(( Enoh is the best ever @ Evie gala art ;__; <33 ))WELL, wasn't Eva looking mighty suspicious today? The moment she entered the room with Reine, she leaned over to her friend and whispered, "Help me look for targets, okay?" The girl was dressed far nicer than before--the dress was definitely the most fancy thing she had worn here so far--but what was probably most eye-catching with the biiiig grin that was stretched across her lips...and the fact she was hiding something behind her back. Something obvious.
Was that...was that her weapon? And what was that tied at the base of the crystal?
Chara was not pleased. Eva, this is not what I am for! I will not help you go around and--
"But Chara," She interrupted with a bright grin, "It's Christmas! In addition to being the BEST SNOWMAN I CAN BE--"--Apparently, of all the choices, she had decided that she wanted to be a snowman--"Reine and I need to help all those dateless people find their perfect match! ...Or, you know. Amuse ourselves with what may come out of this." Either or, it didn't really matter! So long as everyone had fun...that was all that counted, right?
And presents. Never not presents.
Now, hmmm--had anyone else shown up yet? "There are a couple familiar faces, but no puppy yet--oh, hey!" Her gaze focused on a particular blond. Gale actually came--...Waaait a minute, didn't he say that he didn't have a date? Eva looked at Gale, then at the mistletoe, back to Gale, and back to the mistletoe. Then she looked at the guys that he was standing with, before her gaze finally settled on Reine. She was grinning. It was a very, very wide grin--it was the expression of someone who was clearly up to no good.
But first, a greeting. Winking at Reine, Eva desummoned Chara for the time being (the mistletoe hung from the clip that was Chara's unsummoned form), and cleared her throat. "GALEGALEGALE YOU CAAAAAME!" Without any further warning, the young woman tackled him from behind.

The nickname Gale mentioned made her blush, but his embrace was welcomed just as merrily, a tiny giggle shaking her chest. "Gale!!"
But then the hug branched out to Wilson, to whom Minerva clutched onto with a squeal of delight. "YAY THANKS! You guys look even better! I love the costumes! I wish I would have thought to buy one!" And as Tedan joined, the trainee couldn't help but curl an arm around him just as tightly. In between the squeeze she murmured, "SO GOOD TO MEET YOU TOO!" Before more giggles erupted so hard she could hardly breathe.
AND THEN EVA APPROACHED AND MINERVA STOPPED GIGGLING TO WAVE ENTHUSIASTICALLY! "EVA!"

And then suddenly there were hugs everywhere.
At just barely five foot five, Gale was feeling slightly squashed.
Very carefully he extricated himself from the giant group hug, his face tinged slightly red. He definitely liked hugs (Christmas meant hugs, right?), but in order to enjoy them, he probably should be able to actually breathe.
Except apparently getting out of one hug meant getting another in return.
All Gale heard was his name screeched at a high volume, a pounding of footsteps, and then suddenly someone flew into him from behind, causing Gale to stagger forward several steps and almost trip over his own two feet.
There was no denying that voice, however, and the red flush on Gale's face grew deeper.
"Eva!" he said, trying not to show just how happy he was to see her. Except that was a little impossible, since he was bouncing up and down on the soles of his feet, grinning stupidly at her.
"Hi! And yes, I came," he added, shrugging his shoulders and fighting back the urge to hug her (hugs were awesome at Christmas). "I figured I might as well."
He looked over at her flouncy purple dress and cleared his throat awkwardly.
"You, er...look very nice."
Then he quickly added to the rest, so as to not show he was playing favorites, "Everyone looks nice."

Reine was dressed as, what else, a REINEDEER. A reinedeer in a pretty fancy dress, and were those heels, that Eva had picked out for her on her shopping trip. So the way she walked was a cross between wobbly and bouncy, and she made sure to cling to Eva.
"Targets," she repeated happily, looking over Eva's shoulder to scan the room for people. Why were they targeting them? That didn't matter. Reine had been given a Task, like Rudolph, and she fully intended on doing it well, whether she had a red shiny nose or not.
... Not. Even though she was slightly disappointed at herself for coming underprepared, Reine wasn't about to let that stop her- she'd just find a makeshift thing and stick it on her face later. The night was still young! Ally was in a surprisingly good mood as well, between snickers and 'compliments' about how Reine should consider just pulling sleds for the rest of her life.
"I hope he hasn't lost his way," she giggled, and then Eva was giving her A Look that clearly said MISSION GO. Reine nodded solemnly, following Eva towards a crowd of people. If not for the joy, she might have felt a tiny twinge of loneliness- how did Eva know so many people?!

The night of the Gala. When Otto had first heard of it, he'd wanted nothing to do with it, and ended up having Eva bully him into attending. But now? As the Joy Formula pumped through his veins? He was excited as Hell. When Otto stepped into the room, his eyes lit up like a kid at Christmas. Food, dancing, kissing was in the air. Magical.

"Yes, you did," she replied patiently, not the slightest hint of suspicion lacing her cool tone, although her eyes drifted to him, arm curled loosely around his own as they stepped into the room. This behavior wasn't unusual for Robert -- she was used to his possessive comments, his lavishing compliments, his unsubtle propositions for sex. She took them all in stride, never batting an eyelid on the surface, unless they were completely alone. Even the nervousness wasn't really rare for him, although she would admit, he usually exuded confidence. Never the less, there was something... a little strange about him, his actions a little more erratic and apprehensive than usual, even by Petra's standards of him. Even as they crossed the room, the moon-trainee's expression went flat, her expression skeptical as they stepped onto the dance floor, one eyebrow raised as she lifted her hand at his prompting, and he spun her gently towards him to take her waist.
There were quite a few perks to having a fiance who was practiced in Dance. Flexibility was one of them, although not the perk she was thinking about at the moment. Parties were another. At formal events -- weddings, Christmas parties -- he was the ideal companion. He was a beautiful dance partner, elegantly leading each and every step with unparalleled perfection, like the prince out of a fairy tale. And while her own skill paled in comparison, she, being his lover for so long, had not escaped the fate of constant practice. She followed every gentle press of his fingers to the small of her back like they were detailed instructions, her dress brushing her thighs as she moved. And while she did not miss a step, it was clearly he who stole the show, her skin prickling as she felt eyes move not over them, but him.
Female eyes.
Female eyes that intended to steal him for a dance because he was likely one of the few men who KNEW how to dance.
That was one of the downsides. She did not at all mind being overlooked, but Petra was secretly a little possessive. Robert might outwardly threaten any man who even looked at her cross-eyed, but she was the opposite, sporting an indifferent demeanor... right up until some b***h got just a little too friendly.
When Robert's hand left hers, the moon hunter automatically reached down to lift the edge of her dress, allowing him the mobility to reach into his pocket. Although she didn't look down to see what he was doing, once again her eyebrow lifted as he whispered the curse, watching him with that same skeptical look as he looked around, as if searching for someone. She allowed this to go on for a little while, focusing on him as they spun in a simple, elegant circle around the dance floor, watching his eyes dart around for a good few minutes before she spoke up, her voice matching her expression.
"What are you doing."

When Jeremy walked in, he walked in with Ariane on his arm. It was an agreement between the childhood friends; a date for dressing up properly. And Jeremy dressed himself. It was a deal. A happily made deal. Because he didn't want to show up to a party alone...because he was a little bit of a little b***h. Maybe. Well, he had a little b***h in his head; luckily Elsie was too preoccupied humming the alphabet to care what was going on.
"I'll get you punch or something~" He informed her happily, patting her hand and snaking his arm from hers; on his way to the food table though, he paused. That guy was dressed just like him. Same everything, right down to the colour of the tie! The only differences were physical, and even then...did he have to be blonde, too?! GOD DAMNIT. Jeremy stared, He tilted his head, and then he coughed.
"Well...this is embarrassing."

Otto turned his head as someone stepped beside him. All the Joy in his system nearly died right there. His eyes lidded, glancing the other boy up and down. "Yeah.." He clucked his tounge and looked up to Jeremy with a brow raised. "Looks like one of us needs to change."ie. not Otto.

Gale.
Minnie saw that. All that excitement there. The hug. Oh yus.
Being filled to the brim with joy certainly had its perks and its downfalls. She was practically overdosing on the stuff! Of course some of the actions certain people made would be skewed into something it MIGHT NOT BE. OF COURSE. Leaning forward, Minnie squinted her eyes at the golden haired trainee, a sly grin spreading across her lips. The gaze switched to Eva, and then back again to Gale before Minerva rose to her full height and grunted approvingly.
Love was definitely in the air. And even if it wasn't, the death trainee knew it would be in good time. Shoot, that bit of mistletoe on the end of Eva's staff would do the trick if the joy didn't!
A quick turn and all of a sudden another darling looking individual was participating in their merriment! Minerva clapped her hands together and gestured toward the antlers atop of the girls head. "You look adorable, Reine!" WOW! EVERYONE was looking fantastic!
Some of them were even matching?! Was there a contest she didn't know about?

Ariane had to admit that Jeremy looked good cleaned up. Like really good. Not that he wasn't a pretty thing normally, but there was something about the way he looked dressed up that made him look extra good. Or it might just be something in the air telling her to think that way; what are the chances of that though, right?
It wasn't like she didn't put any effort into dressing up for this party.
She nodded when he said something about a drink, but paused and walked over when she noticed Otto - boomerang guy - dressed in the exact same clothing. Putting a hand down on her childhood friend's shoulder, she shook her head, "You didn't tell me this was a threeway date."

It had turned into a group hug! Wilson loved group hugs. He snuggled into Minerva’s waist until he heard a feminine voice. Wilson looked up. “Hey Eva!” He finally let go of Minerva and straightened up, adjusting his elf hat until it was back in place. Wilson beamed at Gale, completely unaware of the red blush across the boy’s face. “Gee, thanks Gale! Your sweater looks really spiffy.” Spiffy?
He turned around and was startled to find twins. HOLY COW TWI—Oh wait it was Jeremy and Otto. “Wow! Did you guys coordinate that?” At Otto’s words, Wilson frowned, but then a brilliant idea struck him and he put his elf hat on Jeremy’s hat. “Does that work?” : D?

Tedan grinned as more people came over to join their little group, COMPLETELY OBLIVIOUS to any and all plans and missions the two newest girls might be up to. That weapon was hidden really well, apparently. Or at least, he was too high on joy and possibly apple cider to notice it. "Hiya Eva! And Reine, you guys look great too~" he practically gushed. "I heard there's a dance contest later ... but we gotta have partners. Anyone else planning to enter that?"

Julie leaned in close, really close Bix, giggling as she whispered in his ear rather loudly. "Then we must go out and spread the Joy. As soulmates, never to cease in our fight for love and justice until we have succeeded!"
The last part was a little loud for a whisper, but the Moon Hunter was off with a hop and a bounce, tripping again over the cord before getting up, looking around for her next victim. She dutifully disappeared somewhere near a gaggle of Life Hunters looking for all the world like they were upset at Julie but could not really remember the reason as to why.
Which really, left Bix-slash-Santa-Claus alone and vulnerable to everyone else.

"Not it." Jeremy scratched his nose, turning his head idly to look down at Ariane again. "It wasn't! I promise, I don't even know this kid!" He sounded like he was defending himself while his wife discovered his mistress...but he was incredibly happy about it. At Wilson's sudden outburst, he startled and looked over at the boy, feeling the hat go on his head.
"Oh! Yes, thank you! This works well enough, uhh...Wilson, right?" He pointed at the other Trainee, trying to pull the name from his memory. There was still something he had to do, though... Golden eyes slid back towards the shorter blonde, staring in intense contemplation before...smiling?
"Did you know that in the olden days, when two people showed up in the same outfit, the shorter one was beheaded?" He informed the shorter Hunter, smiling away as if he believed everything he was saying to be complete and utter truth.

"N-nothing, what?! I mean - well I'm doing something, I'm dancing with you, but you already knew that so you can't be asking me that so otherwise nothing, what are you even talking about my GOD it's hot in here why did I think it was a good idea to wear a ******** three piece suit-"
He loosened his tie, took a deep breath - since he hadn't breathed in, what, a full minute there? - and slid his hands around Petra, pulling her close. There wasn't much he could do right now, until he found one of his boys - because he certainly wasn't going to go 'bee arr bee Petra, I gotta go look for your ring 'cause there's a ******** hole in my jacket pocket and I think I just dropped thousands of dollars worth of jewelry on the floor somewhere HAHA OH WELL'.
No, he was going to act like nothing was wrong, for as long as he can.
His hands were tight around her body, as his movements led her in what he mindlessly knew to do. He didn't have to think as he sashayed her fluidly across the dance floor, each step moving them gracefully across like swans on water. He didn't have to think, to look good dancing. Each sway was as autonomous as a breath, and as he let her go for all but one hand, and spun her effortlessly away, only to pull her back into his arms, the movement was as thoughtless as a sigh.
Once she returned to him, his hands slid across the expanse of skin down her upper arms, his long fingers lingering with their brushstrokes. Then he kissed her hair, and his eyes returned to searching wildly for one of his buddies.
Somebody had to help him.
