Taryn was entirely ignorant to Tset's smile and just nodded as Roch spoke. "Granted, we were attacked and pushed apart, so don't worry too much. The more of us there are, the harder it is to separate us. Still, staying... attached is probably a good idea."
For a ghoul who generally loathed physical attention, she was more than willing to keep her friends from being hurt. As an afterthought, she held out her jar-bearing arm toward Mort, almost appearing as if she may have been handing it to him but really she was looking to lock arms. They would be an impenetrable jackdamn force moving across the barrier...
"They have to be getting in somehow. I have to wonder, though, if it isn't inside the school? The first beast we came across was in the theater."

Roch headed down the stairs and for the door of the dorm, pausing to tug his hood up and check to make sure Taryn was wearing his gloves and had her coat zipped. He didn't even seem to realize what he was doing before he opened the door and stepped out into the snow again.
Deliberately seeking out the same jackers that had kicked him in the balls struck a bad chord in his mind, but if he had to, he had to. He glanced back at the other three and shrugged. "I don't know where they're coming from, but I think we should head for the front gate and work from there."

Staying together. Yes, Tsetsiliya liked this idea very much. Very much, indeed.
However the cold she had casually been trying to ignore all evening was finally seeping into the poludnica's bones. The play costume was rather thin, and she felt Mort's icy touch on her shoulder very easily. She gave the boil a smile before Taryn added her two pumpkin seeds about staying attached as they moved closer to the barrier. Yes, that was an idea. Being the only one with enough free hands, she secured her nutcracker around her waist with the sash (not the most secure, but staying together was more important - she could bear the accidental loss of the nutcracker) and placed a hand in the crook of Mort's arm, the other holding onto Taryn's arm.
"I-I agree that the barrier and the front gate are good places to begin searching," she added. "However.. I, too, am wondering about the rat king in the theater. Did he perhaps.. teleport?" The ghoul frowned. She hoped to Jack not. That would only make things even more difficult. But that did get her to thinking.. "Perhaps the barrier is only affecting us? Amityville, I mean. I am wondering if they are crossing the barrier because it does not affect them?" In her mind, it all made sense, but in saying so, it sounded more muddled than anything. But Christmastown had been all JOY.. and these creatures had to be made of JOY.. surely if they were made of FEAR, it made sense that they would be repelled, right?

"Mrrrrrrr." A thoughtful, if not disconcerted sound at the very thought of an anti-FEAR shield. Were the Christmas creatures able to get that sort of technology? What about the other major holidays? And indeed, it was a chilling thought to recall that the rat king had simply appeared in the theater without any apparent difficulty . . . "Any reason f-for them coming for fight?" Mort asked as they headed out, frowning. JOY just didn't seem like it would breed the sort of person who would just up and attack others, not without some sort of reason, right? Which once again brought up the possibility of the Insanity being the culprit . . . Aagagagaghg, his head was starting to hurt from the circuitous route of thought.
The snow outside helped somewhat, but once again he twitched as some snow gathered on his head again. When the jar was seemingly offered, he gave Taryn a confused look before attempting to take it, as opposed to locking arms. "W-Want m-m-me hold?" he asked, attempting to still look at her while ducking his head against the wind and its bothersome snowflakes.

Taryn's brow furrowed. She hadn't really considered that these creatures could be arriving in ways the students couldn't follow. A JOY barrier would certainly counteract FEAR, wouldn't it? What if these creatures all had powers like Colette and were simply teleporting within the... sphere? Hemisphere? How far did this thing reach, anyway? Was it just Amityville? Thinking back on it, the rat king had been far too large to just stomp through the halls unnoticed, or even fit through the doors at either side of the stage. It made sense for it to have just appeared, perhaps the flickering of the lights denoting some strange surge of energy.
Jack damn it all...
"Oh, no. Here," Taryn said, hooking her arm out at an awkward angle, "So we can all stay together..." She felt the most comfortable keeping her jar to herself, what with it being her own semi-expensive science equipment. "You know, I've heard rumors that Amityville went to Christmas Town last year around this time... revenge, perhaps? I wasn't around to know for sure..." It had apparently slipped her mind that both Tset and Roch were Knobs and could very well have been.

"I wasn't here when that happened, either," Roch admitted, trudging determinedly through the snow. "But if this is Christmas's revenge, then I jackin' hate Christmas," he told them bluntly. "Too cold, and those freakin' attacking guys are creepin' me out. Ball kickin', hug stealin'--Remind me to ask for a hug later, I can still feel that teddy scare trying to hug me to death," he added to Taryn, making a face.
"But I don't know... um... Tset, right? Were you here for the Christmas thing?"

" ICE TO MEET YOU!" A pile of snow rumbled from beneath Roch's foot and then suddenly, as if forming itself, the vicious SNOW MANG appeared. "Eh boyo, dese yer girlyfriends?" It's jagged mouth rustled beneath it's scarf. "Maybe I can relieve you of them. You like me girlies? I hear I'm pretty Cooooooool.." It then proceeded to throw suspiciously hard icy snowballs at the punk reaper in front of it. Snow Mang Attack roll: 2 d12 Damage: 2 HP: 5/5

There was her chance! Although she was worried for Roch, Taryn's hand snapped in and she grabbed the snowmang's scarf, ripping it back. She had forgotten the properties of frozen snow and the beast's head flew off... no, no! The ghoul tried to shove the scarf into her jar and get it closed before the thing dissipated, hoping that that would keep it from following suit.

and then...
...the music stopped. The snow creature froze in place, not moving or giving any sign of life. It doesn't stir. All is still.
The enemy has stopped, you may either wait around or leave it and post for peppermint points!

Taryn's breath came to her in short pants, and with her hand still screwed around the lid of the jar. Abigail looked to Roch, soon followed by the slow, frightened glance of her host. Taryn's face was twisted, her lips parted, and her eyes rolled back down to the still snowmang. The music... it was gone...
This... was not good.

Roch grunted, wiping at the snow that was on his coat with a scowl. Then he looked at the snow man, a frown on his face. "What the hell?" he said. "Shouldn't he have dissipated?" he asked, moving forward to poke the carcass. "That was jackin' beautiful by the way," he added to Taryn, grinning at her. "ALMOST as cool as when you ripped that tangle guy apart!"
He was now ranking her "cool moments." Jack help them all.

"A-ah.. y-yes, I was there." As the questions turned towards her, Tsetsiliya shifted her weight awkwardly. "A-and undoubtedly this is revenge, yes.. but really.." Taking a breath, the ghoul realized she should start at the beginning. "It was the first field trip. We were being on trains, and then we are crashing in Christmastown, and we travelled to the workshops.." The main thing she remembers was how cold it was. This JOYful cold was cold, but not as cold as it had been in that mountain pass. And she had been more warmly dressed then. "But.. all we are doing is going there, fighting a little. But I am not remembering us taking anything.." Most of the end of the raid was rather confusing. "B-but why they ar --"
The poludnica never got to finish the thought as a snow mang formed. Her cheeks colored as he.. was hitting on her and Taryn? What in all of Halloween?! She ducked as a snowball rocketed towards Roch, and gasped in surprise as Taryn reached for the scarf and yanked the creature's head off. The music in the air stalled, and the snow mang went motionless. She stood up slowly, shakily, and her gaze fell to the scarf in the jar as Roch congratulated the chimera. While she agreed with him, something felt rather.. unsettling about all of this.
"What does this mean.. ?" she asked nervously. The monster hadn't dissipated, and now they certainly had a sample. However the ghoul felt very uncertain about what to do next (well, fleeing was her first thought, but she shoved that away to wait for group consensus). It was in that moment of contemplation that she noticed something.. well, moreso felt it.
"H-hey." She looked towards Mort, then tapped Taryn and Roch on the shoulder. "Can.. can you feel that? Below.." Her finger pointed downward automatically, as if they needed any help to know what "below" meant. The dull rumble was kind of hard not to notice.

Taryn turned to Tset and gave a nervous huff of air. She'd meant to be reassuring, but her expression belied her intent. The chimera was nervous, and she began to explain just why.
"This happened once before, although I didn't see the creatures... freeze like this. The music stopped and... the cranking, the rumbling. All of the Christmas beasts returned, but... something was wrong." Against her better judgement, the ghoul approached the snowman and gestured to the mutated side of his face. Grey and blue, glowing, angry... "Something's going wrong. They've gotten stronger. I have to worry... if it might happen again?" She stepped back then, clutching the jar to her chest protectively and returning to hover amidst the group of her friends. If the snowman came alive again, stronger... they should still be able to beat it. She sighed again and looked around them.
"Mechanical sounds below... a glassine casing all around and... odd snow. Very odd..." She brushed some from the lid of her jar into her hand, shaking her head. She was reminded of something, but she couldn't quite place what it was.

To all of this, Mort only gripped Tset's shoulder tighter; had he been faster, he might have also done the same to Taryn's proffered shoulder before she had decapitated the snow creature.
When would he fight? Who knew. Everyone else seemed more than capable after all.
Having the four man team reminded him, though . . . "Must prep f-for what next. Th-Think like mmo," Mortimer mumbled to himself as he thought aloud, though it wasn't as if the others couldn't hear him. "Healer, tank, DPS . . . D-Don't have healer, no spells, AoE . . . No, d-dun think has. N-N-Need worry about HP, FEAR . . . T-Taryn use, Roch say use one . . . Cooldown finish y-yes?" he asked them with a brief glance before continuing his musings. "Need think, who fit best e-each . . ." He tapped his chin thoughtfully, then turned to the group once more.
"How everyone feel? N-Need put order: who take most damage, who m-make most damage, who kites . . . N'one know spells?" It was the most the zombie had probably talked to them in a while, after his shutdown earlier.

Roch looked at the zombie blankly, raising one eyebrow slowly. "Huh?" he finally said, having no jackin' CLUE what the other guy was talking about. "If you mean my FEAR, I can sort of use it if I wait long enough between fights, but I ain't gonna overdo it, I might start getting sick off of it again."
Which... was sort of what he thought the guy had been talking about? The music started again, causing him to curse. "Jackdammit, this place SUCKS. This is worse than the time I spent Christmastival night as lookout! And that seriously, seriously BLEW."
