((******** editting all those posts, I'm just gonna write up a wrap-up post for this..))
Why did she do this to herself? She was so devoured in this idea that she needed to do all of these trials. Then again, she didn't get access to the nice perks if she didn't. Which was unfortunate. Still, it couldn't have been healthy, sitting there forever trying to make the game end the way she wanted it to while everything around her went about trying to undermine that goal.
That singular.
Beautiful.
Goal.
She'd done it once, but still. Still she was going to do it again. Prove that she could do it again. Prove she was stubborn enough to do it again. Maybe not the best trait to have, stubbornness, and yet it suited her well to do the repeated task. It was almost like insanity, doing it over and over and over again, trying to yield some new result. And yet every time, she managed to fail. Sometimes it was because she was too wound up to be patient.
Other times she waited too long to move and that ended up being her folly. It was frustrating. Very frustrating. Still, she kept waking, resetting the game and trying again. It was a consuming obsession when she got into these ruts. By the millionth hour, she was sure Marcus was wondering where she had gone to by then.
She'd return to him eventually. But first, she needed to do this.
She needed to stop failing.
Concentrate. Concentrate.
It seemed to take far too long until she was able to pull out that last piece, those last...five...points... carefully reaching out..setting it on top...and wincing. Don't fall, don't fall, don't fall...
..
...
The tower remained standing. She nearly yelped in surprise. Instead, she bumped the table and it all went toppling over. But even then, she didn't care. She had done it. She had done it.
Cass would wake with a marker to do whatever she pleased with. Oh joy.
