While Lysander and Arithon had been tasked with retrieving it all, he now doubted that they had, in fact, done so. When he realized what he was doing - carefully counting in his mind all that might have been left behind, methodically categorizing it by value - Jin Huang let out a low amused chuckle, echoed a moment later by a raspy distortion from his host. There had been a change, and it had come as suddenly as the others. This week's power was obvious, to one such as he. Greed. That ancient instinct to hoard, refined by the Crown to serve Him, had sharply awoken within the dragon. All dragons shared that nature, to some extent, but privately Jin Huang thought that none of his siblings had embraced it so cleanly and openly as he had. Amused and fond memories drifted slowly through his mind for several moments before the dragon noticed the hint of something other in the influence. There was power there, but that had been true previously. No, this was different - there was purpose there, a force to guide and master the power. Struggling upright, he thought furiously. Could it be? Could...He shook his head sluggishly, snarling irritation that the body would still not respond as he would like. That must change. Especially if...No. No, he would not... He would not get his hopes up. He would go the Pantheon, and see what there was to see, but he would not, could not think on what that tug, that near compulsion to head that way meant. Aware of the call, Jin Huang was capable of ignoring it, weakened though he might be. But that would be a near betrayal of who and what he was, and that would never do. Not for this. Having fought Delmin's body into getting out of bed, Jin Huang made a rough effort to make himself presentable. Yes, his clothes were rumpled, and his hair untamed, but without assistance, it was the best he could do. And he was not about to call for Lysander or Xu Yong, certain that either of the two would attempt to tag along on his visit to the Pantheon. He did not wish for anyone else to be present when he appeared before the Throne and whoever might be seated upon it. At least, none of his retainers. It would be strange to find no hangers-on, especially if that compulsion held true. After making it down the stairs, and outside, with no issues from either servant, Jin Huang doubled back with a groan to rifle through his carefully gathered hoard. To go before Greed Enthroned with no offering? That would be daring indeed.

...||The Affairs of Dragons Week of Greed: Jin Huang Delmin approached the Pantheon alone this time, Jin Huang having decided to leave his servants behind. It was risky to travel like this, his host still unresponsive, but the dragon had decided that the greater risk lay in bringing them with him. While he held himself as being relatively sacrosanct during this Week, of all Weeks, he had no such hopes for those bound to his service. It was, however, with a significantly lighter attitude that he made his way to the Throne Room. Of all the Dragon Kings, Jin considered himself most in tune with the nature of Greed. They all had within them that primal desire to hoard and to gather, but he alone was charged with doing so on a much larger scale. It was during this happy train of thought that Del's body awkwardly shuffled to a stop before running into the fleeing Tian Yue. Excuse me. "Excuse me," Del said absently, echoing Jin's own mental tone, taking a step or two back to get out of the way. The still engemmed Dragon was ready to dismiss the other and proceed, but the tingle of recognition finally penetrated his thoughts enough to make him react. Brother? "Brother?" came the incredulous echo. Tian Yue walked fuming out of the Throne hall - bad enough that his Lord was reduced to such a thing, such a silent and foul thing. Finding Phaedra resplendent on the Throne, in power and knowing it - oh, no, she couldn't do anything to him, not by force, but she could blackmail and manipulate as well as ever. Better, with the cards she now held.
Damn her.
There was someone in the outer hall, some sycophant come to spew praise at Greed's feet, no doubt; Tian Yue didn't notice the other figure until he smacked right into them, unintentionally. "Excuse me," he muttered, echoing the figure's own words, then stopped after a few more paces."Brother?" He turned, surprised. Who would call him that, now? His eyes searched Del's face, questioning. "Who asks?"Del's face would hold no clues to the true identity of the speaker, as without his Dragon's direct control, the man remained blank faced. Jin struggled briefly with one of the last barriers between himself and his host before offering a reply; Del's consciousness might remain submerged, but his subconscious desire to retain control of his own body was what had led to the echoing nature of his speech and awkward movements At last, however, that too was overcome, leaving Jin Huang free to speak without delay. "The Dragon King Futs Lung, called Jin Huang in this life," came the reply, flavored and nuanced with the power to back his claim. A brief stab of envy shot through him, as the other was clearly not still bound to gem only. He had once regained such form, only to be lost, burnt and spent, leaving him only the jewel once more. A shifting of features, odd and awkward, met Tian Yue's question - extremely unsettling and strange, even to one used to blank faces and unfocused gazes from many conversations with hosts and gods.
But when the man finally spoke, the simple name did much to wash away Tian Yue's frustration. "Futs Lung," he breathed, amazed. "Shenlei... he told me you were lost, host crumbled away around you." Clearly, that was not the case now. Another of his brothers enfleshed in truth, at last, and when had they ever needed Dragon Kings more than now? "I am Tien Lung, called Tian Yue in this life," he said, echoing the other dragon's phrasing. "And I am very, very glad to see you well."Del's expression gradually lost it's blank and unsettling aspect, instead taking on a more animated look as Jin settled himself into better control of his host. Much less awkward this way, although it was slightly strange, being in a form not his own, but with nearly full control. "Shenlei?" Jin echoed, name not immediately calling anyone to mind. "What he said was true, however. I made my decision too hastily, and the soul I had selected could not fuel my further growth," he added, making a small dismissive motion with one hand. "The Crown took me in and gave me another chance at life." Here, the dragon smiled wryly, Del's mouth twisting slightly. Yes, another chance at life, but that could end, and in a far more final fashion than his last. "It is good to see you as well, even in such times as these. I find I have missed my siblings, over these long years. Have you any news of the others? Or," a slight hesitation, and Jin's gaze flickered briefly to the Throne Room before focusing once more on Tian Yue, "Of what has befallen the Crown?""Shenlei is Shen Lung, though I haven't seen him recently. Zhijian, Ying Long, is in the Ancient Pantheon seeking his armor of old - he should return shortly. I was there with him until a few moments ago." It seemed like a lifetime had passed since breathing that ancient air, even though it had only been an hour in experienced time. That flux...
He shook that thought off, sharply. "Qian Lung the Black Dragon roams as well, though still in diminished form like your own unless something has changed. Likewise Ti Lung. Of Yu the Five Claws, Great Chien-Tang, and Mang.... I have no news." He sighed. "And our Lord..."
He would not turn around and walk back for a glimpse of that thing their Lord had become; not now, with Phaedra sitting mocking on her stolen Throne. "I do not know what has done this thing, but he stands enmeshed in some vile thing, egg to some viler thing. An ancient Aoide has said it heralds the end of the world." Oh, how he wished he had something better to tell his brother! Wonderful to see you well, unfortunately, the world's about to end... too bad, so sorry..."I see I have some catching up to do," Jin replied with a much more genuine smile. "It is good to hear that so many have returned as well," the dragon replied thoughtfully. There was something there, when Tian Yue mentioned the Five Claws, the faint echo of a memory of a sensation experienced while Harmodious had him under his care. Jin dismissed it with a small shake of his head - not now. "The End?" he echoed, taking a step back in shock. Surely not! Not now, not when everything and everyone was in the process of returning. Surely the Crown would not...No. This was not right. "It cannot be that time so soon," Jin growled out, lightly balling one hand into a fist, as though he could strike a blow against whatever had done this. "Is there nothing to be done, then?"Tian Yue shook his head, sharply. "It is not natural; the Aoide, the lore-keeper, agreed. As to stopping it..."
They had to stop it, he had to stop it, no question. But how? "There are stones in the Ancient Pantheon that may provide answers and help. That is why I came back here now, to learn what I could about what exactly happened, so I might know what to look for when I return." So far, he had learned nothing other than that Phaedra was a b***h, which was nothing new.
And that Futs Lung is alive, he reminded himself. That was worth knowing. "Zhijian and I saw three futures played out for us. Gehenna..." His tail twitched back and forth. Saying the name here, with that behind him somewhere, made tiny prickles of unease run up his spine. "In one, the Dragon Kings did battle. Five of them." Futs Lung had been named there, as had Yu Five Claws. Had that worthy King returned as well? "In another, the End was bound. In the last, all did battle. All ended in empty failure. I know what not to do. What to do?" He laughed, mirthless. "I have no idea."
He would have to get an idea, and quickly. Someone would have to.Jin Huang stilled himself, his anger, to listen to what his brother had to say. So - battle was out of the question; just as well, to his mind. Direct fights and brute force had never been his style. But bound? That tugged at something within, something he should know, but did not. It was not something to trouble his brother with, not over something so small, and with another small shake of his head, Jin dismissed the thought as something to go over later, when there was time. "Nothing of the Consort?" he asked idly. That there was a search for the missing Aristogeiton was something he knew quite well at this point. One of his own servants was among those searching, and he had received quite a bit of information on the subject as well. Then again, if these fate-stones had shown naught of him, perhaps the search was futile at this point. Just as well, then, that he himself had not gone. "I know that he has been the subject of much searching, in order to avert this very problem.""I have heard that Medicine was seeking such - other than that, I do not know," Tian Yue said, with a sigh. If other gods were doing so, then that was well and good and something he did not have to personally worry about. "Doubtless if he is useful, we will find out as the other gods fail or succeed. I... have gone too far from the Throne, too recently, already."
He would have to return to the Ancient Pantheon, that much was certain, but he was loathe to do so just yet. He needed more information. The lack of true knowledge he had regarding this whole situation was beginning to get to him."Medicine, and now others," Jin confirmed. Not that he was overly concerned with the search; while the Dragon had sent along one of his own servants, as well as the larger part of his 'hoard', he remained indifferent to the overall end results of the quest. If they did indeed suceed in finding the missing Consort, and better yet, that it actually had some effect, well, that was all to the good. As it was, Jin Huang was content to have merely provided some momentum towards it. "I leave such things in their hands. There is more than enough to concern ourselves with here," he added firmly, another flickering glance cast into the Throne Room. Jin shrugged uncomfortably. "I know little enough of what happened here, save only that it happened.""Others? That is good to know." Tian Yue sighed. Phaedra's promises not withstanding, it was nice to know that others among the Pantheon were moving, in their own ways. Trying to help.
He caught the other dragon's glance towards the Throne hall. "The goddess of Greed has taken the Throne for a time. She spoke of power granted by that ascension. Perhaps it might be useful, but she is... difficult to deal with." Understatement, but he didn't need to poison other gods with his own anger. He would not set god against god, not now. They could war later, when the entirety of existence was not in danger."I would do something here, to help, but I think it unlikely I would be of much use, trapped as I am," Jin Huang replied with a slight grimace. Trapped not only by the limits of this form that was still not his, but trapped by his host's catatonic self. Forcing him into control like this, so early on, worried Jin more than he would like to admit. It hit too close to him, to his previous failure. Jin curved Del's lips upwards in a smile at his brother's words. "I had hoped she would there," he said, glad to have his suspicions confirmed. Obviously, there was something between the two, but that was not his concern, just as the reverse would have been true. And had been in the past, he dimly recalled. But it was not something to dwell on, and the dragon found himself obscurely glad that Greed was the one he would encounter on the Throne. "Difficult to deal with, yes, but has she ever been otherwise?" he asked, largely rhetorically. It was entirely her nature to be such, and Jin was accepting of that fact. Hoped? Tian Yue twitched inwardly at that, but then again not everyone had been on the receiving end of Phaedra's acerbic tongue. Thankfully, Jin's other statement provided ample distraction from the topic of Greed. "Trapped? How so?"A frown appeared at the question. "By my host, actually," Jin Huang replied slowly, almost sheepishly. "The original wave that started all of this sent his consciousness deep into hiding." Or something else, Jin wasn't entirely sure. Del had resurfaced briefly sometime last week, although he had quickly gone away again once Jin had spoken with him. "It simply leaves me in an awkward position," he added on with another shrug. At least he'd managed to get more control over the body. It would be even more awkward otherwise. "Ah... I see..." Tian Yue gave Del a worried look. One host had already failed his brother, and this one was barely functioning, it seemed. "If you require mana...""Ah," Jin Huang replied, flashing a quick, but grateful, smile. Tian Yue did, after all, know of the previous failure. "I don't think that shall be necessary. It doesn't...feel the same." It had been terrifying, and more than a little painful, making it an experience he was loathe to repeat. He'd already failed once, and he could not afford to do so again. There likely wouldn't be anything left to stuff back in the gem, if this played out the same way. A faint shudder rippled through his body at the thought. "I was worried," Tian Yue murmured. "We needed you, so desperately. We still do," he added, glancing up with a very faint flush on his cheeks."I know. And I regret not being here," Jin replied, feeling frustrated. He'd missed so much, but now he was returned, and here he would stay, unless the Crown required him elsewhere. "You could hardly help that," Tian Yue said, firmly. He understood, though; he-Shaiming had felt great guilt at not being there to stand between Universe and Creation on that distant day. "You're here now. That's the important thing. And when we set things right, you will be here for a very long time to come."
Surely they, the Dragon Kings, could set things right. Not in battle, as the fate-stone said, but through some other method, surely... otherwise, why else would Destruction have wanted them so? What other purpose did they have for existing?"If only we were all gathered here," Jin Huang replied wistfully. Of course, Ying Long was otherwise occupied, but what of the others? Why were they not here? "Not for battle, of course." Even with all arrayed against the End, it was unlikely to make much of a difference in that terrifyingly final result Tian Yue had spoken of. "I am sure that will come, in time - once Zhijian has returned. For now, though..." He resisted the urge to glance back at the Throne hall. "I must learn more about what has happened here, and use that knowledge to find answers in the fate-stones. And you? Your office will be needed, no doubt of that. All of us will be needed.""I look forward to that day," Jin Huang replied. When they all could be gathered, before the true Crown, and not whatever waited in the Throne room. "For myself, today I came to pay my respects to the Lady Greed," he continued with another small smile. "I wish you luck in your search, brother. And please, if you learn anything..." Jin shook his head lightly. "I ask only that you keep me informed if there is time to do so.""Of course. Always. Be well, Futs Lung."

...||All That Glitters Week of Greed: Jin Huang After speaking with his brother - so good to see him again - Jin Huang slipped inside the Throne room, unsure of what exactly he was going to see. The malevolent chrysalis was unexpected, and something Jin did not want to dwell on overlong. Greed enthroned had already gathered a small group of mortals to herself, and an amused thought corssed the dragon's mind. Gathering all his power, Jin hid it, only exerting himself enough to move the body of his host. How long would it take the Goddess to realize? Probably not long, but it was something he could not resist doing. Stifling a grin, Jin Huang silently approached the Throne and the Goddess seated there. With her little would-be bard safely ensconced, Phaedra turned her mind back to pleasure. Destruction's long Age, however, had rather sucked the fun out of that. People brought their most treasured things, but what good was a ratty stuffed animal, a battered army ration, or a weapon? True, there was some glitter, but not anywhere near as much as she wanted. Destruction had squeezed out much of people's excesses and reduced them to the bare knife-edge of survival.
Boring.
Another penitent shambled up, and Phaedra gave the man a dubious look. "And what do you bring to the Golden Throne?" Usually she didn't address them so directly, but usually they stopped further away."Alas, I bring nothing," Jin Huang replied, truly regretful. He hadn't really anticipated anyone on the Throne, and that lack of foresight was problematic now. Brow furrowed in thought for a moment - had he really left with nothing of value on him? - Jin's smile returned. There was something. It was small, admittedly, but he hadn't quite been able to convince himself to leave everything at home. "Ah, I lie. I forgot. A trifling bauble, a trinket really. Nothing worthy," the dragon said, amused. A quick hand darted into his pocket and back out, pulling a small ruby out. "I hope it suffices for the moment," he continued, offering it to Phaedra with a bow. Ah- Now that, that was more like it. Phaedra examined the facets. Small, yes, but it was flawless. So difficult to find, in this Age, when people thought that jewels of any stripe were equal to wealth and piled them together... and the diamonds scratched the other jewels, and what was the world coming to?
But who was this to name a flawless gemstone a trinket in this time of strife? Phaedra gave the man a narrow-eyed, assessing look. That attitude was extremely unusual. "A trinket that could equal weeks of food for you and yours." Not that such would matter, with the compulsion. Things would be brought whether they willed it or no, but saying such things in the process was definitely an anomaly."Assuming I could find anyone to buy it," Jin replied amicably, withdrawing his hand once the gem was taken. Privately, he considered the gem to be the least part of the treasure he had found, right before the Wave, but if it impressed her, so be it. It did make him glad that he had left the rest at home, however. "But why would I want to sell it? It is - was - mine, and only for you would I part with it." Dragons and greed did tend to go hand in hand, after all. It made a fitting enough offering for the embodiment of the largest part of his nature. She laughed, then, delighted. Now that was an attitude worthy of her Throne! "I see, I see. A worthy choice, an excellent benediction. What is your name, my dear?" Such a human could be excellent for her purposes. "And do you enjoy giving this to me? Is it your delight, your true wish - or does it hurt you, does it tear from your soul? Tell me, truly." Her eyes narrowed in pleasure, and she lessened the compulsion around him. "Tell me how it hurts," she purred.Malh'reth was rather bored as well. There were only so many pictures of offerings you could sketch, draw, and animate in the glory of the Goddess you served when those coming all started to the look the same - he was also pretty sure Phaedra had collected a startling amount of well-worn teddy bears and toy dolls.
Thus, when the newest worshiper arrived and came so close to the throne, he blinked and paid closer attention, furry ears perked forward and head tilted to the side as he listened. It was frustrating, sometimes, to see only auras. After the monotony of the last while, the strange... difference about this man offered a reprieve. It was subtle... and he knew not what to make of it.
Unconsciously, he took a step forward out of curiosity.
Then he blinked again, seeing the dull outline of a gem pass from his hand to Phaedra's. A trinket...? Times were rough and he held a gem as nothing but a bauble? His head tilted to the other, one ear flicking as he doodled the strange exchange.
"Yes, a name would be appreciated." He spoke quietly, mostly to himself. Names were important in the making of records. Though he fell silent, expression darkening a bit at her last comment. Deep inside, he struggled against the compulsion that had made him agree to do this and lost once again.Jin grinned sharply. She hadn't guessed? Oh, this was too fun, too fun. "I've had many names," he replied slowly, wondering if now was the right time for the reveal. "Delmin Brock," he said finally, plucking absently at the hem of his shirt. It hadn't been the man's real name either, come to think of it. "Oh, it pains me slightly to part with it," he continued with a widening of his grin. "Not so much as it would, were it not offered to you." At least she could appreciate the gem, unlike many who had received gifts from the Treasury. The lessening of the compulsion was not something he truly noticed. This was Greed and he would happily stay here for a while longer. A flickering glance was cast to Malh'reth when he spoke, but Jin quickly dismissed him as a pretty pet. "Flatterer," she purred, then twisted the compulsion to bring him closer-
And met resistance. Sharp, sudden, the power did not wave through him as it had the others! Her eyes widened, then narrowed again, and she drew back from her 'plaything'. "You are not telling me the truth, Delmin... the host's name, I presume." He could only be that, a host, with her compulsion blunting itself against him. His act had been so complete, she hadn't noticed. "Primordial, Dragon King, which are you? Name yourself, and your purpose in presenting yourself in this manner." Did he mean to deceive her? Did he think her a fool?Jin took a step backwards as Phaedra's mood shifted. Ah! Something had given him away. No matter. "His name, yes," he agreed, nodding his head slightly. "My name is Jin Huang." He paused, offering another bow. She might recognize the name - or it's literal translation. "The Dragon King Futs Lung," he finished the introduction, remaining where he was, but taking a deep breath and allowing his pent up power to trickle forth and add truth to the claim. "My brother mentioned you were seated on the Throne. I had not meant to offend," he said by way of apology. Hopefully she would forgive him the small game. For a moment she stared, taken off guard.
Then she laughed, a genuine laugh that trailed off into a chortling purr. "Futs Lung, is it. Now two Dragon Kings have come to plague me on my Throne. But you... you were always my favorite." She leaned forward and made to snatch at the proffered gem.Jin Huang let her snatch the gem away, amused. "You do remember me. I am honored, Lady," he said, bowing his head slightly in a far more genuine display of respect. Tian Yue had not seemed to bear any love for her in this incarnation, that was true, but Futs Lung had ever held a different view on Greed. "Thankfully, that was mine, and not the Crown's. Else I could not have made the offer." An old game, there, one only dimly recalled in any specific moment, but fondly remembered nonetheless. "And how on earth did you find such things in these times? Selling apples on a barrow, perhaps? A fine task for a Dragon King." She held the ruby up to the light, then called a chain to cup around it, pulling fine golden strands out of the air. "Your master would benefit most from other treasures, I think." A vague look of unease flitted across her face; as if to obscure it, she hurriedly braided the now ensnared ruby among the rest of the gems in her hair."A hidden trove I had long since forgotten about," Jin replied easily, rocking back in his heels slightly at the display of trivial power. So easy to do, when one was seated upon the Throne. "Thankfully, I have servants with far better memory." He cast a flickering glance over the chrysalis as she spoke, missing entirely her unease. "If only it was something in my keeping," he whispered sorrowfully in return. "I would gladly empty the vaults of all they contained, if it would aid Him.""Even I..." She hesitated, just for a moment, but no - for him, she would; wasn't there that cache in her rooms from Achai, that she'd been saving? She'd wanted it for herself most direly, which was why it had to be for Him? "... would do the same. But this lot would save nothing" She gave the piles of mostly-not-glitter a withering glance.
"But let us talk of better things. You are late in coming, Futs Lung. How much of the Crown's treasury could I have plundered in your absence?" She shook a finger at him, scolding. "I might even have touched some of it." A game, that. Sneak in, or try, and lay a fingertip on a bauble before being summarily caught. A merry game.Jin arched an eyebrow at that, but conceded the point. Of the Court, she had only truly respected the Crown, and to offer her gifts freely to Him would be within the scope of that respect. It would, of course, pain her, but it could be done. "I would have returned sooner, had I known you roamed freely," he said back, only a faint light of disquiet hinting that there was another reason for his current state. "Daring woman, indeed. Who knows how the spells and guards have gone awry in my long absence. I would not like to begin my inventory with the addition of you to the vaults," he continued, mournfully exaggerating her fate. It was more likely they had all expired, leaving the Treasury unprotected. "The treasury is upstairs," she assured him - that had been one of the other things she'd done with the Sight, spy on the Pantheon. Good blackmail material, that, but the glittering endless rooms had drawn her attention quite effectively. "Some of it is ordered, too, as if someone was there recently... that wasn't you, then?""No, that was not," Jin confirmed with a frown. Who would have dared to not only enter the Treasury, but to put any part of it in order? There were few enough who had had permission in ages past - of course, Harmodius could let whomever he wanted in. "I can only hope and assume it was someone there on my Lord's orders," he admitted. One more thing to worry at and about, as if there were not plenty of others. "Alas, I had other games to play before thinking about resuming our old tricks and tropes, my dear... Jin Huang, is it, now?" She tilted her head to one side. "Like subduing my host. And then, tsk, all this happens not two days later. Terribly inconvenient. So that little shuffle can't be blamed on me."Jin nodded absently to confirm the name. "I imagine that if you had gotten in, it would not be ordered in any sense of how I mean the word," he said dryly. Large parts would likely be missing, although that might be - blasphemy - uncharitable for him to think that of her. "Was she truly that troublesome?" he asked, curious. His first, failed, host had been quarrelsome, although he privately conceded his own handling of the situation might have contributed to that. Delmin was, of course, himself, and wasn't likely to be any trouble at all. Especially if he remained as he was. "Oh, no... but she was amusing," she purred, with a pointed smile. "Alas, Tien Lung thought she belonged to him. Such a pity to disabuse him of the notion. Aoide, so rich and delicious. But you, my dear... you know that I get what I want, don't you? Perhaps I have that great pearl I so coveted, upstairs in my chambers at this very moment."Ahhhh. That explained much of his brother's dislike. A bit of defensive anger worked it's way through his system at the information, but with a mental sigh, Jin released it. Stealing an Aoide was quite a line to cross, but if anyone would do it, it would be Greed. Entirely her nature to do such things, and Jin could accept that. "At some point, whether anyone likes it or not," he agreed, before casting a very sharp glance at Phaedra. She wouldn't! "Oh? And had the thrill of the chase gone out of that, then?"Phaedra sighed, and affected a bored pose. "Alas, it has been frightfully dull. I've only managed to topple one metropolis, yet. Working into these close-knit little clusters of desperation that mortals fall into... well, this power has broken them of that, but this world just doesn't suit me, my dear." She traced along the line of the Throne's armrest. "You'll need to fix it, you and your brothers.""But not until after your time is up?" Jin asked innocently. He couldn't blame her, not really. This was, literally, something that only happened once in a lifetime. Who could pass up such? "I would see the Crown and Court returned to glory," he continued fervently, as if making a promise. "But I have little enough knowledge of what has transpired, let alone how to fix it." Tian Yue hadn't known, either. Had none of his siblings made it to the Pantheon after the Crown's transformation? "Perhaps... though, if you can manage it sooner, I value my continued comfort and safety over all this. It is temporary anyway. Sometimes you have to sacrifice one bauble for another of greater value," she said, with a sigh and a flip of one hand.
Phaedra glanced down at him, then. "I... know little enough myself. We are scattered, like flies. A terrible thing." There was a tone of vague frustration in her voice."Pragmatic, as always," Jin murmured at her response. Dying so finally after such a short time ascended seemed like a waste to the dragon. There wouldn't be a second - or third - chance if they failed to set things right. "The Court has not gathered?" he asked, vaguely surprised. But then, if those who came first were not the sort to have spent much time there before, then it was unlikely they would have done so now. Phaedra shrugged. "If they have, I did not know it. What you see here is all I have seen since taking the Throne. If you can bring more, then please - by your leave, Futs Lung.""How singularly frustrating," he replied. He made a small, dismissive gesture. "I find it unlikely any would gather on my word alone. Then there is, of course, the problem of finding anyone else to gather before you, or the Throne in general." He knew, now, three gods. There were ancient alliances and relationships, of course, but rebuilding such things took time - and introducing himself with a request to gather before Greed Enthroned would likely not do much for him in the long run. What little of that remained. "You will manage, I've no doubt. Ask your brothers to help you, they seem gregarious sorts. Ever so noble." Her tone was flippant, impudent. "And if you wish to see me... you know where I am, for now. Or later, upstairs, behind the door of jewels with the brass knocker. I'll turn off the traps for you, my dear, unless you'd rather exert your lovely Delmin..."Primordial... Dragon King....? His gaze flicked to Phaedra as she spoke those unfamiliar terms and wrote them down along with the other's name then paused and glanced up, brow furrowing. Why were there so many names? And what, praytell, was a host? He had thought the gods were... as they were. The way Phaedra spoke it seemed like the one standing before her was some sort of parasite...
Frowning, he wrote out his attempts at the other names below Delmin Brock and idly traced question marks beside them. He certainly didn't look like a dragon... but was that difference in his aura the signature of being such? What was a Dragon King? As they turned to idle banter (or at least idle from what he could tell) he tuned the conversation out while his thoughts turned inward.
Since falling into step with Phaedra he'd come across all manner of information but nearly as many, if not more, questions. He would ask her but after watching her deal with her visitors and knowing her domain, he doubted it would be a good idea to pursue further contracts. This current one was enough.
Perhaps, though, and his gaze lifted once more to peer at Futs Lung, it might be an idea to speak to the dragon king. The title sounded important and the two seemed to at least get along... he could step away for a moment or two to speak with this Jin Huang."They do seem to have a natural inclination for it," Jin replied affably. Not all of them, of course. He did not, for instance, tend towards any sort of heroic impulse. "Delmin's hardly fit for navigating your Labyrinth, even with my aid. Perhaps at a later date I'll be able to find my way through." Not quite like a sphinx, with their nearly obsessive love for puzzles and riddles, but Jin Huang held a a lingering respect for the maze, often navigated simply for the pleasure of doing so. An interesting intellectual challenge. "Perhaps when you are more recovered from your long time away, then." Phaedra glanced down at Malh'reth. Her little pet seemed more curious than simple recording would warrant. All to the good, in this case; Futs Lung would not lead him away from her. Instead, she gestured at the Aurion. "My aide and chronicler in this golden time, Malh'reth. He is mine," she added, and flashed the artist a quick, bright smile. One ear tilted, leaving him with one tilted up and the other laid back in a quizzical manner. A Labyrinth...? He had not yet been up to Phaedra's chambers and hoped that what they were speaking of was something simple... or, better yet, that he wouldn't have to actually navigate such a thing.
He started when she called his name and blinked, looking slightly guilty even while trying to appear as though he was simply recording. Her claiming of him rubbed him the wrong way but he suppressed the frown in the hopes that she might actually send him along with this dragon king without his having to ask. "Yes m'lady?" Stepping forward, he came up even with her and bowed his head, sketchbook held up against his chest."I look forward to the occasion," Jin said with another bow of his head. Before he could search for something else to say, she introduced her pet, a member of a race Jin could not ever remember seeing. But then, that meant little enough, these days. "What foresight," he murmured appreciatively. "There will always be a memory of this, then, for however long the world will last.""Indeed... and I aim that that shall be quite a long time indeed." Phaedra's gaze darted quickly to the chrysalis, then back to Malh'reth and the Dragon. "Alas, I fear I should bend my gaze upon All once more, and continue seeking what I can. You may tend to your needs if you require it, my dear artist," she added, glancing down at Malh'reth. "Best to have you do so at a time when I am idle than when I may have need of your abilities."Malh'reth smiled, "I hope my tales of the Gods and Goddeses I meet here will spread when I return home, yes. I have faith the answer will be found." And at that, he cast a glance Phaedra's way, gilded with hope.
When she spoke once more, his eyes widened and his smile grew larger, "Thank-you Phaedra. I shall return." Offering a deep bow, he then turned to the dragon king, careful not to turn his back on Phaedra completely.
"Would you mind if I walked with you? There is much to learn and record, I've come to realize." He laughed softly, "More then I could have imagined upon coming here.""By your leave, Lady," Jin replied, sweeping an elegant bow. He was about to turn and leave when Malh'reth spoke to him. "Greed has granted her permission for you to leave her side, and so I have no issue with it," he said as he started to slowly walk away. "Was there something in particular you wished to speak with me about?"

...||What's Puzzling You Week of Greed: Jin Huang "By your leave, Lady," Jin replied, sweeping an elegant bow. He was about to turn and leave when Malh'reth spoke to him. "Greed has granted her permission for you to leave her side, and so I have no issue with it," he said as he started to slowly walk away. "Was there something in particular you wished to speak with me about?"The mage nodded as he began to walk along with Jin, "Yes. I wish to ask you some questions... I have only come here relatively recently and while Phaedra's been kind enough to take me under her wing in return for my recording her glory," a small smile at that for he could not argue the fact, "but I have come to realize my understanding of the situation is... lacking."
Pausing as he flipped his pages open, he ran fingers over the paper to skim them, "I couldn't help but overhear your conversation and there were a few terms I am unfamiliar with." Looking up, he spread long fingers over the sketchbook's page, "Would you mind helping me fill in the gaps? I want as complete a story as possible for when I return home to tell the tale of the gods I met here." As he read the words Dragon King, a frown flickered across his face and he offered a hasty sort of bow, "Er... highness?" Inwardly, he winced. What a wonderfully smooth cover.Jin Huang listened patiently as the mortal spoke. Ah, lucky Malh'reth. He had met and found to be a prize by the softer side of Greed. If and when he tried to leave, well. That would be his own watch, and not something Jin would advise him of. It - he - was not worth crossing the Lady Greed over. "I will tell you what I am able," he offered finally, pondering. "I have only recently returned myself, but," here he shrugged. "You may ask anyway," he finished, as though it were a favor bestowed. Jin chuckled a bit at the belated highness, and wave a hand dismissively. "Jin Huang. Or Treasurer, if you insist upon a title."Malh'reth nodded, "Alright then, Jin. My thanks." Taking a moment to collect his thoughts, he decided first to focus on what the other had just said. "I illustrate my stories and while you were speaking with Phaedra... you offered two names. I am curious, which should I include in my retelling and what is a host? I had thought that the very concept of a mortal or anyone, really, sheltering a god was.... ridiculous." Still, if that were the truth, he would rather know it and expand upon that base then spin some fluff that proved false and bring down the gods' wrath upon him. "Jin Huang is my name. Delmin Brock is his," Jin replied after a speculative look at the mage walking beside him. He sighed a little, and slowed his stride further. "This, I do know. The gods failed. We fell, we died. The Twin Crown, Creation and Destruction, my Lord Harmodius, gathered what he could of our essence, and set us to slumbering in gems and jewels." Here, Jin loosened the top button of the shirt he'd worn, revealing an interesting looking gemstone, set at the top of his breastbone. "This is mine. Delmin found it, set it there." There was a lot Jin was skipping over - his first, failed attempt at rebirth, and everything else that had come of that - but that was not something he would share lightly with anyone, let alone a pet of Greed's. "And I will use his soul to fuel my own growth and rebirth," the dragon said matter-of-factly. Del had accepted this, before he had...gone away, as it were. "As we all will do, or have done." Hopefully that would be enough of an explanation. The Aurion slowed then stopped at the frank information, eyes widening. "Died....? Slumbering?" The glint of an intriguing gem caught his eye and drew his attention to it, and he stepped closer, "I did not think that gods cou-" He cut himself off sharply and fell into a confused silence as he worked the dragon's statement over in his mind.
Use his soul to power his rebirth...? There was no other way to interpret that then the host was a sacrifice to the god slumbering in the gem. It seemed... both fitting and appalling at the same time. Rolling his lower lip in between his teeth, he nibbled on it, unsure of just how he felt about this. Jin had been so frank it couldn't be an exageration. He was infinitely glad he had not stumbled across a gem and strangely grateful for this rather startling information.
At length he finally found his voice, and posed another question, "All the gods do this...? Have a mortal give up their soul so that they might be reborn...? Are the mortals at least willing?"Jin let Malh'reth fully process the information before making any sort of reply. It was a lot to take in, after all. "All that you have seen here, save only the Crown. But He is in no shape that you would recognize as being a god," the dragon said with a soft, sad, chuckle. "Some are willing, like Delmin. Some are not, like the Lady you caught the attention of." He had not been told this, true, but oh, the implication was there. His brother's servant would not have gone without being tricked, of that much Jin Huang was certain. Malh'reth's expression hardened, "I've seen your... King. I would not recognize him as a god. It is difficult to accept that the very universe's wellbeing depends on that.... being," the pod was deeply disturbing and he hated looking at it. It just wasn't right.
Shaking the thoughts from his mind, he frowned, "Greed? Her.... host was not willing? What is Phaedra like...? She had been nothing but kind and yet she is Greed. It confuses me." Even so he wondered who would so willingly sacrifice their very existence to a god. Shivering, he turned lavender eyes on the area about them, “And… my apology for the question, Treasurer, but what is a Dragon King…? If that pod is your lord then what are you the king of?” He’d already figured out Phaedra’s time on the throne was something special and something linked to the ever shifting influences of the weeks but what of a Dragon King? Why didn’t they sit upon the throne instead of paying respects like Jin had?Jin Huang shrugged off the mage's comments regarding Harmodius. Jin himself had only seen his Lord once while whole, at least in this incarnation, and yet that had still been through Delmin's eyes, not truly his own. Not even like this. "She is Greed," was the simple response, offered in a tone of amused resignation. "You have caught her attention. Be grateful, and try to keep it, lest you see her true nature." That was all the warning Jin would give on that subject. The dragon had no desire to cross Phaedra over something so trivial as a pet mortal. "Nothing in particular. We are not Kings in the sense that you know them. In the hierarchy of the Pantheon, only the Twin Crown Himself is set above us." Partially true, that; always the Empress and the Primordials respected and obeyed, but it was true enough for Malh'reth's question. Malh'reth half laughed, half scoffed, "I will keep that in mind." He didn't exactly have much choice in the matter... it was either obey or risk her wrath and though she may be Greed, he wasn't fool enough to deliberately cross her, "Besides... we have an agreement that I must honour." And there was that stubborn Aurion tendency to stick to an agreement however much the individual may dislike it. Old teachings were hard to forget.
He blinked, taken aback by that. They... were second only to the Twin Crown...? The look of surprised slid into a frown as he wondered if he should even be speaking with this one... Coughing, he tilted his head up to the sky as his ears flicked and settled, "Hierarchy? There are a great many of you then? You are one of the few gods I've met... I must admit I am still rather uninformed," he sighed, "and that doesn't make for a proper retelling. I have not asked Phaedra many questions as she demands something in return..."
He chuckled softly for he didn't blame her but she already had his service... among other things, and there wasn't much more he could offer. "Is there anything that I should know? I came in search of answers but now I'm hoping to find a way to assist in... fixing? The degradation of the worlds. I don't want to die and I'm almost certain the feeling is mutual between mortals and immortals alike." Perhaps Jin could offer him some means of helping out, he hoped so at least."So long as you are aware," Jin replied noncommitally. An agreement, with Greed? That was laughable, although he refrained from actually laughing out loud. It would be impolite to do so, after all. He had made his choice - however fogged his mind might be - and he was the one who would have to deal with the consequences. "There were, once. We died. I think I mentioned that already," he continued dryly, arching an eyebrow. "And there will be, once again." This was said firmly, hiding the doubts Jin held within him. Would they really be able to put things aright before time ran out? He eyed Malh'reth speculatively. Was there anything he could do? He didn't know what the man was capable of, but Jin wasn't entirely sure there was anything he could do. "I am unsure," he admitted. "Learn what you can, from others who may gather here. Perhaps someone else will know of something you could put your talents towards." Whatever those talents might be. Malh'reth chuckled, "Yes, you did. I meant more in terms of current numbers..." He wondered, as Jin replied, how many unfortunate souls would be fed to the gods. Would it be worth it in the end?
The mage sighed then, and nodded. It was an answer... not a particularly helpful answer but at least the dragon hadn't said he couldn't do anything. Stopping, he glanced around and found they'd wandered a good distance from the Pantheon. Turning back around to face the other, he bowed, "I guess that's the best course of action. Thank you for your time but I must return soon... afore I'm missed."
With some of his questions answered, Mal thought it best to return sooner then later.

...||Message For You, Sir... Week of Greed: Jin Huang Avita hummed quietly to herself as she left the Pantheon, practically skipping over the rocks and rubble that had marked Destruction's reign and only worsened in this new time. Her hooves and easy balance kept her movements swift, and she had her message from her Lady - find the Dragon King Futs Lung, and bring him word. Even if the order had originated from that other Dragon, her Lady had confirmed it and sent her forth. (The hissed curses and thrown objects as she did so were quietly, and discreetly, ignored.) The satyr-like Aoide followed the smell of Dragon along, the passage showing clearly through the veil of her Lady's mana, boosted by the decay of the Form. Sure enough, she soon caught sight of a figure in the street, like a rock in a stormy sea. Avita bounded lightly down from the ruined rock-pile she'd climbed and jumped in front of the Dragon King, bowing impishly as she landed. "A message for you, Dragon King Futs Lung, from Phaedra, Lady of the Golden Throne, Imperatrix." Jin Huang had been thinking on his way home - there was much indeed to think about. He had learned much today, and it was while stewing over these new truths that the Aoide arrived in front of him. Managing to evince only a slight tic of startlement, he stared at her in amusement. "I'll ignore that last title for now," he said firmly, but still tinged with amusement and good will. "And what does Phaedra have to tell me, that she would send you?""Urgent news, Golden-scaled King." The Aoide straightened up. "She bids you seek a treasure of old, something most valuable that you once held. You do still hold it, in dried-bone form, but she asks that your living self go and steal from your dead." There was a spark of amusement in her eyes. "Manacles, to bind Destruction." Jin stared at her as she spoke, half expecting the words to spark a cascade of ancient memories unlocked, but sighed in wistful disappointment when nothing was triggered. "You speak truth, I know this," he replied finally. It did seem to fall within the scope of his duties, to hold something so dear. And Phaedra - she would not lie, not about something like this. Not during these times. Hands spread wide, the dragon offered a regretful smile. "But I hold no memory of what you tell me I should.""She did not send me so unprepared, Treasurer of the Crown," Avita replied, bowing again. "She has used her Sight on your behalf, to make your journey easier. You must make haste to the Ancient Pantheon and crawl Yggdrasil's roots, there to find your own remains. The Manacles should be there, or very near. They may be able to bind the Crown Decayed for a time, so that alternatives can be found. She bid me give you this." The Aoide extracted a folded paper from... well, her bosom... and held it out to the Dragon. "A map, of sorts, of the paths her Sight traveled to locate your grave." "Your Mistress has much foresight indeed," Jin murmured appreciatively. If his memory would not aid him, than Greed's Sight would have to instead. He was inwardly a little uneasy at the prospect of finding and facing his own remains. What a thing to have to do, so early in a new life. What a thing to have to do, at any time. He gravely accepted the offered map, unconcerned with where it had been stored while she traveled to him. "I do not expect you to know, but I must ask anyway. My brother mentioned the Ancient Pantheon, but not of how to travel there. Would you - or would your Mistress - have knowledge of such?" If it came to it, Jin supposed he could just ask his brother, or...he had mentioned returning there. Perhaps he could travel with him, if need be. "She began searching for a world called The'ta'naa, which holds a Gate to that ancient place," Avita replied, shifting from hoof to hoof, her hands now clasped behind her back. "How to travel? That is your purview." "The'ta'naa," Jin repeated, letting the name swirl about his consciousness. It stirred nothing within him, other than a longing to go there and reclaim what he could from the ruins of the past. "I thank you. Return to her side, and relay my thanks to her. I have preparations to make." With that, Jin tucked the map away for safekeeping - the sleeve of a robe would be better - and headed back towards his erstwhile residence at a much brisker pace than he had been originally.

...||Dealing With Pirates Week of Greed: Arithon Cinder rested back slightly looking at those gathered. She smiled slightly to Jaster she wasn't exactly sure what was going on but it was nice seeing him again even if it seemed they had been too busy to rest and speak for sometime. Saljin was also there Jaster's ever present shadow, for a moment Cinder felt a twinge of what might be jealousy a feeling she pushed away rather quickly, before Saljin's presence had been reassuring and friendly. Whatever this new thing was Cinder didn't like it, it was worse then the lust from before something less comfortable. Arithon also had joined them and Eddard, she wasn't sure of Eddard's ability to keep Eid in line but she hoped they would not have another nasty episode with Oath. His zealousness was more then somewhat disconcerting. "Alright, I took the liberty of getting in contact with the Diswes middle man. Everyone has sort of had time to talk. So most have an idea of what we are looking to run into. Lets go over what we know again before setting out." She glanced to Arithon as she spoke, for someone wanting action he seemed overly paranoid of his lord's wealth to a point he found himself locked up guarding it and nothing else. "We are going after the Pendant and the bones first, Tybalt the guy in charge has taken to wearing the pendant. Which means getting it from him will drive the price up rather high. The bones hopefully are still together and intact but they would have come with the pendant so hopefully he will know what we need." Cinder sighed slightly that Tybalt had taken to wearing the pendant worried her she was somewhat worried what may happen when they attempted to get it from him, "now we need that pendant it is suppose to lead to Aristogeiton and hopefully that means it will pick up the different pieces of him. So we can use it to figure out -who- we need from the ship. I'm going to suggest we take advantage of Saljin's shifting for this...once we have the pendant we leave, tell the Diswes we are interested in slaves and will be back tomorrow to look them over." Cinder gestures to Saljin, "Saljin you have small forms you can shift into correct? Could you use one of those to sneak onto the ship with the pendant?"Cinder then turned to look at Eddard, "you up for being boss again? Because I think it would be best if you took lead. I used some local information brokers earlier and don't want to risk drawing more attention to myself right now."Cinder paused waiting for reply and then spoke to Arithon, "also I was told Tybalt had a thing for diamonds, if you happen to have any that are particularly intriguing in with your things...it would likely be best to bring them along. Might be able to catch and hold his attention with them."Jaster watched Cinder closely, a faint smile on his lips. But as he watched her talking to the others, he suddenly realized that he didn't want to share her with them. For a time he frowned as he listened, thinking to himself that he should do something when Saljin's name was suddenly brought into view. Glancing over at the shifter, he simply watching him for an instant, the feelings of before slipping away. He blinked entirely caught offguard. What was this he was feeling? Had something gone wrong again and they were feeling the effects of it now? What would happen next? Saljin nodded. "Jaster and I thought perhaps it would help. It took me awhile, but I can now change into a rat," He glanced at Excentrique, his eyes narrowing slightly, "or a small feline. I thought the smaller cat might be more conducive to getting past anyone who saw me. I imagine they'd tend to shoot rats where a feline they might now." Excentrique growled softly, "I didn't know it was you. I thought it was a rat.""I was a rat." the shifter muttered. "But that's why I think a feline would get a better reception." Jaster watched Triq for a moment. "Triq, you and Pretzel are remaining here on the ship." "But.." she began, frowning intensely. Moronic goat. Arguing with your lord. Pretzel stated gleefully that she was in and causing trouble. "No buts. You ARE staying here." His voice was firm and she stared at him a moment. "Very well." she nodded. "I'll find something to do." For a moment she fiddled with the strings on the staff and her bottle of bubbling liquid. She did not have a choice when he was ordering her to remain. "No. Don't do anything. Don't touch anything. Just stay here." He replied quickly. "No exceptions." She was not the brightest cookie in the jar and he was quite certain that her arguing with Pretzel would draw far too much attention to them. Arithon had, admittedly, locked himself in his cabin and only rarely coming out. Thankfully for him, his particular species of demon didn't need to eat so much as absorb ambient spirit energy, and the amount being emitted by the other inhabitants was nigh intoxicating. As Cinder spoke, Ari idly shifted the straps on the pack he was wearing. The proposed bribe had been broken up into smaller containers, so as not to have to reveal the entirety of their potential offer all at once. Unfortunately, the pack he was currently carrying was the one with the most valuable items contained within. He wasn't entirely sure who his other 'companions' were, but figured they must be tied to the Pantheon if Cinder had tapped them for the trip. Failing having his Lord around to hand out direct orders, he'd simply follow Cinder's lead. Only once she had finished speaking did Arithon make any sort of indication he'd been paying attention. "There's a nice large one we found. S'got some fancy detailing on it," he admitted, not wanting to drag it out right now. He'd do that later, if needed. "An' some smaller ones. There's mostly diamonds an' gold in this pack. Some larger, less valuable gems as well." The demon frowned in thought. He didn't know a lot about what everything was worth; Jin had tried to explain it, several times, but Ari tended to tune out the instructions on the grounds that they baffled him. When it came time for Eddard to speak, he seemed reluctant. It had been difficult for him to find anything, and when he did, he was all to weary of his sources. "Yes, if that is the role you need me to play, ten I will surely execute it. As for what I've learned, not sure if it will do us much good, but I spent my time finding out what the Diswes relationship was with various other factions that were in the city. Apparently this city had an old mafia-esque group who called them self 'the Cudgel.' Much larger at one time, only a fraction is supposed to remain due directly in part of the Diswes. Everyone mentioned a man called Kostichie as the head of this organization, but apparently due to the bounty on his head offered up by the Diswes, he is all too hard to find. Fortunately I was able to confirm the existence of the bounty at one of the local pubs, but all the same, who knows if the man is still alive." "Another group and chief among their rivals in this galaxy is the Naruni. Someone pointed one out to me on the street. They are a gray skinned race who's faces are featureless aside from their eyes. Apparently they're a merchant race normally, but these here are in the service industry. That is they are paid by another race, the Splu...Spu...Spergoth, or something along those lines, I don't know, I couldn't pronounce it to begin with. Anyway, they were hired or contracted by this other race of slavers. Initially, it wasn't to big a deal, but since the Diswes sacrificed so much of their fleet to acquire what I gathered to be the Athenia, the Naruni have been trying to absorb some of their territory chunk by chunk which is what has brought them to this city to begin with. That's about the extent I was able to gather, at least, the most reliable seeming." Cinder glanced toward Jaster and the others with him, a slight look of amusement over her features at their drama. At the display that Triq was making however that brought her back to Kalfyra, "Kalfyra, stay on the ship with Triq. Keep her company show her how to put a book on a datapad whatever you like." She didn't want the Aoidei put into anymore danger then needed when it came to this. As Karaskis had reminded her and attempted to explain the Kalfyra that was with her now was not the same as the one that once served her; Cinder still did not truly understand but it sounded dire enough to leave her out of what could turn into a confrontation. As Arithon spoke Cinder looked over to him, "Keep the detailed diamond someplace to easily reach. We'll try a straight up trade as value wise I'm guessing the pendant is worth at least as much as that diamond but since Tybalt is wearing it..." shrugging slightly with a frown she made a non-committal gesture. The main bit of luck they had with them was that Tybalt was a pirate which meant almost anything he had was usually for sale or trade, it just meant finding the right price. "So lets keep the diamond on hand...but go for the bones first since he'll likely be more willing to part with those. If it comes to battle...pull back. They are fairly numerous and a major power in this area; we'll have to attempt to use one of their enemies if it comes to that. And frankly with the sort of maneuvering that would be needed for a long term conflict after what I heard of the Pantheon I don't think we have time."Cinder glanced to Eddard, "Might as well let you play boss, gives the rest of us more manuverability. Good job with the information on their enemies. We can hopefully use that to our advantage." She then looked at the rest and seemed to take account, "their middle man has a meeting set up in what use to be a diner not far from the main section of the ports that they use for their activities. We are due there in three fourths of an hour so lets head out and get situated." Cinder started for the ramp out of the ship as she spoke. Kalfyra stayed behind looking decidedly pouty about the whole ordeal as she did. Jaster fell in behind just as they had when heading to the bar after a warning glance at Pretzel. He knew the creature there would give Triq a hard time of it otherwise. He was unsure who would be able to see it, but Saljin obviously did not. Either way they did not need the attention the aoide would cause replying to it. And she would reply. She always did. Maybe Kalfyra would give her something to do and find something that interested her. "After you, Boss." Jaster stated with a gin as he and Saljin keep up the pretence of being guards. Glancing around warily as if he were a bodyguard, Saljin's eyes narrowed on the darker spaces around them. For this trip they were muscle again. It was not a hard role to play. It would be harder for him later when they had the necklace and he needed to sneak in to find the person connected. Hopefully it would not be too much trouble getting to him. A part of him just wanted to take the things they needed and he shivered lightly thinking that it should not cost them anything that Arithon had with him. Why should they pay pirates? Instead they could simply do as the pirates themselves had done and take what they wanted. But the thought of so many chasing them all the way back home and interferring in what was necessary caused him pause. His thoughts cleared enough that he could shove them away with a faint shudder. It would not do to have an enemy chasing them at this point. He noted the shiver and reached over to touch Saljin's arm in question. The shifter shook his head, gathering himself and continued to follow the others. Briefly he wondered if these thoughts were related to what they had felt the week before. But this seemed somewhat different and he wondered what would be next. "Thank you, Jaster." Eddard took up the position of boss. He let Cinder lead the way, but as they went, he would stop and casually look at various vendors. He made it a point to feign interest briefly and show his "henchmen" whatever he was eying but then move on quickly and avoid the sales person as to not slow down the procession too much. This was the 2nd beyond modern city they had been too and for the most part, this one suited him more than the prior. It seemed more orderly and less impoverished. Even though he had already made his rounds and explored much of it while gathering information, the city's sites were still very impressive. Then again, he had spent much of the last half of his life in a medieval setting and everything so much more fantastic. While they continued the trek, Eddard began to more seriously consider his role as leader. A man his size ought not need charisma so much as example. Should he be a violent, ruthless leader or a good natured one. Either way, he had to carry himself in the proper way. He also began to consider just what exactly he needed to say in order to acquire the things he needed. Perhaps the bones are that of a fallen comrade and pendant as well. Was this persona going to be the kind of person who doesn't leave an ally behind? Maybe its a bounty and he needs the remains and the pendant to claim his reward. He would have to wait until he met this captain to truly make up his mind. Cinder moved along calmly to the back and side much like a bodyguard would. Her eyes flickered around the area also as a bodyguard's or rather as someone with more then enough experience going into places that may likely get them killed. As they move down the street closer to the diner; the place was obviously a high class for what it was. Dark curtains were pulled over the windows giving whoever was within privacy. As they moved closer Cinder murmured to Eddard softly, "try for the bones first, hopefully they will give them up easily bones shouldn't be worth much to them. The pendant offer the diamond up first with the detailing that should at least peak his interest and then attempt to bargain hard. Make sure to point out the pendant although having sentimental value or whatever you want to say to you in itself is not that impressive as it is only partially precious metal and the rest is iron. We'll try for the person later on so try to set up a meeting for tomorrow to look at their slave stock." She wasn't sure how Eid would react to slave trade but there really wasn't much they could do, the Diswes were just too numerous. As they came to the door of the diner amusingly called, The Adventure for those familiar with older lore, Cinder moved ahead and stepped inside sweeping a gaze over the area. Inside sat what she assumed to be Tybalt around him stood four others; Tybalt didn't wear a weapon opening but the four men around him did. Cinder frowned somewhat to herself, she had spotted at least one starline, she had a similar weapon hidden in her boot but seeing the enemy have it never set well. The bits of metal that shot out of the gun and expanded out were nasty and messy to say the least. Once she confirmed that the place didn't have anyone outwardly hostile or deadly she leaned out and motioned the 'boss' in along with the others. Once her back was turned she murmured very softly, too softly for the group of pirates to hear but likely her group could pick it up, "Mycroft, keep an eye on the air...make sure it is regulated." A few flashes of lights along the device on her belt confirmed that Mycroft heard and understood. If they won't trade...or things go violent. Karaskis sounded more frustrated then worried as she spoke to Cinder. If she was stronger and had more control, many of their worries would be lessened. Jaster and Saljin remained last behind everyone. They hesitated in the doorway, watching behind them for a moment. Moving to opposite sides so that they could see what was going on as well as watch the backs of the others. Both would be the way out if needed. Each one studied the posture and equipment worn by the pirates, noting various things. The Diswies were not to be underestimated on what they would and would not do. The shifter idly glanced around as if somewhat bored. As hired muscle, he was certain someone somewhere had that attitude. He folded his arms leaning back against the wall after glancing at Eddard for a long moment. Let them think he was lax or even over confident. Either way the shifter would be ready for whatever happened. Jaster glanced over at Saljin shaking his head, but he grinned. Then he watched Cinder for a moment, his lips twitching upwards faintly. The thought of simply grabbing her and dragging her out of there crosses his mind but when he noted Eddard and his thoughts changed to simply taking what they wanted from the pirates, but he shoved the thoughts away. If the lustful feelings everyone had been having had changed, then what were these sensations that he had to constantly drive away? Why did he keep having thoughts of just taking what he wanted? Did he want to know? The avarice person is ever in want. Taj's voice was soft but Jaster was suddenly certain it contained the answer. Eddard approached Tybalt's table. As he drew closer, one of Tybalt's bodyguards moved to intercept and search him. He towered over all the men here and combined with his build, could be easily perceived as a threat. Eddard knew the kind of language these men spoke and in any many other circumstances he would have put this one on the floor to make a point. He resisted, however, preferring to keep it cordial. After being disarmed, Eddard was permitted to take a seat at Tybalt's table. The whole scene appeared a little awkward as Eddard looked as if he were an adult sitting at a child's table. He was so close to the captain and his size would easily allow him to reach across the table and seize the captain, taking him hostage before the bodyguards would even have a chance to act. He could probably even pick this table up one handed and use if for cover if he had too. He pushed the notion aside as they were not the knightly methods of engagement and he had already strayed far enough from that path. Eddard wouldn't lie, couldn't lie, but he could bend the truth a little which would do nicely. He introduced himself, "Greetings, you are Fleet Admiral Tybalt I presume?" Hopefully the term fleet admiral would help sugar coat the situation, after all, the man did command multiple ships so the title was fitting and opening with some form of flattery might ease some of the tension. Surely a man who takes to wearing such a lavish piece of jewelry could be seduced by such. Cinder found a spot to rest so she could keep an eye on the others along with Tybalt if someone was going to do something hostile she had a feeling it wouldn't come from the head man himself. Mycroft's lights continued on as well, for now things seemed kosher. Cinder had a feeling they would stay that way, the Diswes were pirates but they were known for doing business here which made this place somewhat safer. Tybalt looked up to Eddard despite the other man's side he didn't seem intimidated. Tybalt's bodyguards seemed the most intimidated once it became apparent how big Eddard actually was; two had shifted to holding their hands resting on their weapons. Cinder noted this but also noted the subtle body language that gave away their own nervousness. "I am Tybalt, and I have heard you wish audience to discuss business? You are in the business of buying it seems. Your contact did not seem overly clear on what but I'm sure your here to clear that up." Tybalt's voice had a strange soothing quality despite his harsh look, there was more to his leading then just harshness and brute strength. "I will not lengthen our stay too long to this place and waste our times. So feel free to tell me what you are in the market for buying." When people went to the Diswes they knew what they wanted, the pirates weren't the sorts to let you idly browsing over their wares. Jaster studied all the pirates one at a time taking in their clothing, equipment, and expressions. His own expression was idle and yet curious as he watched them and listened to Tybalt and Eddard. Hopefully the pirate would give them a price they could play and they could get out of here. They still needed to find out who this person was that they were looking for, but only if they got the opal necklace. He would have suggested just taking what they wanted and running but without knowing who it was, they had no choice but to do it this way. Saljin leaned indolently against the wall, lazily as if what was going on did not matter to him in the least. Except where it pertained to him as a bodyguard. He continued to watch the pirates for any actions but it was obvious he was in no hurry to do anything unless necessary. Let them assume it was either confidence or stupidity on his part. Either way it was obvious he was just muscle brought along from the way he acted, although it was obvious that he was listening to every word said. "Ah, a man who is to the point, something in common you and my employer share. Well, to be honest you have a couple of things of ours and we have come to collect them. Fortunately, our employer understands the name of the game and will not seize them back, but instead sends us as patrons. Patrons with what I think is a more than reasonable offer for some bauble and some human remains. Additionally, to show our good faith, I've been instructed to purchase some help that we might assess your wares and hopefully continue business in the long run." Eddard assessed the man. He liked dealing with men who weren't afraid of him, it was always a welcome change of pace. But was this man not afraid for the right reasons? He had to wonder. Perhaps he was a cyborg or even possibly a decoy android, who could really be sure in this realm of super science. He had no way of knowing aside from casting his sight spell but he didn't want to disrupt this proceeding. All he could do is take things at face value and hope he didn't have to deal with Eid. "Why don't we start the negotiation with the remains. When you acquired the vessel Athenia, there was a collection of remains. These belonged to someone particularly close to our employer. He wishes them back so that they might come to find their intended resting place." Slowly reaching into his personal pouch and not the one provided by Arithon, Eddard felt around for a fair sized gem. He pulled out a 1 inch lace agate, swirled blue and white, and set it on the table before Tybalt. This ought to be more than enough to cover the purchase and any service fees associated with their keeping and delivery. How does that suit you?" Tybalt rested back, he quirked a brow slightly it was clear he was familiar with what Eddard spoke of. As he laid the agate out Tybalt's eyes skimmed over it. "A fine gem, though it seems you either believe I am very thick or you have been misinformed." Tybalt reached over and idly picked the gem up flittering it through his fingers as one that is familiar with gem handling might, "because those remains you speak of...well the only ones that I am guessing you could be speaking of are after all rather popular." Tybalt let the statement hang in the air, Cinder wondered to herself if Panacea had been attempting to gain the bones again. "These remains however are not human. There are also scales with them...though I've seen quite a few dead Draconians and this looks nothing like them." Cinder's eyes widened just ever so slightly, there had been something about scales in Panacea's journal. She had overlooked it...kicking herself mentally she moved up to lean down and speak with the 'boss'. Murmering so her voice was soft but didn't carry too much she spoke to Eddard, "those are the ones Boss." She then backed up and glanced over to Arithon, it was likely that they would have to up the price somewhat the pirate didn't seem he would be letting them off 'easily'. "But at times I have come to find that not all questions are needed. I can have the 'remains' brought from the ship. But as you noted shipping and delivery can be expensive at times. It will be a hundred galatic credits for the loss of cargo space as well as the strain carrying the remains will put on my crew's back." Tybalt looked somewhat amused and curious as he spoke looking over to Eddard. Jaster listened to them barter about the bones. The pirates would not believe them about the end of everything coming. They'd still want the money and gems for the bones and necklace. He frowned a bit at having to pay a price to save everyone. The pirates included. But he held himself back from taking action though at the moment it was what he really wanted to do. Instead he glanced over at Saljin to refocus himself. Saljin watched Jaster a moment, raising an eyebrow in his direction before turning back to the watching the pirates as indolently as he had been. Jaster would behave himself though he was wondering what he was thinking. Something was pushing at him again. He nearly sighed, hoping that he'd not get them all into trouble like he usually did. It would not do to cause trouble before they got the items necessary. He trusted Cinder and the rest to make the right decisions here. "Well, unfortunately our organization doesn't recognize the credit system of this star system, largely in part because its origin's stretch beyond this galaxy's reach. I hope you're fine settling for things with material value." He fumbled around in his pouch until he found what he was looking for. "You are a stiff business man, but whats a man to do?" He flipped blue quartz onto the table top. "There, that should cover everything in regards to the bones." Eddard eyed the pendant that hung around Tybalt's neck. "Now, how much for my man's precious heirloom that hangs around your neck? I assume it will cost me more than these 'lesser' stones, maybe something a little rarer?" He raised an eyebrow, "something a little more...precious?" Cinder watched Eddard flick the gem to Tybalt, quirking a brow somewhat as she does. Leaning slightly she murmurs to Arithon, "Get ready to move up, we'll need the diamond soon." It seemed that everyone was attempting to keep the Dragonlord's treasure intact which she could respect but she did not want Arithon to feel as if his journey had been for naught. Hearing the cost for storage she added, "a hundred galatic credits is about the same as an ounce of gold...at least it was last time I was here."Tybalt watched Eddard closely as he spoke, when he mentioned something more precious the pirate didn't seem surprised he eyed the amulet around his neck. It seemed as if he was expecting such, before answering Tybalt held up the gem and looked it over as if gauging it's value. With a flicker of his hand the gem disappeared, "it may be easier to use gold as well as gems. Pretty baubles but many aren't worth their true value until cut which can be costly to have done." Tybalt looked over the group as if sizing them up; Cinder had a feeling the talk of gold was more then an idle suggestion. He was feeling out attempting to see how high they could go...she wasn't sure if she should warn the others, and really there wasn't any way of stopping it from happening. Tybalt gestured to one of his men, the man nodded and headed out. "He'll bring your bones, now your asking to take this bit of pretty I've grown quite fond of. You see it's mine now spoils of war, so whoever once possessed it is a bit out of luck." Tybalt held the pendant up looking it over in the light, "fascinating thing...wouldn't happen to know a bit about it would you?" Cinder stayed rested back but she somehow had a feeling this was getting more and more dangerous. Jaster watched the exchange with interest, but there was little he could do about how he really felt. This was the only way they could get the items and still find the person they needed to. Hopefully whomever it was still resided on the Squalldancer and was unharmed. They'd not really know until after this was over with. But some portion of him did not trust these pirates. They were, afterall, pirates and prone to taking what they wanted and even killing those in their way. Taj stirred uneasily, but was amused. Virtue has a veil, vice a mask. Saljin shifted slightly when the pirate left. It was not that he was uneasy, but that he was simply trying to watch what was going on. He could see clearly the gem that were being exchanged. Eddard seemed to know what he was doing as did Cinder. Hopefully they'd get the opal and be able to leave cleanly. There was enough trouble without borrowing more. Arithon had been paying attention, really. While his inclination was to doze off while standing there, a neat trick learned during the many many meetings his Clan seemed to enjoy, it wouldn't do him or anyone any good if things went badly and they need to fight or flee. So, he was awake and paying close enough attention when Cinder whispered to him. The diamond? Jin Huang had been loathe to part with the treasure, as he had been intending to make it a centerpiece of the presentation to the Crown, but, well. That was hardly something to be concerned with at this point. Before taking a step forward, Arithon pulled out a small soft cloth, slinging his pack around and opening it carefully. There was gold within, gold and more jewels that flickered dimly in the light before the demon's arm concealed them. He'd had the foresight to place the diamond near to the top - not on top, as that would be too easy for a thief to reach, but close enough that it was the work of a moment to dig it out. He held it in the cloth, the way he'd been told to, as getting fingerprints on such a fine jewel would sharply decrease it's value. Now, he stepped forward, edging himself next to Eddard. Opening the cloth with one hand, the cut diamond shone brilliantly in the light. It was only slightly smaller than Arithon's hand. While the size alone was enough to catch someone's attention, what held it was the elegant silvery metal worked on it's surface. "White gold," Ari mentioned off hand, holding it out for further inspection. "Well obviously the 'who' is a bit out of luck, you're delivering his remains to us. And unfortunately I know little about the history of the pendant. It is an heirloom, and one that our employer would like to keep with the family who have always possessed it. It is understandable that you would grow quite fond of it as it is as you say, 'pretty,' but the fact of the matter is you stand to gain more now and also later down the road if we can reach some sort of agreement amicably." Turning his head, Eddard indicated the diamond that Arithon had fished out of his pack. "Now, what do you say to that bit of pretty. Like he said, thats white gold on top of a large, masterly cut gems. Why its as if we've plucked a star from the heavens and brought it down to offer you in exchange for one piece of plundered treasure, who's, I might add, monetary value doesn't even hold a candle to the shadow of the likes of this." Tybalt's eyes were locked on the detailed diamond much as Cinder had guessed they would have been. She could see his hand twitch slightly as he attempted to keep himself from reaching out and attempting to grasp the gem. It was clear that it had caught his attention. The eyes of two of Tybalt's guards however were lingering on the bag that Arithon was carrying; watching somewhat keenly. Cinder had a feeling they had seen a flash of the gems within, one male and one female she had a feeling that they both were somewhat more keen then the other hirelings in the area. The female she noted carried a starline in plain view. while observing Cinder stepped slightly and shifted her body so her hand could be positioned toward her weapon and not be in plain view of the pirates. The male guard Cinder had seen watching the gems leaned to speak to Tybalt, his eyes leaving the bag. She wondered if Arithon had noticed...hopefully the guardian would be aware; and now the pirates know that they had much more on them. "Rarities, you bring one priceless treasure to bargain for another. What a fantastic place upon the edges of the universe you must come from." Now Tybalt's eyes swept over Arithon, the pirate's cold gaze locking on the man a moment before he looked back to Eddard and spoke again, "that diamond is more then acceptable as you could guess...but I will require at least the equivalant of five thousand galactic credits. To reimburse me for losing such an artifact, and to buy myself a new necklace." Tybalt smiled faintly his eyes keen with greed flickering from Eddard and then to Arithon and back. "And I do look forward to doing business with you. I believe we have some very interesting set of slaves this time, to take back to this mysterious place with you." As he spoke there was the sound of something hollow in his voice. Jaster watched closely during the time the diamond left the pack and neared the table. He caught Cinder's movement from the corner of his eye, but remained standing as he was. His hand was already on his belt and close enough to the weapon he wore. He wasn't about to take chances though he watched them all carefully. He was sure that they'd seen Arithon's bag of riches. No matter. The pirates weren't going to get anything more than they had to spend. Saljin had noted it also, but looked even more bored if possible. He still leaned indolently back against the wall, still able to see both the door and the pirates. It took little movement to shift and that was his advantage at this moment. And they needed all they could get. Although the pirates would most likely remain peacable this day. It would be on the next day that trouble could start. They'd want to get all they could before acting against the group. At least that was his best guess. Cinder was alert and he could see that Jaster was though he was acting as if not. No less than he was doing. Hopefully they'd be able to get the person and get out on the next day also. Arithon shifted uneasily, the attention he was now recieving entirely unwelcome. Of course, telling himself that they were really more interested in the treasure he carried didn't help matters any. He'd be able to defend himself against a physical assault, but against a gun or a long ranged attack, Ari knew he didn't have a chance. "More gems, or gold?" the demon asked as politely as he could. Hopefully the pirate would request gems, those were closer to the top and easier to dig out. And hopefully someone could tell him exactly which ones to pull out! This credit system was entirely too confusing for the young demon. Eddard looked to Arithon a bit surprised. He didn't think the demon would enter the bargaining table the way he did and give all the power in the negotiations directly to Tybalt, but what was done was done, and now Eddard could only sit back and let the transaction proceed. Regarding Tybalt, Eddard realized it may have been more credible, and probably much more enjoyable, to strong arm him as opposed to bargaining. Men such as this respected strength and extremes. Had they roughed up one his men bad enough, they would have likely had a great deal more respect from the pirate. Cinder shifted slightly listening to those at the table, she had caught how the price had been upped considerably. Tybalt she felt was likely attempting to see how much he could gain or rather how much they would be willing to bargain. Truthfully as long as he held what they needed Tybalt held the cards needed to win this negotiation. Resting back Tybalt's eyes flickered over to Arithon, a small smile for a moment curled on his lips before he answered. "gems is fine, diamonds actually." He was testing and considering as he spoke a thoughtful look upon his face. The two guards that had been watching the bag Arithon held shifted slightly as if feeling the tension build up in the room. Cinder stepped forward and spoke softly to Arithon, she had a feeling that if left to his own devices Tybalt would attempt to rifle through the bag Arithon carried. She speaks softly, "no more then two to three small diamonds."Cinder glanced over to Jaster and Saljin a moment, and then out to the street sure enough she saw more of Tybalt's crew on the opposite side of the street. Jaster followed Cinder's movements, his eyes alert though he'd not moved stance at all until now. Then he slowly turned his head to look out the doorway. He stared for a moment pointed at those across the street, then smirked slightly as he turned back towards where Tybalt and the other pirates were. But Jaster was not the only one looking through green eyes. Taj gazed outwards, expression firm and a bit more confident as he studied the pirates for a moment. However this finished, they would do whatever was necessary to bring home all three items they'd been sent for. Saljin had been able to see the door the entire time. He noted them without moving his gaze which was still on Tybalt who was nearest to Eddard and Arithon. The ones outside were perhaps backup. Perhaps more, but this would be costly for Tybalt because he was the one the shifter would go for. Fangs on their captain's throat would go a long way to making them rethink their actions. Arithon wasn't sure what all this talking was about, and was grateful for Cinder's whispered instructions. Nodding slowly and setting the gem down gently on the table, he opened the pack once more, fishing about for some of the smaller diamonds he'd packed. Keeping one hand close to his katana's hilt, and a wary eye on the tabled diamond, the demon opened his hand to reveal the prizes. Three smaller diamonds, each about the size of a thumbnail, sat on the cloth. They were all cut, displaying their shimmering glory for all to see. Obviously he couldn't glance out the door like the others, but a warning prickle down the back of his neck made the demon switch his free hand edging closer to the prized diamond, instead of his weapon. Let the others handle the fighting, he had to take care of his Lord's treasure first. Eddard didn't speak at first as he was waiting for Arithon to place the increased offer onto the the table. When this was done, he made sure to intercept any attempts to actually hand the diamonds over, preferring to keep them on his side of the table and out of the pirate's reach until the pendant was off of Tybalt's neck. "Do we have an accord? The diamonds for the pendant and we'll meet again tomorrow in order that we might view your stock of slaves?" He extended his hand in gesture of good faith. Of course the game had to be played and Eddard, though annoyed, knew he had to comply. On the other side of the coin, however, he had to be prepared for the worst. Tybalt's eyes flickered to the smaller diamonds on the table, a slow smile started to spread over his face. It wasn't reassuring to any degree, if anything there was something frightening about it; something dangerous behind such an expression. "Yes, that will do nicely. And we will still be around tomorrow if you wish to look over the stock in slaves." Tybalt's greedy hungry eyes looked up to Eddard after he spoke. Tybalt reached pulling the necklace off, resting his hand on it halfway across the table before reaching with the other hand to shake Eddard's hand. It was a firm shake but the strength in it gave away nothing more then that of a human's. "I look forward to more business with you." Further back in the room Cinder tensed if something was going to happen it would happen soon. Jaster straightened up slightly as if a shift due to boredom. It was obvious that the deal was nearly over and now was when something could go wrong or even other actions happen. He wasn't happy about facing them the next day again, but they almost had two of the items needed. His hands stayed where they were but he was ready. Saljin likewise tensed keeping an eye on the door as well as on the pirates just like he had been. His eyes flicked over the other pirates with Tybalt. Now would be when it would be known if they were going to get out with what they wanted or not. And if they did, it became a worry for the next day of what would happen when they met again. There had to be some way to safeguard what they were obtaining now as well as the gems that Arithon had brought with him. And once they had them, what would prevent the pirates from trying to retake them once they were in space again? They had taken down the Athenia. He had heard they numbered several ships also though they'd lost a good many in the fight. Hopefully the Captain's Daughter was fast enough to get them all out and away before the pirates had a chance. Eid stirred again from silence. Do you think that you are clever, Eddard? Not particularly, but this is how business is concluded. What will you do if he betrays his word?If it comes to violence, you can imagine. And if it doesn't come to violence but he still betrays you?Find some way to ensure that he DOES fulfill the end of his bargain.Very well then, you have not my aid. Let me see you handle this. That's fine and well, but really, when have you helped me? From my stand point you've been nothing but a burden.Eid was silent once more. Eddard turned and nodded to Arithon, signaling him to start turning over the diamonds as he shook Tybalt's hand. Arithon wrapped the three smaller diamonds in the cloth he was holding them in, setting the bundle down on the table before grabbing another cloth to wrap the larger one in. Once that was done, he picked them both up with one hand, the other having edged back to hover near his katana. There was an edge here, one that he did not like, and the demon meant to be prepared. "There," he breathed out, setting the bundles down where Tybalt could freely grab them. Taking an immediate step back to free some room in case a fight erupted, Arithon waited to see if anything would go wrong.

...||Dealing With Pirates Week of Greed: Arithon Tybalt smiled widely allowing Eddard to take the pendant. He then reached out and picked up the two cloths containing the diamonds. Behind him the female guard's hand twitched slightly as if she was expecting something to happen as well. Cinder turned slightly shifting her gaze to look over to those outside, they hadn't moved but the fact that there seemed to be some sort of 'back up' did not bode well. Tybalt despite the growing tension in the room rested back in a more relaxed manner. They more then outnumber us...Thanks..I hadn't noticed, Cinder remarked back sharply. The side door of the establishment was knocked inward quickly causing Cinder to jump slightly. Her hand moving toward her weapon on instinct she just barely stopped herself from pulling her weapon. Moving through the door was a rather harried looking pirate, Cinder recognized him as the one that was sent off earlier. In his arms he carried a heavy looking grav-lock chest (metal chest with a combination lock pad on the top of it, digital screen. Grav-lock refers to it being locked via very powerful magnets within the chest.). Cinder's eyes flickered to the device and she clenched her hand, forgetting the set up of Eddard as the boss for a moment she looked to Tybalt. "I trust your going to open it and show us the merchandise, as well as hand over the combination." Cinder looked up at Tybalt her eyes going cold watching the man. Tybalt smiled faintly, "I will of course show you that which you want is within. I will even allow you to keep the chest. However...the combination may turn out to be rather expensive." Cinder's hand twitched again in agitation her bones were starting to ache she was going to need more medication soon or she wasn't going to be useful much longer. Licking her lips she leaned and whispered to Eddard, "make him show us the bones and scales...don't pay the b*****d for the combination. I'll crack it on the ship."Cinder tilted her head slightly as if listening to something Tybalt said she then stood up slightly murmuring, "got it boss."Stepping back to the others Cinder spoke softly, "grav-lock is very hard to bust...he's messing with us." Her eyes flickered over to the chest as she spoke. Jaster had straightened up slightly as had Saljin when the door burst open. Both had been more than ready but eased off when noting the chest he carried. The bones most likely. When Cinder stepped over to them, the shifter still watched the doorway as well as Tybalt and his. He listened but had decided it would not do to shift his eyes from what was happening. Safety can be hidden in another's ploy. Checkmate. Taj smirked in some humor. It amused him to use what Tybalt thought to do as much as the feeling that the man played a game he could not win against who and what they were. He did not see what was at risk so could not calculate the lengths they would go to. Jaster smiled, thinking for a moment as he studied the situation. It was a calculated move on his part that Tybalt would not know what was hidden about them all. Little did he understand what he truly faced in all of them. Two minds and thoughts for more than one, though most spoke cryptically as gods always seemed to. Especially to their hosts. He watched Tybalt and Eddard a moment, then moved forwards so that only their gouping could hear. "Taj thinks we should use it to our advantage and use his ploy against him. It presents safety to get the bones back where we need them to be and it would take time for anyone else to open the chest and try to steal them. I'm sure our imaginary patron can pay to have it undone. And it leaves a great deal about us unknown to Tybalt. No more digging in the bag for gems. After he shows them, we still have them." Then with a smirk, he added, "He should have charged us for the chest, no?"Eddard raised his hand, waving the two off. "Let us make sure our desired quarry is with in the chest. After that, we can discuss the cost of the code." As he waited to hear Tybalt's response Eddard regarded the pendant briefly before tucking it way into his vest. Cinder glanced over toward Jaster and murmured softly, "Lets just get through this and not give him any ideas. I think the chest was in the original hundred...he's just started milking us for more." Cinder's eyes went over the area again, they were cold and still she was working and ready if it would come to battle. Already her mind was configuring what they would need to do to survive if it came to that. Tybalt rested back smiling faintly, gesturing to the man that dragged the chest in he nodded. Turning so the group could not see what he was doing the man quickly typed in some numbers. Within was dark cloth...pulling it away he revealed a set of bones with scales laid among them. Cinder's eyes flickered over the bones they were not human not as she would have considered them...those scales though. Dragon...an actual mythical dragon...she wondered what exactly Ari was going to come out looking like with such pieces to gather. Somethings are beyond your human understanding. Feeling it was highly unlikely that Karaskis fully understood Cinder frowned faintly as her only reply to the voice. "Now you have seen your bones, lets talk prices for the combination." Tybalt had to know that there were ways to open such a chest; though not easy or quick. What he was hoping to gain was somewhat of a mystery...and he may also just be attempting to test them. Cinder glanced to Eddard waiting for the big man to speak. Whatever happened here they still needed the last pieces they had come for. The human. Jaster had moved back at Eddard's dismissal. He was quite certain that it was a test to see whether they were fools or not. But if not then it was greed on the part of the pirate. Mayhap he thought to get all he could and then still try to take more from them as he had the Athenia. It had taken a great deal of firepower to take down that ship and Triq had said he'd lost several himself to take such a prize. Whether test or not, what the pirate did not know was an advantage for them. Saljin had listened but his attention was on keeping track of everything else. To him it was more important to watch for the actions that would lead to all of them fighting their way out. The pirate was calculating and cold. If he considered them mere servants of someone else, he could very well decide to take back the things. It was a hard choice to make. He was suddenly glad it was not his. He wary kept a constant watch on those outside as well as those inside. Likely they would get out with their skins intact, but one never knew with people such as these. They could as easily shake your hand as cut your throat. Eddard reached into his personal pouch again. This time he procured a tiger's eye, a rather common and inexpensive rock. Tossing it onto the the table he says, "That should cover the code and then some." Eddard gave him a toothy grin showing Tybalt how much his petty greed over a minor convenience was worth to him and his group. Cinder's eyes flickered to the stone and then Eddard, she then looked over to the pirates on the other side of the table. Things could get ugly, mostly because the pirates knew that they outnumbered the other group. Hopefully Eddard's move would provide something useful in response. Tybalt's eyes went to the stone on the table, for a moment there was a pause from him and his group. And then the Pirate Admiral laughed, it was a full throated sound and a bit unexpected. Chuckling somewhat he smiled and nodded, "well played then. For your amusement I will hand over the codes." Tybalt took a piece of paper from the inside pocket of his jacket and wrote down several strings of numbers. Holding the paper up he looked to Eddard in the eyes, still unflinching and unafraid, "make sure you bring something of worth if you plan to do business again tomorrow." He then passes the paper over, three sets of numbers twenty seven digits in each string. Three sets he apparently knew from memory. Cinder glanced over to Jaster and nodded slightly to him, "I'll get the Boss' chest, you grab the door." She was pretty certain that Jaster could carry the chest since she knew from experiance he could carry her. But she didn't take chance and moved over to easily pick up the metal contraption. Then she moved for the door, pausing to wait for Eddard. They'd likely realize she had cybernetics in her after she picked the chest up without help; if that would work for or against the group she couldn't tell and as the meeting had worn on so had the pain in her joints so really Cinder wasn't caring much at that point. Jaster nodded, moving towards the door. Holding it open, he watched those outside for a moment. They didn't appear to be moving, though all were watching. He turned back to Cinder as he held the door. She looked tired and he was tempted to make her give him the chest, but he also knew eyes were nearby. The less known of all of them, the better. At least that was the impression he got from Taj repeatedly. Saljin stood his ground. He would be last and after Eddard and Arithon moved towards the door to bring up the rear. They needed to do some talking amongst themselves and then he would do what he needed to in order to find out which one was Faran. He would have to be sly about getting inside and into the venting system and he'd have to be careful in case there were other creatures within. But he'd been practicing and he should be able to hold the shape long enough to find out what they needed to know. Hopeully there was nothing worse than rats within. "Indeed I will. See you on the morrow, Captain." With that, Eddard took his leave, following Cinder and Arithon out the door. He didn't look around cautiously like the others. Regardless of how dangerous the situation was, Eddard knew not fear. If they were attacked, all he would have to do is get his hands on one to make a brutal example of what the pirates had gotten themselves into. Not that this activity would stop them, on the contrary it would likely draw their fire, but at least it would give time for the others to escape. He would have to be ready to hand off the pendant to someone if it came to that. The few scattered pirates on the outside watched the group but didn't make to intercept them as they exited the building. As if they were waiting for something more or perhaps had some other plans. Glancing slightly over the other pirates Cinder then started down the street, she hoped they were just insurance. After a block it seemed that is just what they were, as more didn't seem to be following along with the group. "Lets get back to the ship...likely there is someone shadowing us. So they'll end up knowing where we berth. We'll go over the plans once we are safely inside the shield...it's going to be a tight schedule." Cinder spoke softly to the others before moving along as if nothing had happened. Intrigue and danger, this is the life you craved and still do. Karaskis seemed alert as well but still found time to interject a bit of observation to her host. Cinder lead them through the various areas of the city moving with all haste back to the Captain's Daughter. Back at the ship, Jaster glanced over to Cinder. "You look tired." He stood nearby watching the others as he did so. "I don't think the pirates are going to attack us openly here. They do business here too much. I think it's on the return trip that we might have to pay attention more. The Athenia was a huge ship and they had the firepower to take it down."Triq glanced over at Jaster a moment. "I heard they lost eight ships doing so, but it was a prize their captain wouldn't pass up. And they still have 12 left. Or so I heard. And we've got lots of food ready for all of you. We figured that you might be hungry when you got back. You've been gone a while." She could barely cook, but with Kalfyra telling her what to do, they had a great deal of food ready and waiting. "Where's your staff, Triq?" Saljin asked noting it wasn't with her. She never let it out of her sight, but it was nowhere to be seen. He watched her for several long moments, but then pushed his attention elsewhere. Watching her closely, Jaster smirked as Taj snorted in amusement. A muffled curse could be heard coming from the nearby closet. "He's in the closet. Pretzel must have reached even her limit. Or Kalfyra got tired of them arguing and shut him away." He'd begun thinking of the staff more as Pretzel than a weapon, though technically he was both. Something bothered him about the staff and it hung on the peripheral of his knowledge for a moment. Taj was remembering more than he was saying about the reason the creature was there. But the closet worked well enough for the moment. At least he didn't have to make Pretzel shut up himself. Eddard was glad that they made it back to the ship hanger without any trouble though as Cinder said, they were most likely followed. Turning to Arithon, "If we make it through this and are able to release Lord Harmodius, telly your master I will reimburse him one way or another." He didn't like that they had to rely on a dragon king's horde. Eddard knew little about these dragons, but had encountered other, technically lesser, dragons who prided themselves on their personal cache of stock piled treasure and wondered if Arithon's master was the same sort. Arithon shook his head at Eddard's words. "My Lord gave this t'us freely, and he'd probably not like t'have that returned. He'd be pleased enough to get the Crown back t'normal, and whatever is leftover from this is just fine." Perhaps a bit of an assumption on Ari's part, but he felt it was the right thing to say, that it was what Jin Huang would have said. Cinder sighed and rested back, her eyes shifting to glance toward the cabinet that Pretzel was hidden within upon hearing the curse. "Lets go see what sort of food Kalfyra and Triq put together and talk things over." Cinder took with her the container with the bones in it, she wasn't going to let it out of her sight at least not yet, "I'm going to reconfigure the combination on this, Eddard I'll need the combination that Tybalt gave you to do it. I'm thinking random numerals myself but if anyone has any suggestions let me know." As the group headed into the mess area Kalfyra paused, the Aoidei had found an apron somewhere and looked rather humorous in her wrap skirt, bikini top and the apron on. However, there was a large lay of food over the table and counter that gave the suggestion that even if amusing the apron was there for more then just appearance. "There's some meats there...a type of bird bit like chicken and I think the man said something about sikabrus or something; cooked up a bit like venison actually. Couple of types of breads there, Triq was great help getting them done. Some of the local greens, I added some herbs as well and some tubers; they seemed rather bland." Kalfyra chattered on for a moment. Cinder chuckled and gestured to the table before taking a seat, true to her word keeping the grav-lock chest close to her seat. "Right, now Saljin mentioned something about smaller shifting sizes. So the idea is we give him the amulet and let him sneak onto the pirate's ship; start going through the slave pens and find where they are keeping whoever we need. Lets hope whoever it is, is still on the ship." Reaching forward Cinder started filling her plate and motioned to Kalfyra to come and join them, she learned form experiance that the Aoidei wouldn't if not told to. "Once we know who it is, we know who to buy from them." Cinder sighed slightly and glanced over to the others, "Saljin I suggest Jaster or someone else at least one if not a group wait somewhere closer to the pirate's ship in case things go South and you need help with a retreat."You can be quite the leader when you want to be...how did you end up a pirate. There was curiosity from Karaskis and silence from Cinder; of the things they had shared...that was one of them she had not, even if the Goddess had figured at least some of it out. Cinder looked toward the others waiting to hear what they would say and giving Karaskis only silence to her question. Kalfyra tilted her head listening curiously tot he going ons picking a roll up to pick bits of the bread off as she does. Saljin nodded, as he filled his plate with some of what had been cooked. "I'll shift into a feline, but I'll need someone to tie the pendant around my neck. A cat would probably be looking for a mouse or rat and I don't think they'd pay too much attention to me. It would not do to try to carry it and then possibly lose it. It glows when I'm close to the proper person, right? If so, then I should be able to identify them. When we see them in the line up, I can always indicate which one it is after seeing them." Jaster agreed, "I'll go along with Saljin, just in case he needs help." After eating a few bites, he commented, "This is good, Kalfyra. And I'm glad Triq was helpful." Triq had sat down beside Saljin, Jaster noted in amusement. "Oh! I want to go too! Please!" Triq piped up suddenly, watching Jaster excitedly. "I had to stay her this time, can I please go?"
"Only if you behave." Saljin growled. "And don't try to kill me again." He was quite certain that somehow she would hit him again. She frowned, pouting, shoving the hair from her eyes. "I only did that by accident. And I apologized for it. Several times." "You can go, Triq, but no arguing with Pretzel or I'll send you back." Jaster smirked, stifling a laugh when Saljin grimaced. "Triq and I will go. I'm sure just two of us is enough." He'd not realized he was so hungry. Strangely he seemed to be eating more recently. Was it because of Taj and the changes he was beginning to feel? He'd found nothing yet, but there were times he just felt odd as if not quite himself. But then he was not himself. He was Taj also. A snort of amusement slipped through him, causing his lips to twitch faintly. Taj was amused as much as he was by the thought of not being himself. Neither were. They were becoming each other, but in truth, someone different. At least in part. "All the same, if your master ever needs aid of any sort, and I can help, tell him not to hesitate to ask." Eddard understood, but still felt at the very least, that he owed the Dragon King a small debt of gratitude for helping to make this negotiation possible. Turning to the group and chiming in, "I like the idea of changing the code on the chest. It will serve as a deterrent at the very least." He reached into his vest, closing his hand around the pendant and pulling it out. "Here, catch." Tossing the pendant to Cinder he asks, "Does it respond to being close to the bones in anyway? It is supposed to react to the Lord's love's remains, right?" After a brief pause for response, "I was thinking, should we buy more than one slave? I figured if we buy one and only one, this Tybalt might figure out that we need a specific person from his slave stock, but if we get a few, maybe 3 or 4, the pirates might think that we are actually just buying slaves." Really, that wasn't the only reason. Eddard had always been opposed to slavery. If he could purchase a few extras, he would gladly give them their freedom once they arrived back at the Pantheon's city. Arithon nodded to acknowledge Eddard's offer. "I'll be sure to let him know." Standing awkwardly as he watched the others eat, Ari made a quick decision. "Just let me know if y'need me or th' treasure," he said, offering a short bow to the others. "I'll be in m'cabin if y'do." Cinder paused from eating and reached out catching the pendant, "hmm, I'll hope the chest up and take a look. Best get an idea now so Saljin will know what to look for." Taking another bite of a roll before turning Cinder leaned down and typed in rather quickly typed in the three lines of code. "These chests are a pain to say the least, the coding is so complicated it is near impossible to just crack the coding. I was going to pull out the hull cracker and bust it open if I had to." Leaning back slightly Cinder allowed the chest to open, "even with the cracker it would have taken over a day to get through the chest. So they can be a very big deterrent, I suggest we put the pendant in with the bones once we have the person." Cinder offered a wave to Arithon as he headed, she wondered if he actually ever ate anything. "Alright then, we'll be going in for the slave buying tomorrow."Holding the pendant out, spinning a moment as it unravelled from the chain it then seemed to almost pull toward the bones. "Well doesn't seem anything so obtrustive as glowing, Saljin come here and hold it a moment." Cinder turned and held the pendant out to Saljin so he could become familiar with what it did. ((I couldn't find anywhere how it would react, I may have to edit if it turns out to be wrong.)) Cinder rested back and glanced to Eddard, "that isn't a bad idea, might give some poor sods a bit of a chance as well. Ship is big enough that we could take on a few extra no problem." Cinder had a feeling that Eddard may not just be making an idle suggestion but she let it go; if he wanted to play hero she'd let him in the little ways. Herself she learned that no matter where you were in the galaxy, being the hero usually lead to it being painful. Saljin watched as she used the necklace. Holding it in his hand, he understood what she had wanted him to feel and know about it. "I think I understand, Cinder. I'll just pay close attention to it." Jaster nodded also. "More would help to throw them off. I think the less they know about us, the better for us. I'm sure they will try something at some point." He leaned back in his chair to watch Saljin with the opal. He was testing it as he moved it closer and then further away. Triq was watching closely as Saljin studied the reactions. "I'll need something to tie this around my neck after I shift, Jaster. I think one of those extra leather lacings will work." Saljin stated. "Hmm.. I have one in my pack in the room. I'll get it. We'll go when you are ready. The sooner we know the better." Jaster stated. "As soon as you are done eating."Satisfied with everyone's agreement to buy multiple slaves, Eddard gave a nod and relaxed. He stuck around, listening to the conversation, and interjecting when necessary since they were planning the events to come, but had nothing to add at the moment. Instead, he contented himself to eat, for a man his size had a hearty appetite. He grabbed two plates and filled one with a variety of meats and the other with a number of other things from the other food groups. Silently, he sat to work consuming the meal. Though not hysterically amusing, again it was like watching an adult sit at a child's table, only this time the adult had to use child sized eating implements, the silverware appearing dwarfed in his hands.
