There was vague trepidation in its voice, but there was also a little, shameful side order of possible excitement there.

Riley heard the excitement. She'd expected it. And it made her want to smile. She reached up and brushed the backs of her fingers against the sides of Malodore's mask, before bending them enough to toy with the edge of it.
Actually, although I would prefer a remote method, I was suggesting some possible surgery. Was she enjoying how excited Malodore would be at the prospect? Most definitely. We can wait until we have a little more information on how this is affecting Jericho or myself. Perhaps some time to see if it gets worse, or goes away. And most importantly, to figure out which one of us it stems from, if it truly is only one of us. But then.. She brushed a finger down the length of it's beak, along the crevice where the two parts met. Maybe I let you cut me open a little.
They had strange courtings.

"Only if it is absolutely necessary," Malodore told her (and itself, sigh). "I do not wish to cause you harm or trauma unless it is to prevent something worse. Still, if anyone is to perform surgery..." It reached up and lightly took her hand in its own, intertwining her fingers with its claws. "It should be me. If Infermiera Cricket does not beat me to it, of course."

Good. Then we are in agreement. She flickered her gaze to the hand and claw intertwined, and let out a fond sigh. But if you don't mind.. I would like to stay with you. For a little while. Her hand squeezed softly, and her eyes closed. You seem to have me captivated. Being with you allows me to forget my problems, if only temporarily.
When her eyes opened, they rested on the mask before her. May I be a bit selfish with your time, for a bit? I promise I will return you to le scienze soon enough.
