Otto looked over, reaching over and opening the tool box that Reine held. Apparently, he was using her as a table. Or wanted the company and didn't have the balls to say so. He sifted through tools until he found the screwdriver he wanted, then got to work at assembling the kit again.
"You play anythin'?" What was this? Attempts at conversation? Bravo.

Helpful Reine was helpful. All her life she never really had to deal with repairs, so it was almost amazing seeing how Otto picked out screwdrivers and the like. She guessed it was like picking the right micropipette- enough experience and you knew just by sight.
"Violin," she replied, sighing almost dreamily. "Mine's at home, though, which means I'll never touch her again, probably.." A replacement was out of the question for now, it cost far too much.
"How about you, huh? Had any hobbies?" Otto didn't look like the nerdy type, so she supposed he actually.. as the other kids used to call it, 'had a life'.

"Huh." Otto replied as if he cared, installing what looked to be a support stand. "Ain't that like high class s**t'or sumthin'?" Classy, Otto.
"Nope." He replied flatly, not even looking her way as he worked diligantly. "When I wasn't drummin' I was hangin' out with my friends. Stayed away from the house a lot cause its boring as s**t." Otto supposed he was trying to be conversational, since he'd said more than he usually would about himself.
"What'dya do fer fun?"

"I don't know if you'd consider it high class," Reine said thoughtfully. "Just an instrument, you know! Drums are kinda cool, too." If potentially noisy.
Reine fidgeted a little at the mention of 'boring'. That didn't reveal too much about his house, but well, there weren't many types of 'boring'- essentially it amounted to not having anything interesting to do... for various definitions of.. boring.
"I, um, read?" Oooh, awkward- right after he'd mentioned boring, and Otto didn't strike her as the bookish type at all. "I spent my spare time at the lab in college, and in high school, I guess I used to go out exploring and chasing stuff. Like old houses. I'd bring a camera out, see if I could snap pictures of.. you know, all the stuff lurking in the dark. Figured maybe someone might believe me if I did."
In the end, nothing had really happened, though she supposed she'd gotten a bunch of pretty awesome photographs over the years, the monsters had never once showed up on film, and eventually, even the others who thought there might have been something- and there was!- gave up, or as they said, 'grew out of it'.
If you could really grow out of monsters, though, Reine thought, she probably wouldn't be here right now.

"I read too." Otto mumbled, fidgeting with one thing or another relating to the drum set. He'd have asked what she read, but those kinds of conversations were boring to him. He read to pass time.
Her further musings slowed his progress, shuddering once she finished. "Got more guts than I do." He commented. He'd never go into dark places willingly. Not that he'd admit it. Not willingly. In truth, the dark terrified him.
That was not something he could admit openly. Simply avoid the situations where he'd have to deal with it.
"Lemme guess. No one believed you anyway."

Reine's jaw dropped. Otto read? Otto read?! She would have pegged him as the Robert kind of guy, but she was gaining a bit of respect for him now.
"That never amounted to much, though." In the end, either it wasn't worth it, or she got scared, too. Not that much- while the shadows bothered her, it had never been anything too extreme.. luckily. She lost more sleep researching about things that could possibly happen, usually.
"They didn't," she agreed. "But in the end they don't matter- only you guys do."

Otto's lip twitched. Was it irritation? Or a forced way to stop from a smile? No one knows. No one would ever know. "Never any good tryin to make anyone understand." Otto mumbled bitterly.
"Hold this." He motioned to the drum he needed to screw into the stand.

"No point thinking about that now!" Reine reached over and ruffled his hair. Who would've thought their puppy was actually so sensible? He was so adorable! Ickle puppykins. And then she caught the look on his face and desisted. Whoops..
"Mmkay~" It looked like he was making fairly good progress with the drum set, and Reine moved to hold the drum he'd pointed out to her. Yay, she was helping!
"So hey, that christmas party thing, have you heard about it?" she asked. "You're coming with me and Eva, right."
That wasn't a question.

Otto paused in his work to blink, then sighed and continued. "Apparently." he grumbled, finishing the task and waving Reine's hand away. He really didn't want to go, but Eva had already made it clear he had no choice, let alone Reine and her crazy. He really had no choice.
"I told her it ain't my thing. I don't even dance er nuthin." He sat back, the drum set complete.

"YESSSSSSSS." FISTPUMP. And then she leaned over and hugged him happily. The drumset.. okay, it didn't look great, but he'd put it together all on his own, and Reine was proud of him! She probably would be until he started playing while she was trying to sleep or study, but maaaaaybe he'd be considerate enough not to anyway.
"I'm sure you'll be brilliant," she said, reassuringly. "I mean, look at Robert, did you know he dances?" Reine grinned at him. "I don't dance either, but it's a PARTY, puppy! You gotta love parties."
She waved an arm in the air. "Just think of the fooooooood."

Hug. Guh. Otto wriggled until he was let go, huffing indignantly. "Who?" Robert? Oh right. "Oh. Him. Wow. Amazing." He replied sarcastically, slow clapping. Robert wasn't his favorite person, and whether he could dance or not was of no concern to Otto.
"Well.. maybe the food'll be better than cafeteria shlop." Otto said with a shrug, standing up. "I'm bored of you. You can go away." Otto said with a hand wave. Honestly? He just wanted to play his drums. One could tell the way he eyed them.
Polite as ever.

And just when she thought they were getting along better.. Reine pouted a little, dusting herself off as she stood up.
"Be nice," she said, smacking him lightly on the head. She felt just the tiniest bit hurt when he said he was 'bored' of her- maybe that had hit a nerve, but she tried not to show it, anyway. Plus, boys were stupid, right? She could forgive that. Probably.
"Seeya, then." Reine picked up her plushies, though she left the cleaning supplies with Otto, and walked out.
She miiiiight have slammed the door behind her.

Was Reine mad? She seemed mad. Otto raised a brow, scoffing after she slammed the door. "What's up her a**?" He huffed, like he had been wronged somehow and sat down to his drum set.
It's okay, Reine. Boys are stupid. Especially this one.
