Eva let out a sharp gasp, successfully winded by the attack. Stumbling backwards, she only managed to catch herself by digging Chara's blade into the ground. Using her as support, the trainee took a moment to regain her breath before shooting a grin up at Deryk.
"Well, just...if we ever run into a battle with those things again," Which they most certainly would, "Just gimme a call when you're about to use that attack again, okay? I'll stop to watch and cheer, even if I'm caught up in my own fight."
Her Fear shield was flickering now, and she knew that she would probably only last one more hit, so she did what she could, swinging up her weapon and slashing out at Deryk's shoulder.

Letting out a cry as the blade hit his shoulder pretty squarely once more, Deryk grimaced and staggered back. That smarted pretty good.
"Hehe. Will do," he grinned before trying to get in another strike. However, that last attack of Eva's did pretty well to slow him down. He wasn't able to move as fluidly as earlier.

"Ouch."
Eva.
"I know, Chara." She answered her weapon aloud, grinning weakly as she felt the FEAR shield around her seemingly flicker. It wouldn't last much longer--one more blow at most, probably--but she would fight to the end, even if the outcome was already quite clear.
Flipping her staff around, she struck out with the blunt side, aiming again for Deryk's shoulder.

The staff hit him in the shoulder again. While it wasn't as hard, it was still slowing him down. Wincing, Deryk tried to get in for one last attack, just barely grazing the girl. Mentally, Tooley was tsk tsking him for his sloppiness right now. She wasn't doing too much in terms of advice at the moment, however.

Somehow, her shield was still hanging on, but only by a single thread. All the attacks before this had hurt, but at worst, she probably only got a couple of bruises. It would be a completely different story if Deryk's next strike was a strong one, though.
However, the idea of backing out never occurred to her. Instead, she took a few steps back, and then swept her staff out sideways, trying to knock her opponent off his feet.

Deryk's shoulder was killing him right now. There was one problem of having a close combat weapon attached to just one arm. If his left arm was taken out, he was kind of screwed. With a wince, he started to move forth, only to get tripped up by Eva.
"AAAH!" he cried out before making a wild swipe at her, trying to get in one last hit before he landed on his back with a thud.

The hit, though just a graze, managed to slice through the single thread that had been keeping Eva's FEAR shield up. Wincing as the blade nicked her slightly, the girl stumbled backwards, landing on her back just as Deryk had.
"O-ouch. Haha, your win, Deryk!" Lose or win, it seemed as if the girl always finished off the battle with a good natured grin. After all, if she lost, it just meant that she had to work harder, right?
After a moment of laying on the ground, she pushed herself up with her elbows, turning to pull the man up into a sitting position. "Thanks for sparring with me! We should do it again when I'm, er..." She gestured to her leg. When she was in better condition.
