The words coming from Nicholas seemed to snap Trevor's focus on Rey. This was mostly fortunate. Fighting with the other boy would have placated him almost instantly. Instead, will power would have to suffice. Detention on the first day would be less than desirable anyway. It would certainly put a kink in the plans he had laid for after school. The strength of thought had returned to the werewolf.
His heartbeat was no longing pounding in his ears and it ceased to beat with the same heavy force that signaled trouble. With effort, he forced his hands to relax. The tension built up within painstakingly followed. This past summer had helped tremendously with this process. It was far from easy but it was manageable. When he had reached level, as close to level given the time frame, Trevor inhaled deeply and let out a slow, quiet sigh.
Casting his eyes down, he mulled over Nicholas's statement. Recalling the tone and inflection, Trevor sensed the condescension. He didn't appreciate it. Luckily he hadn't caught it at the time it was delivered. It was too late to address it now. He waited on the others for some valid input.

"Already? It's only the first day of school, you shouldn't be sick of the place yet. You've got the whole world at your fingertips. And it's our last year, it's supposed to be the best," he grinned.
"But...let's put it down anyway," he smiled charmingly at Michiyo and looked to Austin, "Hey, can you put that down as the first rule?"
When she asked what he thought the rules should be, he thought for a moment before answering, "I think that there should be no homework on days where there's a track meet."
Rey shifted his gaze to Nicholas and smirked at his attempt to diffuse the situation. He hadn't expected to hear anything quite so intelligent come from the boy's mouth, and was surprised by his comments. Despite his sleepy exterior, it seemed there might be a little spunk deep down somewhere.
"Care to give a suggestion for a rule, then?" he stared at the young man.

Eunice was relieved when the boy with the coffee disrupted the two dogs. She finally lifted her head up and glanced around the table. She tried to shoot a small smile at Nicholas, but doubted he caught it. She turned back to her paper and took it upon herself to start writing the first rule.
No group projects. Ever.
She smiled to herself and started to sketch on the margins.

Lavi just smiled as Aella pretended to break off their friendship over a joke, knowing her far too well to believe it. Her own rule had the exact opposite effect on him than it intended, a frown tugging on his lips. "Well, I don't know if I like that one very much either. I'm not much of a morning person so you'll definitely won't be seeing me with a big smile first thing in the morning."
As Roan spoke up with a rule of her own, Lavi watched her with knotted eyebrows. It was clear she counted herself among those who 'don't like to be bothered' and he wasn't entirely sure how to respond. "Right..." he simply muttered after a few seconds of silence and awkwardly scratched the back of his neck with the end of his pen. "I don't think many people would keep to that rule... I mean, not that they intentionally mean to bother someone..." He trailed off, staring at the single, jokey rule written on his notebook and glanced up at Aella without raising his head, figuring she'd be one of the people who could possibly fall into that category with her enthusiasm. "Um, well, then there's also the obvious ones like... don't nick other people's things..." He went on quickly, writing that down.
Juliet raised one perfectly plucked, blonde eyebrow at Kyle's cheesy line and made a mental note to add another fact next to his name in her notebook. "Calm down, Romeo. I was just looking to talk. You seem rather friendly, unlike some people." Her gaze flitted to Murielle for a second, a small crease appearing between her eyebrows as she frowned at the girl. She was honestly used to people being wary of her, afraid she'd meddle with their relationships, but hardly ever had anyone been quite so unkind from the get-go.
"So, what are you reading?" She leaned a little closer to peer at the cover of his book, brushing the stubborn yellow locks behind her ear with little success, most of it flowing back down in front of her face, obscuring her left eye, the moment her fingers were no longer there to hold them in place. "I'd hoped for a more exciting first day back than a trip to the library, really."

Nicholas continued to keep his eyes on his coffee as he patiently waited for the boys' reaction, using his free hand to lazily pick some lint off his sweater. The release in tension was palpable in the air, as the most high strung of the two seemed to relax into his seat. Even the girl, he noticed with a glance, had a small smile on her face as she scribbled away.
It took a moment for him to realize that the cocky one next to him had directed a question at him, raising his gaze up from his thermos to meet his. He stayed silent, lips pursed against the rim of the container, as he searched for a good answer. Before long he lowered the thermos, answering lazily with a cocked eyebrow, “Well, considering the apparently increased likelihood of someone getting a fist to the face in this particular class, how about... Keeping our hands off each other while inside the classroom?”

Kiah rested the arm not clutching her book on the bookshelf, shifting from foot to foot in her seemingly permanent restlessness while still getting comfortable. She’d known the kitsune lived with just her cat, Jack, but she was still upset that Mizaka was relatively alone at her apartment when she actually had time to be there. “So it seems like Jack is still as gluttonous as ever...” she giggled, happy that the cat was still guarding the home-front. Kiah took a liking to almost any animal, even if not all appreciated her canine roots. Plus it was fun to watch them all attack her brother, since they especially didn’t like the twin who lead their masters astray.
Hearing her brother trying to woo Juliet barely bothered her after so many failed attempts, but the fact that he still used those stupid lines was enough to make her softly bang her head on the bookshelf. She stopped causing herself brain damage when he was shot down yet again, listening to Juliet talk about Murielle, turning her head to the sullen girl. “I wonder what’s up with her... She doesn’t seem to want to talk to anyone... even her own cousin..,” Kiah whispered, hoping that she wasn’t being loud enough to hear.
“You’re not here for my autograph?” Kyle sent her another charming smile before he realized she had no interest. He shrugged and subtly scootched his chair closer to hers, taking his hand away to let his hair fall over his face again. “Of course I am. I’m probably one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet,” he cockily stated, leaning back on his chair a bit. He took the time to follow her glance to the dark-haired girl sitting by herself, furrowing his eyebrows at her behavior.
Slowly holding the book further away so she’d have to lean closer, Kyle revealed the cover with flourish, acting like he held the only copy in the world and was showing it off. “This is ‘The Lightning Thief’. I don’t know if you’ve heard about it or not, but it’s the best book out there.” He was about to help Juliet with her little problem by brushing her hair back himself, but when she started talking about how boring the first day was, he couldn’t help but complain. “I know what you mean... I wanted to see what our new teacher could possibly have planned for the first day back. Why do the Seniors get to have class first, anyway,” he grumped, thinking about how hot Miss Liv was.

Austin looked up in surprise when Ricky addressed him, having been so engrossed with the conversation at the other table that he wasn't paying attention to what his teammates were saying. The two boys who had previously been sending out aggressive signals at each other seemed to have finally calmed down a bit. Sighing, the Tailypo scratched his head before looking back at Ricky.
“Sorry...got a little distracted...” He wrote down Michiyo's rule right above his tail-pulling rule. Although he didn't voice it, Austin agreed with the girl. Since he had no father, Austin's mother had to work all day and usually didn't come home until late in the evening. During that timespan, he and his younger sister, Sayen, were left unattended, with Austin serving the role of parent until their mother came back. There are times when Sayen would get terrible fevers and, due to their mother's busy schedule, Austin would often have no choice but to skip school in order to take care of his sick sister.
Austin tapped his pencil as he listened to his teammates talk. When Ricky suggested that there should be no homework on track meeting days, the Tailypo nodded and scribbled it down.
“That sounds fair. Don't want people overworking and stressing themselves out afterwards...”
Aella nodded sadly at Lavi's statement.
“Yeah, you're right. That's a silly rule. I shouldn't expect people to have the same energy that I have, especially in the mornings.” She huffed a bit and crossed her arms, a little embarrassed for bringing it up in the first place. “Oh!” she said, answering Roan's suggestion. “That's a rule Murielle would love! She's not exactly...a people person...” A look of sadness briefly washed over the Pegasus' face before she shook her head and continued on smiling. Lavi's implication that Aella would unintentionally bother people went completely over her head.
“I agree with that rule, too! I'd hate it if someone tried to steal my camera!”
Mizaka let out a groan.
“He eats everything,” she complained, before turning her attention back to Kyle and Juliet. She couldn't help but let out a snort when she saw that the girl wasn't interested in Kyle in the way he had hoped she was. “Not even in a million years, buddy...”
Mizaka turned to look at where Kiah's gaze had wandered off to.
“Oh, that Kelpie girl? Yeah, something's definitely up with her. From my experience, if a person wants to be left alone, you'd better leave them alone. I don't know what her story is and I'm guessing that she isn't the type who likes sharing her history with others. Maybe we can ask Aella later. Come to think of it...I never even knew that Aella had a cousin until today...” Aella usually loved to talk about her family and showed off pictures of them whenever she had the chance. To think that she had a cousin that she had never mentioned before seemed very unlike her.
Murielle could feel her eyelids getting heavier. Yet another full night without sleep and it had left her feeling exhausted. Realizing that she couldn't continue on reading in her current state, Murielle bookmarked the current page in her book and closed it shut. She got up from her seat and began to wander around the library, looking at random shelves to keep her thoughts busy. She deliberately avoided going in the direction where her other classmates were, afraid that one of them might try to start a conversation with her. She already had enough of that with the girl in pink clothing.
“Pointless,” she muttered to herself as she looked at random titles. “Completely pointless.”

”Oh, it's not just today. I've been bored for years.” Despite her best efforts, Michiyo found herself grinning back. It was obvious how the boy had gotten this popular. “Last year or no, I'm not holding my breath for anything different this year.”
A slow smirk appeared as Ricky announced his own rule, joined by a raised eyebrow as Austin started nodding along and writing it down, “That might sound fair,” she commented, “But we can't have that apply only to track meet days. There are a ton of other sports clubs with competitions, so those days would have to be excused as well.” With a slight shrug she leaned back in her chair, “Then there's all the other clubs that'll want more free time.” Brow furrowed, she gestured towards Austin, “What was it you did, tea parties? I bet you want more time to spend on that as well.”
Roan felt the shift in mood at her suggestion, and for a moment she felt guitly for making things awkward. It hadn't been her intention. She just knew that there were probably a few people in their class that appreciate being left alone. With someone beaming with bubbly energy like Aella in the class, Roan figured it might be hard for those people to keep to themselves. And though she recognized her own distancing tendencies, for some reason it still stung when Aella put her together with her cousin. She had paid attention during the introductions, and the girl had seemed quite a bit more... extreme in her ways than Roan thought she was herself. It made her freeze her doodle motions on the page. Was that really how people saw her? Her mother would be proud, but the realization just brought a hollow feeling to her stomach. How could she ever captain a team with that kind of image?
She was jilted out of her thoughts by Lavi's quickly thought-up rule. “Yes,” she agreed, nodding along, her abandoned thoughts spurring her into more participation, “No stealing... Also, perhaps another obvious one, no fighting... or bullying?”

"Sounds to me like you should have considered dual enrollment at the University," Ricky replied, "But don't you like that you can take it easy and not worry about your grades? You have much more free time to hang out...," he gave her a mischievous look before his grin faded into a more thoughtful expression.
"Well by the time we let everyone have off for their sports and clubs, every day will be without homework..," he twitched his ear and ruffled his hair a little exasperated when he realized the problem with his rule.
"Oh come now...let's not go that far. You can ban fighting, but don't take away my ability to touch other people..." he tilted his head with a coyness to his quirked smile, his eyes catching a sparkle in them. He had all but forgotten about trying to irritate Trevor, his attention now focused on Nicholas.
Liv decided it had been about enough time for the younger students to be left alone, so she got up from her desk and twirled over to the door, "Alright class, I'll be going to check on the study hall group now. Don't miss me too much~" she gave them all a wink as she slipped out the door, prancing for the Library.
When she arrived, she bounced in and looked around to see what everyone was up to. She didn't mind them socializing, as long as they weren't completely goofing off. She was glad they all at least had tried to find themselves a book for their reports.
"Hello everyone~ How are we doing?" she batted her eyelashes with a pleasant smile on her pink lips.

As the conversation continued, Eunice listened while focusing on her paper. She was perfectly content until she caught the tone in Rey's voice. She lifted her gaze to look at him, her cheeks flushing at the insinuation he had made about touching people. Despite her complete lack of experience in that area, she still knew exactly what he meant and it was embarrassing. Judging from Rey's apparent interest in the other boy though, she was banking on not having to worry about him going after her. With a small, quiet sigh she closed her eyes to steady herself, willing the blush from her face. When she opened her eyes she glanced in Trevor's direction to see if he had anything to say about Rey's sleazy demeanor.
When Miss Liv declared to the class that she was leaving to check on the others, the pace of her heart quickened a little with a wave of anxiety. She really hoped that the lack of supervision wouldn't cause the other students to start wreaking havoc.

As he expected, Rey's suggestion was negligible. The young werewolf rolled his eyes at this. Although, with some thought, he was thankful that this was his reaction to it. A much more subtle gesture compared to those that raced through his mind only minutes ago. He was getting out of hand. It was unfortunate that this was to be anticipated. He only hoped that when he eventually snapped on Miss Liv, she would be forgiving. Assuming she was unharmed.
The up side of the approaching moon phase was all his feelings were amplified. On the precipice of these shifts, he could be brought to the lowest of lows or break the upper limits of his highs. It was a double edged sword. The only problem being that the magnitude of the dangerous side was heavier than that of its opposite.
Trevor's eyes fell back to level and he noticed Eunice's response, her cheeks clearly flushed. With her meek demeanor, that reaction wasn't much of a surprise. He felt for the girl. Seeing her cast aside the emotion, Trevor locked eyes with hers. The kindness he conveyed was unmatched.
Rey's lewd suggestion was good for something. This sparked an idea in his mind. He smirked lightly with one side of his mouth at Eunice before giving his input.
"How about we do our best not to push others too far out of their comfort zone."
When Trevor finished his statement, Miss Liv exited the room to tend to the students in the library. In truth, he looked forward to what might happen in her absence. He raised an eyebrow and his lips parted a fraction of an inch. He turned his head to scan the reactions of the other students around the room.

Juliet returned his smile sweetly, but on the inside she was rolling her eyes. Kyle's flirtatious behavior was a little too much and not at all suave that she wasn't sure if she'd be able to work with him. He was nice enough to talk to, though, and she'd rather put up with his lame come-ons than with the surliness she'd been met with earlier. "No, I have not. Maybe I should try reading that, then." She regarded her own book for a second before taking his from his hands without asking. "Does it have romance in it?" She asked eagerly, flipping through the pages. Her brows furrowed slightly as she noticed mostly action-type scenes. "Every good book should have romance..."
"Class isn't all that exciting either, anyway..." She shrugged lightly, still flipping through the pages of Kyle's book, but not paying attention to what was written anymore. "I suppose, however boring libraries are, they do give us the opportunity to socialize a little. Get to know eachother."
When Miss Liv entered the library she looked up from the copy of The Lightning Thief with a start, pushing the book back in Kyle's hands and then grabbing her own and opening it at random as if she'd been reading. When she noticed Miss Liv didn't seem to scold any of them for talking instead of reading, she relaxed and dumped the book back on the table.
Lavi nodded eagerly at Roan as she came up with two more rules. "Yeah, good ones, good ones." He quickly wrote them down, then held the notebook out slightly in front of him, brows furrowing at the large amount of white space still left. "How many do we need to come up with, anyway...?" When Miss Liv announced she'd be leaving to check on the study hall group, he watched her twirl towards the door with a raised eyebrow, thinking about how she'd probably be another supporter of the 'always come to class with a smile' rule of Aella's. His eyes then travelled towards the other groups huddled together, leaning slightly towards the closest to try and read their notepads, two of his chair legs slowly lifting off the ground.
"Hmm..." He mused, snapping the chair back on all four legs with a loud clank when his trying to read other people's rules failed. He looked their rules over again, just three serious ones and one random rule. "Well... I don't know, really. You guys have any more ideas?" He glanced at his two group members, eyebrows raised.

Kyle simply raised an amused eyebrow at Juliet when she swiped the book from his fingers, believing that her interest in his book equaled an interest in him. His skewed logic had gotten him in enough violent situations, but he never did seem to learn. Resting his cheek in the palm of his hand with his elbow on the table for support, he watched her face fall a bit after looking through the book for her romance. “Well, yeah... Not as much as you’d find in a romance novel or something, but there’s obviously a spark between two of the main characters,” he nodded.
“I do like getting to know girls as cute as you~,” Kyle agreed, wiggling his eyebrows slightly. “Though it’s also a time for sneaking out and doing something more worthwhile with your time, if you know what I mean.~”
Kyle stared as Miss Liv came through the doorway, barely noticing when the blonde girl beside him shoved his book back into his hands. He seemed to forget about Juliet’s presence entirely once the teacher came in, waving cooly at her. “We’re doing great!” he exclaimed, answering for all of them.
Kiah ignored her brother’s existence when he started to spout nonsense about his middle-school level reading material in order to impress the blonde-haired girl, sure that she could see right through his stupid act. She tried not to act too interested when Murielle suddenly made her way behind a bookshelf near the back, tilting her head and wondering what her problem was. “Hmmmm... Maybe it’s best if we don’t meddle in her personal affairs if, even Aella never said anything... The only thing I’d be comfortable asking is why she never told any of us about her,” she stated quietly, turning back to Mizaka. Kiah was friendly enough to the hyperactive Pegasus, but she did tend to get on her nerves every once in awhile when she continued to ramble on about the smallest things.
When Miss Liv pranced into the room practically radiating with sweetness, Kiah had to resist the urge to look disgusted, not wanting to give the woman a bad impression. If the teacher actually managed to stay and not cause some type of scandal, she didn’t want her to have any ill feelings towards the White Cadejo. She nodded along with her brother’s answer, attempting a small smile in response. She clutched her book to her chest and glanced at Mizaka, rolling her eyes slightly to show her opinion on the woman.

Austin couldn't help but roll his eyes a bit when Michiyo addressed him. Looking up from the notepad, he faced her with a smile on his face, accompanied by a slightly raised eyebrow. “No, I run the Tea Club. My younger sister does tea parties.” Looking back down at the notepad in his hands, he, too, began to see the problem with this rule and twirled the pencil a bit in his hand in thought. When Miss Liv announced that she was going to check in on the other students, Austin turned his head to watch her leave, then turned back around with a slight smirk on his lips. “In all honesty, she doesn't seem like the type who takes homework seriously...”
His long ears twitched again in the direction of the other group, catching tidbits of their conversation. When he overheard one of the boys mentioning something about “touching” people, Austin couldn't help but flinch a little, immediately recognizing the lewd implication it held. Oh boy... Sighing, he focused his gaze back on his notepad and tuned out any noise outside of his own group.
“Oh, yes! I agree!” Aella nodded eagerly at Roan's suggestions. “We could definitely do without those!” She frowned a bit when Lavi asked how many rules were needed to be written. “I don't really know...guess we just have to come up with as many as we can...” she concluded with a shrug. When she saw her redheaded friend had leaned back in his chair and tried to read the other students' notepads, she couldn't surpass a giggle. “Trying to cheat, are we? Bad Lavi!” She giggled some more, but raised her own eyebrows at the thought of more rules. “Hmm...well, I can honestly say, I got nothing.” Aella raised her arms in defeat. “I think what we have so far is pretty good.”
Mizaka sighed a little. “Yeah, it's best we don't get into Aella's business about it. Personal matters are not something we should go sticking our noses in...” She looked up at the bookshelf next to them, her eyes scanning the spines. “Wonder what book I should read...” Mizaka lifted a hand and began tracing her fingers across the diverse titles until they settled upon a rather impressive thick spine. “This one, maybe?” She took out the large book with both of her hands and held it up in front of her: War and Peace.
When Miss Liv walked in, Mizaka couldn't help but a smile a bit. It wasn't everyday one had the opportunity to be taught by someone as bold as their current teacher. Looking at Kiah's direction, Mizaka immediately saw the look on the other girl's face and shrugged in response. Personally, the young Kitsune was looking forward to their classes, even if it was just to see what would happen when someone like Miss Liv was given a teaching position.
Murielle continued to stay at the back of the library, glancing briefly when she heard the teacher announcing the other students. With a roll of her eyes, the Kelpie looked back at the random spines, praying that Miss Liv wouldn't notice her and give her any unwanted attention. A few bad experiences in the past had given her a major distrust for teachers...

"Why, thank you." Juliet said a little sarcastically when he called her cute, raising a brow at his own eyebrow action. She was sure he wasn't stingy in throwing that word around and it didn't impress her in the least. Anything with a beating heart would probably do for him. His complete fixation on the pretty teacher made her roll her eyes and sigh a little through her nose as she shook her head. Even in these few minutes of talking to him she'd come to think he was a bit of a lost cause and she wasn't sure if he was worth her precious time. On the other hand, she did like a challenge. Right now, she'd better check out the other players, though. She stood up from her chair, clutching her book to her chest, and was about to walk away when she stopped and turned back to the boy. A slender, manicured hand reached out to his cheek to turn his head back to her so he'd pay attention, bending forward a little to look earnestly into his eyes. "A little word of advice... stop it with the eyebrows, sweetie. It looks kind of ridiculous." With a sweet smile she patted his cheek once before turning around swiftly, skirt swishing around her, and making her way around the tables towards the two girls standing nearby.
"Hello, ladies~" She sang as she neared Mizaka and Kiah, tucking the lock of hair behind her ear again. She stared at the large book Mizaka was holding up, eyebrows creasing slightly at the title. "Oh, that looks... interesting." She sounded uncertain, bending sideways to look at the side of the book, grimacing at its size. It didn't look like it had a lot of romance, either. She turned her attention to Kiah. "You're Kyle's sister, right? He really is..." she pursed her lips a little, wondering how to phrase her thoughts on him, "...something else."
