You're damn right making it legal won't bring anything down. Men are a lot more sex crazed then you might think. For a lot of men it's the only reason they go on dates! Sex shouldn't be business! The signature start for the sex talk is, "When two people love each other..." What you said about men getting caught with prostitutes, *I couldn't agree more with you about finding their pieces* the number of men doing that will increase! Because it will be perfectly legal. They won't have to worry about going to jail for it! Breaking more woman's hearts. Leading to divorce. Divorce can destroy children. *trust me I've seen it* It can cause people to have money issues. It can cause people to become depressed. Depression can lead to suicide. I do understand that I am only 'assuming' these things, but divorce is the leading cause for depression and financial issues.

Woooaah relax. Breathe. You seem to be running yourself in frantic circles and this is actually stressing me out just to read, so please calm yourself.
About the divorce part. Some marriages, after years and child birth, become sexless. Starting at a couple times a week and becoming barely more than a couple times a year. That may work for the labido of one in the marriage but not the other. This can lead to cheating with women (not prostitutes). Having meaningless sex is one thing, but with real women there is a strong posibility of an emotional relationship starting, and THAT is the real problem. My parents would still be together if it was the former. The latter is what happened, and it caused divorce. So prostitution could actually save marriages.

*Tries to calm down* Sorry, I do this a lot. I just have one thing about your reply that confused the hell out of me... How is paying a complete stranger to have sex with you saving marriages? Sure there isn't any real emotion, but it's sex! Real sex. Not cyber sex or phone sex. If I was married and my husband did this, I would be heartbroken! I would feel like I wasn't good enough, and that the only reason he loved me was because of sex. Even if it wasn't true, that's how it would make most women and me, feel.

MEN ARE NOT SEX STARVED MANIACS. If prostitution was legalized, I think men could restrain themselves so as they don't become broke within the first week. You really have a low outlook on men don't you?

I'm not sure why you are trying to make this personal, but I will just ignore it for now. I don't have a low outlook on men. I am stating facts and only facts, Sex is just as much of an addiction as getting high. People loose their jobs, homes, family and friends because of drugs. World of War Craft causes people to loose their jobs and homes.Sex makes you feel good. Being high makes you feel good. World of War Craft gives you the pride and sense of accomplishment the real world may deprive you of. I also never said all men. Just the majority.

A minority have Sex addiction, and i'm not the one who brought divorce, suicide and prostitution into this conversation.

How is that making it personal? I didn't say that would happen to you. How does bringing those things up make it personally offending to you? Ummm... I am pretty sure you brought up prostitution when you made this topic.

The prostitution thing was a typo. And everything you have said is basically saying that prostitution is completely wrong when it isn't.

What makes it right? It makes people feel good? Bullying other makes the bully feel good but it made one of my best friends try to kill herself. BUT I understand that if people need money or they in danger of loosing their home that prostitution is way to get money. I understand that and would probably do the same thing. But doing that as a career, or just because you can is pointless, and degrading to women. You know back in the 'western' times places where the prostitutes were located were called Whore Houses? Being called a whore isn't fun.

The former has a possibility of being forgiven and never forgotten, the latter doesn't as the cheater may split the family and leave the marriage.

Humans are humans; when something is bad, we stay away and a select few venture forth. Children get high not just because it feels good, but because its wrong, forbiden- taboo.

Its wrong to drink.

Who agrees with that?

Maybe the Gaian sitting with a beer in hand (like myself) would say no. Why? It makes me feel good. Everyone does it and I do it responsibly.

And then the Gaian on the other end, with a bad experience with alcoholism, would say, yes. Why? It changes people and its against the law.

Isn't true, that young adolecents (simply due to the fact that their brains are still in a developing/learning stage) are more prone to try and discover the unknown, the forbidden?

Scenario A:

Skip class? Why? They say its wrong, but why? Let mefind out. Oh! I got written up. Won't do it again.

Scenario B:

Skip class? Why? I did it before, and no one wrote me up.

There's no thrill in scenario B. I know I wouldn't have done half the things I did in highschool if I knew it was normal.

Set a limit on something, and most will wait.

FORBID something, and there will definatly be trouble makers.

Don't you hear the way these kids talk?

"Don't give a ******** what the law say." "I ain't gotta listen to no law man." "I won't get caught."

The less things there are to be in trouble for= The less of a chance we are to get in trouble.

((Now, I may be rambling now, but its a free country.))

A man is paying for sex. He is basically saying "I am so pathetic and ugly I can only have sex if I pay for it." And women degrade themselves in front of cameras for money already. You are basically also saying that porn is completely wrong as well as they are both the same thing essentially.

Where in any of my post did I say that? Men CHOOSE it. It's easier than making the girl happy and having a relationship with her. I never said pathetic or ugly and that they can only have sex if they pay for it. Not once. I just said men would do it because it is the easy way out. Please stop putting words in my mouth, I'm not being sexist in anyway. Porn is different on so many levels! Both the guy and the girl are getting paid. The girl can set her limits. She says no butt sex, no butt sex. She says use a condom, they use a condom. It's that simple. Prostitutes pretty much do whatever the guy wants them to do because they need the money. Porn is directed like a movie, they are considered professionals. They become stars! They are signed to contracts and go to photo shoots and are in Play Boy. Big difference.

I don't think you are understanding the point here, sex isn't a form of 'goods'. It isn't manufactured. It would essentially give the economy that extra push that would totally destroy it.
A security force isn't something that's produced, either. There are so many businesses that don't produce anything but manpower. Prostitution would be the same thing, just another marketable service.

Chipmunk Giggles91
Besides, prostitution would take all of the value of sex away. It would also give men- MARRIED men- the right to go out and have sex with a prostitute because his wife wasn't in the mood. Yes, it would still be wrong, but it would be legal.
And your point is? Who cares? It happens already, why should it stop once it's legalised? And I don't know what kind of fantasy world you may live in, but marriage isn't exactly the "peas and carrots" that it once was.

Chipmunk Giggles91
It would take away the value of LOVE. Love is being with someone you care about, someone you want to spend the rest of your life with. Someone you will eventually *in some cases* start a family with. Sex is supposed to be beautiful thing that two people who love each other do. It's REPRODUCTION. It isn't intended to happen just to make people feel good.
What a load of hogwash. Love is a concept made by your chemicals in your brain when you feel attachment to a person, which you then interpret as an abstract concept. Marriage is a cornerstone to economics and it's FAILING because everybody wants to rush into marriage because it's been pounded into our heads from virtually day one. This in turn drives up the divorce rate and nobody's happy.

Chipmunk Giggles91
Sometimes women have no choice. Do you really think that is what someone would dream of doing when they are older? Having sex with whoever wants to have sex with you? No. The dream is to have a family, a nice house, a secure job that you can eventually retire from.
Nobody dreams about what they want to do until they're socialised to think that way. I'll guarantee your first memory/dream was not "I want to be a ..." And as for the "American Dream" of having a house, a spouse, kids, a pet, and blah, blah, blah? You can just go cram it, because that's what the rich tell the poor to keep the poor from realising just how shitty their lives really are. The same goes for religion (but I'll keep that for another rant).

Chipmunk Giggles91
Prostitutes become what they are because they can't find a job, or they are desperate for money. Fix the poverty and the economy, then see how many prostitutes will be walking the streets. The girls that DO choose to do it will most likely be in the porn industry. They can get more money for it (at least I think so) and they can become well known and even win awards,

I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that you're the type of person that says that a welfare mom is on welfare because she's lazy... In order to "fix the economy" we would have to force the 1,011 people who control $3.6 trillion do start rolling that money downhill. THEY WON'T DO IT. You know why? "Because we worked hard for our money, why shouldn't we keep it?" We would have to become a socialist economy, pay each person who has a job a similar wage and start treating everybody equally regardless of position. But humanity doesn't want that, because each person has the innate feeling that "I am better than you!" and wants to be treated better than the person next to him/her.

Its different because pornography is a form of entertainment- prostitution is a form of service.

Much like a massage or even a hair cut. Of course only one person gets paid. Exhchange of goods/services for capital. Its the way our economy works.

I'm not married as I see no point to it. I am, in fact only thinking of moving in with him. Marriage isn't my be all and end all. At this point, with our funds, it's a maybe. And, I know my man wouldn't. Given a choice between buying a prostitute with the money he has left over from bus fares, rent and food, and purchasing the latest Dr Who DVD would be like asking a fat person if they would rather have a celery stick or a piece of chocolate. I think, in this economy, that can be said for a lot of people.

I meant no offense to fat people if they are reading this. It was honestly my only example.

In fact, I have a theoretical question, Chipmunk.

Lets say that one day you wanted to experiment. You want to have a threesome but want it private so that strikes out swingers parties. You want it done properly so that rules out putting ads in the paper. You can't ask a friend because then everyone will know and you will never be able to look that person in the face again. And a stranger is ruled out because God knows what they are like really.

Legal Prostitution would be your only answer as you would know they are clean, know they are professional and know that they are discreet.
