Plans Solo #9 Words: 1009
It seemed that resting was at least doing one of them good. While Two lay asleep on the bed, the goddess inside her, Valli, was busy learning all she could. She was combing through the mind of her host, learning about her past and who she had met since coming to the Pantheon. Which turned out to be much less than she expected, though she wasn't entirely surprised. Her host was, after all, someone who was educated not to interact with those who were of a higher status than herself. Still, she was able to learn of Love and Forest. And then of course Harmodious, Valli replayed the rebuilding of the sky several times in awe.
There wasn't much that she could find other than that really, about the Pantheon anyways. Two had very much kept to her own jobs, and the goddess could count the amount of others she'd interacted with on her hosts fingers. That was one thing she was going to have to change.
The second was a dark space that she could not get to. The goddess had tried to go back as far as she could into her mind, but after she reached a certain point she could go no further. What was it? What was being blocked, her memories? Yes, that must be it, she thought to herself. After all, how would one create an all abiding minion such as the elf. But at least they weren't gone. All Valli had to do was work out how to get passed the barrier. Then she could help Two remember who she was. Perhaps then she wouldn't be so... different.
That was another thing the goddess would try to do for Two. Get her back her memory. Hopefully before the merge was complete. She'd promised after all.
Perhaps now would be a good time to prod, after all, she is asleep, thought the goddess to herself. Valli began to work her way through Twos thoughts and memories, as far as she could go, learning everything about her past. It made her cringe, well, mentally at least, she didn't have the control of her hosts features yet. It made her uneasy, seeing how slave-like she had been, how badly she was treated. One day, Valli hoped to make it up to her.
After winding her way back as far as she could, she seemed to come to a mental wall. It was black, and this was where her memories first started. But she was an adult here, and Valli could tell she was not something manufactured from a facility, that there was more to her life. It was behind this wall. But how to break it? That was something the goddess did not know how to do. She only hoped she would figure it out before she enveloped Two completely. She tried to mentally attack it, but nothing seemed to work. For now it seemed, she would have to wait.
What else was there...
Ah. Honovi. Ever so faithful.
Valli replayed the meeting over, watching her friend of old. If she could smile she would, but she was far to weak for that. At least one of her servants was still around. Valli made a note to seek her out and let her know she was returning. The demoness would be ecstatic no doubt. It was, thanks to her, that she had found her host and was now in the process of returning to her old self. Honovi could be a lot for others to handle, but for Valli she was necessary, she was her muscle basically, and without her she would be lost. The goddess was glad she had managed to survive up until now, and that they would be together again.
And what about others? Before the Fading she had had a myriad of followers, servants and aoide, all there to assist and learn from her. Now though, all she had was Honovi, and as much as she appreciated the demoness' company, she left a lot to be desired when it came to dealing with the matter of actual plants. Honovi was more, and probably still is, a warrior, a soldier. What would be useful at some stage is followers, helpers of my own, who can help me tend the gardens, grow the necessary plants and materials that might be needed. Only those who were capable though, the goddess would have no time for fools or uncommitted members.
Another thought crossed her mind. They were, currently in the residence of Rio. But it would not do to stay here. Not that she had anything against the Love God, but with her servants returning and her rebirth beginning, her own space would be needed. She'd seen in Twos memories that there were a number of doors before and after the one she used to enter Rios chambers, no doubt belonging to others like her. But how could she get one herself.
Yes! She thought to herself, pleasure resonating. The only one who could do such a thing, create a place where they could all live and have their own space and yet seem like a relatively small building. Her Lord, Master. She would have Two seek out Creation. There she could announce her return, and ask about receiving her own chambers.
The Plant goddess was pleased with her to-do list. She would tell Two of her plans and begin as soon as the host felt up to it, deciding that seeking out Honovi would be the first thing to do. After that she would see what she could do about their own quarters, as well as expanding her court.
And Two! I can't forget Two, she thought to herself, shocked that she was thinking about herself. There would be plenty of time for that in the future. Before they completed their fusing the goddess was determined to get to the bottom of Two's memory block. It would be the least she could do for the host that was bringing her back to life, after all.

Reunited Solo #10 Words: 1026
It was a couple of days after the initial merge that Two began feeling herself again. For the most part she'd stayed in bed, conversing with the goddess when both had the energy. Slowly the pair were coming to an understanding. In a way, Two felt it was no different than her past. There she had been the servant, a slave of another. She responded to their call and did their bidding, they were her master and she was their slave. It was a similar situation in the sense she took orders from another, though Valli tried to make it easier. The goddess now shared her body with her and their consciousness had somewhat joined as well.
Of course the goddess could not act through Two yet, though she'd discovered it would occur eventually, she had to speak out loud what she wanted to say, as well as take her where she wanted to go or do what she wanted to do. Not that they had done much of any of that yet, but she knew it was coming.
The elf didn't mind. She kind of liked having the goddess there, in a way it made her more confident, though she still wanted to do her best to serve, she wanted to experience more. Valli had been very much in support of this thought when it had first crossed Twos mind. A step towards recovering her memory, the goddess had said. She wondered when or if it might happen.
Valli had told her of the initial things she wanted to accomplish, finding her Aoide, a servant of old Two had come to learn, as well as seeking out Harmodious for quarters of their own. The pair, though the goddess was dormant for the moment, had decided that the first thing to do was to seek out the Aoide Honovi, the one who had taken the gem from Harmodious and kept it until she was prompted to give it to Two.
The elf tried to remember if she had seen the demoness out since their previous encounter, but had no such luck. It seemed that they would have to look on their own. Two got up and grabbed a quick glass of water before heading out of Rios quarters, into the Pantheon and out into the grounds.
It was the first time the pair had been outside since Two had taken on the gem, she'd forgotten just how much plant life was in the garden. That caused the goddess to stir.
Oh it's wonderful, so well kept. I must congratulate His Majesty on the fine work that has been put into the gardens. Though perhaps those roses could do with a bit of pruning...
Two could feel the pleasure radiate throughout her body, the goddess was truly in her element. It was an odd feeling, looking out and sensing that another was also looking out through your eyes.
Whilst the goddess was busy taking in everything around them, and offering small suggestions on better ways to keep the garden, though it was only Two who could hear them, the elf looked about for any clues that the demon lady might be about.
Sure enough, a ways off, Two could make out a shape that seemed vaguely familiar. She seemed to be doing something next to one of the many trees that provided shade across the Pantheon ground. Hoping that this might be the one Valli was looking for, the elf took of in her direction.
As the elf got closer she could tell that it was indeed the one they were looking for. And she was practicing with a sword? That was certainly something the elf was not expecting, but the goddess let her know that Honovi had once been her trusted defendant, having not much interest in taking up battle in her past life.
Not sure what to do now, the goddess ushered to introduce herself, so she let out a soft greeting, hoping that she would not disturb the woman with the rather sharp and pointy weapon. "Hello?"
Honovi sighed when she heard the other and immediately stopped what she was doing. The voice sounded familiar. She turned to face the white haired woman she had confronted a few days ago, anticipation creeping into her features. Had she taken the gem? "Well, did you work it out?"
"Err... yes," she nodded and turning slightly, indicating the gem embedded in her arm.
As soon as she saw the gem the demon dropped to her knees both in excitement and worship. "My Lady, you are returning once more. I cannot tell you how much pleasure it fills me with to see you taking the first steps towards your rebirth."
Tell her Valli, Abundantern Sædis, is grateful to the courage and honesty she showed. That I am glad she did not give up on me.
Two relayed the message to the Aoide, who rose from the ground when she was acknowledged by her master.
Honovi, she always did overdo the fealty. Still, she is a hardy warrior and tough worker. Not to mention an old friend.
The aoide turned to Two, though she did not smile, she nodded fiercely. "Thank you for your sacrifice."
Two was not quite sure what to say, not thinking that anyone would make a big deal out of what she had chosen. And maybe it would be better if they did ignore her, that way she wouldn't have to think about her eventual demise.
Enough of that.
Sorry, Two apologised, knowing the goddess disapproved of any negative feelings that the elf had.
Come, there are things to discuss. Honovi must be informed of our plans, and from there we can start about getting the next thing done.
Two nodded and relayed what the goddess had mentioned to her earlier. The aoide listened intently and then offered the suggestion that perhaps their next point of business would be to seek out Harmodious, after all, with her court growing, they could not expect Rio to take them all in.
But first they would rest, it wasn't too long ago that Two could barely walk.

New DigsJoint RP #6 Featuring Harmodious (Ivynian)Words: 814LinkVesale When the goddess had suggested going to see Harmodious about getting a place of their own the elf had become very nervous. After all, wasn't he the god of all gods? She remembered seeing him at the ceremony to rebuild the sky, she had witnessed the power he was capable of. That made the host uncomfortable. Plus she still getting used to talking to others other than to confirm or receive orders. And it didn't help that the goddess was feeling quite pleasant about the idea, excited even. Oh relax, he wont do anything to you! Besides, I'm with you, although I can't talk, I can help you with what you say. The goddess, although only recently implanted in her host, was excited to see her Lord. Sorry, my lady. Two responded, deferring to her. She was, after all, a goddess. She would do what she was told. With Honovi out running errands, gathering things they might need to make the place a home Two had ventured to the more open area of the Pantheon. Perhaps he would be about? Grey eyes looked around meekly, secretly hoping that he would not be about and they could go. Stop that.Ivynian While weariness wore on, there were those among his retinue that were willing, when Pillar and Silence were indisposed on business of their own, to aid him in changing scenery. It was an odd impulse for a god. He could be many places at once, or all of them, and was always so in some sense of being. The taking on a singular perspective of a physical body was altogether different and strange in many ways just like this. Single experience made want of others more varied. He reposed leaning against the outer basin wall of the south round fountain, listening to the endless changeable rhythms of the water. The floor was seat enough, with view of columns and statuary amid the creeping ivy and flutters of small, colourful wings. Vesale There, see?It was Valli that spotted the God first, Two was much more content to just stare around without actually looking. She considerably nervous about the whole idea, but Valli had reassured her that there would be no problems. With a mental nudge from the goddess, the host elf made her way to where Harmodious was. My Lord. Two repeated the words then swept into a graceful bow, all prompted by Valli, who was watching from the inside, happy to see Creation once more. Ivynian Bowing to someone seated on the floor was certainly a new twist on the showing of respect. Still, there was no ill grace in him for their effort, and Creation smiled and inclined his head respectfully up at the woman. She cut a fine figure. The piercing was an unusual touch of non-conformity made conformity in a way. “Your sacrifice is a high honor, Two. Gladdened is the heart that the valiant still walk among the few, willing to see the resurrection of glory. “
“Are you well? Abundantern Sædis, for what can I do for one who is abundance? One who is as many colors and kinds as I ? Provide to the provider?”Vesale It was possibly the first compliment for doing something that Two had received in her entire life so she wasn't quite sure how to respond. Thankfully she had Valli helping her out, so she managed to mumble a burst of appreciation to Creation. My Lord I am grateful to be on my way back into the living world. I long to feel the grass underneath my feet, the flowers in my hands. Their joining was still relatively new and the goddess had not yet gained the ability to sense through her host, other than sight. Valli could not wait to feel her plants again. We come to you with the humble request of quarters of our own. Though my host and I have gratefully been accommodated by Love and his, space of our own would be much appreciated. Two repeated what Plant's reply and request, this time however, she had more confidence in speaking, after all, they weren't her words, they were her goddess's, and she did not want to disappoint. Ivynian "As simple as that? Your trepidation was unfounded, Two. "
"Though perhaps Desiderio will be sad to see you provided for...he is one that keeps many companies."
" But seek the door of living vines, thick and twined together solid. The space beyond will shape to your will, that you may set it as you like it, at least for a while. It's shape will become permanent after some days have passed. " Vesale Though his words were meant to comfort, the elf host was still nervous about being in His presence and was once again glad to have Valli prompting her with things to say. My host's background required her to defer to any whose stature was higher than hers, so you may understand her feelings of anxiety. Though some things are so far ingrained they are unable to be thwarted, this is one I hope we will combat. Two repeated the words to Harmodious, speaking clearly but with blank expression, wondering to herself how Valli was going to help her with this. Thank you, Lord, for your assistance. We look forward to seeking out our new home. And it may surprise you to know that Rio has not made any attempts towards my host, as strange as it may seem. Perhaps he knew she was intended for another. Two spoke the goddess' words, finding the thought of Rio making advances on her very strange. Ivynian "Combat?" "Unique and futile, sorrow though it be in the end, to try to better the host without when the end is the same. Whether she is bettered or not, what matters in the end is whether or not the god inside is. Cruel, but then, what isn't when one thing must consume another. "
"Whether she ends in a state like a person instead of a slave only serves your conscience, Valli. It is the same as talking about her when she is your mouth...and she offering no resilience of her own. No input. No feelings except inadequacy. A fine slave, indeed. What could] it be in you that you are lacking, to want from such a source. Revealing. "And yet where spirit is served for wholeness may be spirit preserved in others. Gain need not be counted in coin alone, but in faith as well. I wish you both well in your growth together." Vesale This time Two spoke alone. "Valli wants to try and help me... remember who I was." It was soft, and she did not look him directly in the eye, rather everywhere around him. She wasn't sure he would understand, and although he was who he was, she didn't really feel like explaining it either, after all, what was the point if she might not be around for much longer? Two tried not to think too much over what he said, that she did not matter in the end. It was hard to think about, something she chose to ignore, but him speaking about it made her feel weak once more, just when she was starting to feel stronger. I just want you to remember who you were. If it would make you feel better we can leave, after all, he has given us directions to our new quarters, which is what we sought in the first place."Thank you," Two said once more, without prompting from her goddess. "if it is okay with you, we must be off." "If you need Valli, or me, you can find us in our new home." She added as an afterthought.

Somewhere New to Sleep Solo #11 Words: 1215
With new rooms obtained from Harmodious Two and Valli were eager to find out exactly where they were. The door he had mentioned was one they kept their eyes peeled for, woven of vine and as solid as wood. No doubt it would stand out amongst the others, which all seemed to be wooden and carved with something that symbolized the one that lay behind them. Theirs was one made of what she represented.
Two had suggested that they go and get Honovi before they found their new home but Valli had said no, it would be best to find it first and once it was made then they would seek out Honovi.
Made? What do you mean made. Two asked Valli, puzzled. She had been wondering what exactly would lie behind the doors that were theirs. Rio's room was quite large, would it be similar to that? Or different? Two had no idea.
I thought perhaps you might have worked it out, but I don't think you quite understand who Harmodious is. Valli started, not talking down to Two, but trying to explain exactly the strength of the god they had just spoken to.
My domain is Plants, Rio's is Love, Glyph embodies Forest. Harmodious, he is Creation and Destruction. The beginning and end of all.
Oh. Two said simply. She hadn't thought about it like that. She knew he was strong, but, that he was Creation and Destruction. That made her even more scared of him than he was before.
Relax, he is harmless, at least in that state. Not that it matters. What is important at the moment is the Creation side of things. I'm sure the room, whilst plain and simple to begin with, will change when we decided what shape it should take to best fit our needs.
So that's what he meant. Two had been trying to figure out what he meant when he mentioned the room would keep it's shape permanently. How was a room able to change it's shape in the first place. Now she had an answer and it made sense, if not strange. This place certainly was something.
So they made there way to where the doors to the different rooms of the different gods, Two with her eyes peeled for the door Harmodious had described.
There! It was Valli who spotted it first, perhaps because it was made of plant she felt it and that's how she spotted it, but soon they were facing it, waiting to go in.
So... I just go in? Two asked, wondering if they had to do anything special.
I can't see why not. Though don't expect anything amazing, it doesn't know what we want yet. Valli replied.
So it was left to Two to open the door and find out what lay beyond. With a nervous push, the door swung inward. It seemed to move under her touch, the vines that made up the barrier recognizing who it was that was entering. Inside was... nothing that Two had expected. It was quite small, just one room with two doors leading off to what she assumed were the kitchen and the toilet. It was plain, nothing like she'd seen in Rio's quarters and there wasn't any furniture about. The floors were wood and the walls the same, paneled vertically. There were two small windows one one side but other than that there was no light.
Still, if she were a slave Two would have been more than happy to have her own space like this. Back on the ship in which she resided, she shared a room with six other slaves, which had only just enough room to fit the three bunks that were their sleeping places. There was no room for cupboards to hold clothes or special items, not that they had any of those anyway. There certainly wasn't a separate kitchen and bathroom.
Hmm... not quite what I expected, but I guess it's enough to work with. Don't worry, it'll soon be in a much more pleasant state. The goddess commented.
It's better than anything I've had before. Besides Rio's place. Two added offhand.
Yes... but this will be much grander. You'll see, though I guess I have to help you think up what to make it into. Valli replied, excited to get to work on their new home.
Think up? Two asked, puzzled once more.
Of course! We have to think what we want it to shape itself into. How else will it know how to change? Valli replied, wondering if Two had listened to her before at all.
Oh, right. Well, what do you want? Two asked. It's yours after all.
It's ours. Valli didn't want Two to feel like she did when Harmodious had spoken before. I think, at least, we need space to sleep, a kitchen, a bathroom, and plenty of space to garden. The room should take care of the rest.
With Valli's instructions, Two began to form a picture in her mind, of the things she'd mentioned. Bedrooms, one for her, one for Honovi, perhaps a couple more if anyone else decided to turn up that was part of Valli's court in the past. A kitchen, though she wondered who might use it when she was gone. Two doubted Honovi was much of a cook. A bathroom. Perhaps two in case one was in use and someone else needed to go. She made sure to think about showers and baths as well. They would need somewhere to clean themselves after all. And then space to garden. Two wasn't quite sure what Valli had meant by this but she thought on it anyway.
All the while she had her eyes closed, thinking of what the room should be like for her and her goddess. She thought she could feel something under her feet, but perhaps it was just part of her imagination. Finally, when she thought she'd stood there for long enough with her eyes closed, Two slowly pried them open to see if anything changed.
Which is had.
Before her eyes the room had grown. It was much larger than it had been, and instead of wooden floorboards the ground was now covered in grass. There were many paths that could be followed, all of them in straight lines, crisscrossing across the room. Taking up space between the paths were what Two could only assume were garden beds, large square beds full of dirt, but not an actual plant in sight.
There was a small well, for watering purposes Two assumed, and a large glass area off to one side, with glass on the other. At the very back of the room, which was quite far since the garden beds with plentiful, was a door that she assumed lead to the living part of the room. Besides the large glass window that was attached to the glass room, above them were what seemed to be holes in the roof, letting in the natural light.
Perfect. Two could feel Valli radiating with happiness.
But where are all the plants? Two asked, once again perplexed.
I doubt Creation has enough energy to reproduce every single plant imaginable. Besides, half of the fun is growing them. If Valli could smile, she would be beaming.

Always Room for More Solo #12 Words: 1124
Since she, they'd, been given their own room by Harmodious, Two had done a lot of thinking about her new life now as a host. Although it was much like her old one, where she did what she was told, there was also some liberation that came with it. She was important, at least many others, including her host, saw her that way. What she was doing was honorable, she had been told by Harmodious himself. It had made her feel better about this decision she had made. Perhaps it would turn out for the best.
There had not been any breakthroughs with her memory though, even though the Goddess had been trying her hardest. Every night she would try to break through what she described as a dark, clouded wall. Valli had no luck at the moment, but was sure something would happen eventually. Two hoped it was before she was completely taken over by the goddess.
Already she was starting to show signs of getting stronger, though they were only slight. Every so often she would find herself looking at something she had not been, that she hadn't thought she'd wanted too. It was the goddess, though this was about all she could do. She still could not speak through her, like she'd heard others do. Perhaps in time.
For now though, the goddess of plants was happy to teach her host on the art of gardening, something Two had no knowledge of. She was, after all, more of a housemaid than a gardener. She'd always been the one to iron the clothes or cook the evening meal, not one to trim the roses or water the bushes. And because no one ever told her too, she never took an interest in it. Now though, with her Goddess being of Plants, she thought it was something she should learn.
Honovi had recently returned with some very basic supplies, including a couple of plants, and Valli was helping Two learn how to properly transplant something from a pot to a garden bed.
No no, you've got to be more careful than that, or you will damage it's roots. Huffed the goddess.
Two quickly stopped rushing the process, taking care to make a hole in the dirt large enough so that the root system could easily fit into it.
Much better.
With the plant in the ground, Two began to fill it up, careful not to pack the soil too tightly. Once that was done, she grabbed a watering can from nearby and gave the plant and the surrounding earth a good soak.
Well done, you're getting better.
The Elf smiled, glad she was learning something she hadn't done before.
Two was just about to start work on transplanting another of the species that the demoness aoide had picked up on her venture out into the markets when there was a knock at their door.
Honovi, who didn't really have an interest in gardening, too much of a chore for her she'd said, immediately jumped up and went over. It was common for her to do that, she was, after all, the muscle. Her job was to protect and she took it very seriously.
She pulled the door back to reveal a pale Nagina, with hair cropped short and a rather colorful tail. "Welcome, to the chambers of Lady Plant, how may I assist?"
She could tell the other was not one of the gods, so for now, she treated her as she would any other who was unknown and not of a higher power.
"Oh hello~" Chimed the Nagina, rather too cheerfully for Honovi's liking. "Oh my, doesn't this place look lovely, a little bare but nothing some hard work can't fix!" She beamed back at Honovi who had a rather perplexed look on her face.
"Plant? Oh then I have come to the right place" She said with a giggle. "Petal is my name, I recently awakened and have come to serve." She said with a bow, trying to add a touch of seriousness to her voice, though it was offput by the wobble in her curtsy.
"Well..." Started the demoness but she was cut off from the voice of the other than occupied the room.
"Come in then, Lady Plant wishes to see the one who wishes to enter her service." It was Two's voice, but the words were definitely those of the goddess.
"Are you sure..." Started Honovi, a brow raised at the newcomer, but she was cut off once more when the Nagina slithered past her, knocking her out of the way with her rather large and heavy tail.
"A pleasure... oh so sorry to see you have not yet returned to your full power." The Nagina responded, was that a tear in her eye?
Not yet, but I feel it shalt be too long.
"Well, I'd love to serve you if you'd have me! I love gardening, it's one of my favorite things to do!" The Nagina smiled and clapped her hands. Honovi had retreated to a corner to sit and watch. She rolled her eyes, wondering if Valli would be stupid enough to take one like this into her service.
With a court as small as this, what choice do I have? Petal, as long as you're willing to work and work hard, I can see no problem with you joining us.
"But your grace.." Honovi started to plead but she trailed off, knowing there was no point arguing with her once her mind had been made up.
Two meanwhile had just watched what was happening, sure she was speaking but they weren't her words. She was wary, like Honovi, of the rather sweet attitude of the other, but was happy when the goddess decided to let her stay. Many hands make light work after all.
Petal was so happy she was jumping up and down, clapping her hands with excitement. Honovi simply gave her a look as if she couldn't believe the girl was real before retreating to her quarters, having had enough of Petal for one day.
"Oh!" The Nagina suddenly stopped, then rummaged through a small bag she had brought with her before pulling out something small and fluffy. "Is it alright if he stays too? I found him on my way here, isn't he adorable?" She chimed, holding out a small sleeping rainbow floox to Two and Valli.
At this Two was apprehensive. It seemed to be a rodent, and rodents were never good, not where she came from. Valli on the other hand was more than happy to have the creature stay.
Rainbow flooxes are akin with the plantlife, she assured Two.
And with that, their small party of Three became Five.

Memories Solo #13 Words: 1023
Ever since she'd gained enough strength to do so, Valli had been trying to break through the barrier that was blocking off Two's old memories from her current ones. Whatever had been done to it sure was strong, and no matter how hard she mentally pushed, she could not get through. The goddess was at an end. She could feel herself getting stronger each day. And each day she felt stronger was a day that she felt closer to taking over completely and leaving Two without remembering who she really was.
There was only one thing she could think of but the goddess was so deflated she didn't think anything could possibly work. Still, it was worth a shot. Two heads are better than one, or in this case at least, two minds are better than one. Two was sleeping, like she always was when Valli was attempting to break through the barrier. But for this to have a chance she needed both of their minds pushing against it. The goddess gently poked the elf's mind, willing her to wake from her slumber.
What... what's wrong? Two thought, still wrestling herself from her sleep.
Nothing, it's just, I need your help to try something. From there Valli went on to explain what she had been doing each night, trying to uncover what Two had lost and how she had no luck thus far. And that now she thought that if they worked together something might happen.
But how do I even know where to go in my mind? Two asked.
Think back as far as you can go, to where you cannot remember anymore. Valli replied, hoping the elf would be able to.
Right. And so she did, Two made her way back through all the great memories she'd had since coming to the Pantheon, of the friends she'd made, Rio, Nashwa, Sarka, who saved her from drowning. Of the festival, where she witnessed something that she was sure everyone would talk about for centuries to come, back to when she was pushed from the cliff, where she blindly did as she was told. Back through the ship, through the punishment, through the lessons, through the jobs, through everything until she couldn't remember anymore. It stopped, she couldn't think of anything beyond that point.
Found it. Two gently prodded at the barrier in her mind, wondering what lay beyond it. She'd never really thought about any of this before. But that was before everything. Before she'd come to this place, before meeting Rio, before placing the gem on her skin. And yet here it was, an obvious barrier in her mind that she could not get passed. Two had never thought much about her memories before, but now that she did she thought it was odd that hers just stopped when she was somewhere between a child and a woman. What of her birth? Her life growing up?
Now we have to push, mentally, we have to break through it. Together, urged Valli.
And so they did, their minds pushing together against the blackness, desperate to get passed, to shatter it, to bring back all the memories that Two had lost.
It's not working! Two said, disheartened.
No, we can't give up. This must work. Valli spoke, desperation ringing through Two.
Then, a mental snap.
Valli's conscious shot back to the present, but Two's lingered.
Did it work? The goddess asked, desperate to know, but not sure if anything worked. And if it did she did not want to pry while Two rediscovered herself.
Yes. It was the only thing Valli needed to hear.
Two was remembering it all.
She was born Aanali Sh'aerur, the only daughter of Kohln and Pueri Sh'aerur, a loved and valued couple in a small elven community, who for years tried to conceive before she was finally born. There she grew up with more love than anyone could imagine. It was not just her parents, but the whole community who cared for her. She wanted to be a teacher. She had many friends her own age. She had a pet firefly. Several really. It was a wonderful life, filled with countless memories that she would spend all the time she had left reminiscing about.
Then the ships came.
They tore through their home and the homes of many others in their community, abducting the children and killing the adults, for the adults were not susceptible to the mind techniques they used to turn the children into perfect slaves. The memory was so vivid, her parents, trying to stop them, dying, her being whisked away never to see them again. To forget who they were, who she was.
They wiped her memory and so she became Two, the slave.
Not anymore though. From now on she would be Aanali. At least for as long as she could. She would no longer be the slave Two, that everyone knew, and even if she were to not see any of the others again, she was glad that at least Valli would know who she was, and she would be able to tell them of her and her family and her life before becoming a slave. Even though her life was coming to a close, she was glad she'd taken the gem to her skin and welcomed in the goddess, for without her she was sure she would not have regained any knowledge of her past, and she would have died as she was, a slave who lived for nothing but to serve. Now she lived for a purpose, to bring Valli back to life. Valli, the one who brought her back to who she was.
"Thank you," She spoke out loud, tears rolling from her eyes. For now the host just sat there, taking everything in, reliving as much as she can. She didn't care if she was crying. She was remembering it all and it was glorious. She was in no hurry to do anything more than to sit and remember, and to talk to Valli about her past.
You're welcome. Valli replied. If she could cry too, she would.
