Hel was just getting worked up by his claims. The ghoul shot up from her chair, sending it clattering onto the ground as she slammed both of her hands ontop of the table’s surface. “I will not be defeated by this, Mot! You mark my words! I will do whatever it takes to be the best! The best! Do you hear me!?” Her voice was raising higher and higher.

Her hair was getting mussed again.

What. Ever. It. Takes!” She wailed, and her hands moved to the table’s ledge, and with another loud cry, she flipped it to the side, the room echoing with a loud clatter and bang as it wibbled and then landed flat on its top.

The reaper’s shoulders heaved from the exertion…and after a moment she straightened again and then looked sheepish. “…Oh.”

Mot should have seen this coming. Hel was becoming more and more unstable. He was given little warning before the inevitable table flipping happened. With a last minute push off of the table, he dove for cover.

"..." Mot sighed and got to his feet. "Most people say 'Please, help me Mot'. Is it really so hard?"

“…Heh…” Hel moved over to the table and started to lift it, she paused though, and ended up dropping it again at Mot’s words. “Ha! Most people, yes! But I am not ‘most people’, I am Hel Brynhildr! I do not need help! I will get better all by myself!”

So there.

The ghoul grabbed the table once more, and with a quick snap of her arms, flipped it back into its rightful position, wincing as it smacked against the wall as well. The ghoul then bent down and picked up Mot’s book, placing it back on the table. She picked up her stuff then and placed it back on the table, and then sat down. She pulled out another pen, and then a new sheet of paper…and then stared at it.

Er…how did one work on improving their hand writing?

Ah. Quite the tantrum.

Mot crossed his arms and shrugged. Fine. Help yourself, Hel.

He waited and waited, watching as she seemed to have a stare down with her page. "You know.." Mot started, walking around to sit down. "A lot of great and proud people learned what they know from someone who was better at it than they were." Just words. Nothing more.

"But you just go ahead. Sit there and become amazing all by yourself."

He sat down, opened his book, and started to read again.

Hel stared at the blank sheet some more, as if it would start to secretly divulge to her the meaning of existence oh and…you know, help her write better.

Her eyes darted up to Mot as he spoke, and her brows furrowed at his words, and her lips twisted into a scowl. “Yeah…well, you know what? I will be the first to become the best…all by myself! Oh that Hel, so, so stubborn.

I will Mot, you just watch. I got here to the Academy all by myself after all. Hmph!” She stared at the blank paper some more, and then started to write out her alphabet. Er…it still looked like her usual writing…

Mot frowned as he stared at his book, a look of complete disgust beginning to form. "If you're so fantastic at doing things alone, you wouldn't need to be at school." Mot scorned, licking his thumb and flipping a page.

He honestly didn't want to be upset with Hel, but this was one of those times she needed to be shown she was wrong.

E…F…G…H…I…

Hel paused, the crease in her forehead softening.

If you're so fantastic at doing things alone, you wouldn't need to be at ******** reaper stopped writing, her eyes still on the paper, but her gaze seemingly unfocused. The ghoul placed her pen down on top of the paper, her lips pulling down into a frown now. Yeah. If she was good enough, she wouldn’t have to be at school. If she was good, she wouldn’t have need to gone to school…Sif didn’t. Ouch. Hel’s shoulders slumped and her lip wibbled. She spun in her seat, and rested her arms on the back of the chair as she stared down at her feet, fretting.

Well. At least he had gotten through to her. But it was taking every inch of Mot's resolve not to fly to her side and dote on her every need. He hated seeing her so upset. Even worse that she gave up and turned her back to him.

His heart was hurting quite a bit.

Mot breathed a soft sigh, shutting his book and laying it down. "Hel.." He murmured softly. "What are we?"

Hel rested her head on her arms, and let out an exasperated breath as she swung her feet.

At Mot’s question, she paused, and took a moment to mull it over. She seemed to forget that she had heard these words before, as she had said them herself once. Her brows furrowed as she kept her back to him. “…Boilfriend and ghoulfriend?” She offered in a sulky tone.

"Well, yes." Mot said with a light smile. "But that isn't what I meant."

"Think of where we are. Why we're here. Who we are." He paused, hoping she would start to crank those gears. "Now then. What are we?"

That crease in her brows returned, and she pondered over Mot’s words…but she was coming to one conclusion.

They were at Amityville Academy…they were here to learn…they were Halloweeners who were also reapers…and well…she came to one conclusion once more. Hel shot up from her chair and spun on her feel, where she then promptly gave her chair a powerful kick, watching as it slammed against the wall and then clattered onto the floor.

WE’RE WEAK!” Hel cried.

Mot's forehead hit the table again.

Harder.

Hel spun on her heel once more, and pointed at Mot.

Hey! Stop lying around! This isn’t a matter to take lightly!” Hel huffed and moved over to pick up the chair and then righted it. “We’re not strong enough…” Hel scowled.

The grim reaper slowly raised his head, only to rest it in his palm as he leaned his elbow on the table. "Are you quite done destroying my furniture?" He mused with an exasperated tone.

"Okay..I'm being too subtle." Much too subtle. This was Hel he was talking to. "We're students. We're weak. It doesn't matter that we have weaknesses. We get stronger through training. There will always be others so much stronger than us but that doesn't mean we give up, right?" Hel never gave up. Not as long as he's known her.

"Writing may seem unimportant to you since your strength lies in combat, but you really shouldn't ignore it." He said sternly, brows furrowed. "Communication is very important, Hel. It could mean the difference between life or death."

Not destroying your furniture…” Hel muttered sulkily, crossing her arms.

Her gaze drifted back to Mot as he spoke, and her lips pulled down once more as she mulled them over. After a few moments, Hel started to pace, back and forth, around the room. She looked like she wanted to counter the words someway somehow, but, alas, all of them were true. Hel went from one end of the room to the other, and let out another exasperated sigh. She came back towards the table, and glanced up at the cowboil before looking down at her feet with her hands on her hips.

She didn’t exactly want to say that he was right…because that meant she was wrong. Hel crossed her arms, and sulked for a moment longer before she seemed to remember something. “Communication…huh?” She muttered, and grabbed a small sheet of paper, and scribbled something down before she marched over to the corner of the room. The reaper held her arm out then, and much like how their weapons appeared from the concentrating of FEAR particles, a black raven formed, sitting perched on her arm.

Its eyes were a light blue, much like Hel’s and it tilted its head as Hel held out the piece of paper to it. The raven took it into its beak, and after listening to Hel’s murmured instructions leapt from her arm and soared across the room, right to Mot, where it landed on his shoulder, and then stretched its neck out, waiting for Mot to take the paper.

On the little paper, all Hel drew was this: <3
