I have no problem with any of these. I think they are interesting designs.
Eh, I suppose I'm being a bit of a nostalgia geezer. Still, I don't believe in fanservice for the sake of fanservice, and that's just what Venusmon is... To compare her against Mervamon (who was also fanservice), Mervamon was more alien and foreign because of things like the green hair, the snake arm, and the clothes that looked like they had teeth and were DEVOURING her.

Give whoever designed THAT some points for creativity. Venusmon... not so much.
Yeah, but Venus was the roman god of love and beuty. She looks human and normal because thats what most humans find to be appealing. Fan service? That is for the fans because they find it appealing, thus connecting it in their minds to beauty, even if lust replaces love in this formula. you have to admit, that is the direction the designers were obviously going.

That's certainly true, and I definitely see where the designers were going in that regard... I suppose I just think that they could have done more to 'monsterize' her, similar to how they did Angemon and Angewomon... y'know...? I could buy that they were still 'monsters', even though they were still clearly very, very humanoid.

Since you brought that up, let's look at Rosemon... Another design I consider to be quite good. A rose is a symbol of beauty, so they translated it by making the Digimon a beautiful woman, with the thorny shawl-whip thing, the boots that resemble a stem, and the half-rose face... A very clever metaphor, and a very creatively-designed Digimon in my personal opinion.

Venusmon, on the other hand, is much more literal. Venus was portrayed as a beautiful woman, so Venusmon is... a beautiful woman. Give them points for researching the mythology, but it's not nearly as creative as even the other humanoid Olympus Digimon like Apollomon and Dianamon... And as I said, I thought the new Vulcanusmon had a neat design.

In short I definitely see where they got the design, but nonetheless I think they could have done more with it. That's just my opinion, and I recognize that it's pretty harsh, but I think what I think. *shrug*

But all of those female digimon you mentioned could very easily have their monster parts sold off as accessories. Angewomon and Angemon's wings, Rosemons face. those are really the only things about them that scream or even consider monster. And those all could easily be faked. Now I will admit that Venusmon is missing any of this form of feature (Granted we cant see her eyes, so who knows.) I understand and respect your opinion, I am just saying that to me, humans can be just as monster like as creatures of mythology. Then you add in the fact that digimon are created from bits of data that come from the internet. I dont know about you, but I know what half the internet is, thus I shudder to think about what is on the darkside of the digital world. I am gonna go ahead and guess that it represents the other side of the internet though.

Mm. I see where you're coming from, though I sort of disagree. If you look at it on a very literal level, you're certainly right, although the style in which they're drawn and the not-completely-human proportions that older humanoid Digimon are drawn in serves to alienate them a little further from humanity than I think some people realize. And I've already described why I think Rosemon is a creative design, and it's less the literal appearance than the idea and the visual metaphor that the design itself sort of represents.

I think we're understanding each other pretty well here, it seems like we just have different opinions on the matter. I think we need to agree to disagree, or this discussion is gonna go on all night LOL. You make a good point about the junk side of the internet though, ROFL. xD I think that part of the internet didn't completely exist at the time when Digimon were made, and I too shudder to think about what Digimon might have spawned from less savory parts of the internet... Maybe we can just say that ugly guys like Cyclonemon and junk Digimon like Numemon/Sukamon/Nanimon come from those parts of the internet, ROFL. xD

Lol I never started rping... I saw one giant f*fest of mega+ digimon and said i'll spam and make whimsical posts til I have a good enough team... lol

But venusmon... sexy. O.o

Venusmon is indeed sexy and my p***s likes her,

wtf...

....okay I apologize to anyone who was weirded out by that comment. =___= To be clearer, the point I was trying to make is that Venusmon has a terrible design outside of being 'sexy', AKA fanservice. The only appealing thing about her design, in other words, is her boobs, and that's not enough to make a design good.

....does anyone get what I'm saying? I sort of feel like I'm not articulating this as well as I should be.

lol I was just teasing you : P

Look it's a Chuchidarumon, what a rare sight to see. I didnt know it was a new Digimon Windy. Could you have made a mistake? It likes to hide from view, even hiding as much as three or more times from onlookers. I wish Chuchidarumon's name could be MudFrigimon. It would definitely suit it more.
