The news horrified Yin. Unconsciously he cringed back into his seat, shoulders hunching slightly forward and his hands coming up to a more guarded position. This did not sound promising. Not in the least. In fact? They sounded flat out terrifying.

Alexander was even suggesting that he run. Alexander, a boil who had made it more than clear that he did not mind ghouls in the least.

Yin felt a horrible chill settling over him like a blanket of despair. Did Alexander truly hate him so much that he was taking him as some sort of perverse sacrifice to his family? He would have given him a look that said as much, but he was trying to look nonchalant...and failing miserably. Suddenly the sickness in his stomach felt like so much more than motion sickness.

Breathe. Focus on your fear. Calm down. Breathe. There is your heart beat, focus on it. Breathe. Breathe.

Absolutely nothing was okay about this.

Yep, this was definitely bad. Yin was cringing back in his seat and looking more sick then he had through the entire trip so far. Why couldn't Alex just keep his mouth shut about the twins? Surely they weren't actually that bad....It was probably just that he was still holding a grudge after they had cut his head off years and years before.

And then proceeded to terrorize him at any given chance afterwards.

He cringed inwardly, then scooted forward in his seat again so that he was closer to Yin and could speak to him quietly. "You know what, it'll probably be fine. Just because I don't get along with them doesn't mean you wont. As far as I know they've only ever been...less then nice..with me." That might be as far as Alex knew because he tried to stay as far out of their business as possible, though.

"Nothing bad is going to happen, my family really is a lot of fun, you just might need to take some time to get used to them, is all. I'm sorry if the things I'm telling you are upsetting, but I just don't want you to go in blind and be completely surprised by things" He reached out tentatively give Yin a pat on the shoulder, really not knowing what else he could do. He loved his family (except maybe the twins) and he wanted Yin to be able to enjoy them as much as Alex did.

But he was quickly realizing that it probably wasn't going to happen.

The train had stopped, passengers had gotten off, and it had started forward once again.

"If you want, at the next stop, we can get off the train and I can buy you a ticket back to the school?" that was one thing Alex could at least still give the other boil, and that was an out to the whole weekend. Yin could go back to the school alone, and Alex could continue on to his families place, also alone. It would be hard, because he'd really been excited about this, but it was harder to see Yin obviously in so much discomfort.

Back to the school. It sounded blissful, to not have to worry about whether or not he would have to run in terror from Alexander's sisters, or contemplate how long he would need to hide out in Alexander's room. But at the same time, it would mean running away. He wanted to run away. Great Mantis he wanted to run away.

But running away meant leaving Alexander after all he had done. And his mother had done. And a new ticket would cost even more money. And if he looked past all of the obvious horrors, he was actually really curious about going to Alexander's home. Families were such a bizarre concept, and he would be seeing where his best friend grew up. No, he could not possibly cancel after coming this far.

"I am fine, I just need a moment." He quirked one corner of his mouth up. "I am not too worried, truly. You will be staying with me and I shall try to behave myself." Breathe. Inhale. Exhale. After a few moments he had regained some of his composure, though his throat was tight as he tried to speak.

"I do appreciate the warning Alexander. I cannot simply avoid ghouls forever, and I am sure that everything will be alright." He took a sip of the water bottle. "Perhaps you should tell me about your third sister?"

On the one hand, it was good that Yin was still determined to go to Alex's house for the weekend. On the other hand, over-thinking all the possible things that could go wrong now, at the last second, was turning Alex into a nervous wreck. Why hadn't he thought about all of this before? He should never have invited Yin along! This was quite possibly the stupidest thing he'd ever done.

Not at all convinced that Yin was 'fine', not even for a second, Alex very slowly removed his hand from Yin's shoulder, again, but this time didn't sit back in his seat and stayed sitting knee to knee with the other boil.

"My other sister? I don't think you'll even need to worry about her. Isabella doesn't talk much, keeps to herself most of the time. She's just turned 11, and is the smallest of my siblings...she hasn't really chosen to grow much bigger then your average say...8 year old? She looks more like me, and my mom, my brother looks the most like my dad, the twins are somewhere in-between." He shrugged. He really didn't know what else to say about his youngest sister. She was really just very shy, quiet, and unassuming, which was a nice change of pace compared to the rest of the family. She was probably the least threatening member of Alex's family, Alex included.

"We still have half the trip to go, is there anything else you'd like to know?"

Yin had not really noticed how comforting the cool hand on his shoulder had been until it was gone. Some weird part of him wanted it back, so there was a small chance that he was getting a fever. He edged his leg forward ever so slightly until he could feel a faint pressure and cooling sensation on his knee. That would suffice.

At least Miss Isabella sounded alright. Quiet ghouls could be a problem, but if she kept to herself it probably balanced out. Plus she was younger, and might not know enough to be a true terror. But quite honestly? He was making himself sick by thinking about the zomboil's family.

But they still had an hour and a half together, and though he did not wish to just gather information about Alexander's family he certainly did not want to spend it in silence. "What do you have to say about that..." he tried to look like he was thinking fairly hard on the matter "Alexander fellow. What can you tell me about him?" Okay, so it was stupid. It sounded stupid. His head still hurt and he could not think. But really, so long as it got the attention off of the strangers of Alexander's family and did not put it back on Yin it was bound to be good...right?

Alex couldn't help but notice a faint yet warm pressure on the inside of his leg, one that made his stomach feel very..odd. He glanced down for a split second, then back up at Yin.

Really, do not read to much into this. He's your friend. Just your friend.

This was almost painful, and Alex had to fight to keep himself from just, moving his leg away.

At least Yin was trying to keep the conversation flowing, which was good because Alex didn't really know what else to talk about at this point, and his brain was turning slightly to mush at the moment. He was going to grasp at whatever Yin had to ask him with extreme interest, so as to try and ignore the stupid...feelings, going on right now.

He was actually confused for a moment. Alexander? Wha----ohhhhh.

Ya, his brain was totally not keeping up at this point at all.

Regardless, he grinned broadly, "Ah, Alexander is a different character all together. You probably don't have too much to worry about around him, though" except when he's trying to rip your chest out and bite a large amount of flesh out of your shoulder. "He's generally pretty happy, amiable, very easy to please. Might be a bit stubborn about things from time to time but I think he may have met his match when it comes to that." He gave Yin a look that said 'I think you know who I'm talking about.' "Uh, yes, so, he's also quite lazy, useless in most things except schoolwork, and doesn't take very good care of himself..."

His face became quite serious now "But he does have the best friend he could have ever asked for. One that's always forgiving him even when he doesn't deserve it, and..." he had to swallow past a small lump in his throat, his voice maybe slightly hoarser then it was before "putting up with a lot from him."

Ok, time to lighten the mood, this was getting too sappy, so he smiled again, and tried to sound more cheerful."This friend of his is even willing to put up with Alexander's somewhat dysfunctional and overly large family just to hang out with him for a weekend. Alexander must be a really great guy after all, for his friend to be that desperate to spend time with him." He really hoped Yin caught the joke in that and didn't think Alex was just being cocky or something.

Yin could not help but smile a little at the look Alexander gave him. Stubborn? Who could he possibly be talking about. But that smile all but disappeared as the zomboil started describing himself as useless at most things (the lazy and not taking good care of himself were pretty well true and were skimmed over).

Then Alexander started talking about his best friend. Yin wondered if he had met this friend...perhaps it was Mort, or someone back home that Yin would meet. They sounded like a pretty great friend, and Yin could not help but feel slightly jealous. And perhaps even slightly possessive. Alexander was his best friend after all.

Then Alexander started talking about his best friend and how he was going home with him and with mixed embarrassment and pleasure Yin finally connected the dots. He was referring to him. His face did not flush red, though he did regain a bit of his natural pallor. He was not letting that last remark slide however.

"Perhaps," he said carefully, but his tone perfectly serious, "he did not believe that his friend could make it home by himself, if he is truly so lazy. Or he was unsure that his friend would return if he left on his own." But even though he kept his tone even and serious he could not help the smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
PostPosted: Fri Feb 03, 2012 2:07 pm

Alex by this point was just smiling like a complete idiot, and had to laugh at Yin's retort, even if the other boil was trying to remain serious when he said it. "Well, you're probably right. Who's to say if Alexander would ever even get off of the train if he didn't have his friend to carry him." Let Yin take that however he wanted, but Alex was still completely joking.

Maybe.

"I don't think you'd have to worry too much about whether he would come back or not. Unless something really bad were to happen to him, I'm pretty sure he'd somehow manage to return....eventually." In all seriousness though, it really wasn't safe for students to be travelling on their own anymore, and Alex was glad that Yin had decided to continue on the trip with him instead of separating at the next stop.

Speaking of stops, the train was beginning to slow down again, and Alex had another glance out through the window. "Won't be much longer, now." He said, happily, as he watched more and more people exiting the train.

Yin appeared to be feeling much better, so Alex finally moved back in his chair, leaning his head back and practically sinking into the seat. "So, how are things going with your classes, anyways? We never seem to talk about this stuff. I had to do first aid with Michi...it uh..could have gone better." He admitted, but it also could have been worse.

Well, carrying Alexander around was not the worst thing that Yin could spend his weekend doing. And it was much easier for him to keep an eye on the zomboil and ensure that he did not get into trouble if he accompanied him.

By now the slowing and lurching back to life of the train was beginning to grow more familiar, and he actually risked a glance outside as they started up again. It was still disconcerting, but he did not immediately wish to throw up, so it was a marked improvement.

"Classes? I..." did he really even want to talk about that class? He wondered as he straightened up, rolling his shoulders a bit and stretching. "I do not suggest the contract class. It may be slightly...disturbing." Finding yourself in a frilly, colorful costume complete with a miniskirt was more than simply disturbing, but he did not want to go into those details. "I did go back to first aid, and I worked with Miss Xiu-Ying. I was quite pleased that I ran into her, as it gave me a chance to ask her to take care of Princess Eva during our trip." He definitely owed her for that. He would have to make up to her when they go back. "I do not mind first aid, Nurse Cricket is quite experienced and has been a pleasant instructor."
PostPosted: Fri Feb 03, 2012 2:46 pm

Contract class? That must have been a new one that Alex hadn't heard about yet. If it was anything like the other classes he'd heard about, though, it probably wasn't really his thing. Though contracts just sounded like some kind of legal document class. How could that be disturbing?

"That was nice of her." Alex responded to the information Yin gave of Xui watching Princess Eva for him. "My pets don't really need looking after, which is probably why I have them and not something like Princess Eva, I just don't think I'd have the energy for it. I just left them some food and they'll be fine until we get back."

Nurse Cricket had been a pleasant instructor? Really? Alex hadn't been overly fond of her the three times he'd taken the class. Maybe she had just been in a bad mood the days he'd gone.

"I did some silly trashology class with Mort a while back. Almost got myself tossed in with the schools garbage because Mort couldn't get the robot to let go of me." The train was well on it's way now, and the next stop would be the one they were to get off at. Now that conversation seemed to be going a lot smoother and Yin was feeling better, Alex craned his neck around to look for the food trolley. He hadn't had anything to eat yet and his body felt like it was starving, which could potentially be a very dangerous thing, sitting across from a warm blooded creature.

Spying it coming down the aisle, he lifted his hand to indicate that he would buy something and waited for it to approach. "Are you feeling better now? Do you want anything?" he asked the weremantis before the trolley could make it's way over.

Never gonna give up on trying to buy Yin food, it seemed.

"Trashology? Yes, I took that class as well with Miss Danny. Thankfully I was able to free her before anything bad could happen. I also took a class with the black dog boil we briefly met in the fog...I do not think you would enjoy that class however, it involved lightning and running uphill..." He was fast, and the lightning had dissipated him twice. "It would not be a good risk for you to take," he added after thinking about it for a minute.

Alexander was asking him about food again. He had not had a chance to eat or meditate today, his stomach wanted food. But the only money that he possessed was the few seeds of change from purchasing the brush for Princess Eva, not even silver ones, and there was no telling what the weekend had in store. No, he had best save his money for another day. "I shall be fine," he said easily, though I do feel better. Thank you for your concern. Really Alexander, did you think that Yin was going to accept an offer of anything that would put him even more in your debt?
PostPosted: Fri Feb 03, 2012 3:37 pm

Yaaaa, lightening and running uphill really didn't sound like something Alex would be interested in for two reasons, both of which were pretty obvious. "I've heard of that class...it sounded too dangerous and uh..ya, there's pretty much no way I could run up a hill." He mumbled the last part, somewhat ashamed that he had to skip out on so many classes just because they were too physical for him to manage. "Did you pass it at least? You didn't...dissipate, did you?" He knew that Yin had dissipated twice already, at the same times that he had himself, and he also knew that dissipating too many times could have hazardous consequences.

The trolley was stopping next to them now, "Do you have any raw meat flavored snacks?" Alex asked politely, waiting for the response before digging in his pocket for more seeds with which to purchase it. He just needed something to tide him over until he got home and his mom could start feeding him real food again. The trolley pushing ghoul handed him the bag, and he opened it up to start munching on the contents happily.

It wasn't nearly as good as real meat, but it would suffice.

Yin waited for Alexander to obtain his food, somewhat reluctant to answer. "I did pass," he finally said, wanting to get that bit out there so that maybe Alexander would not judge what he was about to say quite as harshly. "But I was dissipated twice before I could succeed." He looked away not really enjoying the reminder. Not so much of the dissipations, but of yet another of his failures.

He took another sip of his water, noticing that the bottle was only about halfway empty. Perhaps Alexander would want some with this snack, though the boil did not seem to drink very much.

He was about to offer when someone walked by, jostling his elbow as they passed and in horrified slow motion he watched the bottle fly out of his hand, spiraling in midair and flinging its contents about. He was splattered with a good bit of it himself, but part of it ended up dousing Alexander as well. He quickly leaned forward, trying to brush beads of the liquid off of Alexander's pants and shirt before they had a chance to soak in. 'Oh Great Mantis," he all but hissed. "I am terribly sorry Alexander," he said, a tiny bit of helplessness bleeding into his tone as his efforts were mostly in vain.
PostPosted: Fri Feb 03, 2012 4:35 pm

Alex was happy to hear that Yin had passed his class, but nearly dropped his bag of snacks when he heard that he'd also dissipated twice in the attempt. His mouth gaped open a bit. "Why would they even have classes like that??" He finally managed, completely aghast, and then "Don't tell my mom anything about that class. Ever." She'd probably try and haul Yin out of the school as well if she could manage it.

Alex saw it as it was happening, the stranger walking by and hitting Yin on the elbow, the cursed bottle of water spinning out of his hand and in Alex's direction, flinging water at him that ended up on his shirt, and his pants, starting to soak through the fabric to his skin. He somehow managed to snag the water bottle out of the air, because he always seemed to have much faster reflexes in his arms then in his legs, for whatever reason. Unfortunately, however, it was upside down when his grip crushed it, and the last bit of water that was left in the bottle began to run down his hand, his arm, and spill onto his seat.

Before he could even do anything about it, Yin was suddenly right there, touching him wherever he was wet with his hands and attempting to brush off the droplets of water where they were sitting on top of the fabric. Not that it did much good, anyways, since most of it was already soaked in.

So now he was a partially wet zombie, with his friend practically in his lap. He vaguely realized that he'd dropped his snacks on the floor in all of the activity, but it was hard to even think about that at the moment with what was going on.

"It--it's fine..." He tried to smile reassurinly, but he couldn't, because he was mostly just too horrified by what was happening and by how much is brain was telling him to just enjoy the physical contact while he could get it. He didn't want this. This was his friend, nothing more then that, and he didn't want this. But his brain just kept telling him differently and it was becoming very frustrating.

He finally just closed his eyes tight, putting the water bottle down by his side and reaching up a hand to rub at his forehead with a grimace. He then said very quietly "Could you please just stop? It's fine, really, you don't have to do that." he wasn't trying to sound angry, but he was just tired of dealing with the thoughts running through his head constantly and second guessing everything all of the time. "We should be there soon, and I'll dry off faster once we're outside."

With one last lingering brush over Alexander's thigh Yin ceased his futile efforts. Yin had never kicked a puppy, but if he had he would have known the sort of vibe he was giving off as he slunk back to his seat. He could not have believed that he had just spilled water all over his friend (or that Alexander had managed to snatch the bottle out of midair for that matter). Then to make matters worse he was next to useless about actually drying Alexander off and had possibly upset him.

They were edging far too close to an uncomfortable silence though, so Yin once again found himself searching for something to say as he stared down at his hands. His incredibly useless non-water absorbing hands. "We get off at the next stop, is that correct?" At least the zomboil would get a chance to dry off soon.
