That glancing blow kind of sucked. Em felt a little deflated and tried again, but this time she spun around, over and over, to use the forces of nature to power her swing. When she finally struck, she struck gold.

Attempting to Snag Cage 2

Well, there was only one thing to do with a gun with as many issues as this. Fire it until it hit something. That seemed as good a plan as any to Lucas and he moved over a cage, sighted, and fired again.

This shot was successful, and he called out, though certainly not yelling like a frightened little trainee. "This one could use some lovin' over here."

The brunet smirked as the gun fired successfully at cage three. Now she was getting the hang of it; Red Fish and Blue Fish were guns that could be a little finnicky, so she was familiar with being a marksman.

Time for cage four, as she heard cage one's creature give a final cry before being subdued.

She gave a wry smirk. Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage... It described the FEAR driven creatures very well. They always looked so irate.

"Just because I slipped my finger on the trigger doesn't mean I don't have my s**t together," Selena replied harshly, self conscious about her failures. "How about you let Melissa worry about Melissa, and worry about yourself, C?"

As she missed, Selena let out a low whistle. "Okay, fine. I do need to step up my game, girl." Now that she'd announced herself as Melissa, her personality had gotten a little more chipper. "Show me how it's done, sister."

Okay, well that bugger wasn't getting held down any time soon. He felt a mass behind him narrowly missing his leg. Well this could be a bit roughre than it looked. Mercutio decided to switch targets, if only to save his hide.

He shuffled over to another one of the critters, to wrestle him up. Of course, it would help if the damn things would stay still. He got an arm gripped around this one, but it quickly slipped out. He attempted to get his grappling gun out, but the monster had already moved out of his aim when he was ready. It just wasn't his lucky day it seemed.

Aiden didn't care for the speeches. he preferred the basic information and tried to drown out the reality. He knew each day could be his last, it was just easier to believe otherwise.

The Runic Hunter took up the tool and helped trap the monster.

The first hit had been a miss, it had been a fluke. Afzal and Lowe had been together far too long for something this ridiculous to happen, and the Sun Hunter switched hands and twirled his companion before bringing him down.

Cecil snapped the elastic band on the back of his green-tinted, snazzy prescription sports goggles, brandishing his magnificent bronze weapon gallantly and in what he felt was the most dynamic and amazing way, gave a spin (complete with added sound-track (nuhnuhnuhnuhNAAAAH!) under his breath) fired the frog-like monstrous grappling gun strapped to his arm with a brave shout. The mechanical "tongue" of the contraption shot forth, snapping a little stinging blow against the shadowy creature that apparently was all it needed to burst into nothingness.

"Hell yeah. Impressionnant Badass right here, yeah."

A fierce should could be heard from cage two, Gear's hands throwing up in the air, accidentally dropping his gun. Whoops.

"Well.. anyways .. YAHHOOOOO!"

Kieran sat grimly on the steps, not one of the first to arrive but, with so many other hunters filing in, he wasn’t the last despite having been checking his supplies in a near-panic after waking up an hour earlier than he’d meant to. He was tired, just a bit, and coffee hadn’t helped all that much. But there was work to be done, and he was going to do it. From the sounds of things last not, at least half these people weren’t worried, which meant he was going to have to be worried for them. Someone had to be. And still… still it wasn’t going to be enough. Even before the leader of the Death division finally explained the mission, the fact that they were all here… they wouldn’t all come back. At least half of them, probably more. An icy feeling coiled in Keiran’s stomach as Liam spoke, somehow finding a way to be even more concerned at his explanation.

It was a necessary sacrifice. Most missions involved a necessary sacrifice when they were humans struggling against creatures like those. But this time… this time it would be a very large sacrifice indeed. Gray eyes roamed over those sitting around him, other faces on the steps. Most would not return, no matter how prepared they thought they might be. No one was ever prepared enough. He tried, heaven knew, but it wouldn’t be enough… Still. There was work to be done, and this risk was nothing new. Sure, the hunter had never been involved in a mission involving the apocalypse before, but taking things one step at a time was better than panicking over the fact that he was probably woefully under prepared for it.

Rising to his feet, Kieran strode forward to collect a grappling gun and start towards one of the cages. It wasn’t a new task, but there was no sense in ever being cavalier about being this close to… well… one of those. But while haste was ill-advised, hesitation was as well. Kieran scowled as he missed the shot, but forced himself to brush it off. It didn’t matter, right now it didn’t matter. There was little danger at the moment, it was the notion that he might again miss later that was worrying him. It might mean the difference between someone’s life or death then.

He threw back his hand expertly, and with a grunt flicked his entire arm forward. The cat o' nine tails came whistling down as it aimed for the caged monster.

Seeing her fellow Runics quickly step up and take over the job of snagging the beast in the first cage where she had failed Lee moved on to the next, smoothly lining up for her shot. She gave a grunt of effort as the hook sunk into the monster, line immediately going taut. She made to put most of her weight on her right leg less her lingering injuries make her the weak link in holding this monster still. She was getting too old for this job.

Mercutio continued to struggle with the shadow for a while when a voice broke through the ringing grunts and shouts of the hunters.

This one could use some lovin' over here.

Well if that wasn't a call for help, he didn't know what was. He ran over to the sound of the voice and pounced on the already-tackled monsters. Well alright! He got a fierce grip on this one with his grappling gun, and yanked down hard. In rejoice, he let out a little, "Aw Yeah!" with the rest of his hunter companions.

Damien appeared very sober while listening to the speech, the scale of this mission becoming clear. A permanent hole into Halloween? He shuddered to think of what would happen if they didn't stop it. Then the little speech Liam gave at the end, was icing on the cake. A suicide mission? No kidding. They would be going into their territory and fighting, that was never a good thing.

Once the speech was over, He stepped back as the inedible chaos of Hunters trying to snare the creatures, and other charging their weapons. He waited until one of them was fully snared, then whipped out his gun and fired a shot.

"Nice shot Celestine"
